Party Fears Once More

Alan Rankine - The Sandman [12" TWI 598 BEL 1986 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] Here is the original Les Disques Du Crépuscule twelve inch version of Alan Rankine's debut pop single The Sandman . It is not the greatest of pressings (the run-in grooves needed some work for this post), however you also get three worthy instrumental pieces of the flipside which hint at some planned soundtrack work. The a-side is pure cheesy catchy synth-pop and was eventually re-released as a single on Virgin Records a few years later, but it sadly failed to sell in any number and make any impact in the mainstream, where I think it deserved a place. This is a brand new 176.4kHz rip A1   The Sandman B1   Rumours Of War B2   Rue Traversiere B3   Sunny Lee

Alan Rankine - She Loves Me Not [V2450 UK 1987 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] This is not a re-post, in fact I doubt that I have ever ripped this album before. After an initial solo career on Brussels label, Les Disques Du Crépuscule and side work as producer and instrumentalist for Paul Haig & Anna Domino among others, the other Associate got a deal with Virgin Records. A few tracks were re-worked from Rankine's debut album for this unashamedly pop record with his single The Sandman becoming a minor hit. It wasn't enough to drive sales of the album and before long Rankine was back on the Belgian label recording soundtrack work. Pleasure Ground - Life Of Jade [12 TWI 320 BEL 1984 24-Bit FLAC] A1 Life Of Jade A2 Insane B1 The Girl I Met In Arkansas Pleasure Ground - Wait [12 TWI 360 BEL 1984 24-Bit FLAC] A1 Wait B1 Nursery Room B2 In Another Life When he ceased being an Associate, Alan Rankine began a prolific career as a producer and song writer working with acts such as Paul Haig, Winston Tong and Anna Domino. Before beginning a solo career he was briefly one third of Scottish synthpop trio Pleasure Ground along with Jon Mais and Chris Yates, who released these two 12" singles on Les Disques Du Crépuscule. Both strongly evidence Rankine's love of pop music with a strong ear for a good and catchy pop song.
