From Hulme Park to Prospect Park
Simon Topping - Prospect Park [FBN 41 BEL 1985 24-Bit FLAC] I was keen to hear how this sounded on the ProJect Classic with its MC cartridge, and am quite blown away to say the least. So here for you is a brand new 2019 rip of Simon Topping's only solo single released all those years ago on Factory Benelux. Simon Topping left A Certain Ratio in early 1983 as the band veered to a more jazz-funk sound. Topping wanted to persue his love of latin percussion and temporarily relocated to New York to hone his skills. Originally the lead singer of ACR, he took a more backward role as the band progressed, though his trumpet and congas could be heard on all ACR tracks up until his departure. On Factory, he was to reappear as a guest musician playing trumpet on The Durutti Column's important Another Setting LP and live on percussion in a Granada TV studio with 52nd Street (and a few live gigs) and eventually he re-emerged as a full-time member of Quando Quango before th...
