I brought Binq to the vet yesterday. She seemed unusually sensitive to being picked up with one hand under her belly and the other on her chest. She squirms like a large snake and struggles to be let down. I've never had a cat who reacted quite that way.
Just to get her into the carrier, I had to chase her into The Mews Room and set the carrier next to her (top open). Then scoop her up and quickly push her in and lock the top. And she reacted badly even though a sprayed Felliway int the carrier.
On arriving at the vet, we discovered she had pooped and peed it was quite a mess. The technician was good about wiping it clean, but I still need to hose it down outside. The good thing was that we actually had a still sample known to be hers. And the results were "no problems". Yay!
The head vet examined her (because he hadn't personally seen her before). Naturally, she was very subdued in the vet office. The vet could pick her up. I could pick her up. It was like when you bring a car to a repair shop because of disturbing noises and they never happen then. LOL!
He even palpitated her belly, examined her mammary glands, even tried to get her annoyed a bit. She didn't react much. If I did that, there would be bandages involved. Home and vet office are 2 very different things I guess.
He asked a lot of questions about her habits. But other than fighting being picked up, she is perfect! Apparently, she is just a "4 on the floor" cat.
But the relief of knowing she didn't have any physical problems was well worth the visit. As the vet said "Well, just don't pick her up, some carts are like that".
The odd thing is that she loves being up near my eye level. And she literally dances around in pleasure when I stroke/scratch the top of her. But not her belly.
I have almost no information about her life before I adopted her. Apparently some guy just brought her to the shelter, left a couple of documents, said "I can't take care of her", and walked out.
So, I can't pick her up, she is enthusiastic about attention, plays with toys fanatically, and eats anything I offer. Whatever her earlier life was like, I'll never know. But she is friendly and healthy, and that is really all that matters...
