Breeze Litterbox Report #2

Angus commented: "Sounds like somebody doesn't really care for the Breeze.. 3 somebodies!" True, but it has only been one and a half days (reported previously). I think we have to give it at least a 10 day trial and maybe 2 weeks. Got to be as fair as possible. Keep sending comments though. We need the outside thoughts, critical or whatever!

DAY #3 MONDAY – DAY

Basement – The Breeze Litterbox was not used. The scoopable litterbox had 1 Ayla pee and poop and 1 LC pee.

Upstairs – Skeeter and Ayla each peed once.

(Monday daytime was a “mostly outdoors” day – The weather was fablous)

DAY #3 MONDAY – NIGHT

Basement – The Breeze Litterbox was not used. The scoopable litterbox had 2 LC pees and 2 Ayla pees. There was another LC poop on the floor (different spot).

[Summary: I have been carefully sifting the Breeze pellets added to the basement scoopable litterbox so that they stay on top so that the cats can get used to them. I observed Ayla carefully raking them away to make a “clean” spot to use. Ayla happily includes the pellets in her “coverup” duty, though. I haven’t noticed LC’s habit.]

Upstairs – Skeeter peed and pooped twice each, Ayla pooped twice.

DAY #4 TUESDAY – DAY

[Note: Because of LC’s seeming fixation on separate poop/pee usage for adjoining litterboxes, I have moved the Breeze litterbox to the right (pee) side and the scoopable one to the left (poop) side to see if that helps.]

Basement – The Breeze Litterbox was not used. The scoopable litterbox had 1 LC poop, 2 Ayla pees and poops. [Observation: It was hot today, so the deck door was closed most of the day and the cats didn’t go outside much.]

Upstairs – 3 Skeeter pees and 2 poops and 2 LC pees.

DAY #4 TUESDAY – NIGHT

Basement – The Breeze litterbox was not used. The scoopable litterbox had 2 poops each from LC and Ayla. [Note: There was a pool of pee on the basement floor away from the Breeze litterbox, in a cardboard box (the box had an open slot in the bottom). It has to be LC. She apparently will not use the Breeze litterbox. Ayla won’t use it either, but she is happy with the scoopable litterboxes upstairs or the 1 in the basement. Skeeter hasn’t even tried it.

Upstairs – Skeeter peed 3 times and pooped once and Ayla peed twice.

[Note: The Breeze Litterbox guidelines say to "stop maintenance" on the old litterbox after day 3, which I took to mean "remove the other litterbox". I was about to empty and remove the old (scoopable) litterbox, but suddenly realized that one of Ms Maureen's emails was actually saying to leave the old one in place all "used". That makes sense. Given a choice between a familiar but very used litterbox and a nice clean unfamiliar one, a kitty might be more inclined to give the new one a try. So, the old one stays in place "dirty". OK, but it would be just my luck if the kitty police decided to visit here in the next days. LOL! I'll take the chance... ;)]

The experiment continues...

Breeze Litterbox Report #1

Reminder: There are 2 basement litterboxes and 2 upstairs litterboxes.

DAY #1 SATURDAY – NIGHT

Basement – The Breeze Litterbox was not used. The scoopable litterbox next to it had 1 Ayla pee and poop and 2 LC pee and 1 poop.

Upstairs – Skeeter peed in 1 scoopable box twice and pooped in the other once; Ayla peed in one.

DAY #2 SUNDAY – DAY

Basement – The Breeze litterbox was not used. LC and Ayla each peed once.

Upstairs – Skeeter peed twice an pooped once, Alya pooped once.

DAY #2 SUNDAY – NIGHT

Basement – The Breeze Litterbox was used for a pee, user unknown. The scoopable litterbox next to it had 1 Ayla pee and poop, and 1 LC pee. Special observation: There was a poop on the basement floor! Skeeter does that sometimes, but it had to be LC; it is the right size, and she is used to using the left litterbox for poop and the right one for pee. She is just “organized” like that. The Breeze litterbox is on the left…

Upstairs – Skeeter peed twice and pooped once and Ayla peed once.

A Grand Litterbox Experiment!

We were recently contacted by Ms Maureen, of the Tidy Cats “Breeze Litter System” projek. It seems that Maureen liked our Sunday Cat Food Review objektivity an asked if we would like to test their new idees. Well, bein that litterboxes are pretty important ta us, an we sure like improvements, we agreed immediately. Maureen sent us information on the new litterbox idees, and sent us one ta test out.

Fortunately, The Big Thing is a ‘Consumer Reports’ magazine reader type of Bein, an some a that has rubbed off on us. So he will be keepin detaileded records of events an reportin on our experiences in the Tidy Cats Breeze Litter System.

The Situation: There are 2 litterboxes in the basement, an 2 upstairs in the computer room (the better fer The Big Thing ta know they need cleanin). The upstairs ones are fer Skeeter (we are all writin this as if no one was individually writin it). He had problems with stairs awile last year an addin one upstairs helped him a lot. LC uses the basement ones almost alla time. When Ayla arrived in January, The Big Thing added a 2nd one upstairs an she uses anny of them about equal. The new Breeze Litterbox was put inna basement, as LC an Ayla both use those an Skeeter is “kinna set in his ways”. LC an Ayla are more likely ta accept change.

The Set-Up: The guidelines from Tidy Cats said ta initally leave 1 litterbox and set up the new one side by side. Ta help out, we set the Breeze Litterbox on the left side (most often used), and left the reglar one (scoopable litter) on the right. The Big Thing cleaned out the reglar box carefully and put fresh scoopable litter init. He put one small piece of poop in each box ta help remind us that both are usable. The Tidy Cat guidelines said ta scatter 1 ta 2 cups of the new Breeze litter pellets on the top of the old litterbox. The Big Thing did 1 ½ cups perzactly.

The Testing: We are free ta use anny box we want. Totally our preference! The Big Thing will be measurin the amount of use each box gets an he will be trying ta (discretely) notice who is using which boxes. Please unnerstand that there may be some mildly gross discussions of pee an poop. This is a sientifical experiment, and technikal terms haf ta be used. There will efen be some PICTURES. We ‘poligize in advance fer that, but it is necersary in the innerests of keeping proper records!

[Special Note: We get ta go outside a lot at this time of year cause the deck door can be left open in nice weather), so we often do our daytime “business” outside. But we are always inside from dark to lunchtime. In hot or cold weather, the door is kept closed and we only go out “sometimes”.]

The Breeze Litterbox Structure: There is a bottom tray with a asorbant pad (like a sticky-bein diiper) to capture pee. Above that is a shallow slotted tray wif dust-free clay pellets that arent asorbant. Pee falls through to the pad below an poop stays on the pellets. There are attachable sides (the front is open). We’re not usin those at first cause our reglar litterboxes don’t haf them. The scoop has slots shaped fer the top pellets ta fall back inna box.

Reportin: The Big Thing will try ta report on the usage every day (or two). The litterboxes get cleaned twice a day, so he will report “day” and “night” results.

Flowers Fer Karl an Ruis Weddin

We checked the yard careful today...

We found some bushes of pretty an nice-smelly red roses.

The weird an (we think) rather rare Hawthorne Rose is in full bloom (an incredibly fragrant).

Here's a closeup...

An we found the first new wild potent Catnip plant of the year in our back yard. Yer welcome ta efry leaf of it fer yer celeratashuns!

Zoolatry

LC: We are SO pleased! Zoolatry sent us arty pictures of ourselfs. They are SO GREAT and jus "get us" so right.

Ayla: "I am right there in my best way-up spot. I so like it up there where I can nap alone or watch what is goin on."

LC: "I am all surrounded by my favrit many-colored pompoms. Their my best toys!"

Skeeter: "Wow, they knew I like ta look aroun corners afore coming out of a room ta make sure it is safe an all! How did they know?

Answers Ta Qestions An Comments

Angus Mhor: “Was the alliteration part of the meme?”.

This referred to our alliterative 6 word memoirs, which each of us’s started with a same letter. No, that wasn’t reequired, Angus, but we wanted to try it. Skeeter managed it, an Ayla found a letter ta use from her name. LC couldn’t find words that fit. So she got annoyed an said “well, poo on ya both, an the “P” worked… Admitally, we all did have some help from The Big Thing when we ran outta words. He seems ta hav a book that lists every single word efer made! Who knew?

Camies Kittens: “LC, do you always sleep by yourself, or does Skeeter ever join you? We get the impression that Skeeter is the most comfortable sharing space with everyone.”

They were askin about the pictures of our favrit sleepin spots. Aktally, Skeeter and LC sleep tagether sometimes. They used ta often, an still do sometimes. They mostly do mutual head grooming these days and eat nearest each other. Neither Skeeter nor LC have allowed Ayla to really curl up wif them yet, but Skeeter accepts much closer nappin wif Ayla than LC does. Skeeter is a very laid-back cat. An Ayla hasn’t figured out yet that she needs ta groom first ta get groomed. It takes time. Ayla has recently started ta lick The Big Thing’s sparse fur, an he strokes her head when she does that ta try and make a thought in her mind.

Scobby, Shaggy, and Scout: “We were just catching up on some of your recent posts and wow! we want to visit your food cupboard!!!”

OK, its not really a question, but we thought we should comment. Our shelf inna pantry is perzactly 7 cans wide (The Big Thing uses it as a calendar), 8 cans tall an 3 cans deep. So that means a WHOLE case of one flavor will fit in one row deep and we get ta have seven flavors wide. That means (counting on all our collective toesies an ears and such, um, 24 weeks of dinners. That’s a LONG time! An we haf efen more than that of Fancy Feast fer our breakfasts! That’s kep inna difernt place, but we love ta stare at that, too.

Angus Mhor: “Isn't it kinda funny that it says "Ocean Whitefish" on the label but contains Turkey? Why don't they just put "Ocean Whitefish and Turkey" on the label?”

We agree its weerd! Sometimes Purina does (like wif “Salmon&Beef”) an sometime they don’t. The Big Thing says it is a “marketing decision”. As he ‘splains that ta us, it is their best guess at how ta trick ya ta buy their stuff. That aktally makes some sense. We haf tried a few foods that had SO MUCH different stuff in them, we couldn’t figure out what we was eatin. An we didn’t like those much…

Gandalf&Grayson: “Can Mom have some Necco wafers, please?”

Send us an address… An we’ll fit a toy inta the box fer you guys… Mebbe some treats, too. ;)

Goldenshade: “The beans are supposed to be growing those green things OUTSIDE not inside!”

Yeah, not a question, but we oughtta ‘splain. The stuff The Big Thing was growin was “mesclun”. Little salady things that cost a bunch ta buy. His problem is that he cant tell them from weeds outside, so he hasta grow them inside so he knows what grows is OK ta eat. Cant he jus sniff them and tell?

William : “Holy moly, 5" of rain!! Maybe the visitors brought it?”

Yes they did! They dragded it up all the way from Florida with them (they admit that), it stayed here wif them, an it left when they did! 10 whole days later, we are only know feeling dry dirt unner our paws when we walk aroun the yard! We are callin them The Rain Beins from now on.

Lux: “I hope your visitors turn out to be really nice beans, with arms full of treats.”

They nefer bring treats. And then they complain that we nefer come aroun them. Duh… An we arent allowed in their bedroom (while they are here), they gripe about ours furs efrywhere, an they walk heavy wifout looking ta see if we are inna way!

Radcliff, Allie, Luna, & Ozzie: “At least Ayla's mancat boyfriend is good looking and seems polite. Any idea where he lives?”

This refers to when Ayla-the-spayed-cat was in heat again earlier this month. We haf never seen the black kitty before or since, so he was obviosly innerested in ONLY ONE THING. (Ahem)… Unlike the coupla housekitties who come inna yard fer our mousies an nip OR the polite kitty across the street who is outside alla day but DOESNT invade our back yard (an we would LIKE ta meet).

Memorial Day

OK. Like mebbe we don’t unnerstand it all that well. But we get the idea that Beins sometimes fight and efen die ta protek their others. But we think that includes us bein protekted too. That matters ta us.

So, if we got this right, there is bunches of houses like ours tagether, there is bunches of those bunches tagether, and so on. Til there is squillions of houses inna place. An squillions of ofer Bein houses in anofer group, and mebbe they don’t get along fer some reason.

So some of them Beins hafta defend our house from ofer Beins sometimes. An sometimes they cross the Rainbow Bridge. We really dont unnerstand that very well. But The Big Thing says this is the day that we honor the Beins what gives their lives ta proteck us from other Beins an kitties and woofies an what all.

So we decideded ta write a poem. Its not veery good, cause we don’t quite unnerstand perzactly what they do. But…

Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.

Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.

Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.

An when we cross the Rainbow Bridge ourselfs
An see some Bein in a uniform,
We will lick yer wounded hand in gratitude
An purr next ta you in close comfort.

An when we meet yer kitty, woof, or bun,
We will tell them that
They had the high honor
Of knowing you in the previous world.

In Memorium...

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

SKEETER: "Sleeping soundly since scrumptious supper served"

LC: "Pouncing properly, putting positive paw pressure"

AYLA: "Leaping lightly like long legged lemur"

Thursday 13

Not alla one subject, as we were kinna active in the house taday! Just a day in our lifes!

We (Skeeter and Ayla) love the Drinkwell Fountain. LC doesn't care fer it much, which is all weerd case she loves movng water outside an we don't!

I sleep onna box padded wif sheets anna towel. It doesn’t get softier than that!

Of course, I gotta do some business there sometimes. Don’t stare!

A little scratchin…

Strettttch………

And I like ta change nappin positions sometimes.

I, Skeeter, like sleepin unner the bed. Well, it aint really unner the whole bed cause I can’t get unner it. Its all filled with drawers. I sleep unner the “headboard”. But it is up against the wall an has a top, so that is real good!

Here is what it looks like wifout me there.

Hi, LC here. I like sleepin onna chairs. The Big Thing has sheets ofer them ta catch my furs. He doesn’t mind hisself, but it saves him time when visitors arrive. We all haf Gizzy Quilts, but they is dryin onna tops of chairs cause they got so furry.

I also love sleepin in the middle of the waterybed up a gainst the pillows. I love feeling safe from at least a coupla sides.

Skeeter again: Hey, I got closed outside! The Big Thing looked out an called, but I was sniffin out a mousie. So by the time I ran back, the door was shut. I hate that an paw at it until I get let in.

But I got in. Notice how well my furs hide in the wood floors! Sometimes I can barely be seen!

Some Surprising Changes

SKEETER:

Well, I'm gettin confoosed! Ayla came here 4 Big Moons ago. She's been followin me around efrywhere, an I try ta put up wif it mostly. I'm flatterred, but it does get a bit much sometimes.

One of the differnces between LC an me is that I get up on The Big Thing's lap and she doesn't (jus likes to sit near us). An Ayla has been honoring my place on The Big Thing's lap. Even when I dont feel like sittin up there, no one else does either. That's my territory, ya know?

Well, it musta been somethin about her 11th-month day. Ayla suddenly changed. Yeah, I mean like a light switch! Just changed suddently! One day she was walkin over The Big Thing ta get ta tables an bookshelves, and the nex, she was sittin onna floor askin ta come up. On his lap. What is MY place!!!

Ooooooooh, he snapped his fingers like he does ta me, an suddenly, she decided ta hop right up unlike all before times! And curled up and purred all crazy-like. I was stunned. Why's she suddenly start doin that? An ya know what she did that night? Do ya? She crept unner the covers in bed! ALL NIGHT!!! How'd she efen breath unner there that long?

OK, I gotta admit, The Big Thing been sittin longer inna chair and invitin me up too. An I still like it there. But he's not like "MINE" exclusively annymore sittin inna chair. I'm not used ta sharin him. I've ALWAYS been the "lap" kittie.

[Skeeter, you've always been my lap-kitty, and you always will be. But Ayla wants a little time too. She is just watching what you do and trying to fit in. She ADMIRES everything you do]

Well, yeah, but I dont want her on yer lap. That's MY lap.

[There is room enough for two, Skeeter, if you would just stop hissing at her. And she isn't up here all the time.]

Well, I'm confoosed. I want things liked they used ta be. I mean, I like Ayla OK, and all, and she likes me, but I'm

well,

um,

jealous...

[Skeeter, you are the best cat there ever was. You are my favorite cat ever. But you can't tell LC or Ayla that. It's a secret. Now c'mon up on my lap an I'll scritch you into purring oblivion for a while.]

Well, OK. You mean it, right?

[Yes Skeeter, I mean it]

(Skritch, skritch, skritch.... puuuuuurrrrrrrrr)

The Big Thing: It is getting a little "interesting" here. Ayla has suddenly started meezing to me, showing interest in laptime, and suddenly wanted "undercovers" time. I think she has learned from Skeeter how to relate to me, and Skeeter is regretting it. LC is "closely aloof" and that works. Ayla suddenly seems to be adapting Skeeter's way of relating to me.

I think I am going to be busy attending to 2 cats who want the same types of attention... Wish me well, kitties, that I manage to do it right by both of them...

Tummy and Toesie Tuesday

AYLA:

I saw some stuff on ofer bloggies that I dint know about (Im startin ta read ofer ones when Skeeter and LC do). I really liked the Tummy an Toesie Tuesdays! So I decided ta pose fer some of my own (I like the camera, an The Big Thing says the camera likes me too).

So here is my FIRST Toesie Tuesday picture. I wasnt all that satisfied when I saw it, so I got him ta take anofer.

Yeah, this one is better - more toesies!

Then I tried some Tummy Tuesday pictures (again, my FIRST). Those are trickier! The Big Thing is a little sloooow at clicking the pictures (he says the camera is a little sloooow taking them and that I gotta stay in one position fer a coupla seconds).

I thought this one was a little better, but I was tired and wanted ta stop. I felt like, all fat, so I wanna wait an try some more afore dinner nex time!

Buying Good Stinky Goodness

We haf so MANY things we want to write about:

1. Squillions Pictures
2. Mancat photos of Skeeter
3. Readin 'The Mornin Scratch'
4. Max bein the subject of a artikle
5. Tummy Tuesday photos
6. The Birdie in the Hallway
7. "Water, water efrywhere"
8. The waspie inna noospaper
9. The 3 cat names meme
10. The 6-word description meme
11. A meme we invented!
12. Future birthday party plans
13. Wonderful Zoolatry art we recieved of us
14. Ayla pictures
15. LC pictures
16. Meezer rules on Simply Siamese
17. Etc, etc, etc...

But today we feel like we need ta discuss "the price of canned cat food" (stinky goodness). Ya see, The Big Thing buys our stinky goodness in 6-month supplies. It is astonishingly good-feelin' ta see it all at once! We mean, it like fills a whole table.

It used ta be that we jus got Friskies at night and THAT 6 months filled up a whole pantry shelf. An it was dry crunchies all the rest of the day.

Then we started gettin Fancy feast fer breakfast! That was SO great! We still like munchin the dry stuff in between, and aint none of us getting all fat or nothin, but oh it is SO great to have canned breakfast!

First, The Big Thing bought the Fancy Feast onna internets. PetDirect sells 24 cans of the reglar Fancy Feast stuff fer $13.89 and there is a $8.39 shipping charge fer a total of $22.28. PetSmart sells the same stuff fer about $11 in the store. Well, Wal-Mart sells the same fer $9.44 plus MD 5% sales tax (about 45 cents?)!

Dont fall fer those internet adds, they kill you on shipping. Reward places that sell brand names cheaper so tat we are likliest ta get the best stuff ta eat... The Big Thing swears that Wal-Mart is not in his stock "portfolio" (but he is wondering why not...)

Our concern is that we get the tastiest healthy stuff ta eat an that's gonna happen when it takes the fewest green papers ta get it.

Ya know? The Big Thing bought a buncha Merrick stuff when Ayla came along, an none of us would touch it. We would only reluctantly eat any Merrick stuff he mixed with our Friskies if no more than 25% but that was our limit after 2 BIG MOONS of tryin.

So, we is sayin buy the kitties some good-tastin stuff, but from where it is sold cheap. Like dont fall for Beins that steal lots of green papers fer sellin the sae stuff all 'spensive! Like PetDirect...

In case ya didnt guess, we is kinna peed off at the PetDirect.com prices...

Skeeter, LC, and Ayla

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?

Washington DC, the only big city that thinks it oughtta be a State. Aktally, we only know its da nearest big city cause The Big Thing took Mike The Mysterious ta visit while he was here an he said it was a “big city”. We aint nefer been there ourselfs (an don’t wanna).

Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?

Mebbe a “1”, since we tend ta keep secrets about ourselfs. But iffen ya wanna know annything about the other kitties inna house, the rool is “jus ask, we’ll tell”!

Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).

Well, we is all about 1” hair length, ‘ceptin our whiskers which are much longer. Skeeter: “Mine is orange an white wif a kinna rough texture”. LC: “Mine furs are black an white an softer than Skeeter’s”. Ayla: My fur is tan an brown an unbeliefably silky, as is proper fer a Princess Meezer”!

Main Course
What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?

Aggressive definitely! Ya cant drive a strange cat outta the yard or a squirrel up a tree by bein courteous or slow…

Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?

Late February 2006. That was the last week that The Big Thing went away each day an left us alone. He hasn’t gone away a whole day efer since then!

Thursday 13 - Good Things This Week

1. We are all healthy. None of us got injured like Panther, found a lump unner our tungs like Cato, or are lost. Aktally, that’s worth all 13. But we will continoo.

2. Skeeter: I caught a birdie! I efen got it inna house. Boy was The Big Thing surprised hen he saw it layin inna hall!

3. LC: I caught a mole! I left it on the deck though, cause the door was closed.

4. Ayla: I got ta sniff both the birdie an the mole.

5. Ayla: I caught an ate 3 bugs!

6. We all went ta Mr. Tigger’s Birfday Party!

7. The Big Thing: I pulled out my photo albums and showed my parents a lot of pictures that were very old and some that showed them how happy their cat was to stay here when they travelled. They didn’t know I had pictures of old family vacations, Mom’s first car, their cats-who-came-before, and stuff like that! They were thrilled!

8. Ayla: The Big Thing played toys wif me every night this week!

9. Skeeter and LC: We had good walks around the yard wif The Big Thing… We like that lots.

10. Ayla: I helped The Big Thing protek our basement from the rain invasion!

11. Skeeter: I finally let Ayla nap up against me. She’s a bit squirmy, but it was OK.

12. The Big Thing promised we wouldn’t hafta hear the sucky machine fer a while. That was VERY good noos! He only uses it when visitors are comin, so that’s double good noos (no sucky machine AND no visitors fer awhile).

13. We can see enough stinky goodness on the shelfs ta last 6 months!

Dont Jump Where There Are Plants

AYLA: Well, I got in trouble again! I saw a new window where I wanted ta look out. I could see there was something on the windowsill, but I jumped so that I would land on in top of it. How was I sposed ta know that it wasnt attached ta the windowsill?

I mean, I MEAN, why would The Big Thing put fally-down stuff onna windowsill when he knows I like ta look out windows and am a champion jumper?

[Ayla, in 4 months, you never jumped up on that high windowsill. I know you didn't because it was dusty! And it is the same view you see when looking out the kitchen window or deck doors - TBT]

Well, yeah, but this time I wanted to see out THAT window ta see if there was something different ta see. So annyways, I jumped up on top of the stuff there. CHEESES, the whole place fell apart! I went down and the stuff I jumped on fell down!

It turns out that The Big Thing (who I will say was marvelously tolerant of the event (and because he is reading over my backside as I type) was growing "leetuce" in a inside windowbox. Apparently that stuff is his version of eating grass (and why he doesnt just eat grass I dont know - the stuff is efrywhere outside)!

It was a mess! And of course it hadda be in the middle of the night, so he was sleepin right there an turned on the light in time ta see me runnin out of the room... Busted!

[I would have known who it was anyway. Skeeter and LC haven't ever jumped up there - TBT]

At least all the little plant-leetuce dirt-holders fell right-side-up! They seem ta all be OK. But still, he did that awful looking-at-me-over-the-top-of-his-eyeglasses thing. And he made me stay in that little room wif him while he cleaned up an put the planties back on the windowsill. All the time telling me NOT ta jump up there annymore, and how much he wants those things ta grow.

I HATE bein lektured!

But then he got back inta bed and called me ta come up. I did, cawshusly, and he scritched me fer a long time. While he was doin that, he was remindin me it wasnt a reward, but ta let me know he unnerstans when I makes mistakes, but not ta to THAT one again!

Ah, Back to Normal

AYLA: "Normal" in many different ways...

First, I feel normal again. No more desperate, locked-inside, feelin-funny feelings! We are ALL feelin better cause of that.

Second, the weather is normal again. The rain tried to drown efrythin outside and even tried ta get us in the HOUSE! The Big Thing fought it down in the basement til the middle of the night. I kept him company a lot in case he needed me ta help.

As fast as the rain tried ta get in, he captured it an put it in this big bucket! Finally it gave up tryin ta get in.

The next morning, The Big Thing went out and looked at the rain-measurin thing. We got 5" of rain in just a half day!

Third, things are normal again cause we can all go out again. I, of course, hadda stay inside all week cause of my "condition" and Skeeter an LC hadda stay in fer 2 whole days cause of the rain.

So we were happy ta all get outside again this morning in the nice sunshine.

The pretty flowers were happy fer the sunshine too. They opened up real fast.

Fourth, things are normal again cause the visitors left this morning. It turned out that they were The Big Thing's Mom and Dad. Skeeter stayed unner the bed almos all the time an only ate at night. LC was more relaxed an wandered aroun the house several times, sometimes efen sittin in the same room wit the visitors. LC says they haf been here before an she is not so worried about visitors as Skeeter is annyway.

I watched them a few times from around corners, and I snuck out ta eat when LC ate. On the 2nd day, I efen came out an sniffed them some, an later, I let The Big Thing carry me ofer ta the Mom so she could pet me. I decided it was OK if TBT was holding me safe. I efen purred fer the Mom. She was so happy. She efen tole me that Siameezers were her favrit kitties! I liked that.

Still, we were all more relaxed when they left. We were glad ta get our house back. The first thing we did was all eat breakfast tagether again. Then we all claimed our favrit nappin spots again. Skeeter likes ta be onna floor in his kitty bed and LC likes ta be up a little bit on the ottoman or a easy chair.

I like ta be up on top of the kitty-condo. An since it matches my furs, I can prakly vanish!

So, "NORMAL" is very good!

We figured we couldnt draw at all, but we admired all the great doodlies at other kitty sites. So we hadda ask The Big Thing fer help! He aint much good at drawin stuff eether (he draws a moose an efrybein thinks it a deer orra woofie or annythin else but a moose).

But he suggested somthin to us what reely diguises terible drawing. We decided that was our best chance... So here is our cat doodle. Can ya find the 3 kitties?

Can annykitties tell us how ta get all these colers ofa our paws! They taste real bad!

Visitors Coming, EEK!

LC: The Big Thing pulled out the awful sucky machine, mopped the floors all wetty, an started cleaning the guest room. Oh mouse-droppings, that means Beins are comin ta visit!

We are goin unner the bed real quick as soon as we hear noises at the front door. The Big Thing says it won't be tomoorrow, so we got a little time. But dont expect ta hear from us Sunday or Monday cause we aint coming out til they go.

Skeeter an me ar wonderin what Ayla will do. She aint nefer seem visitors here, but she jus might be all friendly an stuff. That would be jus like her!

If she likes them, she might report about it. But we're hidin, as usual...

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
When someone smiles at you, do you smile back?

We’re cats, we don’t “smile”.

Soup
Describe the flooring in your home. Do you have carpet, hardwood, vinyl, a mix?

Most of the upper place is wood floors, the eating room is linoleum, an the 3 ofer rooms are carpet. We spend most of our time in the wood floor rooms cause that’s where The Big Thing stays. At night, we are in a carpet room cause that’s where he sleeps. We pile on him.

Salad
Write a sentence with only 5 words, but all of the words have to start with the first letter of your first name.

Skeeter, sensible, sleepy, skeptical, stretchy.
LC, lazy, lassitudinal, laconic, light.
Ayla, astonishing, amazing, abounding, acquisitive.

Main Course
Do you know anyone whose life has been touched by adoption?

We 3 kitties were all adopted by The Big Thing! We, Skeeter and LC, were saved from bad places. Ayla was adopted from a happy place. We are all happy about that.

Dessert
Name 2 blue things.

Blue carpet in the puter room an guest room. We like both places.

Blue hostas inna back yard. They are big an we like ta sit unner them watchin the birdies an mousies. They got BIG leafs like umbrellas!

An, while it is more than two, we like our house outsides bein blue. Efry ofer house on the street is some shade of yellow, so it makes ours easy ta find by the delivery Beins. We get prezzies and cards that way!

Stressy Week

SKEETER:

Its been a tough week here. Nuthin tragic or anything, jus kinna difficult. We are all a bit stressed. We kinna got harsh on the "celebrity quiz" thing an we were worried after we posted that kitties would take our comments all wrong. I mean, its jus a quiz an we shouldnta got all hissy at it. But we were relieved ta see a lotta ofer kitties agreed. So that was good.

Ya know that Ayla-the-spayed-kitty has been "in heat" since Sunday. That's kept us all on edge (The Big Thing included). An Ayla isnt too happy about it eether! TBT rolls his eyes upward an says "it just had to be a siamese". I guess he means that meezer girlcats are louder than most. More about that later...

Truth be told, LC an I arent doing too great this week eether. LC been "losing" her food some lately. The V-E-T cant find any special problem wif her innards an says sometimes there are jus bad days wif all kitties. TBT is spossed to watch her outside a lot ta see if she is eatin lotsa grass or bugs. An iffen it keeps up, he gotta steal one of her poops for a test. (Yuck)

Me, I been missin the litterbox some lately. Its embarrasin, cause I feel confoosed sometimes. Las year, I couldnt make it all the way down ta the basement sometimes ta poop an I was goin closer up the stairs. So TBT moved 2 litterboxes upstairs an that really helped a long time. But now Im hafin problems efen there.

Like I said, its embarrisin. But I haf always been a honest kitty and whats true is true. Its not like the litterboxes arent clean, I jus sometimes confoos bout "in an out". An it used ta be jus poop mistakes. Now its pee too. (sigh) I peed onna wood floor the ofer day (an I nefer done that before) and there are sometimes wet spots inna basement cement floor.

TBT hasta turn on lights at night an look at the floor when HE gets up ta do HIS thing an we gotta walk around carfeful too. So we're all kinna gettin each ofer upset and we are all a little stresst!

Now, about Ayla... I gotta turn this over ta The Big Thing cause I dont unnerstand all he is splainin...

THE BIG THING: I understand, Skeeter; it's complicated. From discussions with the original operating vet (who has done about 70,000 spay operations and does them international as charity work (virtually all he does), it is possible that a small amount of tissue remains in Ayla sufficient to provoke hormone production, yet almost impossible to find and remove in a follow-up operation. And he says a second operation would have some risks attached. But he will examine her for free and will do any follow-up operation I authorize (accepting the risk) for free. He does not, however expect much success from such a follow-up operation. He said the situation Ayla is in is extremely rare but any improvement is even more rare. He also said it can be a result of a pituitary gland reation that will fade over time.

My own vet examined Ayla back in February (while she was in heat) and found the spay incision was infected, took a blood sample for a hormone test (which it suddenly occurs to me I never received the results of - I will have to call him tommorrow about that). The spay incision healed just fine and I can barely find it now. He says he has only had one situation like Ayla's and was not able to fix it.

The original operating Vet has office hours in my town on Thursdays, so I just missed that opportunity. I knew that, so that's my fault. But Ayla's "heat" this time has been less than the previous ones. In February it was 24/7 and this time, she is yowling maybe 30 minutes every 4 hours and usually sleeps through the night OK. So, I think I will wait to see if it happens one more time. I can handle the occasional yowling in daytime and the effort to keep her inside when I let Skeeter and LC in and out.

And I suspect Skeeter's and LC's problems may be stress-induced by Ayla's problems and will cease when she is "back to normal" (in a couple of days, we all hope). We'll see...

Oh, BTW, here is a couple of pictures of Ayla's BIG BLACK MANCAT suitor. They aren't very good pictures, as I was taking them though a double glass door. And this is after Skeeter chased him out of the yard once, LC chased him out of the yard once, and I sprayed him with water several times. And here he is calmly sitting on our deck the next morning!
