Skeeter Gotcha Day Again

Daniel S commented" "That was just plain MEAN. Cruel, even.

"I read your and LC's gotcha stories on your blog. It is a bit of a reach to call you lucky to go through all that, but at least you both wound up with a nice, safe, forever home. That's something.

"Was the Big Thing on of the people working on the shop, or did he just happen upon you passing by? Or do you even want to talk about it anymore?"

-----

Skeeter: The Big Thing wasn't one of the peoples that were making all the loud noises. But I am willing to talk about it.

The cave was being torn apart by lots of loud Big Things making horrible loud noises and leaving dust and bad smells all over the cave. It was like that for several lights and darks. I was left alone in a small cage near the front door. He started coughing as soon as he walked in. He almost walked back out, but he wanted a kitty and saw me there.

I was sneezing and everything. I had to poop and pee inna corner and stayed away from that. I think the kitty that was with me before died. It stopped talking and grooming. They put it inna plastic bag an took it away. I am scared of plastic bags top this day. That's were dead kitties go. I think I would have died inna light or two. But the Big Things came an looked at me an took me away.

They put me inna little box an I thought that meant I was gonna stop breathing like the other kitty. I got turned around an around and then felt I was moving without moving. But the box finally stopped moving. He opened it an I found I was in a large clean room with no dust or noise or ennything. I jumped out and ran unner the nearest big place I could find.

I was terrified. When it was all dark, I smelled some food. Not the old dry food I had before but wet smelly stuff. I snuck out to get some an ate it all quietly. When it got light, The Big Thing moved around an I got scared again. I found a little small space unner some warm wood thing and stayed there all day. I was afraid to leave. At the end of the day, The Big Thing was sitting there at the opening to my little hidey place. He put some wet smelly food at the opening, and I had to reach out to eat it. He gently rubbed the top of my head and gave me a little scratch behind my ears. Well, I couldn't eat the good food without him touching me.

An I liked it. I wanted more of that. He was so still an quiet that I wasn't afraid. An the place had no dust or noise. When I decided he wasn't going to hurt me and the scratching felt so good, I came further out. I ran back unner the little cave a couple of times, but he was there making nice sounds and scratching me when I came out. I still stayed in there all dark. But I had pooped an peed in there (well I had to) and I wanted out.

The next light time, The Big Thing was further away and offerred more good smelly food, so I ventured out. When he scratched me while I was eating I decided I would never stay away from him again.

An then he went away a whole light. I wandered around and found another older kittie. She was mean to me. I had to hide most of the time The Big Thing was away. I always stayed right with him whenever he was there. That was safe and I got those scratchies alla time. I even crawled under the blankies when he did. I would just stay there for hours with my nose outside them.

I'm not lucky, that's just the way it should be. Now LC, she was lucky. But that's her story…

I still stay next to The Big Thing. I still hate noises an plastic bags, but that's not his fault. He avoids those sounds whenever I am near. He unnerstands.

Kitty Tower Progress!

Skeeter and LC: Ooh we is thrilled. The Big Thing laid out parts on stands for us to sit on and lie down in. We had to be careful cause they weren't attached to anything. But we like them. They seem the right size for sitting or sleeping, and they are just right to hop onto higher ones.

He made the poles they will sit on, and made some little hole in effreything so little metal things will hold them together. They seem weak, but he says there will be really strong metal things to support them strongly. We dont unnerstand what he means but we will trust him on that! If he promises we can jump from the corners to the next levels an it feels sturdy, then that is what will happen.

He took some piciatures for us to post, too!

The piciature is a little fuzzy, but The Big Thing climbed up on a ladder til his head was against the ceiling (wow) so he cud make it look like it would seem from our POV on the floor. There is a base to the whole thing, but we told him not to block the view, so he took it away.

The difference in height between the platforms is higher than our backs but less than our tails held up. But we like to sleep unner the bed and that is the same height. So that is OK!

Notice the holes in the top of the cave. There is enuff of a top to make us feel safe, but we can crawl up through the top an hop to a platform. An we can sneak a paw-tap down through it. We like that lots.

This piciature shows it from a different angle, to show the sitting/sleeping platforms better. The Big Thing took a picture as if from above to show the sides and different directions the openings were, but it made us disoriented so we said to try this one.

He is going to start to add carpet tomorrow (oooh, softy carpetting). He says it can be tricksey, but he can do it in pieces. An he says there is another trick. The platforms can to moved around if we find any part confoosing.

He isn't going to try rope around the poles though. From what he has read, we wouldn't use it much and the carpet is replacable. That sounds OK to us. An we can always tell him to change the pole carpet to rope if we dont like the carpet.

So, the carpet tomorrow, and he attaches all the parts the next day or two. We can wait past tommorrow cause that is tuna day!
