Easy Like Sunday

Usally, Easy Like Sunday is about us nappin all peaceful-like.  But we got a suprise this morning!  TBT put a big bone with meats on it on our food mat.  We were all unsure about it.  We mean, meat is good and there aren't many kinds we wont eat.  But we arent usally allowed ta have bones.

Well, THIS bone was so big it was OK...

(TBT:  Just so you know, it was a pork shoulder blade roast and the bone is flat and seems indestructible).

LAZ:  I discovered it first!  It had slight spicy smells, but not too much and I gnawed some meat of it.

It was SO large, I just couldnt resist it.
Worked at it from EVRY angle!

AYLA:  I found it next (Marley was outside).  It was "innerestin".  TBT said it was "pig".  Tghats not a flavor we get in Stinky-Goodness cans.
And I wasnt ecited by it.  Both planty and bland.
But meat is meat, so I gave it a final gnaw...
MARLEY:  I came inside and found THIS.  I SNIFFED.  I LEFT.  I like my food ta be fish, chicken/turkey, or cow.  TBT can keep the pig ta hisself...

But it WAS nice of him ta offer some of his food.  It made us all feel included in his meals.

And then he gave us some of our favrite normal stuff the rest of today:  turkey&giblets, fish&shrimp, toona.  And we played the "tossed kibble game" later.

Oh, BTW, TBT says we should wish all the Moms out there "Happy Mom's Day".  We don't really remember ours birth-moms very well and we dont have a Bein Mom.  But we know most of YOU do so here is to them...

Natural Balance Rabbit Formula Treat Review

AYLA:   We just learned about these great new treats provided as a test sample from Chewy.com.  Well, they are new to US, because TBT admitted they had arrived in JUNE but he "set them aside fer later" an kinna forgot about them.  We've seen where he puts stuff "fer later", so we can unnderstand they got a bit lost.

But he found them and brought them out last night.  Found "what" you ask?  Well, THESE!
RABBIT TREATS!  No, not treats fer rabbits (an in fact you rabbits out there may want to stop reading).  Are all the rabbits gone now?  OK...

These are rabbit FLAVOR treats fer cats (though we are sure other predators will like them too)!

TBT surprised us with them at dinnertime.  His dinner, not ours.  Ya see, when HE eats, he tosses kibbles around the room, and we chase and eat them.  We're not starving, we just enjoy a chase with a tasty reward at the end.

Well, then he snuck a few of THESE things into the kibble toss.  We each caught one and THAT perked up our taste buds!  Usually, we just sit around waiting fer more kibbles ta be tossed, but THIS time we were all right at his feet staring at his hands intensely waiting fer MORE.  And we got more.  We chased THOSE treats with more enthusiasm than the kibbles fer SURE!

So we recommend these Natural Balance Rabbit flavor treats.  And you all know us, iffen we didnt like them, we would say so!

And, BTW, if you are a rabbit and read this far and try these treats and LIKE them?  We wont tell yer friends.  As far as WE are concerned, what happens in the hutch stays in the hutch...

And did we like it?
We were all over them later.
The competition was fierce.
Even *I* fought fer my share...
And we were all disappointed when TBT closed the pouch for "tomorrow".  But at least there will be "tomorrow".

5 PM UPDATE: "Tomorrow" came sooner than we thought, cuz guess WHO fergot to put these great treats away carefully last night?  We found the bag.  It wasnt easy ta open, cuz it has one of those evil resealable tops, but we CHEWED our way into it.
And we dint leave a CRUMB in it...  Really.  TBT felt all around inside the pouch an there wasn't the least bite in there.

PARTY TOMORROW!

We decided that since we had all this good canned foods and an automatic reorder arrangement with MR CHEWY, we would have an EATING PARTY, TOMORROW  on Friday The 13th.  Our explanation to TBT was that Iza dint really have a Birfday Party last Friday, so she is owed one an the following Friday would be good.

TBT just stared at us at first, then started that awful Bein laff noise.  But he said "OK"!

Of course OUR idea is to see how much of the pantry shelf of new foods we can ALL eat up in one day!  But dont tell HIM...

There wont be any real hams, roasted chickens, turkeys, ground cows, real live dead shrimps, or even fishies.  Instead, there will be the best canned foods we know of.

Sure, there will be toys ta play with, an the cat trees ta climb (ya gotta work up an appetite before and burn off some of that food after ta make room fer more), but the main purpose is just to EAT!

We'll have everything we showed the other day...
Nutro Max Chicken&Lamb, Nutro Max Chicken&Liver, Nutro Max Turkey&Giblets, Halo Spots Stew Lamb, Halo Spots Stew Chicken, Halo Spots Stew Turkey, Wellness Chicken, Wellness Turkey, Avoderm Chicken, Royal Canin, an Eukanuba Lamb and Eukanuba Chicken.

But we also have some we liked once an dont now.  Like Soulistic Chicken, Evo Chicken&Turkey, and Castor&Pollux Chicken.

So you can come by an TRY ALL 15 ta see iffen ya like any of them.  Or just eat the favrits ya know.

TBT says that, given the Roman Gorgy planned (oh drat, he figured it out; we JUST cant fool him sometimes), he will set up extra litterboxes an keep his special Throw-Up Kit (a plastic dustpan an a squegee) close at hand.

Ya gotta admit, THIS will be a different kind of party.  Eat want ya want, eat til ya drop, and there will be Nip all around ta keep ya hungry!

And we will have TBT take a picture of all the empty cans afterwards...

It starts at Midnight tomorrow an lasts til Midnight that night!  Lets see how much we can eat.

Evo Problem?

MARLEY:  I eat almost anything. And we have all LOVED our Evo 95% Chicken stuff.  But all of a sudden, none of us like it anymore.  Anyone else suddenly noticen that?  TBT says he knows it got bought by some place not so famous fer great quality food.  An that it MIGHT fall in quality.

So he wrote to them and they say they havent changed anny of the ingredients.  But he thinks there might be ways ta say that an still have made some kinna change (quality, percentages, etc).  So is that them or is it just us by changin tastes?

Anny opinions?

Food Review

LC: WOW! We finished eating the "really healthy" Stinkey Goodness from Holistic Pet Warehouse. We were impressed! The new stuff is mostly meat an even the slight vegtable taste is not bad (an mebbe even good fer us).

TIKICAT - "Chicken" - Paws up 2 of 3. And I even went back an finished my bowl in private later.

WELLNESS CORE- "Chicken, Turkey, and Chicken Liver" - 3 of 3 paws up. We all loved it!

CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE CAT LOVER'S SOUL - "Chicken Salmon, Turkey, Duck" - 3 of 3 paws up. We loved it so much the bowls were clean. Not a speck left.

PINNACLE - "Ocean Fish" - We wernt too sure about this one. Iza ate most of hers, Ayla nibbled a bit, an I walked away. But the next morning, it was all gone. Our 2nd least favrit of this group.

WERUVA - "Chicken Soup" - Nope. Way too much veggie stuff. Like pureed veggie with some chicken added. First ingredients were chicken, water, carrots, an peas. Iza ate half a bowl but Ayla an I wouldnt touch it. Iza efen tryed ta "cover up" the bowls after. Who wants carrots an peas?

EVO - "Turkey and Chicken" - Iza and Ayle scarfed it up. I wasnt really thrilled. But it WAS meaty, an I finished my bowl later.

We think we could get ta like all of these but the Weruva an Pinnacle, and can add the Avoderm and Blue Spa Select from the previous batch. So The Big Thing is gonna go huntin those tamorrow. We will use up the Friskies an 9 Lives fer breakfast then have the "good stuff" afterwards.

So, it looks like our several years of taste-testing and learning has had a result.

Food Review

LC: Well, we finished eatin the "good stuff" available at PetsMart an PetCo. The Big Thing hunted "Blue Spa Select", "Avoderm", and "IAMS" there.

First, I gonna hafta admit that I am gettin fussier about tastes and not eatin as much as I used to. Ayla is a happy eater, and Iza will eat sawdust iffen ya pour chicken fat onit! An sometimes we will walk away at first, but come back an eat it all up later. So this is just some general opinions...

BLUE SPA SELECT - "Savory Seafood Stew" - Iza and Ayla loved it. I ate some. "Turkey and Chicken" - Iza and Ayla loved it. I ate some, but I went back and finished my bowl later. "Savory Salmon" - We all loved it! "Tuna Grill" - Only Iza loved that. Ayla and I came back later ta eat some more of it, but Iza licked the bowls clean after that.

AVODERM - "Ocean Fish" - 3 Paws up! We all loved it and left no scraps behind. "Chicken" - I dint like it all THAT much, but it was mostly meat so I went back and ate more. Iza and Ayle ate it right up.

IAMS - Im gonna say right off that we all ate it eagerly (well, I dint like the Turkey an Giblets so much, but we all liked the "Salmon", "Chicken", "Oceanfish". And Iza an Ayla liked the Turkey an Giblets. So the IAMS was popular. But it has "by-products" in it an we wanna eat "healthy".

So we are turnin our attention ta the new "better" healthy stuff The Big Thing hunted at Holistic Pet Warehouse an will see iffen we like those.

7 cans, 1 week of dinners. We expect to report on those next Thursday...

But, why doesnt anny company offer canned mousies? We KNOW we would all love THAT!

MORE FOODS!

LC: Oh WOW! The Big Thing brought home even more "fancy" foods taday. We are livin "high"!

We will let ya know how we like them soon, but we are jus finishin up the previous batch of the earlier good stuff an will report on that inna coupla days.

But the back story of this stuff is SO COOL! TBT went huntin the internet fer "Chicken Soup For The Cat Lover's Soul" cause it was recommended ta us. Well, he found places what sell it and he started looking fer the cheapest places ta order some. The best place he found was a place called "Holistic Pet Warehouse", so he started fillin out the internet order. Then he noticed something...

Well, ya WONT belief it! The Holistic Pet Warehouse isnt a chain. It is jus 1 store. The AMAZIN part is that the store is RIGHT HERE! Yeah, in our town! Only 3 miles away from us. So he got in the noisey machine an drove right over there.

I'll let him describe the visit (well, I wasnt there, Duh).

THE BIG THING: OK, OK, LC, calm down. Well, I opened the door to the Holistic Pet Warehouse only to be greeted by a little yapdog. It was friendly though. I think they have only recently opened, cause there are more shelves than products. But the 2 people there were friendly and they are quite knowledgable. Their idea is that they will sell only premium and healthy pet products at warehouse prices.

Sure enough, I checked every brand of cat food they had and there wasnt one with corn or wheat gluten or "meat by-products". Even the kitty litter is "the good stuff" (World's Best and Yesterday's News). So, I bought cans of "California Natural", "TikiCat", "Evo", "Weruva", "Pinnacle", "Chicken Soup For The Cat Lover's Soul", and "Wellness". I skipped a couple the cats had tried and didn't seem to like much ("Nature" and "Avoderm"), but I think I will try those again next visit.

If you kitties like any of those brands, or if your Beings want to give them a try at a good price, I encourage you to visit their website Holistic Pet Warehouse and check them out.

I enjoyed talking to the people at there. They knew all about ingredients that can cause health problems in kitties, the dangers of clay scoopable litter, etc. So go visit their website...

Oh, I should mention (because I always think only in terms of cats) that they also sell dog foods and stuff ...

Food Review

LC: In case yer wonderin why I am doin all the food reviews lately, its cause I am the fussiest. That makes me the best critic. Besides, Skeeter an I did all the Food Reviews last years so I am esperienced at it.

So a few days ago, The Big Thing went out huntin Stinkey Goodness again. That surprised me, cause our pantry shelf is still fulla Friskies. But what he did was ta get all the flavors of the fancier [TBT: Healthier...] brands we liked.

So now we get ta try more flavors of the ones liked the chicken flavor of. Heres a list:

Avoderm - Chicken, Ocean Fish

IAMS - Country Style Turkey an Giblets, Succulent Salmon in Sauce, Gourmet Chicken, an Select Oceanfish (They do like fancy names, dont they?)

Blue Spa Select - Savory Seafood Stew, Tender Turkey an Chicken Entree, Savory Salmon Entree, an Tempting Tuna Grill Entree

We even get some "Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil"!

Cool... I'll let ya know how we like them when we have tried them all.

THE BIG THING: I thought I would add something about the ingredients. LC can't read the tiny print on the cans.

The Avoderm chicken flavor, for example, has "chicken, chicken broth, ocean fish, turkey, kidney, and chicken liver" before it mentions anything like "oat bran", so it must be mostly meat.

The Blue Spa Select Turkey and Chicken lists "Turkey, chicken broth, chicken, and chicken liver" as the main ingredients.

The IAMS Turkey and Giblets has "Meat broth, chicken, beef by-products, turkey, turkey by-products, brewers rice, beef liver, and chicken by-products" as the main stuff. I didn't notice any giblets mentioned, but maybe it is in the "by-products". And given that list, no surprise it was the least expensive of the three brands.

They average twice the cost of the Friskies, but that's still only $1 a day or 33 cents per cat. It costs me more than that just to have a glass of wine with dinner. I can live with that...

I want my girlkitties to eat healthier food and avoid the problems with wheat and corn gluten that I keep reading about. I think that stuff caused problems with Skeeter.

Oddly enough, when I tried feeding them "real food" (like poached chicken or fish), they didn't like it much. So this newer stuff is the next best thing.

Food Review

LC: More about foods... At the same time we were tryin the Addiction canned stuff, The Big Thing went out an hunted down some other brands what dint have much of the corn or wheat gluten stuffs in them and seemed big on meats. He brought back basic chicken flavors of Nature, Authority, Science Diet, Iams, Blue Spa Select, Proplan, Avoderm, an Natural Choice.

The Iams an Blue Spa Select got approval from all 3 of us, the Avoderm got 2 yes votes (I dint like it much), and the Authority got Iza's vote. The rest of them were unanimouse "NO".

TBT was surprised by all that. He examined the texture an smelled each of them before serving them to us, an he thought they all seemed pretty good. Well, what would HE know about Stinkey Goodness? Silly Bein, Stinkey Goodness is for KITS!

Actally, I am kinna surprised too. I thought Iza would eat ANYTHING!

More about the winning brands soon...

Food Review

LC: We have been avoiding the Food Review cause we felt bad about the results. After all, the nice people at Addiction Foods sent us free canned an dry crunchy stuff fer free. The canned flavors were Eel, Brushtail, Venison, and Salmon. We tried one flavor each of the past few weeks. So, we regret ta say we dint like a single one of them. Iza did nibble at the eel briefly. But then, as with the others, she tried ta "cover-up" the bowls.

We did like the 2 dry crunchies though (Venison and Salmon), and The Big Thing may buy more of that.

Of course, thats just us. Other kitties might love the canned stuff an not the crunchies. I mean, we dint like the Merrick canned stuff either an I KNOW some kitties who like that.

Addiction Canned Food 3

THE BIG THING: Well, I didn't have any great expections for the 3rd Addiction flavor "Unagi and Seaweed" mixed with Friskies Chicken. And I was right. None of the cats would go near the stuff. They sniffed, Iza licked it, but not even Iza would so much as eat any...

I know that some cats like the Addiction canned foods, but mine sure don't. And I made sure they were hungry when I offerred it. I gave them 1/2 the regular canned food for breakfast each time, and they still didn't want to eat the Addiction canned foods.

Maybe they are just too used to the Purina and Fancy Feast, but I have to say that they just didn't want anything to do with the Addiction canned foods. LC and Ayla had the same aversion to Merrick and Evo canned food.

They like the Addiction dry stuff just fine, though. Apparently, they are all less fussy about dry crunchies. LC considers Hill's Science Diet dry food to be treats, so I reserve it for that purpose. None of them like standard kitty treats (dry or soft).

But they don't seem to like the Addiction dry crunchies any BETTER than Meow Mix or Authority, so I won't be bothering to get the the Addiction dry stuff once it is used up.

Food Review Experiment

THE BIG THING: OK, I have other "Primo" canned cat foods to test along side of the Addiction cans.

On the Addiction side is "Brushtail&Vegetables", "Unagi&Seaweed", "Salmon&Potatoes", and "Venison&Apples".

The other contenders are: "Pro Plan Ocean Whitefish&Salmon", "Nature Salmon, Mackeral, and Sardine", "AvoDerm Ocean Fish", "Blue Spa Select Turkey and Chicken", "IAMS Turkey and Chicken", "Hill's Science Diet Seafood Entree", "Authority Chicken and Lamb", and "Natural Choice Chicken and Lamb".

I will try them each night with a small pure portion of each first , mix it with 75% mixture of regular Friskies Chicken flavor if they don'r like it "pure", and give them pure regular if they don't eat the mix. Don't worry, no cats will go hungry by only being given something they don't like to eat.

The purpose here is to see what they LIKE to eat; not what they are WILLING to eat if starving. I wouldn't do that to them. If we waste a bunch of food for a couple weeks, well that's life. At least I will know what they PREFER to eat.

And I plan to try to incorporate a few home-made foods into the process if I find any good recipes. A local newspaper vet has a recipe for home-made cat foods that would take hours to find all the ingredients for (my area is not big on health-food stores that carry the weird ingredients), but I see no reason I can't try them on poached chicken breasts all minced up, hamburger, ground lamb, and squished whitefish.

Oh my, I seem to be talking myself into a more complicated feeding arrangement than I expected. I better hold off on the REAL MEAT food til later...

I'll stick with the canned food comparison for now...

New Foods

AYLA: We hadda new food taday! It was Natural Choice Chicken an Lamb. We aint nefer tasted lamb afore, so we kinna backed away fer a moment. But we kept sniffin it . We all looked at each other like "is this OK ta eat?" Iza started eatin it, then I did. LC watched us carefully. When it was clear we liked it, she at some too.

It wasn't exactly like our Friskies, though. We felt full quicker. And we kept moving around from one bowl to a other.

The Big Thing allus puts our food bowls a little more than a cat-length apart (cause who wants anothers kitty tail swishin in yer face while ya eat?). But we allus eat in the same place. LC likes the left end, I like the right end and Iza eats in the middle. Iza been allowed ta eat wif us again cause she has stopped trying ta eat all our foods. I defended mine, but LC used ta leave when Iza wanted more food. Well, Iza has learned ta be polite and LC has gotten more assertive in protectin her food bowl. So we can all eat tagether again!

Our opinion was that this stuff was pretty good. Almost all meat, ya know? We usually clean the bowls of Fiskies, but we didn't quite with the Natural Choice. But we sure did eat it. And not mixed wif our usual stuff. Just straight from the can.

We could get used ta Natural Choice...

Addiction Canned Food 2

THE BIG THING: This morning, I tried mixing 25% of the Venison flavor with one of the standards. LC and Ayla ate a small amount and Iza ate a 1/2 bowl, though she kept walking away and returning to it. It was clear she was hungry, but didn't like the Addiction Venison added to the regular food. She made covering pawings at the bowl. I relented and gave them some regular unmixed Friskies. They ate it all.

Tonight, I tried the "King Salmon&Potatoes" flavor on the cats. None of them would eat the least bit of it.

Again, I tried adding a 25% to their regular stuff. No go! Not even a few licks. That surprised me, I figured salmon would be a hit. After a half hour of begging from them, I rinsed out the bowls and gave them pure "regular". Friskies Turkey and Giblets this time... They licked the bowls clean.

It might be the strange vegetables mixed with the meat. What cat wants to eat apples or potato?

Two flavors down, two to go. I think I will wait a few days to try the others... I still have 1 of each Addiction flavor and I have an idea. I will buy individual cans of other "primo" (expensive) brands and see if they fare any better with the cats. And I will use a standard chicken flavor of Friskies to mix it with each time.

Well, maybe they are all just addicted to Friskies... ;) At least that would be a control factor to the experiment.

But so far, the Addiction canned foods are not popular here.

Addiction Canned Food

THE BIG THING: Well, I finally opened one of the canned Addiction foods. This one was "Venison with Apples". Keep in mind that LC is a picky eater in her old age, Ayla is a pretty enthusiatic eater, and Iza will eat ANYTHING (and all that is available).

LC sniffed it and walked away.

Ayla tasted it and walked away.

Iza sniffed it, nibbled some, and walked away. But she was hungry (perpetually) so she came back. She took another nibble and walked away again. I tried to encourage her to eat it, but she wouldn't.

I finally opened a can of some regular stuff that isn't their favorite and they all chowed down on it.

The Addiction Venison is a "paws down" by all of them. And quite frankly, if Iza won't eat it, it can't be much good.

Tomorrow, the "King Salmon&Potatoes" flavor...

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

OH WOW! MORE ADDICTION FOOD.

IZA: I have surely been blessed by Bast! Food fell onto our doorstep yesterday... The doorbell rang while we were all asleepin on The Big Thing. When he (finally) got up ta see what it was, there was this box what magically appeared. He opened it today. IT WAS FOOD! FOR US!

It camed from the Addiction Food people, he said. He said he had asked them about the Stinkey Goodness and they sent some! Ayla and I are still gonna thank Bast though (just to be careful).

We got Stinky Goodness in flavors of Vishus Deer, Eels, Brushtail ("Possum"), and Salmons!

(You can biggify these pictures)

And there was more dry crunchies too!

So, The Big Thing says he is gonna try a new 2 rounds on taste tests. But he is gonna get a few cans of other primo Stinky Goodness (like Evo) to compare it to. We got the Authority an Hills Science Diet for testing the dry stuff. He already decided not ta buy anymore Meow Mix cause it has lots of cereals in it... So it is a question of which stuff that is good fer us AND we like that will matter.

So, when TBT figures out the taste test pattern an gets some other primo Stinky Goodness, we will report on the results.

You what's really good about the Addiction cans (even though I haven't gotten ta taste anny yet)? They are larger. MOL! No matter what size cans, it gets divided equally an I get ta eat what is not eaten by Ayla an LC. So larger cans means more fer ME!

Dry Crunchies Taste-Off

LC:

Well, the first test was with all 3 crunchies available all day. In that test,we ate more Addiction dry food cause we liked it best 4 of 6 times. This 2nd test was one type at a time for 3 days each. In the 2nd test, we simply measured how much we ate of each. We were surprised at the results.

Over 3 days each, we ate 5 1/3 ounces of Authority per day. We ate 5 2/3 ounces per day of Meow Mix per day. We ated only 3 ounces on Addiction per day!

Yet when all were offered, we ated more Addiction. We are not sure how to interpret that. Here's a thought. The Addiction food was more meat, so we had to eat less of it. They say that their stuff is more "satisfying" to a cat's need fer meat. We think they are right about that.

And we looked at the ingredients of the dry stuff we been eatin. Here is what we founded out about the 3 main ingredients:

Meow Mix - Chicken By-Product Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, and Ground Yellow Corn. Doesn't seem very carniverous.

Authority - Turkey, turkey meal, Brewers Rice. That doesn't sound too bad. No gluten in the top 3 and meat in the top 2. And we like eating it.

Addiction - Venison meal, Dried potatoes, Chicken Fat. It seems Addiction has a little less meat than Authority. But there is another way to tell.

The Guaranteed Analysis:

It talks of Crude Protein, Crude Fat, and Crude Fiber respectively....

Meow Mix: 31.0%, 11.0%, and 9.0%

Authority: 32%, 15%, 4%

Addiction: 30%, 15%, 1.5%

We don't see much difference. Know what we would like to see? 80% meat and a little catnip and fat. That would suit our insides real good...

We are sad to say that Authority kind of wins here, barely. We were really expecting Addiction ta win, ya know? But it seems more marketing that meat, iffen ya know what we mean.

We note that protein is LOWEST in Addiction and that's what we want the most of! We do appreciate the Addiction is lowest in fiber, but we think protein is best.

The Big Thing is gonna try a real meat diet fer us, based onna recipe from a Vet. So mebbe we won't even be eatin dry stuff ever again. If we like the recipe...

Dry Crunchies Taste-Off

Reported by The Big Thing: Well, here is our 1st report about the great Meow Mix, Authority, and Addiction dry crunchies Taste-Test.

The 1st day, They ate mostly Addiction, the Authority, then Meow Mix. Which is what I would guess based on the meat in the foods.

The 2nd day. The Addiction bowl is almost empty, the Meow Mix bowls half empty, the Authority bowl almost untouched. It seems that variety and familiarity counts for something. They seem to prefer the Addiction crunchies, but also eat some of the Meow Mix and Authority.

The 3rd day. Meow Mix won today. Followed by Authority and Addiction.

The 4th day. Addiction was most popular today. Meow Mix was a definite 2nd and Aurthority in 3rd place.

The 5th day. Addiction came in 1st again. But Authority was the clear 2nd choice with hardly any Meow Mix chosen. There is no real pattern showing up.

The 6th day. Authority was the choice today. Addiction came in 2nd (barely). Meow Mix was not eaten much at all.

I'm not sure what to make of the variation of choice. Addiction was the choice 4 of the 6 days, so it was definitely preferred. But there was one day each where the cats preferred Meow Mix or Authority. The positioning on the bowls does not seem to have any effect. I have frequently seen the cats sniffing at each bowl before eating and none of them seem to have any strong preference. I mean, they choose, but not the same one consistently.

Next week, I will offer only one kind each day and weigh it to see how much is eaten.

After that, I will try each one for a full week and see if it affects their poops. Iza especially has a problem with pudding poops (sorry, but that is a problem she has) and I am looking for a pattern of foods that will help on that.

After the dry crunchies test, I will be experimenting with the canned foods. I have some preliminary data that suggests her problem is simply quantity, but it may be the types of canned foods too. Iza may handle fishy foods well, but not poultry (or vice versa) and I need to figure that out as well.

And beyond their preferences of dry crunchies, health matters as well. It seems to me that Addiction is healthier for them. If they WILL eat it, it seems better for them than Meow Mix and even Authority (the best food I can find in pet stores according to lack of some wheat glutens and stuff at a reasonable price).

Sunday Canned Food Review

AYLA:

Just wanted to say I havent fergot about doin it, but I keep not gettin aroun ta settin up a new judgin system. Its lots more fun ta just run aroun outside and play wif toys inside. An there is this new weerd red-dot that I cant catch aroun the floor. So I am VERY busy, after all...

Skeeter says I wouldnt be a good judge cause I eat ANNYTHIN inna can. I'll show HIM, but I need ta think about it more... I might ask The Big Thing ta help me.

Maybe... Havent decided yet.

New Sunday Cat Food Review

AYLA here:
Skeeter and LC have reviewed efry canned cat food they efer ate. Ive been here fer 8 big moons and dint have any say in it. So they haf agreed (reluctantly) that its MY TURN!

I've talked ta The Big Thing about they way they did it, and he agreed (reluctantly) that there were some "flaws inna system". Fer example, as I so gently pointed out, the "premixed" and "oils" allus balanced out. So I am eliminating those. If the food has oils init, it hasta be mixed an iffen it has no oils, it doesnt.

So I'm gonna go through the whole list "our way". We will all 3 of us judge the food, but on the basics. First, if it is served to us, I will presume it is "healthy" enough (The Big Thing wont even TRY to feed us junk food). And I will be insisting on some of the "really healthy" foods too. I grew up on Evo...

Given all that, I will be judging foods entirely on what we kitties care about; flavor/taste, smell, lapability, and chew-pleasure!

Skeeter and LC will still be part of the measurements, so it will be based on "6 paws" (highest rating). Flavor/taste counts triple, smell double, lapability and chew each once (Skeeter will lap any sauce, so I can't count that too highly).

I need a week to get it all organized (with The Big Thing's help), so my first food review will be next Sun Day. It will be differnt!

The hard part is convincing The Big Thing to go hunt all those flavors again...
