Dubbel XX

Siglo XX - Dubbel Album [ANTLER 031 BEL 2023 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] Originally released a a double album on Antler Records in 1984. Some may be aware that Antwerp based label Starman Records have picked up the rights to the back catelogue of formerly important Belgian label Antler Records. The first release is the Dubbel Album of studio & live tracks by Genk's coldwave/post-punk rockers Siglo XX. Original pressings are almost impossible to find in good condition these days, so this was a must have for me. You should be familiar about the story that the individual members of Joy Division were inspired to form a band at a Sex Pistols gig at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall - it should be no surprise that a whole bunch of Belgian bands were inspired by their attendance at a Joy Division gig in Brussels some years later. Siglo XX were to move onto a more electronic sound later in the eighties, however it is these earlier more post-punk influenced recordings for Antler Rec...

Dreams Of Unknown Pleasures

Siglo XX ‎– Answer [OS 40 BEL 2018 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] If there was never a Joy Division, then there would never have been a Siglo XX. I don't know if the Flemish town of Genk resembles Macclesfield or Salford, perhaps the towns have much in common ....maybe it is something in the water. Mind you, I did hear that you should never drink Belgian tap water, just the beer.  From one of the very best Belgian coldwave bands comes this six-track 45rpm EP, originally released on Antler Records in 1983, carefully reconstructed by Onderstroom Records. For those who like their rock; dark, rich & moody, and perhaps also their beer. A1   Answer. A2   After The Dream A3   Room B1   Until A Day B2   Endless Corridor B3   Dreams Of Pleasure

Can You Hear Me?

Siglo XX - Siglo XX [OS 06 BEL 2020 24-Bit FLAC] Originally recorded during April 1981 and released as a self-distributed cassette tape of demo tracks. Onderstroom Records have pressed these very early works onto vinyl, remastered as well as you possibly could from an old tape. This album has the feel and look of a bootleg, however was sanctioned by the band. Here is what the label said.... I hear noises, imaginary sounds . Re-issue of Siglo XX's first tape. Recorded in April 1981 and distributed among friends and at gigs, this tape was the first product of their collaboration. And what a tape this is! Heavily influenced by the likes of Joy Division & the whole Factory scene, Belgian’s finest produced a total of nine incredible dark but catchy cold wave tunes. Add to this two bonus tracks from their first demo cassette & you have an essential document of the first Siglo XX years. In 1978, a few friends started rehearsing and playing music together in a gara...

Dreams Of Pleasure

Siglo XX - Dreams Of Pleasure [OS 041 BEL 2018 24-Bit FLAC] Originally released as a 12" single on Antler Records (ANTLER 020) in 1983. Here is the last of the recent Siglo XX reissues by classy Belgian label Onderstroom Records. Dreams Of Pleasure is much less Joy Division and much more early New Order! Future recordings by the band were never as good as the first three releases. A1 Dreams Of Pleasure (II) B1 In The Garden B2 The Silent House

War As Art

Siglo XX ‎– The Art Of War [OS 39 BEL 2018 24-Bit FLAC] More classic Belgian post-punk from Siglo XX. This time it is the excellent repress of their Art Of War  twelve inch EP originally released on Antler Records in 1982. A1  The Art Of War A2  La Vie Dans La Nuit B1  Youth Sentiment B2  Autumn
