South African Rock 'n Roll - The Formative Years (50’s/60’s)
Da compilação destacamos grupos/artistas como, John Kongos, Mickie Most, Dickie Loader and the Blue Jeans, Al Bentley, The Silhouettes, The Giants, Benoni Rocket , The Diamonds, entre outros.
"South African Rock 'n Roll - The Formative Years" is an imaginary compilation project, based on an idea by Marq Vas, which collects songs (some very rare) mostly recorded on vinyl from the late 50’s and early 60’s, in South Africa, that is, the beginnings of rock in that country.
Many of the themes were taken from vinyl records and mastered by Carlos Santos.
From the initial alignment idealized by Marq Vas, it was not possible to obtain all the tracks. However, these songs were replaced by others also interesting and of the same time. In the compilation we highlight groups/artists such as John Kongos, Mickie Most, Dickie Loader and the Blue Jeans, Al Bentley, The Silhouettes, The Giants, Benoni Rocket, The Diamonds, among others.
From the alignment suggested by Marq Vas, we replaced some very rare subjects, that we did not have the possibility to obtain them and we added some more tracks, making 30 titles. We may consider this compilation to be an important piece of the history of rock pioneers in South Africa.
