Cosmic Analog Ensemble - Expo Botanica [HST102 FRA 2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
The back pages of Needle Time are scattered with occasional modern obscurities which snatch influences from the more kitsch moments in musical history. From the Bandcamp generation comes Lebanese musician Charif Megarbane, who dares to be different by recording with analogue instruments, compared to many of his peers who chose to compose and record on their laptops.
Mergabane plays all the guitars, bass, percussion, Moog & Mellotron, drums, organs, synths & a sitar on this delightfully groovy album reflecting on French & Italian movie scores, with random funky breaks, but all with a touch of Lebanese spice. Enjoy.

ReplyDeleteMany thanks for this! Didn't know anything about it. Definitely has a slightly kitch Morricone vibe in places, but not so much as to be obnoxious (which even Morricone could be). Nice melodies and arrangements. Really super interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe analog aspect reminds me of ORKA from the Faroe Islands. Same analog instrument concept. I highly recommend 'Vað' from 2016.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant
ReplyDeleteCheers mate
