Bobservation

Really just a singular Bobservation about the madness that can be me and my thoughts and how Carlos helps save me from myself.

Ooooh, dark, eh?

During Christmas, Carlos suggested a vacation, just the two of us, for some time in January. He said it was for my birthday and “other stuff,” and I knew what that meant.

You see, we’re coming up on a year since my father died and I have had this feeling that I might not live past that date; I said it was dark. I don’t dwell on it, but the fact that so many of my close family have died in February makes my mind go there, so Carlos planned a vacation.

In the last four years or so our “vacations” were just me, or sometimes the two of us, going to Oregon because my father had a health issue and needed help at home; and I was always glad to go and help, but it became a depressing thought … flights, airports, cars were not for fun trips but for family responsibility and that became a drag as much as I wanted to help and was only too happy to help, so Carlos planned a trip.

New York was a first choice because he knows how much I love it but the cold snap, with 30s during the day and below freezing at night kinda put a damper on exploring the city outdoors as we like to do, so he switched gears … Savannah.

All the years we’ve lived here we never visited so he thought a new place would be just the thing, and it was, except while we got a hair over an inch of snow, Savannah got nearly half a foot, so it was cold down there and icy down there and, yeah.

But it was just the trip we ... I ... needed. Just the two of us lounging in the hotel room in early mornings, and then going on walkabouts through the waterfront and down into the Historic District, the City Market, art galleries, coffee shops, hole-in-the-wall pubs and some upscale eateries. We wandered and ate and drank and drank some more, and then ate again, and laughed and talked and just had a good time.

It really was the getaway we both needed, me especially at this time. While I am generally a positive person, I can get dark and very introspective and a little nutty at times and while this trip didn’t change that ... I am still dreading the next few weeks ... it did give me, both of us, a much-needed break.

I joke about Carlos, pick on his eyesight, and his horrid hearing, his forgetfulness, his love of Nerd News, the disasters he leaves in the kitchen … that’s all. I kid; I joke about all of that but there is no one who gets me more and knows what I need and how to make me feel better on those Blue Days that come up, or maybe even the Blue Months. He understands that this first year will be difficult as my mind wanders into the abyss, but I really am very lucky that I found him, and he found me.

Now … that’s all … other than a few photos of Savannah.

I'm Still ... Where?

Many of you guessed correctly, and then I found this shot which I thought might throw a monkey-wrench into the question; and that was BEFORE I noticed the license plate on the car!!! That really would have twisted the talk!

Today Is My Birthday ...

And since I put this up before we left town I can safely say I have no idea where I am.

Bobservations

We were out running errands the other day and sort of traveling along in silence when I looked at Carlos and said:

“Yes?”

“I didn't say anything."

"I know, say something!"

"I have nothing to say."

YOU have nothing to say? You ALWAYS have something to say, which is why my eyes are constantly rolled back in my head.”

“I’m not talking to you anymore.”

And then he proceeded to talk and talk and talk and talk and my eyes rolled so far back into my head I was able to see the opposite side of my skull.

This Tuxedo Says is from July 2020:

Tuxedo is growing tired of these All Lives Matter idiots and tries to explain why … again.

He proved his point.

Well, the snow finally came, not a lot, but enough to make the house look purty … oh, and cold. And as is the case with South Carolina, even an inch-and-a-half of snow shut everything down. Even my boss called work off, though it helps since most SCer’s can’t drive in the heat so the snow and ice would be deadly!

Monday afternoon I was speaking with a couple of clients near the end of the day when one suggested they get going; they were going out to dinner to celebrate, they said so I asked:

“What are you celebrating?”

“That we’re making America great again.”

I reminded myself that we do not discuss politics with clients so I quickly said:

“Oh, are we?”

“So you didn’t support him?”

“Does he support me? I am a gay man, legally married for over ten years, and together with Carlos for nearly twenty-five years, and his party wants to erase my marriage so, No, I do not and will not ever support him.”

I then told them I think their event would be better suited to a different person and told them to have a nice night.

Then I reported myself to my boss who looked at me, shook his head and said:

"I don't blame you one bit."

That was nice.

Ah, that feeling when even you know you have fabulous cakes and can’t keep your hands off of them.

I don’t care what he calls, and I don’t care that the chickenshit media calls it an “unfortunate” gesture, after the inauguration of a rapist felon, the man who owns him, Leon Skum, gave the crowd a Nazi salute; twice.

When they show you who they are, believe them.

After years of being praised by MAGAts as “sent by God” to save America, when The Felon took the oath of office on Monday he did not place his hand on the Holy Bible. I guess maybe he thought it might explode like one of President Musk’s rockets.

PS Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like Fake Melanie making her first appearance since the election. And, if sio, why is she dressed like a Rabbi?

Will Howard is the quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes and this past weekend his team beat Notre Dame to win the National Championship; in an interview he thanked God for the win.

Cuz, you know, God likes Will Howard more than Notre Dame’s quarterback; or maybe God, after watching LA burn and countless thousands of people go homeless, decided not to help those people when there was a football game at stake.

As our Late Great Anne Marie would say, “FOAD.”

Cole Forsgen is a fitness and lifestyle model … whatever that is, but … Would You Hit It?

And tomorrow begins the Great Blindfold Getaway … I don’t know where we’re headed, but I will be driving wherever Carlos directs … wish us well.

Why Is It ...

… that I've NEVER seen long lines of pro-lifers lining up to be foster parents.

… that unless you’re music, I kinda prefer not to listen to you?

… that sometimes my road rage is so bad that I wish I could Bluetooth into someone’s car and cuss them out through their speakers.

… that they still call it a “vacation request” when it’s more of a “vacation awareness” because I’m not requesting anything, I’m making you aware that I won’t be in this week.

… that even though I keep my mouth shut, sometimes, you can read the subtitles on my face.

… that nothing seems to last longer than a video someone is showing you that you have no interest in.

… that back when I was trying to find the Yee to my Haw, all I could find was the Hell to my Naw.

… that I don’t always tolerate stupid people but when I do I’m probably at work.

… that self-discipline is so hard? Is it because I’m the boss of me and I run a really loose ship?

… that HR says I’m no longer allowed to answer the phone with, “For fuck’s sake, what now?”

Back Soon ....

I am back home, and going back to work this week. I won't have to go back to Oregon for a few weeks until I get Death Certificates for the banks and so on, but much of the work can be done at home, but ...

I will take Maddie's advice and take February off this year.

I'll see y'all soon.

Well ...

Well, clearly I didn’t take the laptop so I could blog and comment on blogs, and I didn’t use my phone except for pictures, boarding passes for flights, car and hotel reservations  and directions to restaurants, so I really was unplugged and I really loved it. And that made the trip all the more peaceful and relaxed, even with plane delays both going and coming home; peaceful.

And that was the trip. We had a nice visit with my Dad … Carlos hadn’t been out since the pandemic ended … and we enjoyed our first real vacation together in a couple of years … other than weekends away and such.

We strolled the old town of Newport; it’s quite touristy but I love the views of the old bridge, even from underneath. Strolling through town I saw these two figures outside of Ripley's Believe It or Not! … or as I called it, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not They Still Exist. But I did like the lion and the gorilla outside the building seemingly crafted out of tires.

And of course you have to see, and hear, the sea lions in the bay. During a particularly bad storm their little sunbathing spot had been damaged and the town fixed them up a new perch almost instantly. They may be loud, but the people want what the people want.

Even better, though, was a glass of Dead Guy Pilsner and a bowl of Clam Chowder at the Rogue Brewery overlooking the marina. We always stop in there for a beer or three and a good lunch.

We took morning and afternoon walks along the beaches up and down the coast; the water’s a wee bit cold, but the days were mostly sunny and cool, and the sea is good what ails you. In that last photo is a teeny tiny view of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse …

And there’s the lighthouse up close; still in operation though unmanned these days, it’s sits in a spot called Cape Foulweather … doesn’t that sound lovely. The coastline is especially rugged—for people—but the birds seem to love perching on the rocks; along one side of the Lighthouse you can hike down to the beach for a totally different view.

And we’ll take a moment for the I Don’t Like People segment of the tour. The lighthouse has designated paths and trails, all fenced in to keep humans from trampling on the native vegetation.

But please to explain these fools standing off the path to take pictures, having walked over this sign to do so? Seriously, I don’t like many people.

Another scenic peaceful sight was the walks along the Willamette River, where we had a couple of drinks, a nosh of two, and then relaxed in a beautiful garden of native plants and flowers at the water’s edge. The geese were out that day, heads turning in unison if they thought someone might have some breadcrumbs.

I love this message on a lamp post … ‘You have five days,’ it said, though someone edited it to say, ‘You haven’t five days.’ As it turned out we hadn’t five days left, but just one last night and another dreamy cock-a-tale at Twigs Bistro in Vancouver: I give you the Lunazul Reposado Jalapeno Cilantro Margatini.

What a way to end a trip … hic.

So, we’re back, and getting back to the home routines of animals and lawns and life. All in all, it was a beautiful peaceful fun trip, and so glad we got a way.

Vacation: Bobservations

As you read this we are on our way to the Left Coast to visit my Dad and play around a little in Portland. I have a few things planned for this spot, but I have yet to decide if the laptop will come with me. So I may be commenting, and I may be taking a Technology Vacation.

Play nice and I’ll see y’all live again on August 14th.

From December 2011 …

“The Tuesday Tuxedo

You know, what goes around........

Tuxedo was my feline caregiver when I was sick--with Carlos being my human nurse. He would sit at my side, or rather, he would sit on me, leading me to think he was one of those Death Cats, waiting for me to, ahem crossover. Now, I know that all he wanted was for his Daddy to get better.

And I am getting better.

So, when Tux needed a little pampering, well, he got it. He curled up in an Afghan my mother made for me, and napped, while I periodically checked on him, and brought him, snacks, and sat on him, well, by his side.

Here's to my Round-The-Clock Nurse, Tuxedo.”

He was quite the Nursemaid for a sick daddy.

There’s a new, unexpected name at the top of the Christian music charts: Drag queen Flamy Grant.

Yes, Grant’s album Bible Belt Baby, released last October, is the No. 1 album on the iTunes Christian and Gospel chart; in addition, her song “Good Day” peaked at No. 1 alongside the album for a period.

How did this happen, you ask? It all started when Faux Christian recording artist Sean Feucht Tweeted criticism of Christian singer-songwriter Derek Webb for collaborating with Grant. And Flamy took his Hate to Twitter, er, X and the rest is herstory!

Hate loses.

Ron DeSaster, flailing in his quest for the GOP presidential nomination, has promised that, if elected, he will overthrow the “failed ruling class”:

“We can no longer allow the failed ruling class in this nation to dictate our nation’s policies. The elites in this country have failed time and again. They’ve imposed policies that have proven short-sighted and have proven counterproductive. We are today declaring our economic independence from the failed elites and policies that have harmed this nation’s middle class.”

Of note, Ronnie’s campaign and super PAC have relied heavily on million-dollar and multi-million-dollar donations from the very wealthy, er, the ruling class, and Ronnie himself graduated from those not-at-all-elite schools of Harvard and Yale.

His name should be Dick.

Broadway and TV actor Cheyenne Jackson wants to let you know he's on Cameo and is doing so with a very hot thirst-trap photo of his, ahem, "jacked physique.”

Sidenote: Yes, I have called Madge thirsty for posting sexy pictures of herself to Instagram, but here’s the deal: she ain’t Cheyenne, and I'm that shallow.

That’s all.

If it looks like a grifter, lives like a grifter, and acts like a grifter, it’s Thing 45.

Yes, The Former Guy’s Save America PAC has spent more than $40 million on legal costs in the first half of 2023 alone to defend The Indicted One and the majority of the donations come from small donors meaning people with little to no money are paying the legal bills for an ALLEGED billionaire because he doesn’t pay his own bills.

Save America? More like Save The Fast Ass Of A Criminal.

What’s the difference between a twink and a washing machine?

A washing machine doesn’t blow up your phone for weeks and weeks and weeks after you put a couple of loads in it.

Lachlan McLean is an Australian former soccer player and model but who cares about all that? Would You Hit It?
