Donna Brazile, Democratic political strategist, after RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said the Democratic  “process was rigged” against Bernie Sanders:

“First of all, they don’t have a process. They are canceling primaries. They have winner-take-all. They don’t have the kind of democracy that we see on the Democratic side. For people to use Russian talking points to sow division among Americans is stupid. So Ronna, go to hell! This is not about — go to Hell! I’m tired of it. We’re not trying to prevent anyone from becoming the nominee. If you have the delegates and win, you will win. This notion that somehow or other Democrats are out to try and put hurdles or roadblocks for one candidate, that’s stupid. I know what’s going on. They are scared of Democrats coming together to defeat Donald _____. Stop using Russian talking points Madam Chairwoman.”

We have candidates on our side; the GOP has no primaries for fear that people will express their displeasure at the Asshat-In-Chief by not voting for him in a GOP primary.

Michael Elizabeth Pence, Vice President saying _____ tapped him to lead the coronavirus task force because of his experience tackling disease outbreaks in Indiana:

“I think it might be the main reason why President Trump asked me to do this. I think by putting me over the administration’s response to the coronavirus, the president wanted to signal the priority that he’s placed on this.”

No ma’am. He put you in charge so that when this blows up and the markets crash and people die, he can blame you.

Jennifer Lopez, whining about not being nominated for an Oscar:

“I was a little sad because there was a lot of buildup to it. I got so many good notices—more than ever in my career, and I’m reading all the articles and I’m going, ‘Oh my God, could this happen?’ And then it didn’t, and it was like, ‘Ouch.’ It was a bit of a letdown. Chris Matthews, Hardball host , announcing his retirement after being accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate comments:

“After conversations with MSNBC I decided tonight would be my last Hardball, so let me tell you why. The younger generations out there are ready to take the reins. You see them in politics, in the media, in fighting for the causes. … A lot of it have to do with how we talk to each other. Compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, included me, might have once incorrectly thought were okay, were never okay. Not then and certainly not today, and for making such comments in the past, I’m sorry.”

Many people called on Matthews to resign or be fired after he compared Sanders’ victory in Nevada to the Nazi defeat of the French during World War II; he was also blasted after a combative interview with Elizabeth Warren was decried as sexist. That interview prompted journalist Laura Bassett, a frequent MSNBC guest, to allege in an op-ed that Matthews made sexist and belittling comments to her off the air.

Sorry Chris, this is on you.

Aaron Schock, the disgraced former GOP congressman from Illinois, confirming what nearly everyone on the planet already knew:

“For those who know me and for many who only know of me, this will come as no surprise. For the past year, I have been working through a list of people who I felt should finally hear the news directly from me before I made a public statement. I wanted my mother, my father, my sisters, my brother, and my closest friends to hear it from me first. The fact that I am gay is just one of those things in my life in need of explicit affirmation, to remove any doubt and to finally validate who I am as a person. In many ways I regret the time wasted in not having done so sooner. …”

Buttigeig, Ellison and Brazile Resist Hair Furor

I’ve written about South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg before—South Bend Mayor PeteButtigieg: Why Coming Out Matters and Could Pete Buttigieg Be Our First GayPresident?—but now, as a candidate for chair of the Democratic National Committee [DNC] Buttigieg gets noticed again for standing up to, and taken on, President _____ calling him “a draft-dodging chickenhawk president":

“I’ll be damned if we’re going to have a draft-dodging chickenhawk president of the United States — who thinks he’s too smart to read his own intelligence briefings — ordering the people I served with back into another conflict because he can’t be bothered to do his job properly.”

Again, Pete is an openly gay man—not that it really matters, but it does—who was deployed to Afghanistan while serving in the Navy Reserves, while Hair Furor received five deferments from the draft—four for educational reasons and one because his feet hurt. Buttigieg is annoyed that a man who ran from service seems so intent on creating fear in the world so more of our men and women can be put in harm’s way. He says that now is the time for Democrats, and We The People, need to “tap into the moral outrage” that is gathering steam across the country and resist and march and vote and end this presidency of fear and hatred and intolerance and bullying.

Other Democratic candidates criticized Trump as well ... with Representative Keith Ellison calling _____ "misogynistic." Ellison also condemned recent immigration raids after reports that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials detained several hundred people this week:

"We've got to be in solidarity, we've got to be with them. We’ve got to be on the line, carrying the sign.”

The DNC’s interim chairwoman, Donna Brazile, similarly spoke out against the raids on Saturday.

“For the last few days, in communities across our country, some of our neighbors heard a knock at their door. Peaceful, hard-working people were asked for their papers. Some were torn from their homes, leaving mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters behind. This is not happening in some faraway dictatorship you have trouble finding on a map. This is happening here, in our America. And we have to keep working, keep fighting and keep speaking out until it stops.”

Undocumented immigrants were arrested this week in Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and an ICE official called the raids an “enforcement surge” coming on the heels of two executive orders signed by _____ last month on immigration enforcement; one ended the “catch and release” policy that allowed people who crossed the border to return to Mexico without being arrested, while the other order called for construction to begin on the $50 billion U.S.-Mexico border wall. 

All for fear; fear spread by a man who ran from the draft via his father’s money and power, and who now thinks every dark-skinned person who speaks differently, looks differently, worships differently, lives differently—in countries where the president has no business dealings of course—should be rounded up and captured because they re the enemy.

They are not ... the enemy lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Buttigieg. Brazile. Ellison. Three Democrats who are standing against the president loudly and clearly, and demanding that we all ...

Resist.

Mike Pence, soon-to-be-failed vice presidential candidate, on [t]Rump’s proposed immigration ban including Christians and Jews from so-called “terrorist” countries:

“We should temporarily suspend immigration from countries that have been compromised by terrorism, which I think is altogether fitting and appropriate. When you look at the Syrian refugee program … the simple fact is that both our Homeland Security and FBI have said there are countries like Syria where people are coming in through routine means, the refugees program and otherwise and we can simply not know who they are for sure. So suspending that program from those countries, I think is in the best interest of the security of our people.”

When pushed to say that this meant the program would include Jewish and Christians citizens of those countries, Pence reiterated again the policy was based on countries where terrorism existed.

So, yeah, Muslims, Jews, Christians … stay away.

That’s so American.

Jonathan Greer, pastor at Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Alabama, in a sermon after being fired for allowing Black children to attend Vacation Bible School:

“There was push-back about the types of children that we were bringing in, and I was asked to not invite black children to the VBS. What they really mean is that someone can wander in off the street and they won’t stop them, but they specifically asked me, explicitly, not to invite black people. … I wanted the church to know that this is not consistent with the gospel. This is not consistent with God’s word that we honor and give dignity to all people. That’s what the Bible teaches us, and all people are worthy and in need of the gospel, and racism denies that to a certain amount of people.”

But it is kinda consistent with Alabama. Sadly.

Donna Brazile, Democratic National Committee chairwoman, condemning Donald [t]Rump and Marco Rubio for speaking at an anti-LGBT  gathering on the two month anniversary of the Pulse nightclub mass shootings:

“Instead of honoring the memory of those we lost at Pulse two months ago, Donald Trump and Marco Rubio have come to Orlando to headline a gathering of some of the nation’s most incendiary anti-gay bigots. We at the DNC join all people of good conscience in expressing our solidarity with the Orlando LGBT community as they continue to grieve the deadliest shooting in American history. We suggest Trump and Rubio disavow these anti-gay extremists who have likened gay people to Nazis and characterized HIV/AIDS as divine ‘penalties’ for being gay. Failing to do so will be yet another example of the utter lack of judgment that makes Trump unfit to serve.”

And another reason to Vote Blue to keep the bigots and haters out of office.

I Didn't Say It ...

Pat Spearman, openly gay Nevada Senator, at the DNC:

“We have heard Donald Trump say that he would protect the LGBTQ community. But he is against marriage equality and has said he is all for overturning it. Donald Trump says that anyone can use any bathroom in Trump Tower but he still supports heinous bathroom bills and he would strip away the rights of transgender Americans. But his worst attack on us was his vice presidential pick, Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Governor Pence signed a law that allows individuals and businesses to deny services to LGBTQ Americans, and he used religion as a weapon to discriminate. As a lesbian, that hurts me. As a person of faith, that offends me. And as a legislator working hard to create jobs, that baffles me.”

It’s because [t]Rump is a hypocrite who changes his opinion as the mood suits him. One more reason he should never get near the oval!

Christine Leinonen, mother of Orlando shooting victim Christopher Leinonen, at the DNC:

“It takes about 5 minutes for a church bell to ring 49 times. I know this because last month my son Christopher, his boyfriend Juan, and 47 others were murdered at a club in Orlando. Christopher was my only child, as I used to tell him, you can’t do better than perfect. … Christopher was a big Hillary supporter. That’s why I’m here. So that I can tell you about the day he was born. At the time I was a Michigan state trooper. When I went into labor the hospital put my off-duty gun in a safe. I didn’t argue. I know common sense gun policies save lives. The weapon that murdered my son fires 30 rounds in one minute. … One minute for a gun to fire so many shots. Five minutes for a bell to honor so many lives. I’m glad common sense gun policy was in place the day Christopher was born, but where was that common sense the day he died? I never want you to ask that question about your child. That’s why I support Hillary Clinton.”

How can anyone — except for the NRA and the NRA-backed members of Congress — not see what she is saying: common sense.

And Christopher might still be here.

But I have never, ever, in all my years seen a leader so committed to delivering that better future to America’s children as Hillary Clinton [and] I remember thinking immediately, here is a woman who doesn’t mess around. Steel in her spine, Hillary didn’t want to talk about anything other than how to make children’s lives better. That’s the Hillary I know. At her core, rooting her to this earth, is the belief that every child, black or white, rich or poor, native-born, immigrant, or undocumented, deserves the opportunity to live up to their God-given potential. … As a child I sat in the back of the bus. I was told, time and time again, that God’s potential didn’t exist in people like me. I’ve spent my life fighting to change that. And, from the first day when I met Hillary Clinton, I’ve known that she’s someone who cares just as much and fights just as hard.”

Can you imagine a Donald [t]Rump fighting for children? I mean, not the ones who work in the sweatshops producing his, and Ivanka’s, clothing lines.

Gregory Angelo, head of the oxy-moronic Log Cabin Republicans, on the GOP’s viciously anti-LGBT platform and [t]Rump:

“As far as LGBT issues go, he has actually been a leader on LGBT rights. He said he would be our friend as president and he said we live in a remarkable society where people ‘love who they love and express themselves as they are.’”

Hey, Gregory. Why not read everything he says about LGBT issues and how he’s changed his mind over and over and over again.

Better still, hand in your copy of The Gay Agenda and send back the Toaster Oven.

We’ll save those for LGBT Americans who can see and hear the hate in [t]Rump.
