LC: The Big Thing says tomorrow is "the meteor-illogical Spring". We aren't sure what that means except he says it is getting warmer. Well, we are sure happy about that! I like going outside better the last few lights and even Skeeter will go out with The Big Thing and me to just walk around.
I like being outside when allowed. The ponmds are still covered with the hard cold stuff. I'm careful about that. I walked on it once many big moons ago and I fell inna cold water. The Big Thing was out there with me (as he almost always is), an he grabbed me out and brought me inside, wrapped me up in cloths and praclly sat on me until I was all dry and warm again.
I shivered a bit but it was OK. But I am real careful about that stuff now. I dont get out on it any more. THat's why it bothered me when the whole yard was covered init a half moon or so ago. You can't trust that hard cold stuff AT ALL!
An that's one reason The Big Thing goes out with us in tricksey times like this. We 'preciate that. He unnerstands that stuff better than we do.
It is nice when Skeeter comes out, too. He doen't usually. But if it isn't too bad out (and The Big Thing goes out) he will join us.
He actually likes it outside, but only if he feels really safe. He sniffs at the opening of the hard clear thing. If it smells cold, he won't go out even with me. I miss that. I mean, I like runnin cross the whole yard and jumpin on him. I can really knock him over that way! But I cant do that when he wont come out...
So I cant wait for this warm Spring thing to happen again so he will come out.
The Big Thing stays outside in warmer weather, too, an we both like that a lot.

Kitty Condo Improvement
Skeeter: LC can go outside in the cold fluffy stuff (and then complain about it) if she wants, but I am more concerned with the in-the-cave stuff. I really like the lower platform, but I told The Big Thing that the taller 2 ones shake when I get up on them and I didn't like that. He wasn't sure what I went, so when I wasn't paying attention, he picked me up an put me on the top one. He could have just believed me! To be fair, he did try to coax me up to it on my own, but I wouldn't go up there even for kitty-crack. As I tried to move, it did the little shakey thing. He was surprised! At least he picked me up after and sat inna chair and scratched me for a long time. Then he gave me a couple kitty treats that I like but LC doesnt.
He says he unnerstands he made some mistakes. I have to type this carefully cause I don't unnerstand all the words: "The metal braces are too springy, the 2x4s are too narrow an should be 4x4, there should be a board attaching the posts, the posts shouldnt be carpetted, an old carpet is too stiff to wrap tightly, an he made it too big".
So, he went inna the basement after an started making a couple of wood things to make them not shake. An he says that is only a "for now" thing cause he is goin to build a new one now that he has seen the problems. Hurray!

More Cold Fluffy Stuff!
LC: Oooh, it makes me all hissy! The Big Thing said it was gonna rain a little today, so I went out. I dont mind rain like Skeeter does. An I can always sit unner the Kitty Shelter when it does.
But the cold fluffy stuff started falling instead. Big clumps of it as big as my pom-pom toys! It doesn't hurt when it lands on we, but it sticks to my fur and melts wetter than rain an my pawsies get all cold steppin in it! I glared at him when I came back in an shook it all over the floor. He just laffed.
He did say he was only tellin me what he heard on the sparkly box. Spossed to be fluffy stuff further away and rain here. He should know better than to trust the sparkly box. It lies sometimes!
After we watched the fluffy stuff not become rain for a while, it covered effrything up. Then the sparkly box said it wouldnt get deep. It was wrong about that too! Stupid thing, if it is gonna say something, it oughtta know what it is saying or just not say!

Here is a piciature of the Kitty Shelter. The Big Thing put it up a long time ago. It is a big piece of wood like the bottom of our Kitty Condo an it just sits onna little table. It works pretty well. You can see that none of the cold fluffy stuff got unner it. I sit there in the rain too.
It seems to have stopped, but you never know. Anyway, I finally went back out and sat unner the Kitty Shelter to watch the birdies and smell the nice wet air.

It got kinda deep, too. Thats tummy-deep in the piciatures and it stuck to the trees a lot, too. I've seen it deeper tho. When I was a kitten, it used to pile up taller than my tail held up! But that doesnt seem to happen much anymore. The Big Thing says we shouldn't even complain about that cause when he was our age it got almost as tall as he was. We didnt unnerstand that until he splained that at our age he was a lot bigger.
I suppose that makes some sense. Even Little Big Things are bigger than we are. An he says it used to fall and fall and then stay there for 3 big moons! Maybe he is making a funny. I hope so, that would be horrible! And what if that happened again now?

We Gotted LC!
Skeeter: I told The Big Thing we would get LC in a piciature! ROTFL!

He was up real late and I got his atten-shun while LC was in the little condo cave. So he smiled and all quiet-like turned on the camera and caught her using it. We'll get a piciature whn she climbs up to the platforms later.
But we gotted her good!

Warm Outside Weathery
LC: Oh so nice. It got all suddenly warm and went outside. I even jumped the wall again. I sat on top fer a few nap times, and then I went walkin. I decided to walk almost the whole length of the wall! I hit a post an I hopped on it. Then I hopped down onto the top ofthe wall. I did that the whole length!
When got to the end, I turned around and walked most of it again. But it was din-din time and I was hungry so I hopped down an ran to the cave. Well, gee, it was tuna day!
I decided not to like tuna today... I just stood there an icknored it while Skeeter ate it from his bowl an mine. I'm gonna try an guilt The Big Thing into something even better. Maybe fishies...

Moving the Kitty Condo...
LC: We have decided we don't like the kitty condo where it is sitting. During the light, there is too much noise going on there from the sparkly box and the musicy thing. An we cant really see anything from where it is. We just use it for sleepin on in the dark. But here are lotsa good places for sleepin (on the warm bed, unner the warm bed, on the guest beds, in the closets, on The Big Thing's faverite chair, etc...
We want to see out in more places, tho. So we talked to The Big Thing an he agreed to move it next to a clear hard thing we can't get at much. Skeeter can see outta it if he stretches way up an he says it is cool cause its the world we can't get to out the back. But he gets tired stretching up on his hindy paws an I cant even do that. I can only stretch enough to see sky.
The Big Thing unnerstands. So he is moving some stuff around to "try it out". He says he sees some good ideas for himself, too. It puts the table he eats and reads at right unner the bright light on the ceiling instead of puttin his shadow on effrything. He says we can try it there ans if we dont like that he has anovver place lookin out the back yard at the birdie feeder.
That might be cool, too, cause we can't see the birdies too well from the floor. The wood foor outside gets inna way. We like to watch birdies. So we will have him try both an then decide where it should stay.
We asked for him to build anovver condo so we could sit in both, but he said "maybe". I know what THAT means. "No" Actually, he says there isn't enough wall space for 2 kitty condos.
Well, duh, build anovver wall!
Well, antway, we have set a thought into his dumb head. He DID say after all, that if he builded anovver condo, he would use something called "rub-ber bakt carpet" cause it would be easier to wrap. So he was already thinking about a 2nd condo. Right? Right? I need some aggrgeew, er, validitizat, er, I need somekitty to say I'm right. Yeah, that's it!
Tell him we want a 2nd kitty condo. Skeeter and me just know he wants to build another better, so tell him to do it! We have him at the yes/no stage, so we need somekitties to push him into the "yes"...
We want anovver condo!!!

Cleaning and Giving
Skeeter: I talked to The Big Thing after he stopped do all that "work" and grabbed his lap. I normally don't ask any questions, but he has been doing cleaning stuff and I wanted to know wevver strange Big Things were going to come into the cave (I had just had a great dinner, he seemed tired, so I was embolded.
He scratched me for a minute and then splained about something called "cluter". I din't unnerstand that. So he menntioned how we like to puch toys unner the chairs and then we forget about them unless he takes then out. OK, I unnderstand that. Then he said he has been doin that since even before he found us.
Wow! He has been pushng things unner chairs all our lives! Oh, not quite (he says), he loses his toys in closets and shelves and any corner he can find... Thats axtually cool. He hides stuff like we do!
So, apparently, he seems to have gotten annoyed at all his lost toys an is trying to find them all again. Some of them are ones he doesn't want anymore, some he does. I can't tell the difference. None of them look very interesting to LC and me. There are a few softy looking things that are OK.
LC stretched up (wich surprised The Big Thing a lot) and asked him what he does with old toys. I mean, she and I don't want to play with the stuff he pulled out. But LC doesn't like wasting things and I guess she knew The Big Thing doesn't like to either.
So he is collecting stuff he doesn't play with anymore and is taking them to a place where maybe other Big Things can. Other stuff will get buried like litter, an some will get turned into new stuff in some way.
We like that idea! We are going though our toys to find the ones we don't play with to give to shelter kitties to play with. The Big Thing says we shouldn't just give only the stuff we don like but should add something we do like.
That's hard! But he says he will give us some new toys if we do. So we re willing to give that "giving" thing a try.
So I talked to LC about it, an we agreed we don't like those fevver things on stickas an strings very much, but ofer kitties might. We still have to each give up a good toy though. I decided to gif up a fluffy ball. LC decided to gif up a mouse.
If those is goin to shelter kitties, that seems OK. The Big Thing is sending good stuff to a re-use place, so we will do the same for kitties. He says he will get a couple new toys for them too. I and LC think that is a good thot.
We weren't sure about all the cleaning going on, but we feel a lots better about it now!
An we are waiting to see what the new toys are, too. We do want those!

Ack, He's Cleaning Again...
LC: That usually means visitors, and we don't like visitors. They make us nervous; well, Skeeter more than me. The Big Thing has spent the last 2 lights pulling stuff out of closets, off bookshelves, an stacking stuff up in piles on the floors of the cave. A lot of the stuff is going down into the big noisy machine room wif boxes of bottles and nooz-papers.
On the other paw, it doesn't quite seem like the usual kind of visitor cleaning. He isn't using the noisy sucky machine or any of the smelly kemicals, so maybe he is doing something new.
I still haf to be careful, tho. He carries boxes around and I don't wanna get stepped on. It seems efrytime I walk into a room he is comin at me holding a heavy box. He laffs an says he knows where I am, but I figure if I can't see his eyes, he can't see me!
Maybe Skeeter is smart to stay unner the bed, but I like to know what is going on. So I am stayin mostly next to big chairs an walls while he does whatefer it is he is doin! Well, if no strange people show up tommorrow, then he is doin all this stuff for some other reason (an that would be a first time, as far as I can remember).
We'll see. Oops, the "did-din" call - gotta run or Skeeter will eat it all!

ICE!
We got attacked by hard cold stuff. It is kinda like the hard clear things that keep us from getting outside, but it is MUCH colder. We've been out init when it was all soft and fluffy, but this stuff was like rocks.

This is what the awful stuff looked like up close. Even LC couldn't walk on it very well. It is super slipperry!

It is very shiney-pretty, tho! Sometimes it shines so bright we have to close our eyes down to almost nothing to look at it. The Big Thing admires it too.

The stuff seems dangerous tho. Anovver reason not to go out in it. It broke up a tree next to our cave! We effen watched parts go SNAP! and fall right offa it. I'm sure not gonna let it do that to me...

So, since The Big Thing is busy and isnt providing a lap, I'm gonna explor the next level of the kitty condo! I need a nap!

Balentine Day
Skeeter: Apparntly, there is some celebrashun going on where kitties that are all mushy over offer kitties tell them about it. I don't quite unnerstand it. LC is rolling her eyes at me an covering a smile wif her paw (glares) but she won't splain it, either (she says to ask The Big Thing).
Well, I kinna liked Boo a lot when she was here, but she went away to a new cave before we got to know each offer very well. LC says she likes me and I like her too, but we are like brother and sister an I notice it the celebrashun does seem to be about that.
So, to all you kitties that have a special offer kitty in some offer cave, I wish you a happy (or whateffer it should be) Balentine Day.
Personally, I think I should visit more kittyblog sites and "look around"...
LC is just rolling on the floor sneezing with laffing. Maybe I should just go pounce her until she splains it to me! Hmpph!

Gotted Skeeter on the Condo!
LC: The Big Thing finally woke up this morning. Well, I helped him wake up. I was all sneaky-excited! Skeeter was asleep on the condo and I wanted him catched in a piciature.
So, when I splained things, The Big Thing smiled, got up quietly (for a Big Thing anyway), turned on the camera while it was wrapped up inna towel, and snuck out to the sparkly-box room. Yeah, Skeeter was still asleep.

The Big Thing didn't dare turn on the lights, so the picture is a bit dim, but we got him!
But they are going to have to work harder than that to catch me! Skeeter really zonks completely out sometimes, but I sleep lighter than he does.
Hmm, The Big Thing is holding the catnip and looking at me wif a sneaky smile...

Kitty Condo, Used...
The Big Thing here: Skeeter and LC won't let me take pictures of them sleeping on the condo. It is kind of cute that they won't but I've seen both of them there. LC has made it to the middle platform at least. Skeeter seems to like the lowest one. No surprise there; LC is the climbing kitty.
I even turned on the camera OUTSIDE. They detected it.
I'll get a picture of them eventually... I may have to buy a spy camera, though. :)
Oh, and "hello and good napping" to all you kitties.

Kitty Condo, Set Up...
Skeeter: Well, yesterday The Big Thing brought all the pieces of the kitty condo upstairs and put them together. He made tool noises (pounding, thumping, AND whiny-twisty), so I run unner the bed until din-din time. Bad flashbacks from my kitten days...
So he really hasn't finished it, but it had all the parts LC and I are interested in (except the hidey cave), an he decided to put it somewhere to see how we liked it. He hadn't thought too much about that part, it seems. He finally found a place it would fit without moving too much stuff around, but doesn't think that is where it will stay.
We ignored it completely, of course. I mean, it makes the cave different and we don't like that. We walked all around the bottom and sniffed it a buncha times an rubbed against it. It didn't smell right yet, an we wanna see if it moves or does anything first.

Here is our Kitty Condo. When The Big Thing got up today, he saw me sleeping in the lower platform and went to get the flashy thing. As soon as I heard it wake up, I hopped off. I had to admit I had used it, cause he caught me at it. LC says she isn't going to tell him if she uses it unless he catches her in real deep kitty sleep and takes a piciature to prove it.

Here's another piciature. The Big Thing is looking around for a better place to put it. Right now, it is next to the sparkly box an that is kind noisey. We want it somewhere the day shines on us an we can see out an where it is a bit quiet. He is having some difficulty trying to satisfy our (very legitimate) requirements. We think there is a lot of stuff in the cave we don't use and he could get rid of those things. But he seems oddly reluctant to push the tall things with his "books" out of the cave.
We really want him to put it inna closet and knock a hole in the wall so we can see out. He says we would all get cold. What a lame excuse; we never get cold in the cave! An he could stick a hard clear thing over the hole if he really had to.
But at least we have him thinking (such as he can)...

The Meaning of Names...
The Big Thing says we should have explained about the names and the cats. He has told us about them before, but we don't 'member the details too well. So while we were all sitting together, he told us about them again.
Kenani and Hai U Fin were meezers when he was young. They were there at different times. Ralph and Sport-Sport were the first cats he had when he left his parent's cave. They were both adopted grey tabby females. The names came from something called "Firesign Theater". Ballou was a grey tabby female daughter of Ralph. Her name came from the movie 'Cat Ballou', because she would grab food from the bowls of the older cats and run off to eat it. He says "Cat Ballou" was a real person and a re-la-shun.
Mischief was another adopted grey tabby female. She did a lot of sneaky things like push stuff offa tables and she decided she was in charge of the cave. So she did "mischief" and she was "Miss Chief".
Jeremy and Boo were visitors. Jeremy was black&white and the Big Thing's parents' kitty and he stayed here when they went to a warm place for the Winter. We don't know how he got his name. Boo came to the cave when The Big Thing found her abandoned at a gas station on a cold rainy morning. She had strange long fur of many colors. She stayed for 4 months until The Big Thing found her a home with nice people who's cat had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was named "Boo" because she always looked surprised!
Tinkerbelle was a grey tabby female who came to the cave from a littermate of the Big Thing. He doesn't know why she got that name. She got bited by a big doggie when she was a kitten and was mean afterwards. She bited and scratched people. But she got along with The Big Thing OK. We remember her.
An we forgot to add our names to the list... I'm (Skeeter) the first cat The Big Thing really chose on his own (an he says the fact that I am not a grey tabby female is not an accident). My name comes from "mosquito". And LC is the 2nd he got to choose, black&white, and he says that was no accident either. Her name comes from that Borden cow "Elsie" and the letters stand for "little cow", cause that what she looked like as a kitten.

Thursday Thirteen
Counting by numbers (we had help over 5):
One Big Thing
Two kitties - Skeeter & LC
Three of us together
Four flavors of dry crunchies in the never-empty bowl
Five tree rats in the back yard
Six naps I (LC) took today
Seven naps I (Skeeter) took today
Eight flavors of wet good smelly food
Nine times we used the litter boxes
Ten times we asked for dinner today before it was time
Eleven kinds of birdies at the feeders
Twelve cans of wet good smelly food left on the low shelf
Thirteen toys we played with today

Another Day, the Kitty Condo, and Together Time
Skeeter&LC: Actally, The Big Thing kept us away when he was taking the piciatures. The platforms were just balanced on top of the posts, an he was worried if we jumped on one an it fell over, we would be fraid to use it when it was really put together.
So the piciatures you see are all we have seen.
He spent a lot of the light in the basement of the cave working on finishing it today. He seemed unhappy about some parts, so he did them again. He had finished making the carpet stay on the last box and liked the way that worked that he decided to do the other 2 the same way. We just want the thing upstairs. But he is like that, wants things perfect.
So, can you imagine how annoyed he was when I discovered he had stuck on the middle platform wrong? He decided to stop and come up the stairs. That was good, cause it was past our dinner time! And we know he will fix the thing that bothered him tomorow...
After we ate and went outside (briefly, cause it is cold out there) and came back in, he sat in his chair. I (Skeeter here) got up on his lap for some good close time and I (LC here) sat on the softy thing in front of the chair. That's where we both like to be when he watches the sparkly box.
We all had a real good nap!

Kitty Condo Update, 3
LC: I insisted. The Big Thing dint want to show any piciatures today because he had to undo some carpetting work. But he could set it up temporary and I wanted to see how it would look. He grumbled about "ugly" and "not finished" but I bugged him enough so he gave it a try of appearance.
So here is a pre-look:

The carpet is pulled away from the posts so that the metal braces can be attached (he forgot about that)

I like this view. The wood needs to be covered with carpet, but it looks good to move from one level to the other.

I think Skeeter will especially like this part. He likes large hidy caves. Of course, there needs to be more carpet put inside... And I can go in there an then hop up through the top openings.

When we hop from the lowest platform to the middle one, we see a 3rd one with a welcome open side. I think that is where I will curl up. Skeeter will want the lower ones.

Big Birdie!
Skeeter: Oh wow, we saw the biggest birdie ever yesterday! It had black an white tailfeavvers, an its wings were hunormous! It could hardly fly away when it saw The Big Thing watching through a hard clear thing I can't reach.
When it flew away (he was studying it like we do the squirrels), The Big Thing ran out to see if there were any signs of it. He wasn't scared of it of course (It was still small comapared to him), but he was concerned about us. He could't find any reason it was there on the ground.
I think it was eating our mousies! It sure was awkward on the ground, though. I'd like to catch it sitting there. The Big Thing says he might have to spend more time with us when we are outside, though. He doesn't trust it around when he isn't out there with us. He hasn't figured out what kind of big birdie it was yet.
It semmed to have alternating black and white tail fevvers, not in bands across it, but like sticking straight out from its butt. It seemed to have a brownish back. The Big Thing thinks it had light-color (greyish) underwing fevvers.
Anyone know what it was?

Little Fishies, Flopping All Around
LC: I used to get little fishies, an I miss getting them. They were fun to watch an they tasted real good, too.
The Big Thing used to go out hunting for Big Fishies, an he used little fishies to catch them with. He would go out on some strange thing that floated on the water. An usually, he would have one or two little fishies left over that he would give me when he came back to the cave.
I need to figure out how to get him hunting Big Fishies again!

Thursday Thirteen
LC: I love fishies. I love the way they move around. I love eating them. But The Big Thing doesn't give me live fishies. So, I have to watch them inside a hard clear box he has.
Sometimes he pulls a chair next to the place he keeps them in so I can look. I can't get at any of them, but it is fun to watch them. The Big Thing calls it my "LC TV".
I tried to count them all, but I can't. I'm pretty sure there are at least 13 fishies in there, though.
So this is my Thursday Thirteen:

20 Accident-Free Days...
Skeeter: I have to say it. I'm both proud and embarassed. I haven't had an accident in the cave since The Big Thing brought a litterbox upstairs into the computer room. I mean, I'm all happy about not making messes, but it is a little embarassing to admit that I did. I was beginning to feel all kitten-untrained!
It has really helped me having a litterbox in a safe place upstairs place near The Big Thing. The basement makes sudden strange noises. It makes me feel nervous, like there are snakies or doggies nearby. I just can't "go", if you know what I mean, down there.
So, I'm celebrating 20 lights and darks of no accidents around the cave. Not much to celebrate maybe, but sometimes you take what you can get.
