Was it always wrong to think of The Alan Parsons Project as over-sophisticated, intelligent rock music for geography & science lecturers? - if Steely Dan were yacht-rock, the The Alan Parsons Project must have been cardigan & corduroy-rock. Is it now okay, as I 'mature' ungracefully to admit having an ALP album in my collection? I thought if I could get away with ELO last week, then why not ALP this.

Occasionally an album is well worth the listen for the quality of composition, musicianship and production value, that is my excuse and I am going to stick with it. This Mobile Fidelity 2022 remaster came cheaply my way to replace a five pound charity shop purchase from decades ago and ripped quite well. It certainly sounds good on playback through the hi-fi from my media drive. Fans of American basketball will recognize (sic) the opening Sirius, the title track was a worldwide soft-rock smash hit in 1982, lovers of  electronic krautrock will need to hear Mammagamma, I do also have soft spots for the gentler duo of Gemini and Silence And I  ...and that'll be it for me. Others may prefer others......

One thing I have noticed is that the recently chastened MoFi declare this release as transferred from the original 30IPS  half-inch analogue master tape, when other sources suggest that the album was mixed through an analogue desk directly to digital tape.
