Thankful Thursday

Today we are thankful fer the scratching posts around out cat trees and platforms!  As you can see, we like ta use them a lot.  TBT says "better them than him".

This one is from the old platform stand he made hisself.  So. being the oldest one, it has gotten the most use.  Hardly anything to claw on there.

This is from the older of the 2 bought cat trees.  It is rather poofed and used up.  

Another bottom post is getting worn out...

We are working on a higher one now, but it takes a bit more effort to get at.

So, TBT bought a BIG roll of 3/8th" sisal rope and plans to renew them...  The top pic has sisal rope on a board TBT screwed onto the post.   He says he will take the board off and just wrap sisal around the post.  In the 2nd pic, he will remove the post and wrap in all new.  He thinks the posts in the 3rd and 4th pics can be "shaved" with scissors.  

So we are thankful for the pleasure the old ones gave us, but we cant wait to get at the new stuff!

 

4,000 Posts!

It happened last weekend and we missed it!  But better late than never.

Ham, bacon, and treats all around to all!

But Iza turns 10 tomorrow and we will party big-time then!  Double Double-big big celebration fer sure!

I would never have imagined that possible when we started on the day I hesitantly clicked on the "start blog" button in 2006 with Skeeter and LC not understanding the glass deck doors or the fence or doors.  It has been such a wonderful journey ever since then (missing Skeeter and LC, but gaining Ayla, Iza, and Marley)

Life goes on.

3,500th Post Party

Really, come one, come all.  We want to celebrate this.  We mean, it takes about a year and a half of daily posts to get a 500 so the 4000th is about February 2018 if we keep it up.  And who wants ta wait that long for that fer another round sort of number?

Aside from the usual entertainment of toy mousies,  rolley balls, and wands of magic, The Big Thing will walk among us juggling golf balls in the air, bouncing them off the cement basement floor in a juggling manner to the tunes of our favorite cat food commercials, and even OFF THE WALLS, while also tossing tasty kibbles and treats around for everycat to catch between juggling changes AND while wearing his Hobbit feet slippers and (this is still under negotiation) his craziest clothes later in the afternoon.  We tried ta convince him ta hold a sparkler between his teeth, but he wouldn't go fer THAT.  He said we were pushing it...  Can't win them all.

Still it will be a sight not to be missed.  The party will last all day, so don't be elsewhere.  Kitties who are not here THIS day will feel deprived their whole lives.

There will be Fresh Nip, Niptinis, Nip Smoothies, and Nip Cream.  There will be foods.  

Come early, come often, but DONT not come.  We wont have a 3,500th again...

UPDATE:  Well, apparently juggling is NOT like riding a bicycle.  Beins DO forget.  He blames "flawed golf balls", but WE can tell he has lost the art.

The balls were just all over the house.  Which was good fer chasing, but he can't juggle them without a week of practice.  Granted, he was getting much better real fast, but not in time fer the photos...Well, ya snooze, ya lose... 

He DID manage the crazy clothes and the hat trick, and we all got a laff from THAT!

 That hat trick IS pretty good though...

We gotta feel sorry fer him though.  Those feets will never get better...

 

The Mystery Celebration Is...

AYLA:  It began on a quiet day in August 2006 (so Im told).  Skeeter and LC and TBT were reading the blog of Max The Psychokitty, as usual, over the past couple years.  Clicking around links there (and we dont know where ezactly), they found a button on a blog that said "FREE BLOG".  They considered it.  A lot.  Buttons can be dangerous.  They clicked the button...

And wonderment happened! A BLOG! 

It was confoosin at first.  Skeeter told me about it when I arrived an first learned to speak.  They couldn't figure out how to post at all, but managed it after some tries.  THEN couldn't get annyone to notice them.  And THEN couldnt figure out fancy stuff like posting pictures.  But The Meezers visited, then a few other cats, and Skeeter and LC figured out how to write in Bein werds a bit (it was hard at first).

They got a bit better at werds, an finally figured out pictures a little.  After a few months, they were right darn pleased with themselfs!

But Skeeter and LC were both 14 and 13 when they started, and learning new stuff when yer older is tricky.  They struggled and messed up, but allus did their best.

It was just in time fer Skeeter.  Only a year an a half later, he kinna "lost" it.  An 6 months after that he hadda go to the Bridge.  LC followed him in January 2010.

Im saying all this cuz I was there in Jan 2008 and knew Skeeter and LC both.  Skeeter was failing but still kind an protective to me just as he allus was to LC.  He was ONE great brofur!!!
Im the cat-memory around here...  Iza came along before LC left us if memory serves, and Marley 2 years later.  Skeeter and LC were, well, "Skeeter and LC".  We here now are "The Mews".  TBT renamed our blog because he (sadly) realized the blog might outlast some of us.  I helped TBT decide on THAT name and am quite proud of myself for it.  Cuz I "mew" a lot to him.

And "Mews" also means a place where animals live with humans, the noise we cats make, and a "hide-away secret place". 

So Ive been here 7 years, Iza 6, and Marley 4.  What a long strange trip we each had getting here.  I arrived as a failed Queen from a breeder cuz I was too small, Iza from the same place because her colors were wrong (well, she WAS a Tonkie), and Marley went from a shelter, to a Bein who was allergic to cats, to here.  We dont blame no Beins cuz they were all right fer their reasons.

But it was all fer the best cuz we are all of us in the RIGHT place now.  Ya cant ask fer more than that!  None of us want ta be ANNYWHERE else.  Ya unnerstand that, right?

So we have been teachin TBT ("The Big Thing", fer any of you readin this that dont know) how to care fer our every needs properly.  Fer a Bein, hes a bit quicker on the uptake than some.  I assume Skeeter and LC (and The Cats Who Came Before) had a lot ta to with that.  Purrsonally, I think we are lucky coming along in the later years after he was "reasonably" well-trained.  More to do of course, but at least not the basics.

So NOW we celebrate...

An we are gonna celebrate it WELL!  There is gonna be a BIG PAWTY!  We spent yesserday night in preperation getting ourselfs ready.

An we were all a flutter!  We hate ta admit it, but TBT had ta finally get us firmly in paw hand an help us get organized.  He IS good at helpin us.

We have great foods and drinks and games, but that aint all, y'all!  We got some fancy foods and drinks and games!

We have a BIRDIE stuffed inna a CHICKIE, stuffed inna a DUCK, stuffed inna TURKEY!  We wanned TBT ta do beasts, but TBT said no way was he gonna try everythin from mousies ta elephants.  An the elephant-delivery guy was off on vacation annyway.  So its birdies of various sorts.

The drinks are over-the-top too (over the top of what, we arent sure but it CANT be over the top of the glasses annyway).  We got Meowgaritanips, Nipmeowgaritas, Creme de la Meowgaritanips, and probly some creme de la Nipmeogaritas somewhere.  Bet there are some Ice Cream Nips too.

Had a SalmonTurkey Whip?  No?  Try it, youll like it.

The TV has the Catsitter DVDs going, the radio out back has a CD with birdsongs (cuz we are pretty sure the reglar birdies will take the day off with ALL us cats around), an we have Evil Skwerl tails in the basement ta sniff and whap.

So from Skeeter and LC getting to 500 posts or so, we have carried it on proudly.  But humbly too.

We have loved doing every post.  From Easy Like Sunday, Mancat Monday, Tummy Tuesday, Werdless Wensday, Garden Tour Thursday, Freaky Friday, Caturday Saturday, and all the occasional themes in between, it has been the pleasure of our times to have friends who cared to share our daily lives.  For ourselfs, for Skeeter and LC, and for all the cats-who-came-before there was a blog...

Now let the pawty BEGIN!

The games THIS TIME arent the usual ones.  There is the shrimp quest (barely cooked shrimps hidden around the house), the 150' outdoors run (from the deck to the fence and back), the deck rail jump, the outdoor ladder climb (a real ladder to the roof, BTW), the fishie tank pawing (TBT got a dozen small goldfish just for today),  the mousies in the baftub event (we've saved some just fer this), and the "up the wall event" (TBT hung a 12' carpet runner up the stair wall fer climbing).

So get into yer tunnels or whatevers and come join us!

And yeah, there are bags, boxes, and Esses...

Planning A Party!

We have been watching our blog stats and we are closing in on our 2,500th post!  We are 7 posts away (not counting this one)...

Since we usually post each day, that would make the milestone post on Sunday November 24th.  TBT says we can have a party and a give-away or two!  In fact, TBT says he will make sure we hit the 2,500th post even iffen he has to cheat a bit (not that we expect he will have to).

We will have all the good foods, boxes and bags, toys, and games.  And TBT says he will set up a ladder in the living room as something differnt!

We are all ecited about this.  An TBT says that when the cats-who-came-before (Skeeter and LC) started blogging, he couldn't imagine what they could say in 100 posts never mind 500.  Parts of the celebration day post will be "the early days", but most will be just having a happy time with all of our friends visiting to enjoy the day with us.

2,000th Post Party

Here we are, at our 2,000th post! We can HARDLY believe it.

 Its 12:21 AM OUR time, so we are gonna start the party.

Well, like we said Wensday, we didnt start the blog, an fer all we know, we may not finish it either.  But TBT said 2,000 was worth a party, and we are happy about THAT!  An we passed 100,000 visitors a couple months ago, so thats neat too.

So we've arranged fer the best food TBT would spring for, and all that games we could manage...

To start, we have dry treats while evryone gets to talk ta each other.  Crunchies are a good start.  The party games will start in about an hour (dependin on how many friends show up this early).

But there are TP rolls for impatient players.  They are the tricky ones on backwards, though.  MOL!

UPDATE 3 AM...  

Wow, so many kittehs visitin SO early!  We are amazed…  Fortunately TBT is up late and is prepared ta stay up ALL day.  We (and he) slept early last night, so we are ready fer our big day ALL day!

The first ham came out…  TBT cut it up on the table (and we were all told (an agreed) ta not jump up while he was doing that.   Flying knives and kitty tails do NOT get along).  But when the chunks hit the bowls, all "Ell" broke loose.

(And King Spitty and Iza are sneakin around together)...

Update 4:30 AM - Oh the Box-jumping games have begun!  The boxes are started at 2 feet apart and TBT slowly moves them farther away.  Iza got disqualified at once.  She couldn’t do even the 2 foot jump (along with 3 others).  Most got to 4 feet away.  The winners got to 5 feet.

Spitty is GOOD at this.  But some Forty Paws Kities did better.  We have to go find out their names.  But they keep running after the rattley mousies now.

6:00 AM Update:  Well, we are going nappies, but we sure hope our friends stay playin.  It wont keep us awake.  And all are welcome ta pile around TBT in the big waterbed.  He'll like that and so will you.  Lotsa scritchies!

7:00 AM UPDATE:  OK, we are up again.  TBT says it is time fer a chicken!  YAY!!!  Lets eat!  But dont try ta get the bones, he takes them away...

Pee Ess - Has anyone seen King Spitty and Iza lately?  They are sposed to be helpin us clean up as the party goes along.  ~  Ayla and Marley 


8:30 AM Update:  Hannah and Lucy, Brian, Old Kitty, and Katie are IN THE HOUSE,  Time for THoE!  Line up at the kitchen door...

Time fer a Cat Tree and bag contest!   You climb the cat tree and jump into anny bag on the floor.  There are several... Style and accuracy counts.  Iza will judge.  Hey where IS IZA?  Never mind, Marley will judge, then.!

10:30 AM Update:  Yay, The "Abby cats are here.  Boo, Abby, Ping, Gracie, and um, what was that blur that just went by?  Looks like another TP roll will meet the floor...

And its BOX time again.  THIS time, we will all get up on the empty books shelves and see how many boxes  we can jump into while keeping our heads above the boxtops!!!  Iza will judge,  Oh is she STILL gone?  OK I Ayla will judge,..

 Hey, The Florida Furkids and Lexi, and Samantha, Clemmie and Maverick are jest arrived! 

Good timing all.  We think TBT is bringing out another ham soon..  

Doggie bafroom is right ouside on the groundhoggie burrow, heh, heh, heh.  Feel free to go...  And the fence is secure, you wont get out away.  An BTW, any kitties who want to "do it" outside, yer welcome to.  The backyard is full of fallen leafs so there is THE BEST cover-up material outside an its OK..  Fr you shyer ones, there are four litterboxes in the basement an TBT keeps them CLEAN.


There is a clowder of cats here, so me hope me haven't missed anyone.  But we ARE fergetful of names sometimes.  If yer here, we DO notice...

Oh wow, the whole Marg cat crew are here!  Make room. make room...  Hi y'all, the Nip's in the TV room, and the treats are in the computer room.  Ands find a bag ya like...

5 PM UPDATE:   Oh WOW, evrycats are here!  All our friends and some new ones too!
 

Turbotrak time.  It was put away when Grampa came, but TBT has put it out again.  There are TWO balls ta bat around.  And fer those crowded out, there are ping-pong balls all around the floors ta bat!

Ham Chunks the Fourth is brought out!  This time, TBT is just putting it on a tablecloth on the FLOOR, so tear into it.  Floor level ham, WooHOO!  Try not ta shred the…  Oh Bast, too late…  Never mind.

Hey, Max is here, Eric and Flynn  are here, time ta break out the shrimps!   Hey Max, didya see that TBT cooked the shrimps in HAM JUICE? 

Meanwhile, lets get a good game of THoE going.  CLEAR THE HALLWAY!  We'll have 3 runs an the winners will meet later for the final thunder!

11:30 PM UPDATE.  Oh wow, more friends droppin in, The Island Casts, Derby and Ducky, Leo and Star!  Time fer more bag games!!!  And more SHRIMPS!!!   Strangely, there are some kittens asleep UTB.  We're not sure where they came fro,  But everyone is bein nice ta them (lickin and settling down fer nappies).

2,000th Post Coming Soon!!!

Wow, we never thought we would get there!  We've been watchin the count creep up slowly fer months and the day is comin soon.

Caturday July 21st will be our 2,000 post.  We had our 100,000 visitor a coupla months ago, too, but that kinna slipped by usunnoticed.

Skeeter and LC started this in August 2006.  That was before anny of US were even borned!  Well, TBT was, but you know what we mean...

So TBT decided we should have a big party fer both events!  YAY!!!
