The Vet and The Rainbow Bridge

Skeeter and LC: We have been reading other kitty blogs lately and we are both happy and sad. We are sad because so many kitties are crossing the Rainbow Bridge. It is hard to read about their crossing and The Big Thing just drips water all over the place. Most endings seem to involve "the vet", and that worries us. We get brought to "the vet" every year at this time.

We get forced into the kittie prisons, put in the loud moving machine and carried into a place with other frightened kitties and doggies and others. We get stabbed and poked and they even push things up our butts sometimes. They squirt stuff in our noses, even. We get handled in ways we don't like, and The Big Thing even helps them hold us down for that.

We are even relieved to get back in our kittie prisons, because we know we are going home again (well after 13 years, we have figured out that part), and we know we aren't going to get stabbed and poked anymore for a looooong time.

We know from what we've been reading that one day we won't come back home from that "vet" place. We have to go there every year, and who knows when that last visit will be?

But we are happy also. We both feel great and have no problems to admit to (even if we would). We know that Tinkerbelle, The Cat Who Came Before, just left on her own one day when she was too tired to go on (cause we were there at the time). We know (because Tinkerbelle told us) that The Cat Who Came Before Her crossed the Rainbow Bridge in her sleep. So maybe it won't be so bad. And if The Big Thing is holding us at the end, that wouldn't be so bad either.

Tinkerbelle told us about the Rainbow Bridge before she left. We don't mean she told us she was planning to go there, just that she let us know about it. She said it was a good place and that we all would see The Big Thing some happy day after that. We'll stay with The Big Thing as long as we can because we like this place, but maybe crossing the Bridge isn't so bad. We will want to talk to Those Cats Who Came Before and compare lap sleeping and treats and toys and stuff. That will be nice while we wait for him to show up...

Big Thing Activities

Skeeter: The Big Thing is doing stuff outside today, and I don't like that much! I like tree-fur on the deck, I like the grass being long, and I like cluttery sheds! At least it was quiet stuff. I really hate the big noisy thing that makes the grass short. He knows to call me inside and close the hard clear thing when he does that. LC just goes and sits in a place the noisy things never goes; I don't know how she can stand it.

When he pushes tree-fur off the deck, he does it all at once. I enjoy doing that, too, but just a few bits at a time! He tries to use it all up in some sort of FRAP. Well, that's OK, he misses lots of pieces, so there are still some for me.

The grass-shortening thing is worse. I hide under the bed where it can't get me. I've never seen it in the cave, but you never know. Big Things are crazy. And dangerous sometimes. LC says she stays outside where she can keep her eyes and ears on it. But he leaves the grass so short, it is hardly worth chewing on, just real soft stuff. We have to go looking for anything worth chewing.

The sheds are different. He hasn't done that before that I recall. And why does he call those little houses "sheds", anyway? I never see anything falling off them! Well, they don't seem to have fur, but I think they have scales, like big whole fishies (I pawed at one once trying to figure out how to get a bite). A hard thing fell off the side once, but he put it back on so maybe it was just injured. So, today, he took everything out of it and pushed all the tree-fur and other little stuff out (he seems to hate tree-fur and grass).

The good news is that he uncovered several mousie nests. The bad news is that there weren't no mousies in them. I could smell them after he pushed them out of the shed and went away for a naptime. It was kind of weird, though. I could smell mostly mousie, but there were feathers in there too. I never got a mousie with feathers! That would be cool.

Anyway, after he was happy pushing all the stuff out of the shed, he put most of the large stuff back in!

It really must be a Big Thing FRAP!
