Monday Mancat

TBT:   Taz is such an utter food thief.  No pictures of that because I am always too upset at the time to think about pictures when I see him stealing my dinner,

I often have meat to thaw for dinner.  It is usually in a pan of warm water in a zip-locked bag.  That never stops him.  Last night, I thought I had it safe.  A spiced chicken thigh in a lidded pan and under my heavy wood cutting board.  I was only away for 5 minutes.

When I returned, he had gotten it out!  I don't know how he does that.

OK, I got him from the Shelter when he was about 3 years old.  Maybe he had a lack of food in his original home.  Maybe he always thinks about where food might be.

But I feed all The Mews 6 times a day.  Plump kitties are happy kitties, right?  Sometimes Taz even leaves some food in the bowl.  So it isn't like he is lacking for food in any way.  And he likes the various Fancy Feast flavors I offer (they all do).

He can't stop searching for more though.  He seems to be obsessed with finding it.  Apparently, I am going to have to put the thawing pan in the oven or M/W.  I'm pretty sure he can't open those.

But it is Mancat Monday so here are some general pictures of my beloved food thief.  Ah, I did find some after all.

Oh wow...

Sometimes I forget what pictures I have...

Reviewing August

TBT:  August was a busy month for The Mews.  Looking back on it Lori and Marley had birthdays, Marley was celebrated with a wonderfully-creative post in the Zoolatry "Friends Month" project, and we celebrated our 18th year Blogoversary!

In the past, Birthdays and Gotcha Days and such have been somewhat randomly scattered around the year.  But August seems to be a "collective" month for many years to come.

And there have to be some pictures of course...

The Mews:

Engaged in their favorite wake-time activity.  And each knows their own corner of the mat

And me :

(an old one):

Forgive the baggy pants.  Those suspenders/braces had kind of lost their elasticity.  The newer ones pull up a bit more and those wrinkles just disappear (He said "smoothly").

Mancat Monday

LOKI:   Flash takes sharper pics, but "off" gets my color better.  Even with TBT making adjustments.

I'm less orange than the 1st but more ginger than the 2nd.  I blame TBT for not getting my colors right every time.  You would think he would have figured this out by now.  Does your Bein mess up yer colors like that?

Caturday Saturday

TBT:   First, my apologies for not visiting our friends much lately.  Early November was so busy cleaning up the yard to close most of it for Winter and also planting 100 pansies, shredding leaves into the lawn with the mower, and bringing tree debris to the County mulching center.

And then there was Laz leaving us.  Hard and mentally-exhausting posts to write.  I promise to start getting better about visiting again soon.

Second, I decided this would be a good day to post some of the best of the last of the unpublished Laz pictures.  He deserves that, and it will be good for me, too.

When he was calm, he was good...

He played with Marley nicely.

They look the same size here, but Marley was 15+ pounds and Laz was 8.4 most of the time.

And finally, a lovely graphic from Ingrid of https://pipoandminkoandfreckleswoofs.blogspot.com/

I posted the Vet and "at home after" pictures HERE, if you want to see them.  It's a blog I really just use for tests and "difficult" pictures and posts.  You don't have to go there, but you can.

Monday Mancat

We have some confusion with pics right now.  Some may have been saved on the camera and just showing up today.  Or we downloaded them twice.  Not sure.  If we have used any before, forgive us.  We are kinna distracted with Laz-problems...  He is having some "issues" again.

TBT will try to sort it all out later.  But we will continue with what we have for now...  We have some pics to use up...  MOL!

Laz in morning sunlight...

---  Edited to add that we missed it being Rainbow Bridge Day.  Miss many friends but dare not name "some" because "where do we stop"?  All are missed...

So we will remember our own (safely)...

There were many you (and we) never knew (and we don't have pictures).   Mischief, Cat Ballou, Tinkerbelle, Jeremy, Hey Yu, Cher, and Kenani...  But TBT remembers them all.  You knew Skeeter, LC, and Iza...

So, for him (remembering so many), we honor this day.

Twofur Tuesday

LAZ AND LORI:  We had a real drag-out FRAP/Wrassling/"Almost Fight" last night.  We go a bit nutso sometimes.  In fact, we went so crazy, we both fell to the floor from the top of the bookcases!  We get pretty fierce with each other sometimes!

TBT worries about us sometimes.  But then he sees us napping together in a couple of hours and relaxes a bit.  We are just "2 wild and crazy cats"...

We wish we could provide pics of us falling off the bookcases, but TBT isn't that fast with the camera.  MOL!  It actally takes a couple minutes fer him to find the camera, start it, adjust it, click.  And we don't wait around fer all that.

The End Of Year Review

I thought we should look at favorite pictures you all enjoyed most.

This is a good one from years past...

Every picture with Laz and Lori napping together was good.

But this is a year in review, so:

Caturday Saturday

Based on some suggestions from the poll we posted about our sidebar pictures, we have decided to put kitten pictures there for a few weeks and then go to adult ones.  The Adult Mews like their kitten ones for a while, but Lori says she is a womancat now.  So they agreed to balance it.

Laz's all-time best picture stays as it is...

Thursday Survey

LORI:

I have a QUESTION.  I asked TBT about it yesserday.  In the right sidebar of our blog, there are pictures of all us Mews.  Mine is a kitten one.  The other Mews all have adult pictures.  I am a womancat now.  I had my ladygarden operation, my first birfday, and my first Gotcha Day.  I weigh more than Ayla and am catching up on Laz (I'm 7.8 lbs now and he is 9.2 and I eat more than he does).  TBT says next year, we will weigh about the same.  He says I am going to be a big healthy strong womancat like Iza was (about 10 lbs).  I'm getting bigger every day, I think.

So, should I get a more grown-up picture?

He says there are various choices to consider...

1.  Change all the pics to more recent adult ones to reflect reality.

2.  Show us all as kittens (for cuteness and memories).

3.  Leave me (as the newest) as the kitten pic.

What do you think?

Lori Tuesday

TBT:   Here are the last of the Lori's First Week pics.  The pic processing has been quite an educational adventure.  But here they are.

Again, hope there aren't too many duplicates...

Monday Lori

TBT:  Megan commented about Lori "She looks like she's going to be quite "chunky" - like Iza".  Indeed she probably will be.  Tonkinese seem to be a hybrid of Siamese and Burmese, and except for the light fur color (usually), tend to favor Burmese traits.  Burmese are larger, more physically "solid", and muscular compared to Siamese.

Ayla is small, lightweight @ 6.4 lbs, and an agile jumper.  I got a good deal on her BECAUSE she was the smallest of the litter and considered too small for breeding.  When I was young, my family had 2 Siamese females in succession and they were easily 9 pounds.  And I had a friend with a male Siamese and he was probably 12 pounds.  So Ayla is a bit at the small end of the Bell Curve for even "famously-slender" female Siamese.

I adore her small size and light weight!

But yeah, Lori isn't going to be like that.  She might be lighter and more agile than Iza; it will be a couple of years before I can be certain.  I suspect she will be better at jumping than Iza.  At about a foot from nose to tailtip and 3.4 lbs, she is preparing to jump to the top of the shoerack 4' above the frame (and from the solidity of the frame) of the waterbed

I watch her little rump twitching and her back legs alternating in practice sometimes.  But she knows she is not ready yet.  It is like watching a baby bird testing out its not-quite-ready wings.

I have some good newer pics now.  But I still have more pics of Lori's First Week to show today and tomorrow, so you will have to wait (bwa-ha-ha).  But here is the next-to-last batch of Lori First Week...
