THE BIG THING:
Re: Bess and a rant
I’ve read your story, Kim Murphy. And you know what? I don’t believe a word of it. Cats are tough, but Bess would not have survived 9 weeks in an enclosed place without food and water. And she would not have stayed silent for so long.
I personally suspect somebody knew Bess was in that enclosed area… I don’t like the implications of that, whether that person was a child or an adult.
And I have to wonder about the previous “bad luck” you had with cats, Kim. One cat off the balcony, yeah. It can be a surprise that they misjudge depth. Twice, no; that was your fault.
You should have been prevented from having control over another cat from that moment on… You should have understood that cats are not mere decorations around you, that they are living creatures deserving care and in the case of odd circumstances (like high balconies) must be protected from them. A cat does not understand being many stories up. It may jump at a bird or a moth. Any person who lets a cat out on a high balcony is (and my apologies to everyone) a “fucking deadshit idiot”.
You failed that simplest care and protection of cats. You still obtained another cat, Bess, and failed the basic requirement of a person to a cat. To know where it is, to search the house when it seems to be lost. To listen in the night for cat cries.
And if you think I am going to believe that Bess made no cry-calls when trapped in an enclosure, you are completely, absolutely, utterly wrong.’
I have one cat who is basically mute. Yet, in duress, she will call out. Was Bess more mute than that?
I call you out as someone who should not be permitted to have any pet again in your life, that Bess should be freed from your stupidity and lack-care. You should not be trusted with a goldfish.
You disgust me…
