I Didn't Say It ...

Pete Buttigieg, reacting to the partial results of the delayed Iowa caucus vote:

“It validates the idea that we can expand a coalition not only unified around who it is we’re against but around what it is that we’re for. And it validates for a kid somewhere in a community …. wondering … if he belongs, or she belongs, or they belong, in their own family, that if you believe in yourself and your country, there’s a lot backing up that belief.”

He may not win the nomination, but he made history.
And he made a community proud.
Lamar Alexander, GOP Coward, saying believes _____ withheld military aid to Ukraine to “encourage” its government to investigate the Bidens:

“If you have eight witnesses who say someone left the scene of an accident, why do you need nine? I mean, the question for me was: Do I need more evidence to conclude that the president did what he did? And I concluded no.”

So, he did what he did, and you think that’s okay for a president to do. And you think this acquittal, which you will vote for, will embolden him to be just as corrupt?
Seriously. Fuck off. No, seriously fuck off.
Rashida Tlaib, Democratic congresswoman, apologizing for leading a chorus of boos for Hillary Clinton at a Bernie Sanders event:

“I am so incredibly in love with the movement that our campaign of #NotMeUs has created. This makes me protective over it and frustrated by attempts to dismiss the strength and diversity of our movement. However, I know what is at stake if we don’t unify over one candidate to beat Trump and I intend to do everything possible to ensure that Trump does not win in 2020. In this instance, I allowed my disappointment with Secretary Clinton’s latest comments about Senator Sanders and his supporters get the best of me. You all, my sisters-in-service on stage, and our movement deserve better. I will continue to strive to come from a place of love and not react in the same way of those who are against what we are building in this country. This is about building a just and equitable future for my two boys, children across the country, and future generations.”

Nice that you apologized, though you never should have done it in the first place because you are standing on the shoulders of Hillary Clinton and every woman who came before you.
Show some respect.
Martin O'Malley, former candidate for president and governor of Maryland, on Bernie:

“Bernie’s still being given a bit of a free pass by the national media. I do not believe that he would be a strong candidate for our party in the fall. And, except for three months out of every four years, he’s not even of our party.”

Bernie is not a Democrat, until election time.
Bernie has not passed, written, proposed, any notable legislation in his entire career.
That said, if Bernie’s the nominee, he gets my vote.
PS O’Malley is dreamy AF.
Joni Ernst, Iowa Republican Senator, has already vowed to impeach Joe Biden if he’s elected president, after saying that using impeachment as a weapon is wrong:

“I think this door of impeachable whatever has been opened. Joe Biden should be very careful what he’s asking for because, you know, we can have a situation where if it should ever be President Biden, that immediately, people, right the day after he would be elected would be saying, ‘Well, we’re going to impeach him.’”

Take a seat, Joni, because if the Blue Wave strikes again, your party will be irrelevant.
Frank BruniNYT columnist, Pete Buttigieg’s so-called ‘gay reckoning’:

“He has weathered complaints, even derision, from L.G.B.T.Q. progressives, many of whom say he’s not gay enough, his manner and mannerisms too strait-laced, his policy preoccupations too moderate, his success infuriatingly reflective of how readily and well he assimilates into heterosexual America.”

I don’t know where to start … not gay enough? Not fucking gay enough? What does that even mean, because it seems to imply that all gay people should act exactly the same, and we don’t and we never have.
Strait-laved? Why, because he appears to be a nice man? Oh, that’s awful!
He’s too moderate? That’s not a bad thing; think about that pendulum swinging all the way back from the far right of hatred where it sits now, to the far left of utter liberalism. It’s not gonna happen.
I don’t see him assimilating into hetero-culture. I mean, how many heteros are kissing their husbands on the campaign trail? How many heteros are telling their long coming out story?
Knock this stuff off; it serves no one, least of all the LGBTQ+ community.

I Didn't Say It ....

Joe Kennedy III, Massachusetts Democratic Congressman, taking a shot at Lyin’ Paul Ryan and the GOP’s _____Care proposal:

“I was struck last night by a comment that I heard made by Speaker Ryan, where he called this repeal bill ‘an act of mercy.’ With all due respect to our speaker, he and I must have read different scripture. The one that I read calls on us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and give comfort to the sick. It reminds us that we are judged not by how we treat the powerful, but how we care for the least among us. … There is no ‘mercy’ in a system that makes healthcare a luxury. There is no ‘mercy’ in a country that turns its back on those most in need of protection — the elderly, the poor, the sick, and the suffering.”

Isn’t it grand when the liberals throw the Bible back in the face of the Bible thumpers like Ryan who have no idea what the Bible says or means?
Loving it!
David Letterman, on President _____:

“I mean, how do you build a dictatorship? First, you undermine the press: ‘The only truth you’re going to hear is from me.’ And he hires the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Steve Bannon, to be his little buddy. Bannon looks like a guy who goes to lunch, gets drunk, and comes back to the office: ‘Steve, could you have just one drink?’ ‘Fuck you.’ How is a white supremacist the chief adviser to our president? Did anybody look that up?”

Preach it, Dave!
Amar’e Stoudemire, former NBA star, asked if he would have a problem with a gay teammate:

“I’m going to shower across the street, make sure my change of clothes are around the corner. And I’m going to drive [and] take a different route to the gym.”

Isn’t it funny how homophobes always think gay men will come after them? We won’t because you’re an effing Neanderthal.
Amar’e Stoudemire, apologizing for being a homophobic dick:

“I want to apologize for my offensive comments against the LGBT community. These remarks were taken from a larger interview where a reporter was asking me hypothetical questions, and all my answers had a comedic undertone. The answers I gave were meant to be taken as jokes and I am deeply sorry for offending anyone. I am open to creating a dialogue to assist the fight the LGBT community encounters daily and will continue to focus on playing basketball.”

Homophobia isn’t funny, asshat, just like if a white player said he’d cross the street rather than shower with a black player is never, never, funny.
Piss off.
Ben Carson, on slaves and how and why they “chose” to come to America:

“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they, too, had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

I remember reading about Africans being rounded up by slavers, chained together in the holds of ships, crapping themselves, pissing, themselves, fed slop, and having to remain shackled even if the slave next to them died during the voyage.
So, yeah, I believe they saw this as a dram of an opportunity to come to America for a better life by being sold as property, used, beaten, murdered, raped, at the whim of white men.
Ben Carson seriously needs to shut the fuck up.
Martin O’Malley, former governor of Maryland and Democratic Party presidential candidate, trying to persuade people not to attend the White House St. Patrick’s Day gathering:

“The enduring symbol of the United States of America is not the barbed wire fence, it is the Statue of Liberty. So please, ‘in the name of God and of the dead generations from which Ireland receives her old tradition of nationhood, boycott _____’s St. Patrick’s Day gathering at the White House ... Let’s show _____ how many Irish Americans and fellow Americans oppose his policies. Make you Irish ancestors smile. We are not a deportation nation that breaks up immigrant families and separates parents from their children. As John F. Kennedy said, ‘We are a nation of immigrants.’ Our diversity is our greatest strength. Take a stand for the true character of the United States of America—a free and generous country, a Republic with liberty and justice for all.”

Bravo, sir, bravo. We all need to remember that we all came from ancestors who traveled here from somewhere else, and that immigrants are not bad.
Bad is the bigot in the White House spreading fear and hate.
PS Martin O'Malley is hot ... just sayin'.
Gavin Grimm, the trans student, taking his fight to use a bathroom to the Supreme Court—who last week, after _____’s dismissal of Obama’s guidance, sent it back to appeals court:

This case will not be resolved until after I graduate. But this fight is bigger than me. I came to realize that very early on, and it is truer now than it ever has been. This fight is for other trans youth in my high school. It is for other trans youth in Virginia. It is for all trans youth who are in school or one day will be. It is for the friends and loved ones of these youth, who want these children to be happy and healthy, rather than at risk and in danger as so many trans people are.”

The fight will go on, and trans Americans and their allies will be victorious.
Mark my words.

So … Audra. I could sum up her performance with one word: flawless. But y’all know I need more than one word, so ...

The voice is perfection.

The song choices are amazing.

She was gorgeous and funny and thoughtful and thought-provoking.

She talked of her support for marriage equality — she was one of the first — way back when it was just Massachusetts and Iowa—because, as she said it, she’s a beneficiary of the Civil Rights movement, and without that movement back in the 60s, she might not have been able to stand on a stage in Greenville, South Carolina and sing before a mixed audience.

She told a story of playing the Mother Superior in NBC’s live version of The Sound of Music, and how, during the live airing, the actors couldn’t leave the soundstage for fear that the noise from doors opening and closing would be heard on TV. So the actors sat in cubbyholes backstage and, since they also had to keep quiet, Audra live Tweeted the show with her daughter Zoe, who told her that it was beautiful and sounded great and was a fabulous show. Audra texted her back saying she had to go, she was up to sing ‘Climb Every Mountain,’ and when she returned to her phone, hoping to see what her daughter had said, she found this text:

“Do we have dryer sheets? I wanna do some laundry.”

Audra. Flawless.

In a case of ‘My How Things Change’ comes this tidbit … An LGBT community center has opened in Imperial County, California.  Not familiar with Imperial County? Well, here’s the back story:

After the passage of marriage equality in California, several anti-gay groups turned to the deeply conservative Imperial County because they needed a governmental body to defend Prop 8 when the state refused to do so.

Imperial County became the starting point for Prop Hate in 2008 and now, today, they have opened their first LGBT community center.

Times do change, though the march still goes on …
Early next year there's a big change coming to Playboy magazine. No more nudes; citing easy access to nekkid pictures via the internet, Playboy will stop with the nude pictorials.

So I guess folks really will be reading it for the articles.
We missed the democratic debates because of Audra and that was all well and good with me, but I did see a few snaps of that hot guy on my television later on.

Martin O'Malley. If I was a shallow type, or, let’s be real, a more shallow type, I might vote for him for president just to ogle him during each and every news conference and State of the Union Address.
Pedro Redding has been charged in the gang assault and murder of trans woman Keisha Jenkins last week in Philadelphia ... original post HERE.

A judge arraigned Redding on murder, conspiracy and weapons charges noting that he was among a group of “neighborhood individuals” who go around the city’s Hunting Park section robbing people.

So far no other arrests have been made and, again, I wonder how this isn’t a Hate Crime since Keisha Jenkins was murdered — beaten and then shot twice — and not just robbed.
So, there’s a commercial for Campbell’s soup that starts off with a Dad feeding his son, and saying, “Luke, I’m your father.” The camera pans back and there’s another man, who also says, “No, Luke, I am your father.”

Two gay dads feeding soup to their child and One Million Moms Seventy-Five-Thousand Moms wants a boycott.

You know what to do … to the soup aisle at your local grocer and stock up on Campbell’s!
American Horror Story: Hotel. Seriously? You expect me to believe that Lady Gaga would toss aside Matt Bomer for Finn Wittrock?

I mean, Finn can wittrock a pair of black lace briefs, but he’s no Matt Bomer.

Just saying …
So, the CW has cancelled America’s Top Model… about ten years too, late is what I’m thinking. But, Tyra Banks, who gave the world “smizing” — smiling with your eyes — is now giving us crazing, er, crying, and lyzing, um, lying, as she released this statement to Instagram:

TYRA MAIL!

Thinking #ANTM #cycle22 should be our last cycle. Yeah, I truly believe it’s time. Our diehard fans know we’ve expanded the definition of beauty, presented what Flawsome is, tooched and booched and boom boom boomed, shown the world how to show their neck, rocked couture/catalogue/commercial poses, have found our (and your) light, strutted countless runways, gone on tons of go-sees, added guys to the girls mix, and have traveled around the globe and back again. Yeah, it’s time. It really is.

Wow, I am SO proud of what Top Model has done.

Bitch please. The CW kicked you to the curb. And, um, please to explain exactly what it has done?
Another Republican, Richard Hanna a New York Congressman, says the House Select Committee on Benghazi was formed solely to go after the reputation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

And let the Teabaggers begin the Hanna Bashing, though I might ask that, even if you don’t like Hillary Clinton, you’re okay with the GOP spending millions and millions of your tax dollars on a fake investigation?

Just saying.
Lamar Odom is reportedly still in a coma today after being found unconscious after an ALLEGED four-day coke binge at a Las Vegas whorehouse.

The whorehouse is not ALLEGED, however. But, true to form, the Kardastrophes have taken to brooms and flown to his side, after first stopping in hair and makeup and wardrobe, and brought along a camera crew because, well, if they don’t sell it to TV it didn’t happen.

To be fair, the Kardastrophe news channel, AKA TMZ, says the show is on hiatus so there were no cameras, but this is That Woman and her family so I’m kinda thinking that’s a lie because … November sweeps.

Random Musings

The shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston last night is all anyone can talk about.

Was it race motivated because the shooter is white?

Was it faith motivated because it was an attack on a church?

I don’t care; for me, it’s just another day in America where anyone can get a gun and do whatever the Hell they want to do with it.

Oh, and save your 2nd Amendment rights bull shit for someone else because where else in the world do we have people shooting kids and adults in schools, in malls, in movie theaters and in churches? This is an American problem and will never be solved until we have sensible gun control in this country.

The upside is that the shooter has been caught — I won’t print his name because he wants publicity and won’t get it here — but I will say it again:

We need sensible gun control in this country or this will keep happening and happening and happening and we’ll look like idiots because we don’t ever do anything about it.

Rant over …
Jeb Bush unveiled his new logo and conveniently left his last name off of it so we’ll forget he’s a Bush.

We won’t; and do not get me started on how the logo and signage look like something used for a new Broadway musical. Jeb! The story of some backwoods hillbilly running fer public office.
A couple of weeks back, Vitaliy Milonov of the St. Petersburg city legislature, introduced a bill to ban shirtless men in public, Milonov has set his sights on HBO's Game of Thrones.
The lawmaker said Game of Thrones was a typical example of the sin of the West, and blamed the authors for picturing “every tenth character” of the series as having some sexual deviation.

Oh, and Milonov admitted he has never seen GoT, though I imagine he’s hoping to … when he’s alone, at home, with some hand lotion.
Don’t think Hillary has the Democratic nomination for president all sewn up. Bernie Sanders has some great ideas that need discussing, and, well, if I were really shallow  and I am — then I might point out that Democratic contender for the 2016 election, Martin O’Malley is hot.

Now, I’m not saying I’d vote for him because he’s hot, but I am saying that if he gets elected president in 2016, I’d like to pass a law that every single speech he gives be done shirtless.
New show … hot men.

Proof is about a doctor’s quest to find out if there is something after death, and I find the subject interesting because I fully, completely believe in reincarnation or something else after I leave this body. But, speaking of bodies, and hot men, nice segue, eh, let’s talk Edi Gathegi as Zed, a new hot young hotshot doctor. Or David Callum as the writer of books about after-life. Or David Sutcliffe — whom I’ve always found attractive — as well as Matthew Modine, who is aging so nicely.

I like the idea of the show, and hope it gives us some interesting episodes, but I’ll also watch for the man candy because, as I said in that earlier snippet, I’m shallow like that.
Donald Trump threw his toupee into the GOP Clown Car this week, making sure to produce a bank statement to show us how rich he is because, well, nothing says I’ll help the poor and the middle class like I have $9 billion in the bank.

And nothing says presidential like calling all Mexican immigrants, and all brown skinned immigrants, in fact, rapists and thieves.

And nothing says honesty like the story that’s come out about Trump paying people $50 a pop to attend his announcement.
Chipotle has come out for Pride … see what I did there? Out? For Pride? Anyway, I love their ad that’s running during Pride month[s] and I love their food.
Rachel Dolezal. The woman who resigned from the NAACP after it was revealed that the Black man in an Instagram photo she called her dad was not her father and that she was, in fact born a white woman.

Dolezal says she identifies as black, but apparently not so much back in 2004 when she sued Howard University, an historically Black college, for discrimination because she is white.

Make up your mind, Rachel, and then go away.

I love a business that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
