David J - Songs From Another Season [BEGA 112 UK 1990 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] Songs From Another Season was the third solo album by former Bauhaus bassist David J. Haskins. After they more difficult & arty albums  Etiquette Of Violence and  Crocodile Tears And The Velvet Cosh from the middle eighties, J. had found some recognition as part of Love & Rockets, more especially in the USA.  This album is possible his most accessible, drifting between post-Dylan singer-songwriter, country rock (the occasional twang does break out) and alternative rock. With help from Beggars Banquet Records & the bigger Warners Group in Europe and RCA Records in the USA, it was his most successful, anchored by the single  I'll Be Your Chauffeur .  Haskins deals with most of the instruments himself, however finds occasional support once more from the members of The Jazz Butcher. These songs have a better structure with a considerably better production than his earl...

David J - Blue Moods Turning Tail [GLAEP 101 UK 1985 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] I began the week with some ex-Bauhaus related content, so why not bring the week to an end with something else? David J's solo career began on Situation Two Records with his difficult debut  Etiquette Of Violence and all those sub-Dylan meanderings, his better years were to come with Glass Records where he managed to borrow a few Jazz Butchers and persuaded his little brother Ken Haskins to help out on drums. Blue Moods Turning Tail was a four-track EP which featured two commendable note for note cover versions, firstly the Clock DVA post-punk standard 4 Hours and concluding with John Cale's S hip Of Fools . The two self-penned tracks in between show some solo creativity however are in reality quite forgettable standard fare. A1 4 Hours B1 Night Of The Silver Veil B2 The Conjurer's Hand B3 Ship Of Fools

David J - Joe Orton's Wedding [SIT 26T UK 1983 24-Bit FLAC] How about the other one from Bauhaus, you know the quiet one with the tinted shades and bass guitar? His solo debut was an odd affair and not well received. This psychedelic tribute to Joe Orton was a prelude to his debut long player Etiquette Of Violence was ignored by many at the time, including most Bauhaus die-hards. I don't think I have ever ripped and posted this 12" single version before. A1 Joe Orton's Wedding A2 Requiem For Joe B1   The Gospel According To Fear B2 Point Of Departure David J And The J Walkers - The Promised Land [GLASS 031 UK 1983 24-Bit FLAC] The Promised Land from the debut LP was re-recorded with a full band, featuring his brother Kevin and a number of Jazz Butchers, for who J had just joined as bassist. This was a highly entertaining ditty chronicling the downfall of Bauhaus. This is a new 24-bit rip of my original 7" single. A1 The Promised La...
