Minute Rant: Shannon Grove Showed Off Her Crazy

Shannon Grove is a California Assemblywoman, and a Republican, and a Bible-thumping loon who is so crazy that even the wacknuts she supports are trying to distance themselves from her.

She’s Pro-life, as is her choice, and she’s also certifiably insane, as maybe isn’t her choice, but the other day, while speaking to her anti-abortion base she said this:
"Texas was in a long period of drought until Governor Perry signed the fetal pain bill. It rained that night. Now God has His hold on California."
Yes, she is blaming the horrendous drought that California is suffering on abortion because, God, drought, fetus. Ad when her insanity went viral, as happens when elected officials reveal their crazy, she tried to fix it by saying:
"I believe - and most Americans believe - that God’s hand is in the affairs of man, and certainly was in the formation of this country. The Founders put God in the center of this nation by recognizing Him as a giver of our rights. Is this drought caused by God? Nobody knows. But biblical history shows a consequence to man’s actions; we do know for sure that California’s water shortage crisis has been compounded by liberal politicians’ poor decisions -  not properly managing our water resources and refusing to build water storage for decades."
So, wait … is it God … or the Democrats?

And the best part of Grove’s lunacy, other than the sheer joy of seeing a so-called educated person act the fool  is that the head of Pro-Life Kern County—much of which is in Grove’s district—said this:
"You can be proudly pro-life and not be a national joke. But comments like this make you a joke and undermine her position on abortion."
Look, let me make this queer: when your own wingnut supporters tell you that you’re gone too far, and that you’re a lunatic, maybe it’s time to check into a rubber room.

Wal-Mart Profits Off California's Thirst

I grew up in California, very near Folsom Lake — that’s it up there, with diminishing water levels due to drought — and we’d spend our Summers there, boating, swimming, sunning, drinking, getting into trouble. And I can remember the water levels at the lake sometimes being very low and complaining about the trek across the beach, then the dirt to reach the shoreline as it drifted further and further away.

First world problems, I know, but for me back then,it was just kids having fun and having our good times ruined. But it isn’t fun out there now, with water levels at the lowest they have ever been and much of California on water restrictions, which is why this story infuriates me …

Wal-Mart is bottling Sacramento water to sell in their stores; water from the very area, farmland, the Central Valley of California, that has been hard hit by the drought. Wal-Mart is making a profit off Sacramento water.

And it works like this:

Sacramento sells water to a bottler, DS Services of America, at 99 cents for every 748 gallons — the same rate as other commercial and residential customers — and that water is then bottled and sold at Wal-Mart for 88 cents per gallon, meaning that $1 of water from Sacramento turns into $658.24 for Wal-Mart and DS Services.

Water California seriously needs, but Wal-Mart makes a ginormous profit from; and this comes on the heels of an announcement last month that the city is asking residents to cut water consumption by a whopping 36%.

You cannot water your gardens; you cannot wash your car; you cannot, and yeah, it’s another first world problem, fill up your pool. But Wal-Mart can make a killing while Californians, and their lands, go thirsty.

If you needed another reason to lathe the Wal-Mart Corporate Greed Machine — and I don’t — then this surely must be it.
