Boomies

We heard the boomies last night.  Both kinds!  First, it was thunder from the sky.  We haven't heard that in a while.  Marley goes hiding, and in places we do not know of.  The other 3 of us just settle in the bedroom.  We feel safe enough there.

But we also heard some different noises.  Yeah, its that  time of year again!  Neighbors explode stuff fer fun.  We dislike those more.  They are more sudden and closer.  And they last longer than the sky thunders.

TBT says there will be a lot of the 2nd ones tonite.  We wont see Marley fer hours after that.  Not that we like them either, but we will just stay unner the bed instead of going into deep-hiding.

The Day After

Well, the fireworks werent bad last night.  There were just a lot of faint pops from someplace far away.  Mebbe those loud neighbors left or went on vacation.

But we stayed in the bedroom just in case...

Monday Lockup

MARLEY:  Well, sure enough, we got locked in the bedroom again today from 7:30 - 3:30 when the Noisey Strangers came back.  TBT was trickier this time.  This morning, he simply got up and closed the bedroom door while we were all in the sleepin around him!

And he says it is gonna happen again tomorrow AND Wensday!  We have discussed what we might do about it.  Iza suggested that, as soon as TBT gets out of bed, we all run fer the basement.  He cant find us there.

But Ayla said that meant we would all be in the place the Strangers kept stomping through, and the bedroom really IS safer with the door closed. 

And I pointed out that the bedroom really IS more comfortable.  I mean, we sleep there fer a REASON.  And TBT DID bring us food regularly while we were in there and came and sat with us at times.

So we will probly agree ta stay in there, but real unhappily!

But he OWES us BIG TIME when this is all over!

Freaky Friday

AYLA:  We were all hiding most of the day!  TBT got up early and fed us, and then called us into the bedroom.  Marley and Iza went in, but I got suspicious and ran into the basement.  So TBT closed the bedroom door and tried ta get me ta come ta him.

Good Luck with THAT!  I ran back upstairs, I circled ahead of him through the living room and kitchen, then back downstairs.  After he wandered through the basement, I went back upstairs.

And vanished.  He couldnt find me annywhere, but he figured I must be in either the Mews Room or the Computer room, so he just closed both doors. 

Then some strangers came and started making HORRIBLE banging and cutting noises.    It lasted for 6 HOURS! 

TBT peeked in the closed rooms a few times ta bring food.  Marley was behind the dresser and Iza was just sitting on the bed.  She is stupidly brave sometimes.  He never did find me.

After the strangers left, I just showed up in the Living Room while Iza and Marley came out of the bedroom.

And apparently, we gotta go through this again on Monday when the strangers return for more werk...

Finally, Outside Again

IZA:  Well, we sure were glad ta be let out again yesserday afternoon!  We had been spending the days hiding and the nights stayin closer to TBT than usual.

Marley had a good hidey spot unner the bed.

He would come out briefly when TBT was there but only as far as the door.

I was braver and would frequently sit right at the deck door ta see what little I could.

I dont even KNOW where Ayla spend most of her time!  But when TBT opened the deck door, she and I were right out there ta look around.

Marley was far more cautious...

In fact, when he saw how differnt things were in the side yard (and that the deck door was closed), he was real unhappy.  See how his tail is not only real low, but even twisted?

But he got over it and came out with us to our usual napping places.

Briefly annyway.  He really just wanted ta go back inside.  I admit that I wanted to return inside too...

When Ayla joined us at the door,  TBT relented and let us all in.

We did get extra treats the 3 workdays.  And as a special reward (for our patience) when all was done, we got some minced pieces of raw cow!

STRANGERS!

We have been warned that strangers are coming to our yard today and there is going to be lots of noise.  Apparently, TBT is causing some trees ta come crashing down with the help of big noisy machines and lots of BEINS WE DONT KNOW!

We are choosing our hiding places...  TBT is leaving the bedroom closet door a bit open fer us, and that sounds pretty good.  He has moved some stuff out and set down folded blankets and pillows.  The furthest place from the noise will be in the bedroom and in the computer room.  So he is putting out some boxes in the computer room with towels on the the bottoms in case we decide we prefer that.

We will have water in both rooms and he is bringing up 2 fresh litter boxes from the basement (one in each room and far from the water bowls, of course).  And he promises to make sure we have our favrit foods available even IF we dont feel like eating .

As it happens, there are no windows where we can see all the activity IN CASE we wanted to anyway (which is pretty unlikely - but ya never know about Ayla, she can be oddly brave and curious sometimes).

So we are going to be mostly in hiding all day, though TBT says he may bring the laptop into the bedroom so we can visit our friends iffen we want to.  We are behind a couple days of that, so we might, but don't count on it.  Hiding is probably the rule for the day...

Mancat Monday

More Noise And STILL No OUT!

IZA:  The actual deck BUILDER GUYS came yesserday morning.  They made more noise than the tearing-down guys did last Friday and the hole-digging guys on Monday!  Lots of banging, an that getd into the house more than machines outside do.

I was BRAVE.  I watched what they were doing most of the time.  Ayla stayed in the bedroom an Marley hid in the basement.  This one is from outside.

This a better picture from inside.  An ya can see that they have put up the um, um [beams, joists, and endcaps, Iza], yeah, "those".

An ta make a long story short, this is the finished deck!  It looks bigger than the old upper one an there isnt a lower one annymore.

But we havent got to go out on it yet.  The guys just finished as the rain started an they were all runnin around gettin their equipment back safe in their trucks.  An it was gettin near dark annyway, so we can't go sniff around and figure out the new paths down ta the lawn until tomorrow.

More Noise And No OUT

MARLEY:  The STRANGERS were back yesserday and today!  So we are stuck inside.  At least we dint haveta be closed up in the bedroom cuz noone was comin inside anny.

These are my special Mournful Bi-Color Lasers...

First, some guy came an painted big red Xs on our back yard and patio!

Then some other guys came and made holes where the red Xs were.  It took them all afternoon and most of this morning.    The holes are 2 feet wide an 2 feet deep.  They had noisey machines, but they had ta do most of the work with hand tools.  They said they never saw dirt so hard before.  Serves them right fer making us stay inside an bothering us with all the noise!

Look, they even cut through our cement patio!

They are gone fer the day, but TBT says we still have ta stay inside a while.  He has ta go do some errands while there is no one here fer him ta watch over.  But he says we can go out later today when he gets home.

UTB AGAIN?

(Ayla):  Quiet!  Its 7:40 am, and TBT says we gotta go in the bedroom AGAIN today soon.  So we are gettin this message out fast.  

Dont EVER let yer Beins "Fix Up" the house.  Bite their ankles!  Poop in the shoes!  Threaten ANNYTHING.  Don't let them doit.  Its horrible...  Oh the NOISE!

Oh no, the strange car is coming up the driveway.  We hiss, but it doesnt matter...  We are like insects to the Siders.  TBT is coming to put us in the "safe" room, but they will be outside tirelessly trying to hammer their way in soon! He says he will be outside fighting them off as best he can, but we may be left alone soon iffen he fails...

More Noise!

By the time ya all read this, we will be UTB, locked in the bedroom! 

See, last night, TBT casually mentions "Oh BTW guys, the siding and gutter repair folks will be here the next 2 days. bright and early both days, and probably ALL day".  

ACK!  We all went into a proper tailspin.  "We'll need food".  "We'll need water"  "We'll need a litterbox".  "We'll need toys".  "We'll need a cat tree".

Apparently, we wont be getting a cat tree moved into the bedroom.  Nor will TBT move the computer into the bedroom...

We got a post scheduled fer tomorrow, but we wont be doing anny visitin until the weekend at least.

Noisy Morning!

What an AWFUL morning we had!  The noise from the roof werk was WORSE than TBT said it would be.  He apologized, explaining that he had heard the noise from other houses on the outside, but dint realize how much LOUDER it was when inside the house.

We spent some time at Alfie's party (which was great BTW), but when we got back, the noise was still goin on.  So we took the Katnip Lounge cats' offer to visit them.  That was a real nice visit!  The Catio is more impressive than pictures show.

But we came back and the noise was STILL goin on, so we stayed in the basement until it was all over.

Thankfully, it will be over a week before the other guys come over to change the siding and rain-catchy-things.  We NEED that long to recover.  And to guilt TBT into giving us more treats than usual...

Cabinet Introoder

We both came runnin over to the cabinet door cauz we heard noises from inside!  Marley pulled at it ta try to open it, but Iza's the only one who goid at that

Unfortunately, she wasnt around.  Off sleepin in the bedroom no doubt...

So we discussed what it might be inside.  Big mouse?  Weasel?

Aww, it was Iza!  She had got up and got in the cabinet when we werent lookin...  She was insufferably pleased with her little joke on us.

WE were so annoyed, we dint even get a picture took.

Freaky Friday

AYLA:  My cloth-filled box grew paper!  Im not sure I like that.

Its neat cuz it makes crinkly noises when I move around in it.

But its no good fer hidin in or pouncin from cuz of the noise.  I may hafta try pullin it all out...

On Guard!

AYLA: There haf been too many nappin pictures lately, so I wanna show ya all that I do move around. 

Im just bein watchful right now.  There been some weerd noises around here lately!  And I dont mean Iza or The Big Thing.  I gotta be ready ta spring at what ever it is iffen I see it...  There might even be a skwerrel in the house...

[IZA:  I suspect it was the ping pong ball I batted down the stairs, an The Big Thing tosses some around at random, but dont tell her.  Its fun when shes nervous and alert.]

Strange Loud Beins inna House!

We havent mentioned this cause we were waitain fer all the strangers and yellin ta be done. Itsa been horrible.

We have hadda all be locked in bedrooms while the noisy strangers came in. All cause doors hadda be left open an all, and some lead ta the front yard where we cant go.

Ya see, it seems the heating an cooling thingy went bad in July. It got taken away ta be killed an a new one was put in. But when The Big Thing turned on the heat, weerd stuff happened. So the heaty/cooly beins been tryin ta fix it all week. They came Tuesday an they couldnt fix it though they thought they did.

They came Wedsday an they couldnt fix it and knew they dint!

They came Thursday wif a new bein what had fixed problems like this. That werked, mebbe. We'll see. The new thermstat glows blue instead of green. Mebbe that was the problem. The hallway walls is green anwe bet that makes a difference!

The Big Thing isnt sure it is all fixed, so we will see over a few days. But he an we are darn tired of hafin strangers in the house trying ta fix the same problem over an over while we are locked inna room fer hours. If it isnt fixed this time, TBT says we will be let loose ta bite the ankles of the strangers! Cool!

Noisey Noises all Evening!

AYLA: It was terrible noisey last night! Oh we hate that. Happens every year at the the start of the hot times! Big Bangs an POPS and Sizzle noises an stuff. We all go run unner the beds an hide. We discuss the cause sometimes. LC thinks the Beins are shooting the food what goes inta the cans for us ta eat. Skeeter used ta think Beins were celebratin his birfday, but she dint think so cause they dint celebrate her birfday that way. Well, shes been around a long time an been watchin Beins a lot, so shes probly right. She does know stuff!

But she hides, so we do too. Experience is important!

The Big Thing sat next ta the bed wif us in the noisiest time and said it was "OK", that he wouldn't let us be hurt. That was good. After it stopped, he crawled unner the blankies and we eventually all came out an curled up around him. We slept good.

LC: Plus, we kept Skeeter in our thoughts all day yesserday, cause it would have been his birfday... In honor of that, The Big Thing was cookin chickens and he kept one piece free of weerd flavors just for us. It was very good! Iza nefer met Skeeter, so I told her what a good brother he allus was ta me and of some of the adventures we had. She liked that and said it would be nice ta haf a brother...
