Lumpy Shower Curtan Problem

IZA: I jus "happened" ta wander inta the The Bein litterbox room and there was a lumpy movement at the baftub curtan. I nefer saw a tub curtan what was alive an movin afore, so I attacked it quick!

I was surprised when it attacked back, so I jumped at it whole body... The curtan stopped movin, and that was good. Affer a few minnits, Ayla hopped out from the ofer side and said she had the same battle herself from the inside of the tub. Very weerd.

We are gonna hafta watch that tub curtan VERY carefully fer a while. We dont want it ta attack The Big Thing cause he gets in there sometimes. He doesnt seem ta mind the water attackin him much (ick) but we dont want the curtan doing that too cause it seemed real strong an attacky...

More on the Hummer Throw Chair, and Nappin There

Affer Friday's post, we thought we should also show other combinations of nappin on that great hummerbird throw chair. We all love it an it is about the closest we all get. We were briefly all on it at once, but The Big Thing was too slow wif the camera cause it only lasted a minnit! MOL!

Yes Ayla REALLY is that small... She doesn't eat when she is in heat, which is more often than not. The pics arent faked. Iza is not a year old an is 8 pounds. Ayla is almost 2 years an is only 5.25 pounds.

IZA: An if annyone is thinking "Oh Bast, Iza is a BIG kitty", its OK cause I am an I glory in it. Iffen I can get up ta about 40 pounds, I will rule over The Big Thing and get treats all day and shrimps an ham efry dinner! Bwa-ha-ha...

Hungry Hippo Iza Is Gettin Annoyin

LC: If Iza doesnt stop pushin her fat head inta my foodbowl while I am trying ta enjoy my food slowly, Im gonna eat her ears off!

Im tryin ta be patient wif her, but food is food, ya know? Jus cause I eat slower than she does, doent mean she gets ta eat mine!

An notice that evil eye she gave me in the last picture... I will remember that!

An Afternoon of Sunday Easy Nappin

IZA: I love nappin ALMOS as much as eatin (an THATS sayin a LOT). An there are 2 easy softy chairs in the TV room. The Big Thing sits in one and there is a big throwoever thing with hummerbirds on the other. So when we're nappin but not on The Big Thing's lap or the warmed waterbed, we are all takin turns on the hummerbird throwoever.

I hope that makes sense...

Well, I was nappin on the hummer throw thing an I dint know I rolled around so much while nappin. He took pictures ta prove it an I was surprised ta see it. Im postin the pictures in order of them bein taken. I dint know I moved so much while nappin. TBT says the pictures are about 5 minutes in between...

So that was MY turn on the hummer chair... LC and Ayla can write their own post about their sperience on it later...

Thursday 13 - My Favrit Toys

IZA: LC mentioned the "Thursday 13" thing ta me coupla days ago, so I collected all my toys an she helped me take pictures of them. Well, naturally, I cant be IN the ictures AND take them...

I got SO MANY toys, sometimes it is hard ta decide which ta play wif. When Ayla is feeling normal, she helps (and plays), but lately, I hafta do all the playing myself (The Big Thing does a lot of tossin, but it really takes 2 kitties ta really get things goin)...

1. Soft Mousies (my favrits)

2. Squiggles (nother favrit)

3. Plastic Rings (oh heck, their ALL my favrits)

4. Shrews

5. Fluffies

6. Balls - Some have rattles, some are heavy, and some are light

7. FEVVERS!

8. Fevver-Butt Mousies

9. Red Dot. No picture cause I can't ever find it. It only shows up when The Big Thing is around an he says he has NO IDEA what Im talking about...

10. Cube Tent

Those Silly Meezer Kittens...

LC: Ayla an Iza are SO WEIRD sometimes. They compete about efrything! Who wrassles better, who jumps better, who chases toys faster, who gets more scritches from The Big Thing, who can sleep on him more, who is better at THoE...

I think they would compete at peeing iffen they could figure out how ta measure it!!!

So Ayla got ta go outside a few days ago fer the first time in 2 weeks. Ayla bragged at how much she ran aroun the yard. Iza said that Ayla follered her around fer a while. Well, the truth is they foller each other around a lot. Sometimes it is like they gotta string tied to their collars.

Well, OK, they do separate an run like crazy kittens sometimes, but ya know what I mean. They are a lot closer to each other than they unnerstand... It is cute watchin them from up onna deck or from a safe corner of the yard. They are almost always inna same corner of the yard alla time and mebbe dont even realize it.

When I read what they write, sometimes I laf out loud. But it is nice ta have them around. They are allus active, chasin toys around, an thats fun ta watch since I dont feel like doing it annymore.

I especially love watchin one of them preparin ta pounce the other. One isnt payin attention and the other is watchin around a corner, her tail starts twitchin, and the back legs pump a little just afore the pounce.

Annyway, I hadda a good weekend outside too. I caught a mouse. No big deal, I just ate it an The Big Thing saw me. He dint have the camera with him. Thats OK, its not like it was my first mousie.

My 2nd favrit spot is on the little bridge acrss the creek. Its dry right now. But its a good spot ta sit.

An heres a close up of the nice yelloe flowers that are startin ta bloom:

I also like sittin in the new-cleared back woods. Ya see that BIG chunk of wood behind me? That is just a little leftover SCRAP of tree left behind. Ya shouldda seen all the tree-chunks BEFORE it was cleaned up!

Sad Story Of Smalley of Singapore

We are rewriting a sad story of Smalley, a kitty in Singapore. It seems that Singapore does not want cats kept in public homes, nor do they want cats kept out of homes.

Doesn’t that mean no cats anywhere?

The last time Beins were so stupid to try to eliminate cats from their lives, they suffered the terrible Bubonic Plague. Stupid Beins killed most of the cats, there were no cats to kill the rats that carried the fleas that carried the Plague, and up to a third of all Beins in Europe died as a result.

So Singapore wants to kill all the cats. Those who don’t know history suffer the repetition of it…

So we want to restate the story of Smalley as a warning of how cat-hate starts, knowing that you now know the consequences of that hate…

Our version:

“A borned kitty named Smalley opens her eyes after a few days. She senses love as her mother licks her with a warm wet tongue and cuddles her from the cold and rain. She was the only one of the litter that survived. They live in a natural shelter of a tall wide hedge. It protects them from the hardest rain, but they are never completely dry in those rains.

But they have each other, and that is important. Smalley feels love from the Momma; Momma feels love from Smalley. They are content to survive in the hedge; two against the world.

An old Bein walks past the hedge one day and discovers the Momma and Kitty. He taps his cane as a signal that they come to recognize. He is allowed to scratch them from familiarity and because he gives them foods. The foods are valuable to Momma and Smalley because they have been depending on insects and such.

Momma goes out to hunt for food for Smalley, but one day she does not return. She has been captured as a “pest”. Smalley is starving. She can find no insects to eat in the hedge and she dare not wander out from there.

Two days later, Smalley hears the familiar tap of the Beins cane. She peers out through the hedge. A warm hand reaches in to comfort her, and picks her up. Small foods are offered and gratefully accepted.

Smalley is carried to a wondrous warm and sheltered place with a nice Bein to care for him. It is the best days of her short life and she is so happy, though of course still missin her momma. There is always food, always nice water and always a warm lap. There are even toys… Smalley sleeps deeply for the first time ever and fears not the thunderstorms and cold nights.

The bed is small, but there is room enough for the Bein and Smalley to sleep. It smells a bit, but not so bad as the outside sometimes does. And there are no fears in Smalley’s young life. Life is good…

Then one day, a strange Being comes to the door. He says that all cats are pests and must be removed. He says cats are “not allowed in public housing”. What harm has little Smalley done but sleep quietly and play with the 2 toys the Bein has made of string and paper? She has not made loud sounds or made any messes…

The Nice Being cries, but takes Smalley back outside to the hedge. The Authorities require it. He may not shelter a “pest”.

His tears fall down on Smalley like a shower and he says he will visit every day with food and attention scritches. Smalley cries loudly at bein left alone again in the cold cruel outside. The Nice Bein cries as he walks back to his suddenly empty "public housing".

Smalley spends a terrible few days in the hedge, hiding. She does not know how to catch food, how to shelter from the cold, how to hide from the rain. She is miserable and cries out to her Momma and the Nice Being. The Nice Being does come by every day, but cannot stay long. He leaves food, but it is not enough. The Nice Being doesn’t have much food that a cat can eat that he can leave out that won't attract predators. He feeds food by hand, but dare not leave any behind.

Then one day, the strange Bein finds Smalley in the hedge. He sets up a trap cage. It’s his job, but he also enjoys it. He doesn’t like “pests”.

Smalley senses that the cage is dangerous, but the fishy smell inside draws her inside. She needs food. Then, suddenly, a door closes behind her and she is trapped. All night she stays in the trap crying for someone to let her out. But the Nice Bein doesn’t come until mid day and the strange Bein arrives at dawn. Smalley is taken away with many other little kitties. They all cry for their Mommas, their Beins or even just other friendly kitties.

They have no hope.

The Nice Bein finds Smalley gone, and weeps.

All the kitties like Smalley were taken away and killed. The ones that found Beins in "public housing" in Singapore were forced back outside and then considered “pests” because they didn’t have homes. The ones that didn’t find homes to begin with were just “pests” too.

Smalley is assuredly dead by now… There is also assuredly a Nice Bein that weeps over the forced eviction of Smalley through no fault of either of them.

The original (better-written) story is HERE. I just wanted to put the story into different terms. Maybe a twice-told story has more impact than a once-told story. But mostly because I was so sad that I needed to tell the story a different way to get the pain out of my heart.

There are so many Smalleys in the world… And so many that shouldn't be Smalleys.

Ayla Outside, MY Version...

IZA: I saw what Ayla writed yesserday, and she has a weird version of it. She was a scardey cat when she got let out and stuck close ta me fer a long while.

At first, she wouldnt leave my side. I am comfortable goin out, but she was real nervous. I mean, she jumped at efry blowed leaf and small sound! She followed me efrywhere...

Notice her stayin close ta me! And notice that I am bigger than she is. Ayla is 21 months old an only weighs 5.2 pounds. I am only 11 months an I weigh a whole 8 pounds. The Big Thing says I is gonna be a BIG STRONG Girlkitty...

She even followed close ta me around the woods.

See, she is still stayin close ta me back at the deck...

Finally she got brave enough ta go off on her own. About time. I was beginnin ta think she was my shadow, ya know?

I sniffed around fer mousies. Theyre around, but LC says it is early for them. They come out more in warmer weather, she says. OK, Ill wait. But I want a mousie!!! LC says they taste GREAT...

Still, I did wait around real quiet like. LC says that is good practice. "Sit and watch" is the best way accordin ta LC. And she seems ta know a lot about mousies. In fact, I dint efen realize that playin wif toys is just practice fer catchin mousies. Wow! I love the toys lots, so I wanna catch mousies lots.

I Can Go OUT Again!

AYLA: Yay! Yay! Yay! I am allowed outside again... I thought I was NEFER gonna get out again. I been so hard watchin LC an Iza gettin ta go out past 2 weeks an not being allowed out wif them.

But I stopped yowlin an stuff yesserday, so The Big Thing let me go out today. It was SO nice! I suddenly dint want anny mancats ta come around while I was out. I dont unnerstand this. So I immediately started lookin all round the yard.

I walked all round in the middle of the woods. Its nice an sunny when the trees dont haf anny leafs.

Then I snuck around in the wild area. Thats real cool cause there is stuff ta sneak around and hide behind while lissenen fer mousies. Skeeter taught me that.

I also checked around the main areas of the yard. I like to stand on this path cause it is really warm.

Oh my it is SO NICE ta get outside again! I dint come in fer 2 whole hours, and only then cause I got hungry.

Nice Time Outside

LC: I hadda nice time outside. The sun was bright, the air was warm, and there are pretty little flowers startin ta come up. I know that means long warm weather is comin soon.

I looked at the flowers.

An I looked at the ones that are jus comin up...

An I sat at my usual spot near the little pond.

The Big Thing stayed outside with me fer a hour while I walked around the yard sniffin the place. It is specially important that I spray our yard. Ayla's yowlin attracts mancats an I make sure ta let them know this is OUR yard! They know better than ta come around when I am outside cause I will attack them wif my Tigger bounce an scare them up over the fence! Well, it helps when The Big Thing is out there too.
