Merlin

(Psychokitty Max reports) "Merlin, the little kitty we were pulling for, went to the Rainbow Bridge. He was at home with his Woman when he decided it was time, and he trotted off on his own terms."

We are so sorry bout Merlin. We did our best kitty mojo for him and we is sorry it wasn't enough. We are glad the end happened while he was at home, though. We wouldn't want to be alone in a strange place at The Earth End.

But sometimes, nothing is enough. We tried and tried to get Tinkerbelle back to us, and we wished and hoped The Winter Kitty would visit us again. Neither of those hopes happened, either.

We think we can hope for things but they don't always happen. We don't know why they sometimes don't happen, and that really upsets us. Life is supposed to be just good, but sometimes it isn't…

We know there were "kitties who came before" and lived with The Big Thing and lived their whole lives, so we know that The Big Thing lives longer than we do. When we meet over the Rainbow Bridge, his life will be over too, and we will all be together, all of us kitties and him too.

We will play together, all of us will be healthy and well, and he will be too. And we will all cover him in kitty warmth when we sleep, and we will play together or nap as we please with him and all of us will be happy again.

Goodbye, Merlin.

A Big Birdie, Again

Skeeter: Well, we actually got some of that big birdie after all. The Big Thing tore it to pieces yesterday (yikes, he is strong). As he was putting it into small containers ("no, don't put it away!") he pulled some from the middle and gave it to us. There was some odd taste to it, but we ate it. After that, he put down another little piece with skin, and we didn't like the smell of that at all. We left that and he just made that awful choking sound he makes when he thinks something is funny.

We felt fine all dark, but The Big Thing sure doesn't end up with much birdie that is worth eating! But, as LC said, he sure seems to like it lots... But then, he eats plants and bubbly liquids too. Go figure!

A Big Birdie

LC: The Big Thing cooked a big birdie today, and we didn't get a bit of it! It seems that when he heats those things up in the cave heating thing or the outside heating thing, we can't have any, but when he does that on top of the cave heating thing in a pot of water, we can. We don't understand that at all.

He says we'll just throw up because he puts hot weedy smelly stuff on them except when he "boils" them (that must be the heated water treatment). He has watched us begging the other times and he let us smell his hand once after he rubbed stuff all over the perfectly good birdie. Skeeter licked it once and he said that wasn't a good thing to do AT ALL! He drank a whole bowl of water after that (and he peed all dark too, hee-hee).

The Big Thing sure seems to like birdies made that way, though. He gave us some treats after wards. Well, he sure should. We had to smell that birdie, and not have any! Skeeter said he might stop bringing The Big Thing any more mousies, cause he might cover them with that smelly stuff, too.

Quiet Lights and Darks

Skeeter: The Big Thing went away almost all light yesterday like he used to do. I hope he doesn't start doing that again very much! So we just sort of slept most of the time he was gone. He came back before dinner, though, and with all sorts of interesting smells. I guess that wasn't too bad. None of the interesting smells were food, and that was too bad. But it was tuna night, and we likes that best.

Because we were stuck in the cave most all light yesterday, we stayed out late. We didn't get a special treat when we came in this time, but there was still some tuna left. Hmmm, maybe if we had eaten it all, we would have got a treat. I'll have to make sure not to leave any next time he is gone all light!

BD

Skeeter & LC: We can't not mention BD, one of the moast amazing kitties of all times! We never met him personally, but we knew about him. And we think he would have been a favulous kitty to have around. BD lived with another Big Thing our Big Thing knows and The Big Thing told us about him and we told the Mows.

BD went over the Rainbow Bridge August 10, 2005... We wishes we had met him before he left.

Wow a Real Treat for being outsife Late

The Big Thing left the hard clear thing open because it was cool outside. We got outsife in the Dark for hours. When he realized it, we were on the deck and we came right inside when he called. He gave us a special can of wet smelly good stuff! OOzies!

A Birdie at the Window!

LC: We were sitting watching the shiny box with the changing pictures today, and there was a sudden "thump" at the big clear thing we can't get through. We know what that means! A birdie hit it. Skeeter jumped off The Big Thing suddenly (and he yelled when Skeeter jumped). I was sitting on the otto-man in front of him and I jumped, too (but The Big Thing didn't yell when I did that - go figure). We both stared at the birdie laying there.

The Big Thing got up and stared at the birdie for a few laps, then went downstairs. Then he appeared outside with the birdie. We don't know how he does that, but he has done it before. We know what happens next, though. If the birdie doesn't move anymore, he opens the clear hard thing and we can get at it. If it starts to move again, he won't let us out and we have to stare at it while it flops around and finally flies away.

This one flopped around and finally flew away. Oh "mouse-droppings"! I like birdies. I don't like the fuzzy stuff they are covered in though.

Then The Big Thing showed up inside the cave, and he gave us treats! I suppose that wasn't TOO bad, but I would rather get at the birdie! Hmmm, I wonder if we can tell the birdies to fake-hit the clear hard thing and then fly away. Maybe we would get more treats then.

A Kitten Picture (Skeeter)

Hey, Skeeter here. While The Big Thing and I were looking for pictures of The Winter Kitty, we found some of me as a kitten. I can't believe I was ever that small!

Wow! My first escape from the Box the day I got brought here!

And then there is me next to the little TV remote:

Talk about "small"...
Skeeter: I found 2 great pictures of The Winter Kitty. He had such gynormous paws, and he was SO big too (even bigger than me and I was not small even then). Well, maybe some small, but LC was small next to me and I was small next to The Winter KItty.

He's the only kitty I've ever met bigger than me. He was like 2 cats in 1! And paws? He had almost 2 paws on every paw!

Presents!

LC: Ohhh, we got a present today from The Big Thing! He saw that we were getting annoyed brushing whiskers at the double food thingy all the the time (and Skeeter sometimes just moves his big fat head and starts eating out of my side).

So he brought us some separate bowls.

I had my first peaceful meal in unknown big moons! He put them a Skeeter-length apart and I had mine all to myself. We didn't brush whiskers even once! Aren't they pretty? I hope he saves the ones with the little kitties on them for me. Skeeter wouldn't care. I think The Big Thing could just plop his food on the floor and Skeeter would be eating it as it fell! I, of course, am more so-fisti-CATed...

It's 5 O'Clock Even at 4 O'Clock

Skeeter: I want my dinner! The Big Thing makes me wait and I'm tired of it. I WANT WET GOOD-SMELLY FOOD NOW! I don't CARE IF IT IS ONLY "4 MOUSE-DROPPING :30 PM"... I'm going to drive The Big Thing crazy un til I get it...

Comments Problem

Skeeter here: Oopsies, we seem to have did someting to our beautiful new blog so that kitties couldn't leave comments. We thinks it is fixed now so that anyone can leave comments and we is really sorry for that mistake. We is really new at this!

So feel free to go back and put comments on any of our posts and we will look for them everyday.

LC and I are so thankful to The Meezers for telling us!!!(http://www.meezertails.blogspot.com/)

A Kitten Picture (LC)

LC: The Big Thing still hasn't caught that diggy animal yet. He put empty plastic pots in the holes to see if they got pushed back out, but I checked again this evening and they are still there. Maybe it left. Skeeter and I would like to see it up closer, but I wouldn't mind if it was gone. I don't like the idea of some sneaky diggy thing jumping out of the ground at me when I'm not looking!

We found our kitten pictures! Most of mine don't show how little I was then, so I chose this one sleeping next to my enormous big brother (who was a whole 18 months) when I was 6 months old. I still like sleeping next to him because he is big and soft and warm.

It has been rainy for 3 lights now. I still go outside some because I don't mind it like Skeeter does. The froggies come out more when it is wet! But it is nice to have Skeeter out with me, so I hopes it stops raining soon…

Strange Animal

Skeeter: There's some weird animal that digs holes in our yard enclosed by The Wall, and The Big Thing has been trying to catch it. I don't mean he chases it around; he has this metal cage (uncomfortably like the kitty-prisons he brings us to the sticky place in). LC got in it once. You walk in to explore it, step on a thing, it it closes a door behind you! So The Big Thing wanted to catch this strange hole-digging animal (bigger than me!).

We went outside today and we could smell something, so we both went to look. The Big Thing saw us looking and ran to the metal cage. He seemed really annoyed, but it seemed the right size. He called us in (LC didn't want to, but I always come in when he asks). He took it to the big smelly thing in the garage and thundered off with it.

[Rare Big Thing note: Trying to catch a groundhog that is eating my garden, but I caught a possum. I have a Have-a-heart cage and release varmints caught inside The Wall safely far away in a field and wooded area]

Anyway, he came back without it. I hope he didn't eat it, it smelled terrible and we coukld see fleas! He put the metal cage back near the holes in the ground where we can smell the other strange animal. I hope he catches it, I want to smell it more closely. We've seen it before but can't get close enough to sniff it properly. It eats plants, so it isn't an underground kitty!

I wish I could figure out what it is... I wonder what it would taste like? chicken, or mousies? It wouldn't be fishies unless it is really wet down that hole.

Kitty Match Game!

LC: We haven't any prizes to give away (and like Im going to give my catmint or mousies to you), but we thought of a game to play. We start a sentence and you finish it. Winners gets mentioned.

Skeeter started it when I was a kitten. He would say "I ate 3 grasshoppers today and I..." And I had to figure out what happened. So I would guess "threw up"? and he would say no, "I hopped around all day". I didn't get it at first, but then I realized he was making a funny, like when he jumps on the table newspaper only there isn't any table underneath it and he BARELY gets his feet under him, LOL! We have a lot of fun with that.

So we are trying it out among the other kitties in the blog-os-fere...

When I make the starts, Skeeter decides the winner, when he starts them, I decide.

So, the first one is "I caught the BIGGEST mousie yesterday and it turned and said...

?

The Big Thing is Re-Tired

LC: Well, The Big Thing is home all the time now for 6 big moons, and we don't know why that changed, but we likes it!

We get the good-smelly wet food every day at the right time now and sometimes a little at brightest light. I don't mind waiting, but it keeps Skeeter from begging unendingly a bit before dinnertime. I am just as happy with the dry crunchies. Sometimes they taste like swimmy things and sometimes like animals I don't recognize, but I like them all.

The Big Thing is just around all the time. In front of the big box of changing pictures (which I like to watch and Skeeter doesn't) and making a lap (which Skeeter likes and I doesn't).

But mostly, it means I can go outside into the enclosed area anytime I want. Skeeter won't unless The Big Thing goes out with him, but I'm not afraid to go out there by myself. I loves it! I can stalk froggies, sit in the tall plants unseen and watch the yard, guard the yard from strange kitties (and chase them when they come after our catmint and mousies and froggies)and just sleep in the bright light that is sooo warm. I can roll in the dirt and dust all I want and I can pee and poop outside and I like that a lot.

And The Big Thing always sees when I want to come inside, too. That's wonderful! I just come up on the deck, and he seems to know when I am there and lets me inside again. Then I can go lick Skeeter and hop up on the big soft warm thing place and take a good long nap! I wish I could control the big hard clear thing that prevents me from going in and out, but he does a pretty good job of knowing when to open it, so I don't mind too much. And sitting up on the deck is pretty good too, even when I want to come inside. I can see over the Wall and there is interesting stuff outside it.

But he seems to know when I want to come back inside the cave, and that is good. It is good to have The Big Thing around all the time now. I never thought of that until he stayed all the time.

The Big Thing stays Home Forever!

Skeeter: After the last snowy time, The Big Thing stopped leaving the cave in the dark and returning in the next dark. He just stays here all the time! He says he is Re-Tir-Ed. It has been 6 large moons since he left every day, and LC and I love it.

We get to go outside in the big enclosed place surrounded by the Wall whenever we want, we get wet food earlier, we get to poop outside a lot more (and The Big Thing seems to like that too), we get to watch the birdies and tree-rats a lot closer, and it is so nice to just sleep on the tall grassy plants in the sunlight! And he is outside with us so much.

We follow him around a lot. We don't bother him much unless we wants scratching (which is often), but we always stay near. We feels safe in the enclosed place, but it is even safer near him. Now we can chase those strange kitties that used to sit in our enclosed place and nibble our kitty-crack and eat our mousies!

LC is so weird when she chases a strange kitty. She just bounces at them on all 4 paws and they get so weirded out that they run over the Wall! Then she comes back to The Big Thing with her tail all puffed and high. She only had one that stopped and hissed at her, but I went and helped her. It was so scared after both of us chased it, it actually went right through the Wall! Wow, I can't even get my head into the little spaces in the Wall. I wouldn't even try, because my whiskers tell me not to...

LC: LOL! Skeeter laughs at the way I attack strange kitties in our big enclosed Wall place. But they sure run when I bounce at them! They don't know WHAT is happenning. Well, one of us has to protect our mousies and froggies from strange kitties, so I do. I'm very brave! And I LIKE being very brave. Skeeter is bigger than me, but he is all "cautious" of strange kitties unless I actually get in a fight. Don't tell anyone I said so, but he is a very protective good "big brother". If I get in trouble, he really runs and helps me out. Not many strange kitties have a chance against me, and NO strange kitties stand a chance against US!

But it is really nice having The Big Thing around all the time. I really love getting to go outside whenever I want. And he sleeps on the warm soft bed longer these days, so I can lay right on him for longer and Skeeter and I really like that.

Oops, Just Had to Say

Skeeter & LC: A sneaky message from the present again (not the promised new post from CATching Up...)... The Big Thing was sitting in front of the shiny box where we see kitty pictures and mutterring about "H T M L" in spite of the fact that it is so cool he left the hard shiny thing open and it is dark and we can got outside when we want.

So we brought him a mousie to play with. We don't care if he calls then "voles", "moles", or "mices", they are all mousies to us. So anyways, we brought it to him in turns. One of us pawed it in a few feet ad then the other. And neither of us cheated a bit of pawing at all, not not a tiny bit. We got it near him and he couldn't even tell it was there! So we both pawed at him at the same time and he finally looked down and saw it.

He was so happy! He petted us and scratched us with both paws. He was very happy it wasn't alive anymore, too. We've learned he likes dead mousies much better than live ones! He likes to play with the dead ones. He moves them around to make them seem alive again, and we love that. Much better than the always-dead mousies he sometimes tosses around. He moves the ones we cath around on the floor and tosses them around and plays with them with us.

We like that cause we can still smell those mousies we catch very well. We both play with them more. And he tells us what great hunters we are! We likes that a lot too!

LC: Skeeter is kind. He usually catches the mousies, but he let's me share in the credit. I catch froggies. When Skkeeter gets a mousie, I enjoy it, and groom him. But he doesn't seem to care for the froggies I catch. But then Skeeter eats crawly and flappy little bugs, and I don't care about them either. The Big Thing relly doesn't like it when Skeeter brings crawly flappy bugs inside the cave. He just grabs them and tosses them back outside. Skeeter gets all upset and goes running out after them. And The Big Thing usually just closes the hard clear thing trapping Skeeter outside after that. And Skeeter hates that.

When I bring a froggie into the cave, The Big Thing gets all excited and helps me catch it again. He tells me I am a good huntress, but he also takes the froggie outside (and I follow it avidly). Then I get to chase it again (hop, hop, hop). But he doesn't close the door on me cause I stay outside with them mostly. Hah on Skeeter and his stupid mousies!

Skeeter: Well, The Big Thing likes the mousies I catch. He must eat them, because they are always gone when we come inside again. I eat my fill, and I give the last one to LC, and at least sometimes she will eat them instead of those frogs she catches. Wow, what a water-cat! Bleh! The Big Thing seemed pretty excited about the one we brought inside tonight. At least I killed it first! He got real bent up when I used to bring then in alive. I let LC help me deliver this one. We all played with it for a while. She just catches frogs, usually, so she needs some credit with the mousies. I even let her sometimes eat one when I would like to. So I made sure to let her help me bring this one to The Big Thing so she would get some credit and scratchings. Then we both went back outside. It is so nice outside in the quiet dark enclosed yard...

CATching Up to the Present

Skeeter & LC: After Boo left for her new home and The Winter Kitty stopped coming to visit, things fell into a routine for us for several snowy times. We would be home alone for most of the light, The Big Thing would visit when it got dark, feed us, go out into our big yard surrounded by the Wall with us for a while, and we would go inside and all sleep on the big warm soft bed. Every light (and sometimes late dark), The Big Thing would leave again, we would find the litter boxes clean, and we would sleep and play and eat in our big cave.

Sometimes we would stare out the hard clear things at strange Big Things and Little Big Things. Sometimes a strange kitty would come up on our "deck" and we would yell at it to go away and get out of our big yard (and leave our mousies, frogs, and kitty-crack plants alone).

And just before each snowy time came, The Big Thing would push us into our individual kitty cages and take us away to the stabby-place! We don't EVER forget that and we stays away from him for days. We even know where you hides the kitty cages and when he opens that door, we run and hide.

But when the last snowy time ended, The Big Thing stopped leaving every light! He is here all the time!

Next: The Big Things stays home forever!

Boo, the Visitor

LC: The Big Thing brought a strange kitty home one day a few snowey times ago. Well, not quite snow time, but close to it. The Big Thing called it "Thanksgiving, where we get to east some "turkeybird". He gives us some from his high eating place "where we are not allowed".

The Big Thing had left with the usual noise in the dark from the bottom of our cave, but he returned soon. That was odd. He didn't stay home long and took one of our litter boxes away. Them he left again. It took a while, but we could smell a kitty in the room of the smelly metal thing.

After 2 darks. he brought the new kitty into our house. She was afraid, but we were real nice to her. The Big Thing expalained that he has found her lost and afraid at a "gas station" in the rain in the cold where she had been thrown out of some kind of Big Things thing and that other Big Things had said she was "abandenened" by those mean Big Things, so our Big Thing took her to our home. We were real nice to her, and she was real nice to us.

But then, the Big Thing learned of some other Big Things that needed a kitty to love and they came to visit. Skeeter went an run and hide, but I stayed out with my new friend when the other Big Things came. The talked to Boo and they gave her treats (and I got some too). They picked her up, and she seemed happy with them, so she told me she wanted to go with them. I was sad about that in a way, but you always have a right to choose the place you live. And they were really nice Big Things, lots like mine. She felt so happy on the female Big Thing's lap, and both the strange Big Things were really happy about that.

We sniffed noses a last time before she went with them. Boo was so happy about the new Big Things. Maybe they just smelled right to her. Hey, I like the smell of my own Big Thing, and so does Skeeter. But she liked THEM. Good enough reason to go with them. But how did our Big Thing know that...?

The Winter Kitty

Skeeter: Every Snowy Time, this other kitty came to visit. We didn't mind 'cause he was really friendly and nice. First, 2 other Big Things would arrive for 2 darks and lights, then they would leave and this really big (but nice) kitty would be left behind. But he was good and shared food and sniffed us and let us sniff him. He snored though. I mean such really loud purrs on The Big Thing's bed that none of us could sleep at all; hardly even The Big Thing (and he sleeps long times). But other than that, he was really nice.

We could lay on him and he nevwer seemed to mind. And he had extra toes, too! Sometimes, he would spread them out and we could see all of them. I tried placing mine against his, and he had more than one extra from me! One extra claw on every foot at least! He stayed with us until the warm times came again many times. But he hasn't been visiting for many snowy times now. We wish he would visit again. The last few times the other Big Things visited, he didn't come with them. We hope they will bring him with them the next time. He is a real cool kitty. And Friendly! We likes that.

Mousie!

Skeeter: I didd it, I didd it, I didd it! I kililed a mousie in the house! Right next to The Big Thing's shiney screen (when he wasn't there) where we see the pictures of other netty kitties! I clawed it's tail off something wonderus to behold! It was weird though, it had only one red eye, and a hard shell under its fur... I tore up the eye, but I couldn't get through the shell.

And The Big Thing got all upset at first. Then he sat on the floor on all 4 regular legss and made funny choking noises. I was really worried, but he finally picked me up and made more like happy choking noises (like whe I tore up a bunny and and he said it was a big moth).

The Big Thing says he won't make the mousie look like a mousie anymore. And I got a new puffy thing to play with! It has kitty-crack in it! OOzie...

Another Picture!

Pictures!

We decided on some "glamour shots". We'll post kitten pictures some other day.

In spite of our colors, we can both disappear into the backyard. It doesn't matter whether it is orange/black/white flowers, orange/black/white gravel, or orange/black/white grass! We are so clever. And handsome!

Tinkerbelle Vanishes

Skeeter: The Big Kitty went away when I was 7 snows. I didn't know why. She was in the outside enclosed place and just never came back in for dinner. The Big Thing went out in our outside place and called and called but she never came back. He even went out the "Swingy Thing We Are Not allowed To Go Through" and called her food name over and over and was gone for naps, but she never came back. We heard him outside our Cave and our Wall many darks and lights calling her to dinner.

He held me and LC lots and dripped wet stuff on our fur, but we didn't mind because he was sad and I missed her too. I even went out the Swingy thing where there wasn't a wall. I was scared, but I smelled everything looking for Tinkerbelle. I could smell her lots, but I couldn't find her. I ran around a lot on a rope but I couldn't find her. I just lost her smell when we went away from our outside place. It just disappeared. I got scared and went to The Big Thing when we got away from our cave. We did that several times.

She never came back to dinner again.

The Fence

Skeeter: It really kept the Big Doggies out, and a lot of the mean Big Kitties, too! We got to go outside almost anytime The Big Thing was around. Well, he had to be there to open the great big heavy clear thing, and he had to be outside with us for many lights until he felt we were safe. And he was always outside when we were, so we felt safe as could be.

I liked going out around the outside sniffing the mousie tunnels in the woods (and I caught some, too). LC liked the froggies around the pond. I don't like those things, they are just cold and wet. She even ate one...

Tinkerbelle gets over the Wall. I don't know why she wants to. But she comes back with really good smells on her. We were getting along nice then. She was quieter. The Big Thing says a Big Doggie bit her hard when she was a small kitty. I think she is quieter (but sometimes mean) because that Big Doggie bite hurts her.

LC: Skeeter got all happy with the Big Kitty bitch, but I never liked her. She showed me how to get over the Wall The Big Thing made, but I would have figured that out myself. All she ever did ws get all snarly and mean when I followed her, and she let Skeeter eat when she was around but never me. Several years of struggling to get my share of the wet stuff, I had no use for Her. She wouldn't lick my head no matter how nice I was or how low I put my head. And I so much as stretched a paw to her on the warm soft bed, she hit me! Bitch! And I din't miss her at all!

Next, Tinkerbelle Vanishes...
