Working Week - Venceremos (We Will Win) [VS 684-12 UK 1984 24-Bit FLAC] Before I took some time away, I ripped two albums; the new Doves long player and the double remastered vinyl rerelease of The Beloved's Happiness . I was struck by how poor they sounded when compared to vinyl pressings from thirty or so years ago. Recalling how bad the 2018 remaster of Bowie's Low sounded when I ripped that, I spent time considering the consequences of my upgrade to moving coil cartridge's from Ortofon's trusty 2M moving magnets. After double (and triple) checking all my alignments, connections and tracking forces etc, I've come to the sweeping conclusion that modern analogue vinyl mastering using digital sources is mostly shite and the music industry is selling us a load of old tosh which sound bad on higher spec equipment.
