Peter Gabriel - I/O [PGLP 21 UK&EU 2023 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] With almost twenty-three years in the making, the world has been waiting for I/O for quite a while. Originally conceived as parts for Gabriel's last original studio album Up in 2002, the project was developed and then shelved numerous times, with around 150 song ideas worked upon to eventually result in this final double album release in two mixes - I went for the Bright-Side mixes by Mark Stent. What is most noticeable is how the 73-year old Gabriel's voice has held up over the years, and this album highlights the full range of the man's vocal ability. If you've been following his You Tube channel over the past year or so, you will also be quite familiar with many of these tracks as PG has talked song by song (often at length) about their development. These are all splendidly arranged songs with uplifting big choruses  covering all aspects of Gabriel's views on the world, life, the environment an...

Peter Gabriel - III [PGLPR 3 UK 2016 24-Bit FLAC] Released in May 1980, Peter Gabriel's III rd album (aka Melt ) was evidence that he was establishing himself as a solo artist with one big hit, Games Without Frontiers and one major inspirational piece, the anthemic  Biko . Recorded with Peter Voegel (inventor of the Fairlight), Robert Fripp, Kate Bush and Phil Collins as well as studio regulars David Rhodes, Dick Morrissey and Tony Levin. The Jam's Paul Weller also popped into the sessions to record the guitar riffs for And Through The Wire .  This is the 2016 DMM pressing, self-released through Gabriel's Real World Records and the pressing reveals a meticulous attention to detail missing on so many recent vinyl pressings with very little evidence of vinyl noise. The Big Time

Peter Gabriel - So [PGLPR 5 UK 2016 24-Bit FLAC] 1986 was a huge year for the album format, with a significant number of important pop and rock albums released, especially in the run up to the Christmas period. So was released in early December 1986 and the second best selling album that year (after only a month), second only to Paul Simon's Graceland - be warned, I have a copy of that album on vinyl somewhere as well. 1986 was an important year for me as well, I had finished my education and began a career in music retail.  Peter Gabriel was the one from Genesis that it was okay to like. Whilst the other band members lost their hair and cultivated their beards (& flares), Gabriel cast aside his  Ikhnaton ,   his Itsacon and his Band Of Merry-Men to position himself at the forefront of credible modern art-rock with new wave leanings. So was his fifth solo album... and his biggest by far. Gabriel also embraced the MTV generation, with the lead single, Sled...
