Ooh, New Toys!

LC: I'm so happeee! The Big Thing came home with new toys 2 lights ago. Pom-Poms! I love them!

He pulled a little orange one out immediately and tossed it on the floor. I started battin it around an had a wonderful time. He would drop it on a chair and I would wait a lap, wiggle my butt, and then jump up there ferociously. An he would toss it at a door and I would know where it was going to go after that! When he tosses them right at me, they never even reach the door. He says I would be good at something called "ping-pong".

He left it on the floor when he went sleepy yesterday dark. The next day, he saw the pom-pom in the bedroom, in the kitchen, an in the sparkly-box room. An he never caught me moving it around (hee-hee).

But it disappeared. He thinks I've just hidden it (and that's OK with me cause I don't wanna be blamed for losing it). But I'm not gonna tell him I don't know where it is! He'll find it eventually an, inna meantime, he'll toss me a new one!

I didn't see the whole buncha them on the floor or I would have scattered them all (which is why he says he took the piciature while I was outside). I almost fainted when I saw the piciature of how many there are! But it is good to know there are so many of them! I want one of the big ones next. No wait, I want one of each!

Eggs

Skeeter: We tried one, but we don't know what the big deal is.

The Big Thing gave us our own bowls of little yellow and white chopped up stuff. We both sniffed it at looked at him... Well, I nibbled some of the yellow bits, but it made my mouth feel sticky inside and it took a lot of tongue work to get that feeling out. An I hadda drink a bunch of water. LC just sniffed it a few minutes and went to the never-ending dry crunchy bowl. She's sneaky that way... She looks to see if I eat stuff before she tries it herself.

The Big Thing said "OK, you don't like it that way so we'll try it next time with an uncooked egg all mixed up". An then he gave us the usual early light chickie flavored hashy stuff, so we'll forgive him. Maybe the uncooked egg will be better. He says it is "wet", an we like that.

Response to Comments

LC: Hey Max – We unnerstand about scarfin, its hard to resist. But fortunately Skeeter isn’t tryin to eat all the food. He just wants to change bowls often. I used to get annoyed, but I figured out there was food in the bowl Skeeter left so I just go to that one. We always end up with juss a little bit in each bowl anyway and then we sit down and groom each other.

Caesar & Princess – We have the “never-ending” dry crunchy bowl for when we feel hungry between the morning and night meals. An sometimes we just prefer crunchies anyway (if only to keep The Big Thing confused). But we do demand our wet smelly good food twice a day. Actually, The Big Thing doesn’t mind at all; he thinks it is “good for us”. We don’t care about that, we just like a change of food sometimes.

Parker – Your welcome to share a meal… Since we like stuff mixed the same way. We’ll just have The Big Thing open another can. 

Riley & Tiki – I don’t mind. Skeeter gets the sauce and I get the meat. And he doesn’t get at all the sauce, either. I get want I want, and I would complain to The Big Thing if it was otherwise! And he would do something about it, too! I figure the meat is the best part.
-----

Skeeter: On rules for big things:

Parker – We have told The Big Thing we want “egg salad (no spices)”. He says he doesn’t eat many of those egg things. But he also says the yellow yummy stuff we have licked from his food bowls is that stuff and we know THAT! So we want more. We juss didn’t know what it was, so it was hard to ask for it. He says he will cook us a WHOLE eggie for ourselfs and chop it all up (cause he didn’t know how much we liked it) a spoonful atta time to see how we like it inna bunch. We didn’t unnerstand that at first, but he reminded us that there are some things he eats that we like a little of but not a lot of. OK, I think that makes sense. So tomorrow, we will get an “egg salad” (and ALL egg, he says, which sounds even best).

Cyclone Cats – Well, sure, anything that tastes like fishies is better than not tasting like fishies! We can’t drink outta the quarium cause LC would get at the fishies and she is very good at getting them so The Big Thing has to keep a top on it. But we are allowed to drink outta the fishy ponds outside cause they are way too big for her to get them. Sometimes, The Big Thing takes water outta the quarium and we drink that.

Poiland Tribe – Hey, anything we can do to help you manage your Big Things is great. Glad we could help!

Food Report #1

LC: Report on the food…

We don’t like the stuff just dumped outta the cans, unless it is thurally mixed up to begin with. Skeeter just laps up alla the oils, and leaves me the kinda dry hash. I’m not add-dicted to the oils like he is, but I want some of it. An he just licks it up like crazy and then pushes me outta the way to lick up mine.

When The Big Thing mashes it all up, I get my share. I eat politely and steadily; Skeeter is just a pig. Fortunately, The Big Thing kinda watches us to make sure I get my share of the goody oily parts.

We like the stuff that is all hashy if there are oils. The always like the stuff in small pieces with sauces. We will eat tuna-flavored stuff in any condition and lap the bowls clean. I’ll even lick The Big Things fingers after he has handled the stuff.

If The Big Thing puts a couple leaves of catmint on the floor before dinner, we will eat anything. We like fishy-tasting stuff best even when it is not tuna. We don’t like fancy flavors. Our favorite flavors are Sea Captain’s Choice and Ocean Whitefish in sauce. Except for tuna, of course. We get a little chickeny stuff every morning and it isn’t our favorite, but after all dark and some light, we aren’t as fussy and anything wet-smelly is better than the dry crunchies and water!

As far as the Meow Mix dry crunchies go, we like them OK. But we love to get even a few pieces of the Hill Science Diet stuff. The Big Thing knows how much we love that, so he keeps them as a reward when we come in when called.

We are going to have to figure out where he keeps that so we can get at it when he goes to bed! It’s going to be a difficult problem though. He seems to keep it locked away in the big cold place we can’t open. Hiss!

Thursday Thirteen!

13 Things Big Things Should Always Keep in Mind:

1. A piece of paper on a wood floor is more comfortable to sit on than no paper.
2. When you step over a cat you better keep balanced on one foot because you never know if we will panic from where your awkward hulking feet will come down. Slow Big Thing foot movement is real good.
3. We LIKE sitting on newspaper, so stop trying to get us offa it.
4. The most interesting side of any door is the OTHER side.
5. Sniffing outside air is better than being out in it (but see 6 and 7).
6. Being outside is wonderful.
7. Being inside is wonderful.
8. Food is where ever you find it.
9. No one ever objects to the offer of a fresh crushed catmint leaf.
10. No one ever objects to a clean litter box, either.
11. Pooping outside in the leafs is better, but we want that clean litter box, too.
12. Water from ponds with fishies tastes better that that stuff in the house.
13. If it is raining outside the back door, there is no reason we shouldn’t check the front door too.

Spring2

LC Reports: Oh goodness, Me, Skeeter, and The Big Thing have been outside almost all day the past few lights! He has been diggin holes and movin plants around (why, we do not know). But we have been runnin around the yard too, and all 3 of us is tired each dark!

The Big Thing hadn't been providin much lap time for Skeeter, and he has been real touchy-feely about that. I sit down, an he comes over and wants to lay on top of me! What a big heavy lump he is. And while I usually just sit on the next chair, I miss the together-time, too. So, when The Big Thing sat in his favrit Big Thing chair, Skeeter demanded lap time and I stayed even closer than usual so I could get some chin scratching too. That was good!

Skeeter got his lap time and I got my chinny-scratches, so all's well here. The Big Thing has been puttin all kinda small plants in the ground outside. We looked at him like "well, why" but he says they will not only get bigger but they will have great big leafs for us to hide unner. He promises, and that's good enough for me.

He calls them "hostas" an he is sure puttin a lotta them in the ground. Why you bury something to make it come up big is beyond me, but he says so. It's not what happens when I bury things in the dirt!

SPRING!

Oh WOW, we had such a great day outdoorsy! It was all warm and sunny an The Big Thing was outside there most of the light!

He was rippin up vines and diggin in the dirt and measurin stuff and writing notes on paper to order new plants we can hide under. It was SO great! An he is gonna set up the water pumpy thingy that makes the pond water taste sweet and good and gets the froggies to come!

Wow he does such a lotta cool stuff outside sometimes. The dirt he ripped up smells so great an it made wormsies and other crawlie things move around a lot. We protected them from the nasty mean birdsies cause we like to watch the buggies crawl around. The birdsies just eat the crawlies, an we don't like that.

An The Big Thing says the next few days will be jus like today! Hurray!

Food Preference

We're setting up a paper thing that The Big Thing can keep track of our likes an dislikes. It's cool. He says it tracks the can flavor, how mixed it is, oily or not, whether he mushes it or not, if we eat it non-mushed, an some other neat infoies like that!

This is going to be a very interesting week! An he better member to take piciatures!

We don't know when he is gonna give us his best kittie food recipe...

Comments on Canned Food Presentation

Well, gee, we were surprised to get so many comments about how we kitties get our wet smelly good stuff presented to us. We were originally just curious cause we watch The Big Thing mixing it all up in the can an we asked him to not do it one time as a speriment. We liked it better all mixed, so we wonnered how other kitties liked it.

We learned more than we scpected to. We like hashy stuff and chunks and slices, and we don’t care much what kind of bowls it is in. Trust us, we’ve eaten out of almost everything (but we love the special matched bowls The Big Thing bought us last year). So keep in mind that The Big Thing was using the same bowls he eats out of for our food then – an he didn’t mind.

Anyway, so kitties like their wet smelly good food all mashed up and some don’t. Some need to have it in a special bowl. Some don’t like pieces only hashy stuff, and some like only chunks and not hashy stuff.

Wheeee! We are all special an unique an have our likes! So we hope no one minds if me mention some of the comments as xamples…

Grr, Midnight, and Cocoa like theirs hashy but not the oils mashed in. The Zoo likes only sliced dumped from the cans broken up just slightly (if we unnerstand right). Perfectly Parker says it must be hashy stuff an mashed. The Meezers like hashy stuff just a bit broken up an it MUST be in Fiesta Ware white bowls. Daisy said she wants it just scooped out and maybe mashed a little” an it has to be heated if cold.

An “Tara not the cat” says her kitties want hashy stuff not mashed up and no chunks or slices, but will eat it if she has to mash some meds inna it.

WOW! Whodda thought? So we have agreed to try our wet smelly good stuff in various ways over the next few lights and report on the differences… We have hashy/sliced/chunky stuff, stuff with sauce and stuff with oils that separate, and The Big Thing is gonna try and see if he can make something we’ll think is wet smelly good stuff. That will be tricky for us – he does a lot a food stuff that smells like ours but for him, so we won’t know when he tries that one on us. He “says” he can make a saucy good food for us.

LC here: I’ll be reporting and judging the foods. Skeeter will eat anything! I eat mostly anything, too, but at least I sniff it carefully first and look at it. I just can’t wait TOO long though, or Skeeter goes an eats it!

Canned Food Presentation

We want to ask other kitties how the canned food gets presented to them. We ask because a friend of The Big Thing says her kitties like it just scooped straight owtta the can with the meat and oils separate. Our Big Thing takes care to mash it all together so the oils are mixed in.

How do you get the canned stuff and do you have a preference?

Food

The Big Thing tried mixing his meat in wif our canned stuff, and we didn't like it. The canned stuff meat is all soaked with flavor and the added stuff isn't. He's gonna have to learn to make sauce like our favorite Chef "Friskies" if he wants us to eat mostly his own Big Thing stuff!

Oh sure, tidbits are great cause they come from him, but not a whole meal. An we sure wants bits of ham an the ocassional shimpsie. But we want our good smelly wet stuff from the cans for real meals!

He says we are crazy not to like real chickie and fishie, but we know what we like and we want SAUCE on it! So there!

Thursday Thirteen...

Things we do for The Big Thing:

1. Warm him when he sits.
2. Sit on the newspaper to hold it down.
3. Bookend him while he sleeps so he won't move around.
4. Guard the door while he sits under the flowing water thing
5. Cover our “stuff” in the litter boxes.
6. Eat pretty much anything he offers inna can.
7. Eat bits of meat he “accidentally” drops (a clean floor is a happy floor).
8. Sniff the outside air to make sure it is safe for him to go outside.
9. Hunt nasty voles that eat his plants.
10. Keep neighbor cats away who would eat our nice voles.
11. Wake him up in the morning (walking on him is good).
12. Purr, purr, purr!
13. Watch the sparkly box with him and point out all the mistakes about cats.

Warm Softie Bed Maintenance

LC: We love nappin on the warm softie bed, especially when The Big Thing isn't in it (he moves around an makes waves). But sometimes it has to be taken apart some for cleaning. We hate that cause it is off limits for hours! The bed seems to have a thin skin an we aren't allowed to walk on it (we made it bleed water a couple times and he had to do some stuff to heal it).

So, today, The Big Thing decided it was time to take all the comfy protective furs offa it and clean them. He closed the door to the softie bed room! GASP! Our water bubbly thing is in there... He put out a bowl for us next to the dry crunchies, but we aren't used to it being there.

So, I bugged him to open the door until he gave up (success!). He opened the door and tossed a blankie over the softie bed. I went straight for my water-bubbly toy. I know he had a bowl of the very same water next to our food bowls, but that's NOT where I expect the water to be an I WON'T have him messing around with that!

After that, I immediately took my usual light-time nap on the softie bed. I like the blankie, and the way it just lets me sink right into it (all warmed too).

I have an annoyed look cause The Big Thing waked me up by turnin on the light (an I'll bet Skeeter got him to do that).

He is actually pretty considerate. He had all the stuff he normally puts back on top of the warm softie bed ready to go, but I was all asleep on the blankie and he just let me stay there. He says he can do that stuff when we have our din-din.

Well, he better. He's here for US an he better not forget it.

Figurin Out The Food

We like The Big Thing's food, really we do. We demand little pieces of it when he is preparin it for hisself. It tastes great when he gives us a few bits. We love the bits of chickie or beef or whatever. An we love our Canned-Foods-Of-The-Many-Flavors!

But somehow we don't like a whole meal of the meats he prepares hisself. That's odd, but we think it is like the time he gave us a whole bowl of treats on one of those days he considers special. We just got sick and wouldn't even sniff those treats for several lights after!

So we is asking for our reglar cans of stuff and the sometime treat or piece of his meats. But only a little of those!

But we still want him to bring us a regular ole unsalty fishie. We are very sure we will eat that! And shrimpsies!

Saturday, April 07, 2007

Well, The New Food?

We aren't too crazy bout it. We sure thought we would be, though.

Friday is tuna night, and we wern't willing to give that up (since it seemed to be utterly safe. So The Big Thing gave us some of the boiled chickie for our early light meal and we were just like "huh"? There was no sauce!

We sure like bits of it when he is preparing it up on his cooking place an he tosses it on the floor, but after we had a few bites we were just bored. We like sauce with our meals!

It gets worse! The Big Thing discovered the fishies he bought were all salted. We don't taste salt all the strongly, but that was too much. We went runnin for the water bowl right off! So then he decided to soak the salty fishies in water to draw the salt out. Good idea, but then he forgot about it an it sit in a pot overnight. it wasn't worth eating after that, salt or no salt.

So we're not sure what we want to eat now. It would be best if he would buy us a few small live fishies to eat. After that, we would like a mousie each once a day.

Maybe he could catch some non-salty fishies when he goes out hunting his own food. If he can't get regular fishies, there is always ham and tuna and shrimpsies... ;)

Thursday, April 05, 2007

Oh Wow, Good Food!

We are such silly kitties. We thought the 2 chickies The Big Thing soaked in nasty-nasting juices and plants was for us. He brought our fishie ands a chickie just for us!

We get whole fishies!

An then he brought out our own chickie. No nassty plant flavors or nothin, just pure chickie. And it is ginormus!

Then, to be safe, he heated them both!

Safe Food!

Oh wow, The Big Thing decided to give us safe food until the whole kitty food problems are worked out! He brought home 2 whole chickens an a fishie! He is going to just heat them up in water tomorrow wif no nasty plant tastes, just for us. And we may get an occasional shrimpsie, too. He even has a weighing machinery thing to make sure we get enough. Ans we think we are gonna to get the chickie-fishie water to drink too.

He was too stoopid to take piciatures when he first starting making them into safe food, but we found some on the net.

We get the first of it next early light!

We have decided to just pass out from happiness...

5 Reasons Why We Blog

Icon Baxter Bentley tagged us for the “5 Reasons Why We Blog”. That’s so cool; we’ve never been tagged before (that we know of). We have to admit, though, that we answered some of those other questions goin around afore we understood what “tagging” meant (oops).

5 Reasons Why We Blog:

1. We can’t send snail mail to other kitties (because the stamps end up all stuck to our fur).

2. We can’t “speak” Big Thing talk, but we can type.

3. When other kitties come into our yard, they only want our mousies, so it becomes an argument rather than a nice visit.

4. The smartest kitties in the whole world are on the blogosphere.

5. We read Max The PsychoKitty’s blog for years and one day we decided WE wanted to do THAT!

We want to tag Buddah Pest with the 5 Reasons We Blog

April Fool!

There's no doggie comin to live with us. We were just makin a Funny!

The Big Thing put lettuce in our food bowls and then we found our litter boxes were completely empty! So after he splained it, we decided to try it ourselfs.

...... Ha ha ha ... ;)

Seriously Purrfect Day

Wow, we cant ask for much more than this. We (LC) was in the neighbor's yard, we (LC) explored the top of the condo again, we ran all round the back yard, we (Skeeter) enjoyed the warm socks outta the drier, an we both sacked out on the warm softie bed after! An that's not counting getting warmed breakfast fishie-tasting food, some treats for comin in when called (mostly cause LC came from the neighbor yard real nicely), an beefy chunks for dinner. And lap time and sctratchin time! Wow!

We started in the early light with LC wakin up in the top of the kitty condo! An then she decided to make sure all the fishies were OK.

She counted them carefully! They all seemed to be there, so everything was "OK" with her.

!

An after a last check, we all went outside after having the good morning smelly good stuff meal....

The Big Thing went out wif us for long time! We ran aroun the dafodils and the ponds and we even sniffed the far fence. There was a kitty in our yard! An something we aren't sure of.

After we had been inna backyard for a whole hour, we learned that The Big Thing had been busy warming clothes for us. I (Skeeter) grabbed the warmest pile for myself.

LC doesn't mind; she like to rest against The Big Things head softie!

When we curled up for the early dark, I went back to the socks and LC took her usual spot.

We're In Trouble!

The Big Thing's closest Aunt is being forced to move into an apartment and she has a DOG she needs a home for. We heard her talking to him... No one else will take it, he is too old to get adopted, etc, cry, cry, cry.

And he AGREED! Oh mouse-droppings; it's some hyperactive Chihuahua an it poops anywhere if it doesn't get walked 5 times a day. An it happily eats OUR KIND OF FOOD! The Big THing feels trapped (like we don't live here too?) an doesn't know what else he can do.

He says it can stay outside some and inna basement otherwise, but we KNOW what will happen. It will be up in our part of the cave in no time at all. And there will be DOG all ovver the place and nasty smells and we will even have to fight to get our food!

He says he will try an find a good home for it real fast, but really, how likely is THAT? We going to bite it's nosey an bunny-kick it REAL hard when it comes near our food bowls. But we don't know HOW we are gonna put up wif all the constant yappin.

AAAACK!
