Bobservations

Carlos couldn’t bear to part with the old tiles from the kitchen countertops and tried to find a way to use them; most of his ideas involved gluing them to parts of the house and I put the kibosh on those. But then he got together with our contractor, Craig, and came up with trivets to use for hot pots and pans on the new countertops.

Keeping the old with the new is a fabulous idea.

This Tale of Tuxedo is from March 2011 … and is entitled “Consuelo Roca Jones: #11 of 1500” because I was going to post 1500 pictures of her; a goal I have yet to reach I believe. Anyway …

When we adopted Miss Jones, they gave us a small bag of cat food, and this toy. It has a ball that runs through a channel, and lights up as it does so, with a scratch pad in the center. Little Miss Jones loves to bat the ball around and watch it light up.

We also bought another scratching tool for all the cats, but Tuxedo has taken to it most of all. He loves to sit in it, play under, lay atop it, but, most of all, guard it from the other cats.

That's my boy!

Never let it be forgotten that DUI hire Pete Hegseth once spent $6.9 million on lobster, $15.1 million on ribeye steak, $2 million on Alaskan king crab, $1 million on salmon, $124,000 on ice cream machines, and $139,000 on doughnuts during a September 2025 end-of-year spending surge.

And now there’s sailors not being fed, given no toiletries and living in filth on the USS Abraham Lincoln.

I didn’t think I’d have to say it again, but this is why you don’t put drunken sexual predators in positions of power. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Hakeem Jeffries says he doesn't support Medicare for all in the richest nation on Earth.

I no longer support Hakeem Jeffries who, as a member of Congress pays next to nothing for his healthcare.

Now, to cleanse my palate from both Hegseth and Jeffries here’s this:

Mackenzie Scott, the ex-missus Jeff Bezos, has just donated $70 million to Meals on Wheels as elderly people face a four-month wait list.

Her ex-husband, meanwhile, wants you to tip Amazon drivers working in the heat of summer while he pockets somewhere between $40 million and $8o million a day.

Just more proof that in this chaos it’s the women doing the right things.

ICEstapo officers may soon be outfitted with gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks intended to gain compliance from combative individuals.

But remember this one thing: spraying electric shock gloves with water can cause them to malfunction. Oops.

Carlos and I watched the return of Kimmel to the airwaves on Tuesday night and he killed his monologue, making it funny and emotional and heartfelt and defiant. We stayed watching after the monologue when he had actor Glen Powell on and Carlos’ utter lack of Pop Culture knowledge first had him asking if Powell was a football player.

“No, he’s an actor.”

“But he’s related to Colin Powell?”

“You think he’s related to Colin Powell because they have the same last name?”

“Maybe.”

“Well, by your logic then you’re related to Kamala Harris.”

“aaaaaaah, Cousin Kamala.”

Seriously; he’s lucky I didn’t have my cartoon frying pan!

This Tuxedo Says is from April 2021:

What? Y’all know Tuxedo has the Common Sense. It’s a shame the two-legged inhabitants of the planet don’t always follow his lead.

Just a note to Erika Kirk, if you feel the need to have merch tables at your husband’s memorial, you are a grifting piece of sh*t.

That’s all.

While honoring Chris Wallace at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony Arnold Schwarzenegger tried making a joke about ex-wife Maria Shriver, saying:

“I know a lot about journalists. I’ve been interviewed—you can imagine, in my lifetime—by thousands and thousands of journalists, but not only that, I was also married to a journalist. [And] the only difference between Chris and Maria is that Chris has never taken half my money.”

Arnold forgot to mention that his wife took half his money because [A] California is a community property state and [2] She found out after nearly 25 years of marriage that her husband had been schtupping the housekeeper and the pair had a grown son.

Oh Arnold, you should have kept your mouth and your pants zipped.

Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $70 million to the UNCF, as the nation’s largest private provider of scholarships to minority students works to raise $1 billion to strengthen all 37 of its Historically Black Colleges and Universities [HBCuS].

The gift is one of Scott’s largest single donations ever and among the first to be publicly disclosed in 2025. Famously private, Scott only discusses her donations through her website and does not confirm them until after the recipients do.

Be a MacKenzie and not a Bezos.

Be Like MacKenzie Scott ... Cuz It's Pisses Off Elonia Musk

I laugh at Elon Musk because, while he’s super-rich he has never created anything; he has just copied someone else’s homework, or bought it, and then passed it off as his . And that’s why I love it when he gets schooled … like this:

In a post on X—the social media platform he did not design or build but bought and slapped an X onto—that he has since deleted he cagily mentioned MacKenzie Scott, former spouse of Amazon Asshat Jeff Bezos:

“Super-rich ex-wives who hate their former spouse [should be listed among] reasons that Western Civilization died.”

In response, MacKenzie Scott spoke softly and carried her big wallet and announced that she is donating $640 million to 361 different charitable organizations this year, well more than twice the $250 million she pledged to give away last year. The open call for applications initially planned for 250 awards of $1 million each but according to Yield Giving, the foundation Scott created:

In light of the incredible work of these organizations, as judged by their peers and external panelists, the donor team decided to expand the awardee pool and the award amount.

The 279 organizations in the top tier of scores received $2 million each and the 82 organizations in the next tier received $1 million each.

This year’s awards bring Scott’s total lifetime philanthropic giving over the past five years to approximately $17.2 billion, close to half the $36 billion in Amazon stock she received in her divorce settlement.

BAM!

And this is what MacKenzie Scott had to say about her wealth in 2019:

In addition to whatever assets life has nurtured in me, I have a disproportionate amount of money to share. My approach to philanthropy will continue to be thoughtful. It will take time and effort and care. But I won’t wait. And I will keep at it until the safe is empty.

Good for her, because how she elects to spend her money is up to her—though I’m sure Elon subscribes to the “your bank account, my choice” bull shit: I mean wonder how Elon would respond if anyone, and god forbid a woman, were to tell him how to spend his money.

Now, perhaps Elon disagrees with her  approach, or with some of the organizations chosen to receive donations, and that’s his right, as it is his right to express how he feels. But then Elon also said this at one point:

“Constantly seek criticism. A well-thought-out critique of what you’re doing is as valuable as gold.”

But “super-rich ex-wives blah blah blah” is not a well-thought-out critique; it’s more of a butt hurt man whimpering about a woman with money which may be why Scott didn’t respond. Instead of dwelling on negative emotions from some asshat who, again, has never built anything and offers up no good deeds with his coins ever, Scott knows she cannot control Musk though she can control her response.

Which clearly was not just to stay the course and keep on donating and donating, but to literally double down on her donations, not in response to Elon because he is not worthy of it, but because she believes in what she’s doing, and in the work of the organizations her foundation chose to fund.

“And I will keep at it until the safe is empty.”

In a world of Elon Musks, whose business venture he did not create, but bought and watched them explode on the highways or catch fire in the driveways or implode of the internet, be a MacKenzie Scott.

Bobservations

I’ve said before that Carlos uses Voice Over and Siri on his phone and both are set somewhat loudly so he can hear them. The other morning I joked that he and his “team” are too loud and he was confused.

“When I’m back in the office, and you’re practicing your trumpet in the sunroom, I hear Siri count down your timer, and I also hear you ask her to tell you a joke.”

“You do not.”

“And then, when I’m in bed and you come into the room, you turn off Voice Over and it yells:

“VOICE OVER OFF.”

“And you ask Siri to set a 7AM alarm and she says: YOUR 7AM ALARM IS SET.”

“I’ve been trying to do that before I come back to bed.”

“And I can still hear you. Maybe you should go up the driveway to the street and give your commands.”

“Maybe I will.”

“But then you’ll wake the entire neighborhood.”

That stunned him  into silence.

This Tuxedo Memory is from July 2015

“A Bit of Tuxedo

He doesn't like Daddy on the computer and he hates when Daddy takes his picture.

And these are either from the fireworks ... he hates the booms ... or, again:

"For the love of God, Daddy, put down the camera, I'm just a cat!"

Oh Tucky, you are more than just a cat.”

And he was the Best Cat Ever.

Inmate # P01135809’s new joint fundraising agreement with the Republican National Committee [RNC] directs donations to his campaign and to a PAC that pays the criminal’s legal bills before the RNC gets a cut.

The illegal-sounding diversion of funds to the Save America PAC makes it more likely that GOP donors could see their money go to lawyers for the criminal, who have already received some $76 million over the last two years to defend him against four felony indictments and multiple civil cases. And some Republicans are worried that the criminal’s takeover of the RNC could shortchange the cash-strapped party, making it harder for them to run for office.

Good. These asshats thought they were hooking their wagons to the savior of the party but they’re now chained to the man who will bankrupt the RNC like he does most of his businesses.

Little known fact: in the years before the crowbar was invented, crows had to drink at home. You’re welcome.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott is once again opening her wallet to donate some of her billions to worthy causes, which has the rightwingnuts crying foul.

Scott announced that she will donate $122 million to 67 migrant-advocacy organizations for legal aid and other assistance; she will also give $117 million to 67 prisoner-advocacy groups and other organizations helping prisoners and ex-convicts, and will donate $72 million to 43 groups that promote “gender identity,” “sexual orientation” and other LGBTQ causes.

In a world full of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk be like MacKenzie Scott because that’s how you billionaire.

During an appearance on “Hot Ones” former actor and current annoyance to the world Gwyneth Paltrow was asked about a long-standing rumor that former President Bill Clinton slept through a White House screening of her 1996 film, “Emma.”

“True. He was snoring right in front of me. I was like, ‘Wow, I guess this is going to be a real hit movie.’ But it was, so f–k you, Bill Clinton!”

If Goop is gonna cuss out everyone who falls asleep during any of her films, she’ll be touring the world and dropping f-bombs for all eternity and won’t have any time to make her vagina scented candles.

Moving through the probate process is a tedious experience; it’s a lot of hurry up and wait. The attorney who drafted my father’s will is the one I hired to manage the process and I would occasionally get stressed out, wondering if I was doing the right thing at the right time. But I was assured that it’s just a slow process but will be over before I know it and then this happened …

While at work on Monday I got a phone call from the lawyer’s legal assistant and she told me she had bad news.

Stress level up! The attorney I hired … died.

Seriously. He contracted pneumonia and was hospitalized at which time they discovered he also had leukemia, and he passed very quickly.

Stress level way up! But, his assistant talked me down, I offered her and his wife my condolences, and was directed toward a new attorney to take on the probate. Hopefully, there won’t be much longer time to complete the process.

Fingers crossed.

Carlos has lots of little sayings that he learned as child that translate rather easily into English. When he says that something or someone is a “Storm in a glass of water,” he means “Tempest in a tea pot.”

But the other morning, watching the news, there was a rather attractive journalist, and Carlos muttered something under his breath in Spanish and when I asked what it was he said:

“He thinks he’s hotter than the shit coming out of a cow’s ass.”

I didn’t get the Spanish version, but in English it was spot on.

This is Tuxedo's new 'Get Out and Vote' ad campaign. It's a little graphic for some, but it gets the point across quite nicely. CAST A  GODDAMNED VOTE!!

MacKenzie Scott, the ex-Missus Jeff Bezos, is at it again … she donated $84.5 million to the Girl Scouts—the largest-ever single donation in the organization’s history—to go toward creating “more equitable membership opportunities” in underserved areas; expanding programs on career readiness, mental health and exploring STEM fields; bolstering research, staff and volunteer training; and upgrading Girl Scout facilities to be more accessible and resilient to climate change.

She has donated more than $3.8 billion to 465 non-profit organizations since her divorce from money-grubbing scum Bezos and still has $17 billion more to give to fulfill her pledge to give roughly half of her income to charity.

Good on her.

After Herschel Walker and many in the GOP and the rightwingnut news organizations claim Walker had a decisive victory over Senator Raphael Warnock , Herschel skipped their second debate forcing Warnock to debate an empty lectern … which is really just a repeat of the first debate.

I totally called this … Pete Buttigieg—whose only political experience before his 2020 presidential bid was serving as mayor of South Bend, Indiana—has become the most requested surrogate on the campaign trail for Democratic candidates in the midterms, even over Kamala Harris.

Both Buttigieg and Harris are expected to run to succeed Biden—whether in 2024 0r 2028—but for Democrats looking ahead, the party’s preference for Buttigieg on the trail may be an early indicator of the future direction of the party overall.

In the penalty trial of Nikolas Cruz, who murdered 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, the jury has sentenced hm  to life without parole.

Some people, like Florida’s Fascist Governor Ron DeathSantis, were outraged that Cruz wasn’t sentenced to death; I was not. I am not now, nor have I ever been a proponent of the death penalty. It is not a deterrent to crime, and the convict can spend years in appeals, wasting millions in taxpayer money, trying to overturn the verdict. I could explain why I feel this way, but I’m going to let Dennis Shepard, father of Matthew, explain why he preferred life without parole for Matthew’s murderer, Aaron McKinney:

“You won’t be a symbol. No years of publicity, no chance of commutation, no nothing—just a miserable future and a miserable end. It works for me….Mr. McKinney, I give you life in the memory of one who no longer lives. May you have a long life, and may you thank Matthew every day for it.”

Let Cruz go to sleep every night and wake up every day for the rest of his miserable life knowing exactly why he’s there and never getting out.

Texas’ Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has certified that the 50 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Ron DeSantis were victims of a crime taking a key step in qualifying them for a special visa they would not have otherwise been eligible for:

“Based upon the claims of migrants being transported from Bexar County under false pretenses, we are investigating this case as possible Unlawful Restraint.”

Publicity stunt backfired, eh Ron?

I look at this promotional signage and wonder how much they paid the ad agency to produce it, and how many people signed off on it at each and every stage and yet never noticed.

New Jersey lawmakers unveiled sweeping gun legislation to restrict when and where guns can be carried outside of the home. The bill would require people who carry guns in public purchase liability insurance—the first statewide mandate of its kind in the nation should the bill become law—and ban guns from being carried in 25 broad categories, including but not limited to government buildings, health care facilities, airports, casinos and private properties where the owners have not given express permission to have guns.

Maybe add schools and churches and Walmart’s and concerts and movie theaters and synagogues to the list?

For some reason Carlos thinks my new holiday hosting outfit is inappropriate … something about sequins? Too many? Not enough?

Mackenzie Bezos Scott Continues Giving

It’s no secret I loathe Jeff Bezos, who treats his employees horrifically—Amazon drivers are given bottles to pee into so they don’t have to stop for breaks—and makes billions during a pandemic because he forced his employees to return to work or lose their jobs. In addition, the mothef%er is spending billions building a rocket so he can go into space where no one can hear their employees scream.

Look, I get it, it’s his money, but perhaps he should take a note from his ex-wife Mackenzie Bezos Scott, and give away the majority of her money, and yet still have more than enough to live a very, very comfortable.

Just recently Mackenzie and her new husband Dan Jewett made a $2.74 billion … yes, billion with a ‘b’ … donation “to organizations that focus on the arts and combating racial discrimination.” This brings the total of her charitable donations to $8.5 billion … again, ‘b’ … in the last year while her husband tries to prove his manhood by building a rocket so he can be the first rich white billionaire asshat in space.

MacKenzie detailed her continued efforts to fulfill The Giving Pledge she signed in May of 2019—her new husband also signed that pledge—with the help of a team of “researchers and administrators and advisors” to ensure their donations make the greatest impact possible, saying:

“People struggling against inequities deserve center stage in stories about change they are creating. This is equally—perhaps especially—true when their work is funded by wealth. Any wealth is a product of a collective effort that included them. The social structures that inflate wealth present obstacles to them. And despite those obstacles, they are providing solutions that benefit us all.”

Look, I don’t think she’s purposely trying to make her husband look like a self-entitled one-percent prick, but it is an added bonus.

Sidenote, Mackenzie Scott is worth about $59 billion.
