Just A Reminder

Here’s a little something to remember … as Kevin McCarthy appears set to retake the Speaker of the House position he Tweeted:

“In just 47 days, House Republicans will have the gavel, and we will be prepared to hold the Biden administration accountable from day one. Our investigations are just getting started.”

Anyone else notice he said nothing about the “border crisis” or the “inflation crisis” or the “fentanyl epidemic” or any of the other crises the GOP has been blathering about for months?

Anyone else notice that all McCarthy wants to do is punish the Democrats and if anyone still believes the GOP doesn’t put themselves over the country ask yourself what they are doing for you cuz, last time I checked, looking for Hunter Biden’s laptop isn’t gonna bring down the cost of milk.

Also as soon as they take control of the house next year, Republicans will kill a special committee focused on climate change, according to Louisiana Representative Garret Graves, the top GOP member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis:

“The climate crisis committee will not exist. I don’t think that’s really consistent with what we are going to be focused on.”

The Earth will freeze and burn and everyone will die, but the GOP wants that damned laptop!

And then add this to the mix … the GOP has blamed early voting, mail-in voting, women voting, young people voting, too many people voting for their lack of a Red Surge earlier this month. The GOP blames everyone but themselves for their own failures so, again, ask yourself why they want to limit how and when and where we vote if they aren’t trying to cheat.

Remember Florida’s Fascist Governor Ron DeSantis and his publicity stunt of flying migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard because he is pandering for power?

Well, think on this … Florida taxpayers paid for those human trafficking charter flights to the tune of $1.5 million and yet the private jets chartered by the contractor, Florida-based Vertol Systems Company, cost roughly $153,000 for two charter plane trips from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.

That leaves about $1.4 million in Florida taxpayer funds unaccounted for.

So let ask this question … what happened to the money? Did Ron DeSantis not think his own state, subsequently hit by Hurricane Ian which left the Gulf Coast devastated, could have used that money? Or is he just another poser running for President?

Virginia Governor, and Republican because, of course, Glenn Youngkin won his 2020 election by promising to ban anti-racist curriculum from schools. Recently his Secretary of Education, Aimee Rogstad Guidera, consulted conservative think tanks when rewriting the state’s history and social studies curriculum and suggested deleting references to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, one mention of President Barack Obama, and suggested referring to Indigenous people as “America’s first immigrants.”

Erasing history so white people might feel comfortable. Ain’t that America.

I Didn't Say It

Beto O’Rourke, former Texas Representative and candidate for governor, taking on a heckler at a rally who laughed as he described the gun used to murder 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde:

“It may be funny to you, motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me, OK?”

O’Rourke rightfully fired back at the laugher, who was standing among a small group of supporters of GOP asshatted Governor Greg “I don’t care about dead kids” Abbott.

photo

Dan Patrick, Texas GQP Lieutenant Governor, saying the US Constitution was literally written by God:

“We’re a nation founded upon not the words of our founders, but the words of God because he wrote the Constitution. We were a Christian state and lost that for many years.”

No, asshat, we were never a Christian nation and Texas was never a Christian state, which is what we have Freedom OF Religion, and Freedom From Religion.

God wrote the Constitution? I haven’t heard such ridiculous ignorance in a looooong time.

photo

Mick Mulvaney, former acting chief of staff for Thing 45, saying that the reported informant who tipped off authorities about where those classified documents were stored at Mar-a-Lago would have to be “very close” to the former president:

“This would be someone who was handling things on day to day, who knew where documents were, so it would be somebody very close inside the president, my guess is there’s probably six or eight people who had that kind of information. I didn’t know there was a safe at Mar-a-Lago and I was the chief of staff for 15 months.”

Rumors fly that Melanie wants no part of a second term in the White House and maybe she’s the one who squealed.

I kinda believe that.

photo

Lindsey Graham, South Carolina GQP Senator and former Junior Miss, on same-sex marriage:

“I think states should decide the issue of marriage and states should decide the issue of abortion. I have respect for South Carolina. South Carolina voters here I trust to define marriage and to deal with the issue of abortion. Not nine people on the court. That’s my view.”

Graham said he believes the Supreme Court’s 2015 decision to legalize same-sex marriage would not be overturned, but that doing so “would be up to the court.”

Yes, the lifelong “confirmed” bachelor is anti-marriage equality probably because there isn’t a gay man alive who’d put a ring on it for Miss Lindsey. And that poor dear frets so much about always being a bridesmaid and never a bride, that she forgot that South Carolina legalized same-sex marriages in November 2014, before SCOTUS did in June of 2015, so we were ahead of national curve you pandering queen.

Come for my marriage, ma’am, and see how that works for you.

Traitor, after stating his name, pleaded the Fifth while being deposed by the New York Attorney General, and then said when asked to answer a question:

“Same as before.”

He said that 440 times, even after saying only mob bosses plead the Fifth.

For once he and I agree: he’s a criminal.

photo

Glenn Youngkin, Virginia’s GQP Governor, on outing children to their parents:

“With regards to informing parents with most important decisions about their children, I think everybody knows where I stand, parents matter. Parents should be at the forefront of all of these discussions. And I firmly believe that teachers and schools have an obligation to make sure that parents are well informed about what’s happening in their kids’ lives. And one of the things we learned last year during the campaign is that parents were tired of being pushed to the background in their child’s education.”

He says parents matter, but those LGBTQ+ kids who might be kicked out their homes, or worse, when outed to their parents, he doesn’t give a flying fuck about.

And this isn’t about education, it’s about shoving young LGBTQ+ Americans back into a closet to make these fucking Republicans feel better.

Bobservations

Well, I’m blogging from the hospital this week, but don’t worry, the doctor says I’m gonna be just fine.

But be advised, the Dyson Ball Cleaner has a very deceiving name.

Carlos is part of a DHEC [South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental] group working with the Hispanic community in regard to healthcare. His team is part of a larger convention and will be having a panel discussion in May. In the lead up to the event, several people have been interviewing Carlos about his thoughts and ideas, and the other day we have this discussion:

“I have another Zoom interview tomorrow at 10AM. I really should start charging them.”

“Why would they pay you to talk to you?”

“They pay Bill Clinton. They pay Barack Obama.”

“They don’t pay Bill Obama.”

“Who’s Bill Obama?”

“Exactly.”

Took him a minute.

I’m fairly certain he gets it from me because I have been known to have that same look on my face from time to time.

SIDENOTE: After many months of not being able to sleep with his two Dads because the bed is too high and he can’t jump up, and I don’t like him jumping down from it lest he hurt his legs, we put an old step stool beside the bed and Tuxedo climbed right up and onto the bed. I woke up this morning, sleeping on my left side with Tuxedo sleeping on top of my right side, and one of his paws resting on my cheek.

Heaven.

Ginni Thomas, the QAnon wingnut wife of sexual harasser and Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, now admits she attended the January 6 rally but left before Thing 45 spoke and before her brethren attacked the Capitol because she got cold.

Fucking snowflake. But she also wants to make it clear that she “played no role [in the attack] … There are stories in the press suggesting I paid or arranged for buses. I did not. There are other stories saying I mediated feuding factions of leaders for that day. I did not.”

Funny, Ginni, if you’re so innocent, why it did it take you over a year to say one damned word?

In the words of our Immortal Anne Marie: FOAD.

Dejah Bennet, a 22-year-old mother is dead after being shot in an Illinois grocery store parking lot.

She was accidentally shot and killed when her 3-year-old boy got hold of a gun in the back seat of his parent’s car and it discharged, hitting his mother in the neck. The boy’s father, also present at the time, is in custody as police determine whether there are any charges to be filed against him.

Oh there should be.

Places I won’t travel to: Mother Russia and her stepchildren Texas and Florida and Tennessee … that’s all, for now.

Carlos hates to use the last of anything. They will be a paper-thin sliver of soap in the bathtub soapdish which he will continue to use, but he'll set out a new bar, still in the box, on the edge of the tub, for me to put out. We’ll be running low on toilet paper on the roll, and he’ll use one tiny square—he has squares to spare … extra points if you get that—and put a new roll on the back of the toilet for me to put on the spool.

The other morning, I said I was going to have fruit for breakfast. I made a delicious bowl of honeydew, banana and pineapple, and Carlos told me he’d saved some strawberries I’d gotten at the market if I wanted.

“Yes, please. Where are they?”

Second shelf from the bottom.”

I took the container of strawberries and, inside, rolling around all by its lonesome was one strawberry about the size of a pea that he had saved for me.

Bless.His.Heart.

All 133 Virginia public school superintendents have urged GOP and QAnon Governor Glenn Youngkin to scrap the “tip line” he set up to let parents snitch on teachers and principals, and have asked him to stop his campaign against the teaching of “divisive” content in schools.

It’s called history; it’s called facts. And trying to deny that is called White Fragility.

After expressing “concern” for Ukraine in its war against Russia, these 31 GOP Senators voted against an aid package for Ukraine:

Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, Tennessee ... John Boozman and Tom Cotton, Arkansas ... Mike Braun, Indiana ... Richard Burr and Thom Tillis, North Carolina ... Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, Louisiana ... Tom Cotton, Arkansas ... Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven, North Dakota ... Mike Crapo and James Risch, Idaho ... Ted Cruz, Texas ... Steve Daines, Montana ... Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse, Nebraska ... Josh Hawley, Missouri ... Ron Johnson, Wisconsin ... James Lankford, Oklahoma ... Mike Lee and Mitt Romney, Utah ... Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming ... Roger Marshall, Kansas ... Rand Paul, Kentucky ... Mike Rounds, South Dakota ... Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, Florida ... Tim Scott, South Carolina ... Dan Sullivan, Alaska ... Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania

Vote them all out. Cast a GODDAMNED vote.

Speaking of voting Blue, I need Democrats to stand up and speak up and speak out and remind this country that Russia and Putin have sanctioned many, many politicians in this country, and around the world, for their support of Ukraine and condemnation of Russia, but they have not sanctioned one single Republican.

Which means the GOP is the party of bombing hospitals and maternity wards and apartments complexes and people waiting in line for bread. The GOP condones the murder of innocent Ukrainians because Putin wants to swing his microdick around. The GOP and the rightwing media are being heralded in Russia as allies Of murder and mayhem.

Vote every one of them from office.

I don’t know … is it underwear as outerwear, cuz I’m getting garters out of this; or it  just plain strappy under wear? Either way, I’m intrigued ….

We began watching HBO’S The Gilded Age, created by Julian Fellowes who also gave us Downton Abby. But this one takes place in New York City as the nouveau riche start moving in the same circles as old money and a sort of one percent class struggle ensues. But enough of that, let’s talk men—clockwise from top left:

Blake Ritson is playboy, and perhaps gay boy, Oscar van Rhijn, the son of old money; Claybourne Elder is John Adams, with whom Oscar has a thing; Sullivan Jones plays a real person, T. Thomas Fortune, the editor of the New York Globe, a prominent Black newspaper; Ward Horton is Charles Fane, another son of old money; Morgan Spector is George Russell, the new money millionaire who built the monstrosity mansion on The Avenue; and Harry Richardson is Larry Russell, son of George Russell.

Which One[s] Would You Hit?

I Didn't Say It

Glenn Youngkin, Virginia Governor-elect, on his underage son who twice attempted to vote at the same location in the space of 20 minutes:

“It was silliness, I think. There’s real confusion on where a 17-year-old can vote or not. And so he had a friend who suggested that he might be able to vote. He went up and asked. I know my son is an incredibly respectful young man. He presented his ID and when they said he couldn’t vote, he said okay and he went to school. I am a little bit frustrated that the media is paying so much attention to it. It’s my 17-year-old son and I’d really like everyone to leave my family alone.”

Oh Glenn, you typical hypocritical lying Republican.

Your son tried to vote illegally twice, the second time after being told he wasn’t eligible to vote, so this ‘He didn’t know’ BS is just that. You’re setting quite the tone for your term as governor when you have family members trying to cheat the system and you attempt to ignore it.

photo

Howard Stern, on Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ Big Lie:

“If there was decency in this world, you know, I would throw this guy out of the football league so fast. What he did to his fellow teammates … this fucking guy, they should throw him out of the league so fast. We have no time for idiots in this country anymore. We don’t want you. We want you to all, either go to the hospital—stay home—die there with your Covid. Don’t take the cure, but don’t clog up our hospitals with your Covid when you finally get it. Stay home, don’t bother with science, it’s too late. Go fuck yourself, we just don’t have time for you.”

I feel like Howard. I’m over these fools, especially ones who lie and say they got the vaccine and then get COVID and admit they didn’t get it.

Fuck all the way off.

photo

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers quarterback and vaccine liar,  seeming to lie about his lie:

“I made some comments that people might have felt were misleading. I take full responsibility for those comments … I have a ton of empathy for people going through pandemic, lives lost and the lives forever changed.”

Misleading? Huh. You were asked if you had taken the vaccine and you said ‘Yes.” Where, the world asks, was the misleading part? Was it in the lie?

Rodgers then played the victim card and said he “just shared his point of view, and now he’s being crucified for it.” Again, Aaron, you aren’t Jesus  and you weren’t crucified or cancelled, you were called out for being a liar because you were caught in a lie.

Now, as I have been saying to a great many people this week, in the blogs, and in real life, ‘Get the fuck outta here.’

photo

Dennis Prager, conservative radio talk show host, comparing the way anti-vaxxers are treated and then lying about people with AIDS:

“If we survive this as a free country, historians will just ask, ‘How did this happen? How did people get governed by irrational fears? Whether it is of the non-vaccinated, who are the pariahs of America as I have not seen in my lifetime any pariah group like this. During the AIDS crisis, can you imagine if gay men and intravenous drug users, if had they been pariahs the way the non-vaccinated are?”

I guess Prager forgot the many AIDS patients who died because people feared touching them.

I guess he forgot the AIDS patients whose families kicked them out of their homes and disowned them.

I guess he forgot the conservatives who suggested AIDS patient be put into camps.

Side story: I know a man who was diagnosed with HIV way back in the 80s, and after the doctor gave him the diagnosis and said there really wasn’t much they could do, he got up to leave as the nurses came into the room and scrubbed the chair he sat in and the door knob he touched and tossed out the magazines he read in the waiting room, so Dennis Prager can fuck all the way off.

photo

Liz Cheney, Wyoming GOP Representative, calling the claims that the insurrection was a “false flag operation” perpetrated by liberals to stain Thing 45s presidency:

“It’s the same kind of thing that you hear from people who say that 9/11 was an inside job, for example. It’s un-American to be spreading those kinds of lies, and they are lies.”

Simply and direct. Lies. All of the GOP’s excuses: lies.

photo

Jenna Ryan, convicted Capitol rioter, after being sentenced today to 60 days in prison:

“I’m disappointed that I’m being used as an example in my incarceration. Because I’m a public person and I have a Twitter account, I’m being punished for that. Because the media was doing what y’all are doing right now, I’m being punished for this. And it’s actually causing my incarceration and I think that is a travesty. I think everybody should be able to tweet without being persecuted and treated like crap. So watch what you tweet, because if you tweet, you can go to jail. It’s a free county and I’m allowed to say—you know—it’s free speech.”

Sure, Jenna, you can say whatever you like, though there are consequences; just like consequences for breaking and entering into the Capitol building to overturn an election.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Jenna is not just a traitor, she is also a racist, because just a few months ago she said:

“Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I'm not going to jail. Sorry to rain on your hater parade.”

Another one who can fuck all the way off. Oh, and Jenna, that’s my Free Speech.
