  Fortunate Sons - Karezza [KIRI 093 UK 1987 24-Bit FLAC] As promised & requested, here is the second and final album from London's Fortunate Sons, Kareeza. Again taking their lead from American garage rock and power pop, Kareeza also injects Pete Townsend style riffing forming a much more up-tempo affair than their 1986 debut with overall a little less paisley than on  Rising .  American acts, Green On Red and The Long Ryders faired better in the field than Fortunate Sons, Bam Caruso also failed to capitalise on the paisley revival with another American band Plasticland. The stand-out for me on this record is easily the dreamy psychedelia of Dawning which seems to fit with were 1987 indie music was finding popularity. Fortunate Sons disappeared from view shortly after release, managing just one more single, the Stones influenced rocker,  Hammerhead .   Fortune Sons - Rising [KIRI 050 UK 1986 24-Bit FLAC] Time to briefly resume the position at the ripping station with something old from Fortunate Sons who found themselves on the great & groovy retro-psyche label Bam Caruso Records, after originally recording the album in West Germany. I first ripped this album about ten years ago and felt that it now perhaps deserved a new rip into superior quality. Born out of the ashes of The Barracudas, Fortunate Sons blended British pub-rock with American West Coast, garage rock and power-pop with a psychedelic twist of twang & paisley fuzziness. Stand out is the single Sometimes You Win , whilst the majority of the tracks may not be to everybody's liking, these are accomplished musicians reliving their favourite genres in a unique way. The closing  20th Century Myth would have fitted comfortably well in the C86 world and could possibly have opened Fortunate Sons to a wider audience. I have their second album Kareeza ripped a...
