The Panthers (Compilation of tracks 1964-1966. ), were one of several Swedish groups in the mid-'60s who recorded fairly often without establishing much of a personality. Merseybeat, R&B, folk music, bad pop ballads, Ventures/Shadows-like instrumentals -- all were fair game. They did write much of their own material, and released at least half a dozen singles in the mid-'60s. But they're not worth paying attention to unless you've got a yen for documenting generic Continental rock of the era.
Mostly own songs, but also covers of "Baby", "I just wanna make love to you" and well as Beatles cover "I wanna be your man".

The range of quality on their 45s was wide: they could toss off a good beat-punk original one minute ("I'll Be Pleased," their best cut), or fair folk-rock (a cover of Peter, Paul & Mary's "Very Last Day"), and offer limp covers of pop tunes like "Just Walkin in the Rain" and "Halfway to Paradise" the next. The radio/live stuff is rawer and perhaps more characteristic of the band, yet still nothing to set your heart racing, even when judged against the best Swedish bands of the time.
