The Early Years - II [SCR 110LP UK 2016 24-Bit FLAC] The Early Years have been around a while, and whilst not the most prolific of recording artists, they were responsible for one of my favourite albums from the last decade. II is their imaginatively titled second album, released ten years after their debut for Beggars Banquet, catch my drift? The BB deal was for two albums however I would assume their lengthy hiatus ensured that fell through. This time on the important Sonic Cathedral label, II is lushly packaged in a textured grey sleeve over two platters, one black the other on white vinyl. That would have been more than enough for me to buy it thirty years previously. It is what's inside which really matters, and whilst The Early Years do nothing new, they blend psychedelic rock, post-punk, electronics and krautrock into a gorgeous volley of sound.
