The Finders Keepers - The Beat Sound Of (1967 South Africa)

The Finders Keepers - Stained Glass Sun (The Beat Sound Of - 1967)
South african psych/garage band from Johannesburg/South Africa.

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue - applies to this record by The Finders Keepers, except that the "something blue" are mostly new compositions by various members of the group. Vocal is by John Allison, who comes from England, and we are wondering whether we detect something of Tommy Steele's influence in some of the numbers? Chris Anderson sings "Man of the Sea" and "Orient Green". The Finders Keepers perform in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg and are tremendously popular wherever they appear.
This album was produced by Pierre and Dries Lombard. This is a good period pop album with lots of fuzz guitar and swirling keyboards. The material is a mixture of cover versions including Donovan's Catch The Wind and Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band's I'm The Urban Spaceman as well as some decent original compositions.(VJ/TL)

Partially transcribed notes from a text in Fainrly Blowing.
