Lori Tuesday About Sunday And Then Monday

TBT:  First if you didn't see yesterday's late post, read it HERE.  Then comment there and read and comment here.  😁

This week is pretty much dedicated to pictures of Lori and her adjustment here.  But before I get into that, I want to thank Ann for being here for the event.  We met for a luncheon with a couple other cat-bloggers years ago and have stayed in touch by email since.  I wasn't sure if the breeder would suddenly decide I wasn't a good cat-daddy when she arrived, and Ann's presence calmed me.  I like to cook, and I slightly calmed myself (waiting for the breeder to arrive) by smoking a pork shoulder and a whole chicken on the deck.  And we had a GREAT 4 hour visit.  So some pictures of her on arrival and holding Lori later.  And we had a great lunch after.

Forgive the poor pictures.  I think I need a better camera.  Ann has a couple of really good ones.  Like hers are Teslas and mine are old Kias...  I better start using my smart phone camera, at least.  Ann has been providing the good banners I use.  To make another analogy, she is an artiste and I am 7th grade colored pencils.  Thank you Ann...

Onward...

I spent 15 minutes time with Lori as soon as I got up.  She seems happy.  I tossed a spring across the carpet and she played with it before coming up on my lap.  So I thought it time she met Marley close up.  Marley hates being picked up (weight, joints?).  But I carried him into The Mews Room anyway.  He was, of course, completely relaxed about Lori.  They sniffed noses and butts.

Marley wasn't bothered by "a new cat" in the least.

THEY are going to get along great.

Lori eventually got a little concerned about The Giant Cat, but she didn't hiss or anything.

They got close a few times and Marley was "merely interested"...

THAT shows the difference in size!

All was calm.  But Marley hates being in a room with a closed door, so I let him out after 10 minutes.  The good news is that (as I expected) Marley is not the least bit aggressive even to a kitten.  I will try Ayla later today.

I have been rubbing the fur of the adult Mews and then rubbing Lori, and vice versa.  Spread the household scent around, you know?

I'm 14!

AYLA:  Wow, I've been around a while...

So lets have a PARTY!

Lots of boxes!

Lots of bags!

Many cats paintings. Bag Ladies - Braldt Bralds

And of course treats. toys and ladders...

PawTree Cat Food - The Super Food Your Kitten or Cat Need ...

It will be a GREAT 14th.  I hope you will come and join me and us in the celebration.  Each year is happier to experience than the one before.  Like, this year Laz is kinna new and friendly than last year.

BTW, the best places ta teleport out are the big flat screen TV, the computer monitor, and the empty kitchen cabinet near the stove.  I don't know why about that last one, but it is empty, so mebbe nothin ta land on badly.

An we have 78 cans of stinky goodness an a WHOLE BAG  of Meow Mix Crunchies  (we newly love those) and 4 litter boxes fresh-cleaned.  And TBT is on scoop detail.

So come  one and all!

VET!

MARLEY:  Iza and I went to the vet today, GRRR.  TBT caught me off guard.  He lured me into his litter room and SHUT THE DOOR!  When he opened it, I tried to run but he grabbed me (wearing leather gloves) and shoved me into the PTU that he had put RIGHT THERE at the door.

I got squeezed and stabbed at the Vet but it wasnt too bad.

Iza had it worse.   She are been having the sickies since the visit last week.  Turned up her nose at some foods and couldnt keep down what she DID eat.  She lost 8 oz in a week!  The Vet Lady says she might have that annoyed bowel thing.  So she got 3 shots.  One fer helping keep her food in, one fer nausea, and a B-12.  And she got her ears cleaned too because of the grease TBT rubs in them.

Thyroid, blood pressure, kidneys, and now her tummy...

Send Iza some purrs.

Thankful Thursday

We are ALL thankful that our annual V-E-T visit is over (yesterday).  We weren't expecting it (TBT is getting trickier).  We used to go in a mad rush in early mornings, but now he did it mid-day when everything seemed normal.

And by "tricky" we mean that he led each of us into the hardest rooms ta hide in when it was time for lunch kibbles which we are just now enjoying regularly.  So suddenly, we were each in small rooms and trapped!  Oh we KNOW that part, but he did it so calmly and one of us at a time!

And then set out the PTUs...

MARLEY:  He came for me first.  I realized what was happening, and hid in the shower stall but he found me right off.  And when I saw the PTU, I knew I was doomed.  I still fought, but he got me in it.

AYLA:  TBT came for me next.  I'm wily, but he is wilier.  He opened the door where I was and puched the PTU part in.  He KNEW I would jump over it because thats what I do when Marley or Iza are too slow to go out the open deck door, and he when just where to hold a large towel to wrap me up.  Then he carried me to another room where he had MY PTU waiting.  I got a couple of scratches in, but he heals fast.  I got slid right in.  It is hard when you are so small.

IZA:  Hearing Marley and Ayla complaining, I knew there wasn't much point in fighting it.  I let him pick me up and while I did spread my legs all around, he got me into my own PTU.  I was saving my fight for later...

So we all got carried into the big noisy moving machine.  But we agreed not to sing the song of our people on the way.  That kinna spooked him a bit, MOL!

Once there, we realized we were in a DIFFERENT PLACE and we were more than usually concerned.  But it was the same VET.

MARLEY:  I was put on the table (in the PTU) first.  I REALLY had TBT worried (score one for me).  I started hyperventilating and making soft hooing noises and got him to leak his eyes a bit.  I ignored him when he tried to talk to me, too.  Serves him right!

But the VETS (a new one) came out and I got pulled out of the PTU.  I got the usual embarassing probes and shots and forced looks at my mouth and ears and all.  But the old VET did the shots, and as weerd as it may seem, that was slightly comforting.  I weigh almost 14 pounds and was declared "very healthy".  I could have just told them that, ya know?  They clipped my claws too.  How am I supposed ta grab mousies with dull claws?  But I was finally allowed back in the PTU.

AYLA:  I came out of the PTU, easily.  I was facing away from the door, and TBT just cradled my hips and slid me right out.  So a Meow of advice to others, "face forward".  It's harder for them ta get you out that way.

But I also got the same treatment Marley did.  And I was equally glad to willingly run back into the PTU after.  I am 6.4 pounds just like I have been for years, and the VET said I was completely healthy.

IZA:  Well, I sure didn't have it as easy as Marley and Ayla did!  Fer starters, I fought to stay in the PTU.  It took TWO BEINS ta get me out.  And they had ta werk to get my weight.  I don't mind that at home, because TBT just holds we, and I like that.  They hadda take 3 tries and take the one in the middle.  I'm sorta 10 pounds.

But the the new lady VET just gushed about how bootiful I was and what smooth fur I have, and held me a bit.  That was good.

But I went through all the same stuff that Marley and Ayla did.  And then EXTRA stuff and that dint seem fair.  See, TBT had told them some of his concerns and problems, and they did that extra stuff  (squeezing the sides of my butt) and  I even got stabbed an extra time, so I couldnt help but suddenly bunny-kick the lady Vet.  And iffen I do say so myself, Im really good at it.  She needed a bandage.

And it took the 2 VETS AND TBT ta hold me down while they clipped my claws...  They even took a look up my nosie and squeezed me all over.  It was horrible.

But I was finally released to run back into the PTU!  Wow.  I'm glad it will be a years before all that happens again (and I hope he forgets next time).
  ____________

It was 4 hours before anny of us went NEAR TBT at home again,  Marley and I just stayed away, but Ayla ran annytime he came near and hid is her special spots til dinnertime.  Food and treats DO return things to normal.

  ____________

TBT here:   The Mews are all in great health and seem to have forgiven me for their unwanted VET trip.  But it's important of course.  Iza has wheezing problems and digestive problems, but he can't find a cause for them.  He says it might be an allergy to some canned food ingredient.  I'm going to call the Vet office back and ask about tests for that.

But there is something else I want to mention.  Dr Miller is retiring in a few months.  I suspected that when he combined his practice with the other Vet in town just after our annual visit last year.  Dr Miller has taken care of my cats for 32 years.  He is the one who found the cause of the 2 failed spay operations Ayla went through with another vet and removed a remnant half of her uterus and 1 complete ovary that was rotting inside her.

When he told me that yesterday, I mentioned an obscure event about LC from decades ago and he replied about it without a seconds hesitation.  He knows everything about all the cats he has ever treated.

He is the one who realized that LCs inside ears were not naturally black, but an infestation of ear-mites (which caused her eyes to close shut from "seepings").  He is the one who sent Skeeter over The Bridge so gently that I think Skeeter did not even know of it.  He is the one who cried with me when I rushed LC into his office and shouted "emergency" and tried to keep her alive and failed.  Turned out she had a fatal stroke...

The Mews will not see him again and they probably won't notice the difference.  I will call the office to see if there will be a retirement party his clients can attend.  If so, I'll bring a small notebook of pictures of my cats that he treated.

32 years is a long time to have the same vet.  I'm going to miss him.

Friday Catch Up

Ooh, ya know how ya get an idea fer a post and add stuff ya think of but ferget the ORIGINAL reason fer the post?  Yeah, we did that.

We started the Comment and Questions post earlier this week thinking about a question about Henrietta Hippo.   It was Hugo Hippo.  Sorry we got it wrong before.

And then forgot to explain about that...  So, we are correcting that.

So here are some of the pictures of the January 2011 visit.

Iza taught him how to play" catlike".
Showing how she graps prey.  As a hippo, of course, he was much too large for her.
But she showed "chase from behind"...
Pawing...
And surprise pawing!

Hugo thought this was great information for life in the wild!

Hugo really loved Marley.  Marley was brand new here, and Hugo was the first to know he was here.
Hugo was sent along to the next person on the list he arrived with.  We added a simple memento of the visit (a postcard of Maryland Crabs).  We don't know where he went after that.  We think it was Darling Millie, and he went off into the Quilting Universe from her place...

Injury Interlude, 1

Well, TBT  overused or lost his back a couple days ago.  OK, he said "threw out his back".  We have no idea why he did THAT, and we spent a couple days looking for it without success.  Mainly, it means he cant chase us around taking pictures and he makes weerd sounds when he bends over to put our food bowls on the floor.

So we decided that it might be a good time to post some old pictures taken this week in past years until he gets better...

From January 30, 2011 -

We were having a visit from Henrietta Hippo.  She was here when Marley arrived and was quite impressed watching how a new cat adjusted to a house and other cats!
Here you can see how much smaller Marley was than Iza.  He was a small as Ayla!
But unner his watchful eye,  Ayla and Iza were getting along better, even sitting next to each other on the cat tree.

CardDay Caturday Saturday

Sometimes, when we get eCards from friends among all the greeting comments on our Special Days, we dont think to acknowledge the efforts ta make the cards.

So...  We were looking back and noticed that this morning.  And we want to acknoWOWledge those now.  Hey was that good or what?

But here are 2 we found back up...

I (Ayla) loved this card.  The cake was cute, the number 9  was a really good touch, and while the pink outsides looked like walnuts, they were actually crushed Nip Leafs!  And the insides were Salmon...

And the whole card was just SO special!  I felt great about MY DAY!
And there was the Gotcha Day card...  Iza and Ayla (we have to write this together) loved it!  Having our Gotcha Day the same day (though a year apart) is unusual, but it amused TBT ta arrange it that way.  Purrsonally, we think he did it ta keep things easier fer him ta remember (he did the same with Skeeter and LC - The Cats Who Came Before).

But regardless, the card was utterly lovely and right for the season, too!  That shows some care.
Thank you for both the cards and previous ones), the former WeBeesSiameezers and now Meezer's Mews & Freckles Woofs

If you haven't visited them, go visit them now!
