I Didn't Say It ....
Scott Pruitt, Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] Administrator, on whether or not carbon dioxide is a primary contributor to climate change:
"I think that measuring with precision human activity on the climate is something very challenging to do and there's tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact, so no, I would not agree that it's a primary contributor to the global warming that we see."
I mean, we’ve been hearing for decades about pollution, ozone layers, global warming, automobile emissions, factory emissions, and this tool is in denial because, to be enlightened would mean his and _____’s buddies would make a few less coins doing their business.

Brian Schatz, Democratic Senator from Hawaii, responding to Pruitt:
"Anyone who denies over a century's worth of established science and basic facts is unqualified to be the administrator of the EPA. Now more than ever, the Senate needs to stand up to Scott Pruitt and his dangerous views."
No amount of corporate wealth will save the planet when asshats like Pruitt are in charge.
Resist.

Charlie Hunnam, on what he does to keep his body in shape for his movies:
“I’m interested in having a high fitness level across the board. Running, swimming, jumping rope, hiking, jiu-jitsu—I try to do it all. I also try to make love as often as I can. That’s an important part of fitness.”
If I can ever be of service, Charlie, call me. I’d enjoy the workout myself.
Just sayin’.

Van Jones, news commentator, on _____ driving liberals insane:
“I mean that there are two ways that Trump can be normalized. One is for us just to get used to him saying crazy things, lying, and attacking people, and that’s a big danger. There’s a more insidious danger, which is a danger of his becoming normalized at an emotional and social level. He is completely fear driven, he is completely polarizing, he is completely caught up in his own drama, and I’m starting to see liberals act the same way. We’re almost trying to fight polarization with polarization at this point, and I’m afraid that we’re feeding what we’re fighting. .... There’s always a danger that you become the thing that you’re fighting. We could absolutely oppose all of his policies and his crazy personality, but, at the end of the day, we’re trying to assemble a governing majority. You can take your eyes off that prize. ... I’m focused on trying to figure out how do we fight him but do so in a way that leaves a bridge open to definitely motivating more liberals, but also, understanding and converting more people who are right now in the Trump camp.”
He's right; we need to focus on the bigger picture than rant and rave at idiotic deflections that _____ uses. And we need to work, work, to find people who will do in office what we need and want them to do. And if someone isn't working for We The People either Red or Blue, Vote Them Out.
PS Van Jones is hot. Just sayin'.

I Didn't Say It ....
William H. Macy, Shameless actor, on co-star Emmy Rossum’s demand to be paid the same as Macy:
“They wrote the Equal Rights Amendment in 1927, it didn’t get passed by both houses of Congress until 1972. It still hasn’t been approved by all the states therefore it didn’t make it as an amendment to the Constitution. It’s about f-ing time, don’t you think? She works as hard as I do. She deserves everything. The only thing I got over Emmy Rossum is I’m better looking.”
Rossum and Macy are both the stars of that show so why aren’t they paid the same? I mean, it’s that simple, no?

Kellyanne Conway, saying the White House was “irresponsible” for saying _____ knew about the Russian hack:
“That is just remarkable. That is breathtaking. I guess [Josh Earnest]’s auditioning to be a political pundit after his job is over soon. That is incredibly disappointing to hear from the podium of the White House press secretary, because he basically—he essentially stated that the president-elect had knowledge of this, maybe even fanned the flames. It’s incredibly irresponsible and I wonder if his boss, President Obama agrees.”
Obama does, you tool, he does agree.
We all do, but the GOP doesn’t care about that as long as they have the White House ... for now.

Nicholas Landry, LGBT rights activist, on his coming out and his brother, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s battle against equality:
“My coming out process was not the easiest time, and now that I’m standing on my own, I know I can’t sit silent anymore. I’m not really into politics (but) Jeffrey is suing…to block the right for equal marriage and equal rights in the state of Louisiana… It’s that kind of hatred and that kind of bigotry and that type kind of discrimination that is, just, uncalled for.”
You are political, Nicholas, because you are fighting for true equality for all Americans, regardless of their presumed ‘differences.

Jeff Landry, Louisiana’s Republican Attorney General, on his fight against LGBT rights and his relationship with his openly gay brother Nicholas:
“I love my brother, that’s unquestionable… (but) what I tell him is that we have to respect the law. We have to respect the Constitution.”
Um, Jeff, you delusional tool, where does it say in the Constitution that LGBT Americans have no rights.
Please find me that passage or shut the **** up.

Kellyanne Conway, on President-elect _____'s decision to stay on as an executive producer of “The Apprentice”:
“He’s a very transparent guy. Everyone can see what he’s doing and the fact is that he is conferring with all types of experts to tell him what he is allowed to do and not to do as president of the United States. And if this is one of the approved activities, then he will perhaps consider staying on ... but were we so concerned about the hours and hours and hours spent on the golf course of the current president? I mean, the presidents have a right to do things in their spare time or their leisure time. Nobody objects to that.”
Golf is a leisure activity, you tool, producing a TV show is a job.
Seriously, this woman's head is so far up _____'s ass I'm amazed we can hear her speak at all.

Bill Gates, comparing _____ to JFK:
“But in the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that, I think whether it’s education or stopping epidemics … [or] in this energy space, there can be a very upbeat message that [_____’s] administration [is] going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.”
Gates has apparently had the _____ Kool-Aid and lost his ever-loving mind.
Donald _____ is nothing like JFK.

John Barrowman, on losing an acting job because he’s gay:
“The producers pulled me into the office and sat me down—one was gay—and said they didn’t want me to talk about my boyfriend at the time, Scott, who I eventually married…In a nutshell, they asked me to go back into the closet, and I went back to Scott and said, ‘I can’t do that’.”
Barrowman’s example should be followed by all gay actors ... live your life, not your career.

I Didn't Say It
Mostly asshats and wingnuts this week ... but let's start with the non-asshat:
Friday, August 02, 2013
I Didn't Say It ....
Harvey Fierstein, on Orson Scott Card, writer of Ender's Game:
"The quotes that got me
about him weren’t against gay marriage -- he wanted homosexuality criminalized in the United States.
That's what he called for. You want me to be tolerant of you wanting to
criminalize homosexuality? F--k you on your grave, you piece of
s--t."
I loathe the so-called Christians who want me to tolerate
their faith while they use their faith to have me declared a criminal for my
sexual orientation.
The fact is that Orson Scott Card and his ilk chose their faith; I was born this way.
Johnny Weir, on the suggested
boycott of the Winter Olympics in Russia because of their anti-LGBT stance:
"To
have a boycott would not only negate the career of some athletes who have only
one chance at competing at the Games, but also the over-time shifts an
exhausted father takes to make ends meet, or the social acclimatization of a
brother who can’t go on spring break because his brother needed another
costume, or the mother who works part-time at a job far beneath her, just so
she can afford to watch her first born perform for the world. The Olympics are
not a political statement, they are a place to let the world shine in peace and
let them marvel at their youthful talents. ... I respect the LGBT community full heartedly, but I
implore the world not to boycott the Olympic Games because of Russia’s stance
on LGBT rights or lack thereof. I beg the gay athletes not to forget their
missions and fight for a chance to dazzle the world."
I’m on Team Johnny here.
I want our LGBT athletes, and
LGBT ally athletes to go to the games and stand up for the LGBT community and
against Putin’s homophobic, intolerant, and even deadly, policies.
Desmond Tutu, Anglican Archbishop and social rights
activist, on refusing entrance to Heaven if God is a homophobe:
"I would refuse to go to
a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to
the other place. I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how
deeply I feel about this."
So many folks got their robes in a snit over this quote, but
to me, what Tutu is saying is that God isn’t homophobia, and if she was, Tutu
might choose a different after-life.
Blake Skjellerup,
out speed skater, on the suggested boycott of the Winter Olympics in
Russia because of their anti-LGBT stance:
“For me it’s less about taking a stand and more about just
being myself...I have no interest in going back into the closet in Sochi...This
is not about defiance. This is me standing up for what I believe in.”
And, as I said, standing up against Putin’s Russia.
John
Barrowman, on the vicious hostility he experienced after the announcement of his wedding:
"I
don't get it. Some of the comments were outrageously vile. Quoting lines from
the Bible. I won't tolerate it. People like that are banned on my Twitter
account. I tell them to f**k off...People have a right to their beliefs but it
doesn't mean they have to be nasty and deny other people their human rights.
The world is not going to change and fall apart because a gay couple got
married."
It’s love, people.
It’s a man who found the
person with whom he chooses to be married and if you can’t be happy for people
in love then you just can’t ever be happy.
Harvey
Fierstein, on the suggested boycott of the Winter Olympics in
Russia because of their anti-LGBT stance:
"You can’t get them
through a U.N. sanction: 'Oh boy, the U.S. is mad at me. I’m shaking
all the f--k over.' There’s only one way and that's in the pocketbook. You
hurt them in the pocketbook, they shut the f--k up and back the f--k down. ...
And Olympic athletes, I understand: You’ve worked your asses off for this for
years, but there are still bigger things than you hanging something around your
neck. There are bigger things in this world."
I usually agree with Harvey, but I think if we stay away, it’ll
just be like the time we boycotted the Moscow Olympics because of something Russia
did.
Remember that? Not many folks do; and about the only thing
that came of that boycott was that Russia boycotted the LA Olympics in America
after that.
Go. Stand tall. Stand proud. Stand out.
Sharon Osbourne, on Justin Bieber:
“I feel really bad for him.
There’s this little kid with a huge dream, he’s cute, girls love him, and he
wants to be a mean boy, and he’s about as mean as a fuckin’ kitten, and he’s
trying to act out. It’s like pissing in a bucket. It’s like, “Oh, we’re the bad
boys!” Fuck off! You don’t know what bad is. And I think that he’s lost, I
really do. And, at the point he’s at in his career, it’s so dangerous because
we’ve seen it all before a million times. Where do you go when you’re a child
entertainer and then you want to transition to be a man? Very few make it.”
Sing it, Sharon.
Christian Vincent, out gay Danish actor, on why the struggle for LGBT rights in Russia and around the world matters:
"I am privileged enough to be able to say [that I'm gay] openly, even publicly without any consequences. This is not something I need to do or something I have to do but I have the right to do it. The value of this right is not to be underestimated. The value of this right is not to be taken for granted. The absence of this right is lethal. If you are one of those who are, as myself, lucky enough to have this right, I merely ask of you to use it. Our brothers and sisters in Russia among many other places need our voice and our support now more than ever...Awareness has started and awareness is hope. And hope is never silent. So I ask of you once again, tell the world it's not okay."
Word.
I hope Russia gets the message.
