Mancat Monday

TBT:  I mentioned being thankful for Binq a couple of days ago.  I should mention Taz as well.  He isn't as laid back as Marley nor as domesticated as Lori.  He still has some problems.

When he is good, he is very good.  When he is bad, well, it probably really isn't his fault.

The Good:  He adores me.  He wants to be wherever I am.  On the kitchen floor underfoot as I make my own dinner.  In the bathroom when I take a shower.  Sitting on top of me in bed.  He talks to me constantly.  No Siamese cat has even talked so much.

The Bad:  The same things, LOL!  He is underfoot all the time.  I can barely move around in the kitchen.  Wherever I am, he is between my feet.  His weight on top of me at night is awkward.  And he won't stop meowing at me.  He's the cat version of a yappy dog.

The Other Stuff:  He and Lori are getting along better.  I hardly ever hear a "fussy" lately.  OK, "sometimes" but when I witness it, Lori started it (she still has "issues").  He still pees high like marking territory, but he has adopted the litter box in the bedroom shower stall.  So I just take the box out and turn on the shower for a minute.  And it has been a couple of weeks since he peed on the bed (thank goodness for the waterproof sheet I keep on top).

He is active outside but comes in when I whistle.  And he may be the fastest cat I've ever seen run.  Marley walks in slowly, Lori trots, Binq is never far from the deck (and usually on it.  But Taz is all over the backyard.  And when he runs, he RUNS.  Full tilt.  If he ran any faster, he would lose some fur!

Taz is probably going to be a "live fast and die young" type.  He just never seems to do anything halfway...

Which feels sad, but he sure is "interesting".

I mentioned he is always underfoot and near, but it is more than just that.  I don't know anything about his 3 years before I adopted him from the shelter, but he is nearly obsessed with me.  Of all The Mews, Taz always knows where I am and he knows my habits.

If I go shopping, he knows the sound of the garage door opening means I have returned.  And he is sitting there when I come through the basement door.  When I am working in the backyard, he is always in sight.  I go out just for a minute to get the mail, and he is on the stairs meowing at me when I return.

I sometimes suppose he had absence issues as a kitten.  Maybe the person in his original home was gone most of the day and he was an only cat so was left alone.  Some cats adjust to that and some don't.  When I had Skeeter and LC, I was away 12 hours a day (9 hour days and a long commute).  But they had each other.  Maybe Taz didn't.

So maybe Taz (and I'm really glad I changed his name from Loki) almost gives me more attention than I can stand.  But I can forgive a lot of peeing for that kind of attention.

At my feet, constantly...
