Mancat Monday

TAZ:  I do love the tower of towels on the shoe rack!

And Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone who celebrates it.  Marley says TBT once made his waterbowl green and he dressed up in green about as much as he could...  Had Marley do it too.

Mea Culpa

TBT:   Oh Bast!  I messed up...  That obviously wasn't Marley in the picture Sunday.  I just didn't look at it carefully enough!  Orange/White cat, green hat, seemed right.   I just copied it from a previous year.  And probably a few years before that.  *Sigh*

I can't even find the post where I originally used it.  I trust it was used as a closest pic I could find for "representational" purposes.  Like "closest I could find of Marleyish cat in a hat".  I've used the pic a couple times ovder the years when I don't have a better one.  I'm terrible at creating new images and sometimes think, "well, that shows the idea".

So I do apologize.  It wasn't intentional.  I hope I originally posted that it was "Like Marley", but I can't recall 10 years ago.

But there are some real past St Pattie's Day pics of The Mews and I post them now in correction and apology...

St Pattie's Day 2011...

Sorry about the mess-up.

But since I am back to this week 2011, I might as well add a few pics of young Marley...

St Patty's Day

MARLEY:  Well, we got caught unprepawed, so we are using a previous picture.  Of ME of course!  It's about as green as I can get.

To be fair, here is one with Iza and Ayla with me on the green tomato cloth.  Actally, we all looked pretty good on green.  Bloo suited Ayla and Iza better, but green werked for ALL of us.

And we have the Dad Report:

I won the prize here by wearing a green towel while standing on a green tomato cloth....

Well I SHOULD!  I even have a clan crest...

St. Paddy's Day

We decided ta celebrate today by repeating the post from our first time all together on St Paddy's Day (2011).  Marley was still new and small then, and we had a CONTEST!  It went as follows...
 -----------------------------------

In honor of this glorious day, we decided to make up a celebration event (well, The Big Thing did, but we agreed to it).  We are calling it "Kitty Headbutt"or "Kitty Bumpercars".  It works like Sumo Wrasslin.  The object is ta shove the opponent off the field of battle, but it has ta be all 4 paws.  The difficulty is that ya have ta keep yer nose touchin the surface...

Here is the Green Field of Battle!  Its Skeeter's Gizzy Quilt.  In honor of the event, TBT transferred it to Marley (orange cat to orange cat)!
First, we tried it out in pairs.

Marley an Iza:  Iza won...
Marley and Ayla:  Marley won...

The Iza an Ayla contest was over too fast ta take a picture of...  Iza is the clear favorite for the Final.  The bookies will hardly even take odds against her!

So we came ta the grand battle.  All 3 head-to-head.  There was some manuverin fer position...
To the crowd's shock, Iza accidently stood up ta see where Ayla was, so she furr-fitted!
That left Marley an Ayla.  Ayla swerved an manuvered...
But it was too late.  She already had 3 paws off the mat and a firm headbutt defeated her.  Marley wins!  He celebrates his victory with an upraised roar to the crowd...
And is adorned with the Green Cape of Victory!
After the event, all were refreshed with a fine dinner of Duck Stinky Goodness!

St Patrick's Day

MARLEY:  I'm an Irish cat, ye know...  I even have a clan crest.  Really!

We lived right-next-door to the O'Bama Clan peacefully.

Its fer great Grandad to the 30th+ generation back catchin ALL the mice in the castle one year!  And he actally killed THE LAST SNAKE in Ireland in the garden.  It was a little one, but last is last.  Its a little-known fact, but we in the fambly ARE proud of it.

Evry St Patty's Day, we descendents drink a bowl of Nip juice in his memory.  Not that that has ANNYTHING ta do with his hunting prowess, we just love Nip juice...

St. Patrick's Day!

Lightpaw Lap(high)lander here:

Today seems ta be me own proper day, so I am gettin' ta post! The Big Thing, he isnt green; the other kitties, they arent green; in fact there's not much of the green anywhere in the house. I normally stay in the big TV Room, since the walls are a nice shade of shamrock, if ya know what I mean. I have noticed The Big Thing drinks his beer out of nice green bottles, so he's alright.

The day started good. Everyone in the house came and wished me a Happy St. Patrick's Day. The eating kitties got they Fancy Feast Breakfast and I got me usual saucer o' beer. The Big Thing was wearin his one green shirt (and efen green socks - now how many Guy Beins have green socks, I ask you?) and all was well with the world.

After breakfast the other kitties went to sit in the sun. I avoid that being of fair complexion and all, but they like it.

After a while, Ayla asked Skeeter when the door gets opened. Being that she has just recently been allowed ta go outside with Skeeter and LC on a regular basis, she is anxious to do so each nice day. She was a touch disappointed when Skeeter (seems like a nice Irish nickname, but the poor lad is ORANGE) told her there is no particular time so "it just happens O'Cassionally" (pardon the pun).

Well about that time, The Big Thing noticed they were all near the door and decided ta take some nice pictures (fer postcards perhaps?). He doesn't often find them all together, and even then had trouble getting them all in the same picture.

So he had this bright idea ta open the door "just a crack". That usually gets them crowding around. The poor lad, he no sooner opens it just a little when Ayla twists her head a bit an squeezes right through!

I mean, in one way, she is a whole 9 months old today and not a tiny kitten anymore, but in the other way she is still ONLY 9 months old and she is a slender lass indeed! Skeeter and LC just stared at each other saying "how did she DO that". I was laughing; "good for the clever little lass"! I like a clever lass...

Well, given that Ayla was out (of the picture, so ta say), he opened the door and they all went out. He took more pictures.

I reviewed them later in the afternoon. Pretty good fer freehand camera-holding, I must say (those are often blurry for the poor boy). I attribute it to The Day, and that he was blessed by The Saint hisself.

Skeeter, who almost nefer goes out in the daylight (wise old kitty, he) went right out and immediately saw a squirrel ta chase. The squirrel bein too fast fer his old feet, he came back up on the deck and smelled the nice flowers growin there.

Ayla followed him back on the deck. She loves that boy (as a Big Brother). She checked out the flowers too.

Then they all came back inside. Ya won't believe what they found. Now ya got ta be understanding that Skeeter and LC have lived most of their lives with The Big Thing getting kibble available during the day and some Stinky Goodness fer dinner. A while ago, they started getting Fancy Feast fer Breakfast "sometimes", and since Ayla arrived, "every day". Well, today they got Fancy Feast fer "lunch" too!

LC was happy cause she was late fer breakfast and Ayla had eaten her portion. Skeeter was happy, cause he just enjoys eatin good-smelly stuff. Ayla was happy cause she is jus always hungry!

The Big Thing was happy cause he needed to go do some work outside and needed to have the gate in the fence open while he did it.

All in all, a pretty good St. Patrick's Day fer all concerned! May the wind always be at your back...
