Cuz Being Batman Is Cheaper

Some folks will go to any length to save a buck … or a few bucks.

Case in point: one Adam Armstrong of Manchester England.

Armstrong says his girlfriend’s stepdad accidentally booked him as “Adam West” when buying his ticket on Ryanair because “Adam West” is what Adam Armstrong calls himself on Facebook because Batman because dumb.

But, since the name on the ticket has to match the name on the passport, Adam couldn’t use the ticket, and so he called Ryanair to change the name on the ticket from “Adam West” to “Adam Armstrong.” And Ryanair agreed to change the name on Adam’s ticket, but for a fee, of course, because airlines because corporate greed because money.

The fee was £220, or about $336 American and Adam Armstrong thought this was exorbitant so … Adam Armstrong found out that it would be cheaper to legally change his name to Adam West ... it's free ... and then he would have to pay just £103 or $157 American for a new Adam West passport.

And that’s what he did cuz being Batman is cheaper.

Boy, talk about your bad party planning.

A judge has ordered Judson Phillips, the founder of the Tea Party Nation, to pay $784,000 to a Las Vegas hotel for rooms he booked but never used.

See, Phillips was gonna have a Tea Party at the Venetian Las Vegas Casino Resort and booked some 1,600 rooms for the event. But, sadly, or actually laughably, Phillips had to cancel his event at the last minute because, yeah, um, no one really wanted to come.

And now a judge has ruled that Phillips owes the resort $748,000, including the $554,000 hotel bill and $194,300 in accrued interest.

Ouch.

Sadly, and, again, actually laughably, this isn’t the first time a Republican group has found itself in a bind over an unpaid hotel bill. In February, the Charleston Place Hotel sued a South Carolina—oh dear, right here in my own backyard—political consultant and the Southern Republican Leadership Conference for an unpaid bill. The SLRC,in typical GOP style, said the hotel was attempting to double-bill a number of guests.

What’s the issue? Republicans can’t get their act together and plan a convention, or they just have a problem paying the bills?
