Garden Tour Thursday

LAZ:

Welcome to The Garden Tour!  I will be your guide today.  Ayla and Marley are preparing the snacks.

There isn't much left.  We had a hard freeze couple days ago (Bast it was cold and windy)!  This is my first time feeling cold outside, and TBT says it will get worse more several full moons.

But the Marygolds are still blooming, so lets take a walk-around ta see them.

We sure got a LOT.  TBT just tossed around seeds he saved last from last year and they grew.  He dint actually PLANT a single one.

He says they used to be hybrids and ya ca see that some are getting a bit different after several years of doing that.  Some are orangier than others.  Dont ask ME ta explain - I dont even know why Marley an Ayla look differnt from ME!  It is some of that Secret Bein Knowledge...
This colorful pile is stuff TBT cut out from around the house.
This pot of Mums is still  blooming, but not for long.  They will get moved to a flowerbed soon.  I unnerstand that, who doesn't like beds?

Well, lets see what Ayla an Marley have provided fer snacks...  Hmmm, minced ham, poached chickie breasts with a bit of crumbled bacon, some crunchies, and some bowls of warmish water (well it IS kinna cold today) with crushed Nip leafs in it.  Not bad!

Thanks for coming along on our Garden Tour...

    ---------------

Pee Ess, we are just not getting through with comments.  They just fail.  TBT says he is just going to have a day of misery and frustration trying to figure out why and not expecting much good results.  But he will try.  Next stop is the computer store and they want a week just to look at it.

We can post, but not comment.  Well, at least there will be posts...

Garden Tour Thursday

MARLEY AND LAZ:  We are both trying to learn more about leading The Garden Tour.  Iza usually did it, but she had to leave rather suddenly.  I (Marley) have some experience and Laz wants to learn more, so we are taking advantage of the last few weeks to practice.  So, forgive us if not the best Tour ever...

Mostly, what we have are Marigolds...  LOTS of Marigolds!
It is supposed to be a "Meadow Bed" but that isnt werkin out real good.

Fortunately, TBT tossed saved seeds from marigolds in pots last year and decided ta just toss them around in the bed ta see what would happen.

Ya can see these on the edge up close.  Theyre nice.

An there are LOTS of them all over the bed.  TBT is gonna save lots of those seeds too for next year (mebbe toss them somewhere else).
There are weeds, but there are more marigolds.
I (Marley) especially like that he appreciates orange flowers.  They match my furs.  And they are good camoflage when hunting mousies in there.

That made Laz a bit sad, so I pointed out that his Meezer tan chest and tabby stripes hide him among the dying spiky leaves and grass.  That got him all cheerful again.  He wants ta catch a mousie SO MUCH.

LAZ:  Yeah, camoflage, that's what I need.  I wanna grab a mousie SO MUCH!

MARLEY:  Ya ca see some of the other flowers in the bed.  There are Black-Eyed Susans and some Sunflowers.

And these different orange ones.  We don't know what they are, though some friends have made some good guesses that all seen possible.  Tickweed, Coeopsis, Nyger Thistle...
Well, let's go up on the deck.  Ayla an TBT have been preparing some snacks.  And there are some potted flowers there to see while we wait.  Some Yellow Pansies have survived the Summer and might start flowering again.  Mebbe Pink Mums werent the best color ta put with them, but TBT didnt expect the Pansies to last so long.
Besides, pink doesnt go with many other colors.  So he put Orange and Red in one pot...
And Yellow and Red in another...

They were SUPPOSED to be Burgundy and Gold (for the "Washington DC Football Team" colors),  but TBT said when you buy unbloomed flowers on clearance for $1 a pot, ya get what ya get.

Now let's see what Ayla and TBT chose as snacks...  OK, minced poached chickie breast sprinkled with bacon bits.  Cool!  Shrimpie-flavored crunchies.  Cool.  Water.  Water?  Oh wait, it has crushed fresh Nip leaves in it!

Thanks for coming along on out Garden Tour!

Garden Tour Thursday

MARLEY:  Well, things are getting a bit odd.  Ayla no longer likes ta go outside.  TBT and I only realized that a few days ago.  In fact, she seldom comes out of the 3 back rooms.   More about that another day.

So for now, I will be doing the Garden Tour.  The good part is that I am learning about the flowers.  The bad part is that I don't know much about them AND it had been a hard year for flowers with the daily rain...

So lets go out and see what we can find!   We will start on the deck...  A pansy from last year is still blooming!   Apparently they like wet weather more than *I* do!
The Black-Eyed-Susans have been blooming all Summer.  Yo will see patches of them in many spots as my go around the yard.
This is some strange flower that was BIG yesserday but is not today.  TBT tells me sme flowers are a day and some are months.   Maybe that is why we have just one of this.
The Butterfly bushes are doing well.  They are usally full of butterflies, but they run when they see me coming.  Er, maybe I shouldnt have caught a few...
The Asters are blooming.  TBT says he would put up holders for them, but they look like weeds before they bloom.   Om the other paw, that gets them down to our level better.
This is some sort of sunflower.  If it looks a bit weak, its cuz we havent had much sun.  I'm guessing by the name that they like sun.
There are more than one, but they are all from one plant.
I think this is a thistle.  TBT scaterred a bunch of Goldfinch thistle seeds by mistake 2 years ago.  Some still show up.
More thistles...
We scatterred some saved marigold seeds in the meadow bed last April (I helped).  Some grew.   I like the colors but they smell a bit strong.  But pretty is pretty...
We have more thistles than I realized.  Well, normally I keep my head down looking fer mousies, so I dint realize.
There is a cucumber in the garden!  TBT has picked 2 and waiting for this one ta get bigger.  He likes them.  I sniffed one and couldn't tell any good smell.
Of 10 tomato plants, only 3 are alive.  2 have A fruit. I don't smell anything innerestin in THEM either, but TBT acts like they are shrimps wrapped in bacon.  Go figure...
The other one...
Some flowers.  But the weeds won this year.
This is a Sedum.  It's the transplant from Iza's Spot.  It BETTER look good, just fer her.
Well, that's the Garden Tour friends.  I hope I did OK.  I have a lot ta learn about flowers.

Meanwhile, Laz chose the treats for us today.  Umm, his favrit kibble...  Well, can't win them all.  OH WAIT, here comes TBT with crushed bacon and a tray of dried NIP and some bowl of toona juice!  The snacktime may yet be saved...

Thanks for coming along on the Garden Tour.

Garden Tour Thursday

MARLEY:  Welcome to our Garden Tour.  I will be your guide this week.  It is a bit hot out (14th day in a row over 90F), but we are getting some afternoon shade, so it wont be too bad.
First, we have these daisies wild in the garden.  We are leaving them there because they will attract some pollinator buggies.
One garden bed is a nursery for plants that will go elsewhere when they grow big and strong.  There are some Mums and a False Bamboo TBT dug up to see if wild shoots would transplant well.  They do.  Also there is this Knockout rose blooming nicely.
The Daylilies are colorful.  BTW, that one that looked greenish last time is actually very pale yellow.  But it has a green center an the camera can see that better up close.  Plus it seems to reflect the green leaves around it.
But mostly today we will be looking at veggies.  Dont go all "yuck, veggies".  They ARE growing things and CAN look rather pretty.  Here you can see the whole garden.
The corn plants are growing nicely considering they are only 2 weeks old.
These cucumber plants will grow up the trellis.  That way, they take up little room and are easy to pick.
Same for these flat italian pole beans.
The tomaters are growing fast.  They are all heirlooms.  Fewer tomaters, but TBT says they taste better.  Not like WE are going ta eat any of course...
And there are leeks growing.  They are a kind of onion (NOW ya can say "yuck").
Some yellow squash.  We will leave only the strongest seedling.  TBT likes them M/W with onions an tomaters an oregano.

Well, thats enough, it IS kinna hot out here.  Lets go up on the shady deck an see what Ayla and Laz have for us...

Ooh, salmon!  And minced ham with bacon bits.  And there are Niptinis with (sniff, sniff) toona juice.  Of course, plain water (with toona juice) for anny kittens or non-nippers.  Oh and look at THIS!  A big bowl with some rattley balls ta paw around an make some noise...

Thank you for coming along on this weeks Garden Tour.  We expect ta get back ta mostly flowers next time.
