Womancat Wensday

LORI:  I love the aquarium hood!

But sometimes, the cat bed next to TBT's bed is good at might.

Answers...  I showed Lori in the cat bed.  Well, it is actually a dog bed by size.

Pilch said "You have room for a friend in there".  Brain said "Hello sweet Lori, you got room for two more in there".

There is a story there.  And it is about Lapis Lazuli.  Many of you know that "Laz" came here troubled from a previous home.  A rescuer offered him to me knowing that I was patient with "unwanted" cats and (being retired) could spend time healing him.

He came with "demons in his mind" due to being raised with pit bulls and grabby children.

He was a trembling mess at first.  For weeks he hid in The Mews Room.  But he finally started trusting again.  Meanwhile, I was seeking a Tonkie because Iza had died young and I wanted another.  I found one (Lori).

Laz had been aggressive toward the other cats, but he found an attachment to young Lori.  After a couple months, they were nearly inseparable.  They ate together, napped together, played together.

Especially, they napped all day and slept all night together.  It was wonderful.

Laz was calm.  Lori was happy...  I was thrilled at their BFF relationship.

It lasted for a few months.  Then suddenly Laz started attacking Ayla and then Lori.  His demons had returned.  After a few months of stuggle, I had to release him from the demons...

So back to the bed...  Lori avoided it for a year after.  I'm sure she had memories of it, both good and bad.

A couple of months ago, I saw Lori sleeping in the bed.  I'm not sure if Laz's smell had faded or whether she found some good memories.  But she has been sleeping there at night more often lately.

Lori is not likely to share space in the bed with any of the other Mews anytime soon.  She likes Marley, but he doesn't seem to like the bed himself.

Lori has been adjusting more to Taz and Binq lately.  There are more nose-and butt-sniffings the past couple months.  They can all sit nearby without "fussies".  Things are improving.

But I'm not sure Lori will ever share the cat bed with anyone again...

Flashback Friday

Well, let's go back only a few years this time.  It it is this week in 2020...

The cat bed was popular for a while...  Marley spent time in it.

As did Ayla.

Marley has always liked the ottoman.  It was large enough for him.  And of course Iza always loved The Lap.  I never imagined she would be leaving in just a couple weeks.  Some sort of sudden internal hemmorage...  It is hard to imagine it has been 5 years now.   😢

She was always so happy on The Lap.  Calm and restful...

And the Pansies were still blooming!

Womancat Wensday

BINQ:  I must have ignored this bed every day I've been here.  But suddenly, it just seemed good.

Now, when TBT doesn't know where I am, he knows where to look first!

Twofur Tuesday

The Ls:  We are enjoyin the old cat bed a lot lately.

TBT tells us Ayla slept in it often before we arrived.  So did Iza.

In fact he says it goes back to Skeeter's early days, but he didn't make good labels then so he cant find those pics right now...

Twofur Tuesday

Laz and Lori used to sleep together in the red cat bed.

But they stopped and I was worried there was "trouble in paradise".  Well, now I suspect it was just a bit crowded as Lori grew larger.  And they still napped together on the bed sometimes (but can't when I take over the bed.

I bought a large bed for Marley years ago because he was so large (the vet says 16 lbs; my digital scale says 18 sometimes).  He never liked it (preferring the platform tree I built for Skeeter and LC a long time.  And Laz and Lori ignored it.  It was actually a doggie bed, though of course no doggie ever slept in  it.  Maybe it was too large for them.

Well, they have suddenly decided that the old "doggie" bed is now the best place to sleep at night!  They both fit in "purrfectly"...

I am very glad to see them sleeping together again!

Twofur Tuesday

LAZ:  Lori is a constant nap-mate.  TBT is constantly amazed.  Well, yeah, I was mean ta Ayla fer almost a year, but I was tryin ta find my position in the new house (and things hadnt gone well in the previous one).  But some Big Moons ago, I really wanted someone ta play with.

It sure wasnt gonna be Ayla (though I tried, she hasn't forgiven me yet).  Marley is very big and strong.  He played.  But he considers one of his main jobs is to fight off introoder cats, so his play was kinna rough.  And he almost weighs 2 of ME!

When Lori arrived, we were all kind of cautious.  None of us had seen a kitten fer longer than we could remember (I was about 3 when I arrived in 2020, Iza was "almost adult" when she arrived in 2010, and Marley was all kinds of peaceful when young (and now too except for introoders).

So we weren't quite sure what was allowed.  Fortunately, Lori let us know from the first week out of The Mews room!  She pounced us ALL.  She played with our tails.  She ran around batshit chasin toys.  She ambushed us.

Which was pretty funny considerin that even Ayla was double her weight.  So yeah, she is fearless...

An I needed a friend like that!  We have been playing and chasin each other around almost from the start.  She is mostly the "chaser", but I kinna like that.  She jumps on me (which is purrfectly OK) and I run off and she follows.  We ran crazy all over the house!

Sometimes I grab her (gentlecatly) and she turns over to offer 4 paws of claws.  Dang she is fierce!  And the best part is that when we are both tired out, I go to a catbed on the floor of the bedroom and she curls up next to me!  WE are kindred spirits of rambunctious play and Nap.  I LOVE her...

Sometimes we sleep there together longer than even TBT stays in bed at night.

TBT:  Cat preferences are funny sometimes.  That cat bed goes back to Skeeter's time.  And no where I put it, it was ignored until this year.  Lax napped in it once and Lori joined him there after a crazy chase through the house and a late night meal.  They have adopted it as "their place".

I don't know what will happen as Laz and Lori both get older, of course, but they are sure "bestie's" for now.  I hope it lasts their lifetimes.

Skeeter and LC were like that their entire lives together, so I have hopes...

Flashback Friday

THE MEWS:   Today we visit the past, but, for once, only a year ago.  Well, sometimes change is good...

TBT had finished building the marker for Iza's.  The brass letters arrived later.  It was the last of the brown resin cat threesome (and he cant find more) so ours will be different (many years from now).

Marley temporarily loved the doggie bed.  No doggie ever slept in it and he was 18 pounds, so it seemed a good fit.
TBT painted some terra-cotta pots bloo. And Ayla posed behind them showing her approval...  She allus loves bloo.
TBT tried cross-grafting some tomatoes.  It failed.  Hid paws are too unsteady with a razor blade.  But he still tries every year.  He thinks he lets them get too large before trying.  He is doing it earlier this year.

We'll go back ta older stuff in the future (isn't "older stuff in the future" an odd thought?), but we liked these pics for today.

PS, Happy Tabby Day.  We (Marley and Laz) are "sort of" tabby.  We will claim enough to celebrate the day.

Thankful Thursday

AYLA:  First, we want to to thank Ann of Zoolatry for our wonderful new header.  It is so beautiful!

After that, I am sad Iza had to leave.  We had our differences.  But I am thankful she had a long life.  I am thankful that Marley is still here.  I am thankful that TBT is here.

I am thankful for my food.  I am thankful for clean litterboxes.  I am thankful for the little bed that rests on TBTs bed.  I like to sleep near him.
I am thankful for the shelter of the house on windy and rainy and chilly days.

I am thankful for The Lap.  Even if I don't stay long when TBT moves.

I am thankful for the cat trees in the house.  Both the platforms and huts...
I am thankful for the moles and voles and mousies in the yard.  And I am thankful for the yard.  And the big tall fence that keeps the big doggies out.  And that gives me a place to sit up on.

I am thankful for love and friends.

Old Is The New New

AYLA:  Sometimes it is nice ta discover old stuff.  It suddenly seems new.  This bed was available for several years and none of us used it.  That it got covered with stuff.  So TBT uncovered it, moved it to a new place right next to the big watery bed, and I went right in.
I've really been enjoying it there lately.  I like that the inside is the same color as my furs!  I feel less visible that way.  Oh I know Iza and Marley can find me easily enough if they are trying, but sometimes Im pretty sure they dont see me.

Womancat Wensday

AYLA:  We never liked the Cat Bed TBT set out in various places over the years (bought for Skeeter and LC)...
But a few old towels on it in the bedroom make a difference!
Suddenly it is "just right" for both of us...

Womancat Wensday

AYLA:  There has been this cat bed sitting around the house for longer than Ive been here; mebbe Skeeter or LC used ta sleep in it.  TBT moves it around sometimes, but none of us sleep in it.  Well, after TBT moved the bedroom stuff around, he had this old wooden box sitting in the far corner and tossed the bed on it ta get it off the floor so he could use the sucky machine.

Now, ya have ta realize that the bedroom is sort of MY purrsonal territory during the day (it is everyones at night).  And I'm allus looking fer new places ta nap in the daytime.

So I gave the bed a sniff and curled up.  Its actally rather comfy...
Apparently, it was "The Right Spot" fer it, finally.
I enjoyed it...
So guess who decided that if it was good enough fer ME, SHE had ta give it a try?
I'm sure she slept there that night just because SHE noticed *I* liked it!  I DO admit she fills it properly though...
But I havent curled up in it since then!!!  And neither has she.
