The label even convinced Martin Hannett to produce their very first Dolphin's Spurt in its splendid seventies Philips-style sleeve. Emerging from the dutch-art-wave scene, Wally van Middendorp was a key figure in The Netherlands with his Plurex record label before he released these three singles on the Manchester label. Minny Pops supported the fledgling New Order on many of their European dates, however I would guess their manic & zany electronica was lost on many of the gloomy raincoat brigade who followed New Order at the time.

Only Wally Really Knows...

Minny Pops - Sparks In A Dark Room [FACBN 15 BEL 1982 24-Bit FLAC] Motorik cold wave beats from the original Dutch masters in lush high resolution 24-bit flac audio. As soon as you hear the opening bars of A Feeling you know you are into something very different and some what intriguing. In 1982 there was no other band like Minny Pops and that was probably why they only appealed to very few - these chaps invented the coldest of cold waves and if you jump straight to the opening beats of Tracking you could also assume that Wally Van Middendorp and chums invented acid house. This record induces brain freeze like no other ...but in a good way, the monotone bass beat continues throughout for the first three quarters of the album and then suddenly you get the quirky & complex Night Visit . The Minny Pop beat is all about Wim Dekker and Pieter Mulder, Wally gets to join in once the music is laid down, and whatever Wally is warbling about, only Wally really knows. Enjoy fol...

Minny Pops ‎- Drastic Measures, Drastic Movement [PLUREX 0900 NLD 1981 24-Bit FLAC] Originally released in 1979, my rare 1981 repress also includes a live 7" single ripped here in 24-bit high resolution for your listening pressure! Dutch electro-punks Minny Pops weird you out with their debut long player. Drastic Measures ... is an assemblage of monotone electronica, off-kilter loops and disturbingly twisted distortion. There are very few "proper" songs contained within these grooves, Dolphin's Spurt became a single on Factory Records in the UK however R.U. 21 is the stand-out with its fuzzed layers of  Fender. Things began to make more sense with the follow-up album on Factory Benelux....
