Caturday Saturday

LAZ:   Lori and I went fence-walking.  TBT has sometimes seen one or the other of us doing it...

But never both together!

Its the evil skwerls.  They are chasin each other around the trees (trying to make little skwerls) and they are a bit distracted.  We are hoping ta surprize one!

Womancat Wensday

AYLA:  I love to sit up on the top of the fence.  Its narrow, but so am I.  But I was also watching stuff.  What stuff you ask?
This tree...   Its a mulberry tree and lots of fascinating critters love the berries.  Birds, Evil Skwerls, even crows.  One time there was even a groundhog.  Who knew they could climb trees?
You can barely see me way down in the bottom corner...

Freaky Friday In The Firs

OR (Rocky and Bullwinkle style) "THEY MUST BE FALLING FROM THE TREES UNDERFOOT!!!"

In yesserday's episode,  Boris Badenov (Marley) and Natasha Fatale (Iza) had both caught Skwerls, causing no end of confusion as to which one might be Our Hero Rocky.  Fortunately, our dastardly dimwits duo had forgotten that Rocky was A FLYING SKWERL and NON-flying skwerls (having no names) were fair game and no People would pay a ransom!

So with (Boris's) hat in hand, they went looking for a place were Skwerls were caught and dispatched.   And viewers, please note that Boris has not YET caught on to the fact the Rocky is a FLYING Skwerl in spite of the fact that he sees him fly EVERY episode.

The trials and density of evildoers are legendary!  *I* your announcer (ME in THE BIG VOICE) will say that Natasha TRIED to tell him such several times but gave up with her usual *sigh/harramph/grr*.

So on we go with our favorite hapless do-badders lost in the Canadian woodlands...

Meanwhile...

IZA:  OK!  Enough...  TBT got jealous about US catching Evil Skwerls while HE wasnt, so he did.

The usual warning...

.
.
.
.
.
.
Its like they are falling out of the trees on us!

Even HE can catch one.  He needs a cage though.  Well, he hasn't got claws, and it isn't like he can hide behind 12" weeds...

But he did catch one in his own Bein way...

I could actally go talk to the Evil Skwerl.  They don't talk nicely, BTW!

All snarls...
And growls...
It even said bad things about my parents!  I was shocked at its language...
So I got snarkey back at it.  I insulted its taste in acorns!  I told it its children were DUMBER than the acorns!  I said it probably stayed in one tree because it couldnt jump worth a darn!
THAT got it growling fer sure...
It smelled like fleas and ticks too, so I told it I didn't even WANT ta eat it...  And I dint!
But that TBT would be out soon and "take care of it".  That calmed it down.  Stoopid Evil Skwerl doesn't know what "taking care of it" meant...
It isn't bothering us anymore...  And we arent the least bit embarassed about it (Grampa called them "tree rats") and we caught the gene.  "DIE EVIL SKWERLS"...

But wow, those things are suckers fer peanut butter...

TBT here:  I know that a few People and even some of our kitteh-friends like squirrels when they hop around burying nuts or when they chase each other around tree trunks.  But ours here seem rather meaner than average.  They steal every apple from our 2 dwarf trees before they can ripen, they eat our crocus flowers and dig up the bulbs, they rip our tulip flowers apart, and they have even torn young plants right out of our planters on the deck.  I had to build a 20'by20' covered garden enclosure to keep them from vegetable mayhem (well, them and groundhogs).  We do not love them!

However, having celebrated "First Squirrels" for Marley and Iza (and showing here that I can dispatch them too), I will be leaving the subject alone generally (unless Ayla catches HER first one - which is pretty unlikely).

More Evil Skwerl

IZA:  Marley has been walking around all proud of finally catchin a Evil Skwerl.  He walks by and quietly says (I caught one and you didn't). an that started ta get me REALLY annoyed.

So guess what *I* did?  I caught one myself.  After I saw one go toward the birdie feeder, I sat by the Tulip Poplar tree it lives in and waited, and waited and waited.

And FINALLY, it returned to the tree, where I was waiting...  POUNCE!
As usual, this is a warning of dedded prey...
.
.
.
.
.
.
OK, I hope that is far enough down.

I GOT ONE !

I didn't realize it was mostly just patience and positioning.  We are all around it on the deck but *I* caught it and TBT and they all know cuz this time *I* was the only one outside at the time.
I let the others sniff.  Marley was a bit annoyed.
Ayla thanked me fer the sniffs...  She is annoying sometimes, but she is ALWAYS polite.
We had a GRAND time sniffing...
Ayla got a bit ecited and went looking fer one of her own.  It doesn't werk that way, though.  When ya get ONE, ya gotta wait fer a while fer another ta come along.
But ya can only admire a catch fer SO long before TBT comes and removes it.  He says they have fleas.  And we don't eat them anyway.  It is just "pest removal" fer us.  Grampa called them "nasty tree rats" and we sort of agree.
They eat our tulip flowers, fer example...  Dig up crocus bulbs.  We don't love them.  But they are eciting to us.  I played with mine fer an HOUR!
Oh Lovely Evil Skwerl, I love having caught you SO much!  I will remember you forever...

Werdy Wensday

AYLA:  I had a Super-Poof today!  TBT says he thinks it is the poofiest ever.  Not that Im proud about poofing, cuz that allus about something bad, but I guess "the most" of annything is inneresting.
TBT was out on the deck an saw it when it happened AND had the camera in his pocket.   So by the time I ran up onto the deck, he was ready!
Oh, I should mention I got hit by a small branch.  The Evil Skwerls throw that stuff at us sometimes.  They cant break loose anything big enough ta hurt, but it can sure be a SURPRISE!

Garden Tour Thursday On Friday

IZA:

WELL!
Since I dint get ta do the Garden Tour yesserday (tax time fer TBT), Im doing it TODAY instead.  The place is too pretty ta skip...

So please come along an join me.  The weather is GORJUS!

Half of the tulips are blooming like mad.  The snow last week didnt harm them.   These yellow&Red ones are bootiful.
The purple ones are really nice too!
Some are just getting ready ta bloom...
The early daffodils are looking good.
The late ones are just coming up.
These beauties are called "Flair", and they deserve the name.
These are Purple Prince.  And it doesn't get much purplier than those!
These are older ones  that the voles have never found (cuz they are near the house where the moles dont seem ta like ta tunnel).  They are older than *I* am.  And ya may notice that there is NIP growing around them.  Mebbe THAT helps too.  Help yerselfs ta some of the NIP, BTW, we have plenty.
Here is a longer view of the new tulip bed.  Its good ta get the Big Picture sometimes.
There will be Summer flowers planted between the tulips soon.  That will be good fer future tours!

Now lets get up on the deck fer snacks.  We have a surprise this week.  EVIL SKWERL bits!  No, WE didnt catch it (TBT did an we arent asking questions).  And to accompany it, we also have Meowgaritas, Niptinis, and plain cream.  (Creamed skwerl, LOL).

But fer those more traditional, Marley has brought out some fancy chick-hen bits TBT was saving.  "Something fer evrykitty", he says.

Thank you all fer coming along on my Garden Tour!

Skwerlcat Monday

IZA:   Well, Evil Skwerl annyway and ME.  If Marley can take over Sunday, I'll take over his usual Mon Day.

The cage caught a bird a few days ago if you remember.  It got a Evil Skwerl today.  And this time I got to watch it up close!  It was quite ecitin!
Did ya know they "BARK"?  They sound like little yappy dogs!    Who Knew?
And they act like they are BIG ANIMALS!  Not only yellin all that loud, but jumpin at ya too.  Pretty brave fer bein caught...
I walked around the cage to the other side.  Ta get a better look.   I tried to poke a paw in there ta touch it, but the mesh was too small.  TBT said I was lucky I couldnt as they have really sharp teeth an are TOTALLY insane to begin with.

TBT said he would put me inna big box and drop the Evil Skwerl in if I wanted.  I declined.  No reason to torture the Evil Skwerl (*coff, coff*)...
But at least I got some good looks at it REAL close up.  Information is allus good.
But since I couldnt get right at it fairly, I got bored and left.

Easy Like Sunday

AYLA:  We love waitin to go out together on sunny mornings.  I have to say we generally get along pretty well.  When there is some fussing or even hissing, there is usally a decent reason.

However, this is a good picture ta show you all how Im the small fry of the Mews (even though Im the oldest).  Purrsonally, I think it shows my Royal Pedigree Of Delicate Nature.  Im the one in the middle...
Thankfully, the deck door DOES get opened eventually.  Why am I not in this picture (you ask)?  Because Im very agile and can hop over Marley and Iza with ease.
See me out there the farthest?  Annyway, there were some inneresting smells on the deck this morning.  WE know what it was, but we dont tell TBT EVRYTHING, you know?
We all found the spot where "it" sat...
Not saying what "it" was (in case TBT is reading this post).  We like ta keep some secrets from him.  And I want to point out that Iza had to sniff longer ta figure out what it was; shes the 40 watt of the fambly).  Note that I was already tracking it, while Iza was still sniffin the main spot.  Marley was checking back to TBT ta see iffen he knew what it was.  He dint.
So then Marley watched where I was heading to see iffen he could get ahead of me.
OK, OK, iffen ya PROMISE ta not tell TBT...  It was Evil Skwerl Pee.  I could tell by the acorn stink right off.  And the trail ended real fast, which means it jumped off the deck from where I tracked it to the edge.

Iza said she thought it was Vishus deer.  Well, they DO eat acorns too, but they cant get in the yard much less up the stairs to the deck.  Poor Iza...  Sometimes I think her Mama picked her up by the neck too tight a few times when she was a kitten.

But we all had a nice morning outside until TBT called us in cuz he hadda go do some errands...

Freaky Friday

AYLA:  Wow, we looked outside and saw our Evil Skwerl Live Trap all out of place.  It usally looks like THIS...
Its strapped to a board cuz one of them learned it could roll the cage over an get the door-holders loose.

But then it looked like THIS, 10 feet away an all twisted up.  We are PRETTY sure no Eveil Skwerl did that...
TBT says he thinks "something" (like mebbe what made those snowprints from last week) wanted ta get at the peanut butter inside and got real mad when the doors clamped down on its paws...

We are all happy to go inside promptly before twilight now!

Guard Duty Caturday

MARLEY:  Im on Guard Duty today.  Im watchin fer anny of those Evil Skwerls (or anny other pests).

Lookin left...
Lookin straight ahead...
Lookin right!
An since I just came from behind me, I know they're not there...

Evil Skwerl Friday

We are very angry at the Evil Skwerls today!  They tore apart one of our (very few) tulip flowers.
We'll GET them fer THAT!

Happiness With The Old Reader, And Other Stuffs

OK, first, we looked for TBT's "restart button" tonight an we think we found it.  We were feelin around with our claws out around his back and he yelped once, so that was probly it.  Annyway, he has been more normal since then...

He caught a evil skwerl, but can ya beleeve he DIDNT GIVE IT TO US!  He said it probly had fleas.  Welllll, OK, we dont want fleas.  But he could have fleacombed it and THEN given it to us.  He said HE dint want fleas.  Or ticks.  Excuses excuses; perfectly good squirrel gone to waste...  OK, the very rare flea, we unnerstand.  Ticks, though, give us the creepies, so we allowed him to get rid of the tree rat carcass.  We'll keep tryin to catch a live clean one.

But the good noos is that he fussed around with The Old Reader today and got it sort of working like he wanted.  Sigh, he is SO fussy sometimes.  He says the world is run by Beins who don't accept things as they are, or something like that.

But we checked it out earlier tonight.  Its "ok" but lacks features we are used to.  We told TBT to write a better one for us, but he just fell on the floor laffin.  We dint know we made a joke but apparently it was a good one....

Oh, speakin of skwerls, we got good reception on the Skwerl TV channel today.  See?
You WONT beleeve what it was doing today!
It was EATING one of our lily flowers...
Darn, we were told those things were poisonous.  Apparently not to evil skwerls...  Thats not fair!  Well, mebbe it at least gave it a tummyache.  An mebbe then it will fall right out of the tree at our feet like a birdie smashing into the glass doors.

Well, we can DREAM, right?
