Flashback Friday

Since it is International Friendship Day, for THIS Flashback Friday we found "friendship pictures" from this day in 2011...

Ayla had just had her 3rd spay operation (finally successful).  That inflatable collar was a lot better than "the cone of shame".

The Mews were all eating together all friendly-like.

And playing together friendly.

And napping in the cat trees friendly.

And Ayla and Iza even did some friendly cuddling!

Happy International Friendship Day.

Caturday Saturday

TBT HERE:    Yesterday, I posted a old picture with The Mews wearing collars.  I gave up on that.  They just pulled them off (usually outside) and I just couldn't bring myself to make them tight enough to prevent it.

But you may have noticed that Iza had 3 bells on her collar.

I did that because she would quietly come behind me and sit while I was preparing my dinner.  And when I eventually innocently stepped back, she would get pushed with a foot or a tail stepped on (and I hasten to assure you that I learned to step carefully to detect anything that wasn't "floor").

So I thought yu might enjoy this...

After one Christmas, I bought a 100 jingle bells in a bag for $1.  I intended to attach them all around her collar so I would always know where she was.  Talk about "Belling The Cat"!  Well, I experimented with double-stick tape and attaching bells all around her collar.

I think she understood what my intent was.  She walked carefully and quietly during that day,  And in the middle of the night she came up on the bed and shook her neck until she "jingled" me awake.

Dang she was a smart cat.  She KNEW what she was doing!  I took the bells off.  Later, I took all the collars off.

Some cats tolerate collars.  Some cats seem to actually like them.  I've given up on them.

Flashback Friday

This week in 2011, I finally got spayed properly!  It took 3 tries.  The first 2 were by the breeder's vet.  Our own vet Dr Jeffrey did it right after I got all infected.I hated the cone, though.
Dr Nurse was also nice.
And TBT was SOOOOO happy!
They took a chunk of me out that had been missed by that other guy...
Marley was nice to me when I got home.   And TBT had changed the cone to the inflatable collar.  Thats a lot more comfortable...
Even Iza was nice to me!
I got lots of soft chewy treats and attention from TBT.

Flashback Friday

IZA:  It was this week in 2009.  I had just had my Ladygardenectomy.  TBT had ta put this awful cone on my head so I wouldnt pull out the stitches.  I hated it!  The only time it came off was dinnertimes!
So TBT tried making a "onesie" fer me.  That was better, but I could get at the stitches.  And he SHOULD have decorated it BEFORE he put it on me!
Then he found an inflatable collar (for small dogs) and that werked really well!  I could eat and poop normally.
But I sure was happy ta get it off...

Flashback Friday

AYLA:  Todays flashback is from this date in 2011!  (Side note:  See all that stuff on the floor?  Iza had just finished tearing apart an egg carton)

I was feeling unusually friendly that evening.  I joined Iza on TBTs lap.
And even stayed there after she moved around some!
Then a little later, I went over and gave Marley some power-grooming.   He has a nice smile when happy, doesnt he?
I really got into it...
A possible problem with these pictures, though.  TBT is now noticing how nice we looked with our colorful collars!   I hope that doesnt give him anny ideas.

Jumpin High

MARLEY:  I'm not the "effortless levitator" that Ayla is, but I finally HAVE gotten strong enough ta get up ta many of the places she thought were all her own.  Like the shoe rack ...  A few months ago, I could only jump up ta the middle shelf, an now I can get ta the top where the folded up towels (an sometimes food) are.

Needless ta say, Ayla is not thrilled.  I mean, we really DO get along great, but she thought that was HER private spot.

Its HER fault, of course.  Sometimes she wants ta eat her dinner on her own up on the shoe rack.  But she doesnt allus clean her bowl (somethin she used ta be famous for).  And I will follow the smell of food ANNYWHERE.  So I kept tryin to get UP there.  The first few times, I almost made it but ended up hanging from the top rack by my front paws, then droppin back ta the floor 5 feet below.
So, as ya can see, I can jump up there now.  I dont look all THAT thrilled, do I?
Thats because there is no foods up here this time!  What I smelled was a little blot of spillover from when there WAS food up here.
NOW, I gotta get down.  Which is not all that easy.  Its 5 feet down ta the floor.  Or over 3 feet down an 2 feet over ta the bed.  Ya know somethin?  It looks further DOWN than it looked UP!  Jumpin onto the bed is weerd cuz its a waterbed and it sinks and shakes when ya jump down on it.  Ayla lands softly like a shoe.  I land like a bowling ball.  I need ta watch Ayla more ta see how she does it.
Meanwhile, I think I'll just sit here until TBT comes by, and ask him for a lift ta the floor...

 -------------------

About the collars (from yesserday):  Well, first, our collars are on VERY loose.  TBT has a dread of us feelin restricted or even aware of them.  He makes sure several fingers fit under them without even pressing our furs.  Second, so they tend to come off still attached at the ends when we wrassle or even just scratch our necks.  In fact, TBT is convinced that Ayla can just walk right through her collar annytime she wants ("The Cat Who Walks Through Collars").  It DOES take me a little more effort.  Actally, Ayla LIKES her "pretty bloo collar", so shes not TRYIN ta get out of it.

Me, I kinna like mine too (it matches my eyes an several girlcats have commented on that), but Id rather not wear one. Im just not into BLING...

Lastly, we thought TBT would never find our collars, but ya know what?
