Facts & Technology

Red Guitars - Good Technology [SD 008 UK 1984 24-Bit FLAC] I thought about re-ripping my original Red Guitars seven inch singles as a follow up to the recent Slow To Fade album post. Whilst flicking through a box of albums and twelves, I came across this edition which I completely forgot that I had. This is the second pressing of Good Technology  on 12" which appeared about year after the first, which was only on seven inch single. The sound quality is vastly superior to my old original sevens, so here it is along with the bonus of Fact on the flipside plus  Paris France ...which I recall was from a Peel Session. Enjoy! A1 Good Technology B1 Fact B2 Paris France

Better Red Than.....

Red Guitars - Slow To Fade [SCAR LP 1 UK 1984 24-Bit FLAC] In order to restore a sense of calm to things, I'd like to offer up a quality vinyl rip of Slow To Fade by Red Guitars for reappraisal. I have posted the UK compact disc on my old blog, however my vinyl copy remains in pristine condition and makes for excellent source material.  After the stark early agit-pop singles, Hull's Red Guitars introduced a swirling Fender-led afrobeat into their sound. At the time, I recall being disappointed with this record, however there are highlights which deserve great credit even today. Marimba Jive and Remote Control are a million miles away from the classic singles, Fact and Good Technology , but Red Guitars were a zillion light years ahead of Paul Simon's tinkerings with African influences Well okay, make that two years only without all the hype. Personal favourite, Dive recalls Joy Division's Interzone in a tribute to Lou Reed's Sweet Jane. The sha-la-...

Jeremy Kidd - Petals And Ashes [SCAR 15T UK 1985 24-Bit FLAC] Subtitled A Song For Emma Goldman . Jerry Kidd has one of the most recognisable vocals from mid-eighties indie music and imho Red Guitars could not survive his departure (and I think history agrees with me). Disappointingly Petals And Ashes was to be his only post-Red Guitars single ...and as this is the man who sung of good technology and take the profit out of war, we don't need it anymore , you should expect the very same. If fact, this well be a Red Guitars single - all that is missing is the Hallam Lewis guitar. To remind of those heady days, we get a seven minute lounge-cabaret version of Red Guitars' Crocodile Tears on the flipside!! Red Guitars - Steeltown [SCAR 010T UK 1984 24-Bit FLAC] For a brief moment in time, Red Guitars were the best band on the planet ....until they went pop! I ripped my copy of the 7" back in the old blogspot days, here from the penguinflight archives is my rip of his superb 12" to high resolution 24-bits of FLAC.  A1 Steeltown B1 Within 4 Walls
