A Grand Litterbox Experiment!

We were recently contacted by Ms Maureen, of the Tidy Cats “Breeze Litter System” projek. It seems that Maureen liked our Sunday Cat Food Review objektivity an asked if we would like to test their new idees. Well, bein that litterboxes are pretty important ta us, an we sure like improvements, we agreed immediately. Maureen sent us information on the new litterbox idees, and sent us one ta test out.

Fortunately, The Big Thing is a ‘Consumer Reports’ magazine reader type of Bein, an some a that has rubbed off on us. So he will be keepin detaileded records of events an reportin on our experiences in the Tidy Cats Breeze Litter System.

The Situation: There are 2 litterboxes in the basement, an 2 upstairs in the computer room (the better fer The Big Thing ta know they need cleanin). The upstairs ones are fer Skeeter (we are all writin this as if no one was individually writin it). He had problems with stairs awile last year an addin one upstairs helped him a lot. LC uses the basement ones almost alla time. When Ayla arrived in January, The Big Thing added a 2nd one upstairs an she uses anny of them about equal. The new Breeze Litterbox was put inna basement, as LC an Ayla both use those an Skeeter is “kinna set in his ways”. LC an Ayla are more likely ta accept change.

The Set-Up: The guidelines from Tidy Cats said ta initally leave 1 litterbox and set up the new one side by side. Ta help out, we set the Breeze Litterbox on the left side (most often used), and left the reglar one (scoopable litter) on the right. The Big Thing cleaned out the reglar box carefully and put fresh scoopable litter init. He put one small piece of poop in each box ta help remind us that both are usable. The Tidy Cat guidelines said ta scatter 1 ta 2 cups of the new Breeze litter pellets on the top of the old litterbox. The Big Thing did 1 ½ cups perzactly.

The Testing: We are free ta use anny box we want. Totally our preference! The Big Thing will be measurin the amount of use each box gets an he will be trying ta (discretely) notice who is using which boxes. Please unnerstand that there may be some mildly gross discussions of pee an poop. This is a sientifical experiment, and technikal terms haf ta be used. There will efen be some PICTURES. We ‘poligize in advance fer that, but it is necersary in the innerests of keeping proper records!

[Special Note: We get ta go outside a lot at this time of year cause the deck door can be left open in nice weather), so we often do our daytime “business” outside. But we are always inside from dark to lunchtime. In hot or cold weather, the door is kept closed and we only go out “sometimes”.]

The Breeze Litterbox Structure: There is a bottom tray with a asorbant pad (like a sticky-bein diiper) to capture pee. Above that is a shallow slotted tray wif dust-free clay pellets that arent asorbant. Pee falls through to the pad below an poop stays on the pellets. There are attachable sides (the front is open). We’re not usin those at first cause our reglar litterboxes don’t haf them. The scoop has slots shaped fer the top pellets ta fall back inna box.

Reportin: The Big Thing will try ta report on the usage every day (or two). The litterboxes get cleaned twice a day, so he will report “day” and “night” results.
