Bobservations

Years ago shortly after moving into Casa Bob y Carlos, we went to a plant sale at the State Farmer’s Market site. We saw many plants we liked, though we weren’t looking for anything in particular, and Carlos spied the Popcorn Bush AKA Popcorn Viburnum. It was described as having flowers that looked like popcorn balls and Carlos wanted it.

It stood about a foot-and-a-half tall and Carlos told me the guy wanted $17 for it so he got one and headed to the checkout. Carlos misunderstand the price and it was actually $70 and he was too embarrassed to say ‘No,’ so we drove home with it.

Carlos planted it near the shed and didn’t like it there so he dug it up and replanted it along the fence so we could see it from the kitchen; he didn’t like it there either and was going to move it when I told him this was the last move so he’d better pick a good spot.

That’s the Popcorn bush today in its final spot in the yard just off the deck. I’d say we got our seventy bucks worth!

This Tale of Tuxedo is from March 2009:

I was on yard patrol today, raking leaves, bagging leaves, hauling bags across lawn to be put in the car and taken away. Tuxedo likes to sit in the window and watch. But then he gave me that Pouty Cat face when I came in because he isn't allowed to go outside. Then he decided to punish me for leaving him in the house while I was outside having "fun."

Note to self: Don't piss off the cat!

We had a great time at Columbia’s No Kings protest with more people in attendance than the last one—over 1500—and more Republicans out protesting too.

Keep it up, The Resistance is real!

After his second drunk driving crash, this time a rollover accident in which he flipped his car on a suburban street Tiger Woods has said the reason he has never used a private driver over the years is due to concerns over his privacy, never mind the people he might kill.

A source says Tiger “doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing” which may explain all the pills ALLEGEDLY found in the car and his new statement about going to rehab.

Well, rehab is to keep him out of jail, they say.

Dear Pam Bondi: Do you want a great new thing to investigate besides Epstein? I recommend Pete Hegseth’s insider trading. You’re welcome.

By now you’ve all heard that cosplay actor Kristi DogKiller Noem’s husband also like to play dress up … as a woman.

Now a rumor is circulating that the person who informed on Bryon Noem was an immigrant sex worker, possibly in the country illegally, who wanted to go public about Noem’s husband using her services online.

Noem has asked for privacy during this difficult time so I will give her as much privacy as she planned on giving trans Americans when she wanted them followed into bathrooms and arrested.

Payback is a bitch, eh?

Random Musings

This week the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a major ruling in Whitaker v. Kenosha Unified School District that transgender students are protected from discrimination under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.

Bam.Snap.

The court upheld the preliminary injunction, issued by a federal district court in September 2016, that has allowed Ash Whitaker, a senior at Tremper High School in the Kenosha Unified School District in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to use the boys’ restrooms at school throughout his senior year without fear of discipline or invasive surveillance by school officials. The court wrote:
“The School District has failed to provide any evidence of how the preliminary injunction will harm it, or any of its students or parents. . . . , whereas the harms to Ash are well-documented and supported by the record.”
Cuz, you know, he just wanted to pee.
“I am thrilled that the Seventh Circuit recognized my right to be treated as the boy that I am at school. After facing daily humiliation at school last year from being threatened with discipline and being constantly monitored by school staff just to use the bathroom, the district court’s injunction in September allowed me to be a typical senior in high school and to focus on my classes, after-school activities, applying to college, and building lasting friendships. As I look forward to college next year, I hope my case will help other transgender students in Kenosha and elsewhere to just be treated the same as everyone else without facing discrimination and harassment from school administrators.”—Ash Whitaker
The march goes on ...
Mexican lawyer Antonio Battaglia has created a new toilet paper, “_____ Paper” to benefit migrants and U.S. deportees now residing in his hometown of Guanajuato, Mexico.

Battaglia was angry about Donald Trump’s hate-filled campaign rhetoric on Mexicans, but, rather than give in to negativity, he turned creative to make it clear “that Mexicans are not ‘bad hombres.’”

Battaglia initially tried to register for a trademark in clothing or footwear, but the “_____” brand had already been registered for the items, so he came up with the idea for toilet paper .... The sanitary product will begin production at the end of this year, and distribution is planned throughout various Mexican groceries and supply chain groups.

So, you know, people can wipe their rumps with _____s.
And speaking of ... lotsa folks feel that _____ is mentally unfit to be President and suspicions that he perhaps suffers from a mental illness, or JPS—Just Plain Stupidity—are on the rise, and this story won’t help ...

In a recent video clip, a glassy-eyed _____ was captured wandering away from a meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for seemingly no reason at all, looking completely lost

. _____ suddenly left Netanyahu’s side, leaving the Prime Minister and all surrounding staff shocked and confused. In the clip you see ____ wander off, and a hand seems to guide him back to Netanyahu. He reappears looking completely lost and then shake’s Netanyahu’s hand.

The far-away look in Trump’s eyes is unsettling, to say the least, because even while some of us joke that he’s unfit, this looks very frightening.

And add to that the fact that he skipped events the next day for “exhaustion”?

Just sayin’.

So, a few months back I took Carlos clothes shopping for his birthday—the man will never buy clothes and still wears clothes from the 80’s ... the 1880s.

And this time he wanted a pair of white jeans and the stores we went to didn’t carry them; the salesman told him we should try stores on Columbia that have a larger supply, while I muttered something about not having a DeLorean and this isn’t Back to the Future and the Era of the White Jean.

Anyway, this past weekend we’re out running errands and Carlos spots an Old Navy and wants to check there for his white jeans. In we go and Voila! white jeans. He tries them on and then decides to get them and so we head to the checkout. In the line he finally looks at the price-tag and shrieked like a howler money:
“Forty-four dollars!??!”
I replied:
“Welcome to 2017, Marty McFly.”
Luckily the jeans were marked down to just $32 or we might have had another episode of Carlos not being able to breathe.
is back and so is their quintet of Hotties. The show is about a semi-smalltime crime family lead by the fabulous Ellen Barkin, who uses her sons to steal and rob so she doesn’t have to work and can like in her mid-century modern LA pad with a pool.

Her Hottie sons include coke-head Craig—Ben Robson—her grandson J—Finn Cole—her closeted son Deran—Jake Weary—her ‘adopted’ son Baz—Scott Speedman—and her jailbird paranoid son Pope—Shawn Hatosy.

It’s beefcake, I tell ya, beefcake.
Also whilst running errands we were listening to The Prairie Home Companion. As usual, their musical guest was a folk-country singer—the kind of music Carlos loathes—Brandi Carlile.

Now, I like some country-folk, especially when the lyrics are really good ... cuz I loves me some words ... and this song didn’t disappoint, especially in the lyric:
“There's one thing they don't tell about the blues when you got 'em, you keep on fallin' 'cause there ain't no bottom, and they're ain’t no end"
Loved that one, and loved that I discovered the song, “Red Dirt Girl [Lillian]” was written by a favorite of mine, Emmylou Harris.

But I’ll give you Brandi’s version from the show:

Kathy Griffin and the head .. I cut out the head in that photo.

Disgusting. A desperate attention grab by an attention-seeking whore who acts like she had no idea that holding up a mock severed head of another human being might be seen as idiotic.

It is; look, y’all know I have nothing but disgust for _____, but this is too far, too much.

And of course, the instant the shiz hit the fan and CNN fired her from the New Year’s Eve show—because Anderson Cooper wanted it done—and as soon as she lost another endorsement deal and some gigs were canceled, Kathy ran to Twitter to faux-pologize and beg forgiveness.
“I sincerely apologize…I’m a comic. I crossed the line. I moved the line, then I crossed it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career. I will continue. I asked your forgiveness. Taking down the image. Gonna ask the photographer to take down the image. And I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake, and I was wrong.”
Y’all know I love inappropriate humor but this was too far and even the apology was an attempt to stay in the spotlight.

Sorry Kathy, you blew it.
And speaking of celebrities apologizing...

Sorry, Tiger, but just because you were hopped up on pain meds and not drunk as hell makes no difference.

You could have killed someone driving like that and there is no excuse.

Sit down, and stay down.
This is rich ... Republican Congressman from California, Darrell Issa, actually stood on the roof of his district office this week as his protesting constituents gathered outside.

Issa reportedly came outside but refused to talk to the people who elected him, the people who pay his salary.

So this is the GOP ... The 1% Congressman hiding on the roof because his constituents are mad.

One way to fix that ... vote him out.
Oh hell no ....

There’s a good chance that we won’t be seeing a performance from Tony nominee Bette Midler at the 2017 Tony Awards next weekend.

Midler is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Hello, Dolly, which is nominated for ten awards. While it was expected that Bette would perform the title number, it seems like it’s no longer likely.

The producers of the musical reportedly want Bette and the cast to perform live from the Shubert Theatre, where the show is performed seven times a week, rather than at Radio City Music Hall and Tony producers have reportedly declined a remote performance.
Dolly co-star David Hyde Pierce may perform a solo number, with Bette presenting if she doesn’t perform.

Oh hell no ... do not make me storm the Great White Way.

Show-queens are a vicious lot, I tell ya!

I Follow God on Twitter and She's fabulous!

It's Snarkurday!

So last week it was confirmed that Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were no more, though it appears to have been over for a couple of months now because, ALLEGEDLY, Penn was “overly critical” of Theron — perhaps because she has a much more in-demand career — and that she was just plain over him.

So she simply stopped taking his calls. No text; no email … nothing.  And this kind of breakup apparently has its own name … go figure … and it’s called “ghosting.” But, whatever it’s called, it’s quite clear that Theron ended it and Sean is still getting a “Mailbox Full” message.

Well, look who is making news because, well, they haven’t been making news lately … not since her break-up with that Terminator boy.

Miley Cyrus — who revealed recently that she came out as bisexual to her family at 14 — is dating a woman, Victoria Secret model, Stella Maxwell because, well, publicity. Yawn.

Well well well … since she’s off probation, and doesn’t have a job, what is Lindsay Lohan to do? Give an interview with Hello! Magazine and say this:
“I can definitely see myself settling in London permanently.”
And when asked if she would apply for British citizenship, she replied:
“If you’ll have me, I will.”
Okay UK, she’s your problem now. Don’t even think about having her deported!

Tiger Woods got flayed. Not played … flayed … as in Bobby Flay!

Y’all probably know by now that Tiger — who just ended his relationship with Lindsey Vonn — choked big time during the first round of the US Open when he lost control of his club and sent it sailing through the air, right? Well, perhaps it was because a plane flew over with that same banner that flew over Bobby Flay’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony trailing a banner that read “Cheater.”

Ben Affleck better be careful … just sayin’.

Charlie Sheen is back in the news … yay!

He recently celebrated Father’s Day by calling Dennis Richards, the second of his three ex-wives — from whom he’s been divorced for ten years — a “despicable charlatan” and a “sack of landfill rash” during a hate-filled … and illiterate … Twitter rant so you know it’s the real Charlie:.
“Denise Richards is a shake down piece of s–t doosh phace & worst mom alive!”
“[A] despicable charlatan who sux ISIs ass!!!!
“[S]ee u in court you evil terrorist sack of landfill rash. this gangster Sheenius will be Winning! Duh!!”
Richards responded with her own tweet:
“Happy Dad’s Day! @charliesheen have a great trip in Mexico! Kids were disappointed u weren’t here for it-Hey we’ll celebrate when u r back!”
Looks more like Denise is winning.

This is the most highlarious thing EVER!!!!

Out there in Oakland California, on June 30, for a mere $40, you, too, can attend a lecture on the objectification of women given by a woman who made her name flat on her back, heels to Jesus, in a sex tape.

That’s right, y’all, Kim Kardastrophe is speaking at the Paramount Theatre about her “new book Selfish, the Kardashian/Jenner clan, the business of millennial culture, the objectification of women in media, and more.”

Seriously? And it’s being called … wait for it, because it sounds like there will be strippers … “Kim Kardashian West Live!”  I’d go, but first, before I plunk down forty bucks, I’d ask Kim Kardastrophe to spell “objectification.”

So, Amber Heard, that sexually fluid wannabe who recently hitched her wagon to Johnny Depp’s falling star, has a few choice words for the Australian officials who demanded Depp take his illegally-smuggled-into-the-country dogs out of Oz or else. She says the politics wanted their fifteen minutes of fame:
“I have a feeling we’re going to avoid the land Down Under from now on, just as much as we can, thanks to certain politicians there. I don’t know, I guess everyone tries to go for their 15 minutes, including some government officials.”
Or … maybe those politicos believe the law applies to everyone who visits their country, even a spoiled has been and his hanger-on.

Well, it looks like Diddy is one of those parents; the ones who rail at their son’s football coaches and, well, attack them with a kettlebell.

Only the son involved inst some ten-year-old and this wasn’t some Pop Warner football league. The son is Justin Combs, who is twenty-one and the coach is the coach of the UCLA football team and Diddy wasn’t happy that the coach berated his son for missing practice and not giving it his all so he attacked the man.

Lovely parenting Diddy. And now he’s been arrested, posted bail, and is facing felony assault charges, though I see a healthy donation to UCLA in their future and I also see charges dropped.

Money talks louder than a physical assault.

Conrad Hilton just can’t stay out of trouble these days.

In May, he reportedly turned himself into authorities in connection with a high-speed car chase resulting in wrecking his BMW last August. He was charged with felony reckless evading a police officer and was released on $100,000 bail.

Then this past Monday Conrad was arrested again for violating a restraining order protecting his ex-girlfriend, Hunter Solomon, after authorities found Conrad inside Solomon’s home.

And if this story needed to be any slimier, Hunter Salomon is the daughter of Rick Salomon, the guy who co-starred in Conrad’s sister, Paris Hilton’s sex tape.

Yes, he was schtupping the daughter of the man who schtupped his sister on film.

I need a Silkwood scrubdown.

And we’ll end with a celebrity who actually does something nice for someone other than themselves.

Chris Pratt, who visited children’s hospitals around the country last year in his Guardians of the Galaxy costume that he stole just for those occasions, is at it again.

He recently stopped in at Our Lady of Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and reenacted some of his Jurassic World scenes with, and for, the kids.

Chris Pratt really seems to be one of the good guys.

I Didn't Say It......

Ken Mehlman, on how bad he feels that eleven states passed anti-gay amendments in 2004:
"Look, I have a lot of friends who ask questions and who are angry about it. I understand that folks are angry, I don’t know that you can change the past. As I’ve said, one thing I regret a lot is the fact that I wasn’t in the position I am today where I was comfortable with this part of my life, where I was able to be an advocate against that [strategy] and able to be someone who argued against it. I can’t change that – it is something I wish I could and I can only try to be helpful in the future. But I understand the anger and I talk to friends about it – it’s something that I hear from a number of friends."
Hypocrite.
Self-loathing hypocritical asshat.
I understand being in the closet, but I don't understand working as hard as Ken Mehlman did against the LGBT community, and coming up with so many anti-gay measures and plans and campaigns as he did.
He wants forgiveness?
Well, Ken, maybe when you spend as much time, effort and money working for equality, I'll think about it.

Michael BloombergNYC Mayor, on the Islamic Community Center, 51 Park:
"But if we say that a mosque or a community center should not be built near the perimeter of the World Trade Center site, we would compromise our commitment to fighting terror with freedom. We would undercut the values and principles that so many heroes died protecting. We would feed the false impressions that some Americans have about Muslims. We would send a signal around the world that Muslim Americans may be equal in the eyes of the law, but separate in the eyes of their countrymen. And we would hand a valuable propaganda tool to terrorist recruiters, who spread the fallacy that America is at war with Islam."
Religious Freedom applies to all religions, not just the ones pandered to by mindless Republican fucktards like Beck, Gingrich and Palin.

Jonathan Groff, on being gay and coming out to his parents:
"When I wanted to be an actor, my dad understood it, as he has his passion for horses. And the interesting thing about coming out is that everyone in their life – gay or straight – in a way comes out. Like debutantes, they have a coming out, saying, 'Look, this is who I am'."
Perhaps Ken Mehlman should have taken a page from Groff's Handbook.
It doesn't have to be self-loathing and hate, it can be a process that everyone goes through, in finding your true self.
Gay or straight, we all have closets we need to exit.

Drew Barrymore, telling one reporter about another reporter, while promoting her new movie, Going The Distance:
"You should have heard this bitch I had to do an interview with before you. God, I wanted to punch her, she would just not drop the youth thing. I have no problem talking about it. I am not someone who is ashamed of my past. I'm actually really proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but they in turn were my life lessons. It's actually good to get it done young and have a great life later. But yeah, man, I wanted to rip this woman's face off. She just would not shut up about it."
What happened to the Peace Drew?
The Love and Light Drew?

Kelly Bensimon, wackadoo from The Real Housewives of New York, on Danielle Staub, of The Real Mafia Wives Of New Jersey:
"If Danielle gets her own spinoff, I think that’d be amazing for her. She makes for great TV. She’s out of the box and has no inhibitions. It’s not my place to say whether someone has issues or not. I will say she has a lot of fun with what she’s doing. I don’t know what her real life is like, but I honestly don’t think that she’s well matched against the rest of that cast for that show. Still, she definitely is fun to watch. I love seeing her. She has no limitations and that’s great."
Plus, she's no Bethenny

Tiger Woods, on his ex-wife Elin's interview in People:
"This is a very painful, personal and private time for our family. Throughout this entire time, Elin has shown unwavering concern and support for our children. She is a wonderful mother. I know that the two of us will do everything we can to help our children adjust to this new family situation. We both cherish the time we can spend with Sam and Charlie. Whether it's taking Sam to school or hitting balls with Charlie on the range, nothing gives me more enjoyment than these simple pleasures. We have two special kids, and I'm going to enjoy every minute with them. Personally, I am learning to balance family and golf. My children come first and always will, but I also appreciate golf more than ever. I understand how important the fans and the game are to me. I know how lucky I am to do what I do for a living, and I am deeply grateful for everyone who has supported me."
Oh Tiger, it always comes back to golf.
I know you've given Elin a good chunk of your billions, but you still have enough left where you can retire and just be a good father to your kids. Be a good example to your kids.

Carl PaladinoNew York Republican gubernatorial candidate on how the state's poor should be
housed in prisons for their own betterment:
"Instead of handing out the welfare checks, we'll teach people how to earn their check. We'll teach them personal hygiene ... the personal things they don't get when they come from dysfunctional homes. These are beautiful properties with basketball courts, bathroom facilities, toilet facilities. Many young people would love to get the hell out of cities. You have to teach them basic things — taking care of themselves, physical fitness. In their dysfunctional environment, they never learned these things."
I, for one, would like to see Carl Paladino housed in prison for a while, and then hear him tell us all how nice it is, with sports courts and toilets for him to use.
Typical Republican non-thinking asshat.

Mary Bale, on throwing a cat into a trash bin:
"I want to take this opportunity to apologize profusely for the upset and distress that my actions have caused. I cannot explain why I did this, it is completely out of character and I certainly did not intend to cause any distress to Lola or her owners. It was a split second of misjudgment that has got completely out of control. I don't know what the fuss is about. It's just a cat. I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I never thought it would be trapped, I expected it to wriggle out. I don't know what my relatives will think but to be honest I think everyone is overreacting a bit."
Overreacting to taking a live creature and tossing it into the garbage?
I think Mary Bale needs to spend some time in a dumpster.
A long time.

I Ain't One To Gossip, But......

ESPN's Pardon the Interruption co-host, and clueless moron, Tony Kornheiser made some rather downright insulting comments regarding SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm and her wardrobe.
On.The.Air.
"She was wearing a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She's got on red go-go boots and a Catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. She's got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won't … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing?"
So, the "sports" guy morphed into Mister Blackwell, and took his comments to the airwaves. And, as is par for the course in these cases where people open their yaps before thinking, Kornheiser apologized for his insulting comments:
"I was wrong. This is sort of what I do, and I'm sorry for it. … Not the first time and won't be the last time, but I apologize for it this time."
His backhanded apology wasn't good enough for ESPN and they suspended him indefinitely.
Good for ESPN.
Sting released a new CD this past year, but he really hasn't toured much since The Police Reunion Tour of 2008.
Now, however, he is planning a world tour this summer, playing all of his music, reworked for the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. The tour begins June 2nd in North America, and a UK leg is set to follow.
In a statement, Sting said:"I'm delighted by this new opportunity to tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and reinterpret the songs I've been playing for many years."
I will be looking for, and hoping, that the tour comes somewhere near Smallville, even in a neighboring state. I am a huge fan of his music, and, well, in the interests of open dialogue, I once stalked Sting up and down the West Coast, seeing him in concert eight times in nine days, everywhere from Los Angeles to Seattle.
Don't judge.
After saying he wouldn't, because he doesn't have any sort of substance abuse issues ::::any more:::: Charlie Sheen has checked himself into rehab for alcohol and cocaine.
But, not, however, the same rehab facility where his current wife, Brooke Mueller, is seeking treatment for her crack habit. This is ::::allegedly:::: Brook's first trip through rehab, and Charlie's third.
People close to him, say he's seeking help because: “He loves his children and ultimately that’s what convinced him to get help.”
Hmm, love your children, but cannot give up the coke'n'booze; and then mom has her own crack troubles. Lovely set of parents for those children.
Charlie, while in rehab, is apparently trying to re-negotiate his contract with his mindnumbingly dumb TV show Two and a Half Men, because, well, rehab, and maybe another divorce, cost money.
In a case of crazy meets crazy, Paula Abdul will film a pilot for Oprah Winfrey's I-Have-More-Money-And-More-Cake-Than-God-Network, I mean, OWN.
Paula would be doing a daily talk show--who told Paula she could talk--in the vein of the old Oprah show, with celebrity guests and inspirational tales.
Seriously, this is the craziest thing ever.
Paula hasn't strung a coherent sentence together since 1984, and Oprah thinks she can have a talk show?
People wonder, though, if Paula's talk show--I laugh just typing it--takes off, will she still do the American X-Factor show with Simon Cowell, and Paula answers, "If Ellen DeGeneres can do it…so can I!"
Honey? You're no Ellen.
You're Paula Crazy Abdul.
I smell a trainwreck.
Evgeni Plushenko is a sore loser. An asshat of epic proportions.
Since losing the Gold medal at the Vancouver Olympics to American Evan Lysacek, Evgeni Plushenko has gone on a tear about how he was robbed and he's the better skater and he does a quad and ::::blibbety blah blay blue:::: get over it.
Now, it seems that Evgeni and his webmasters have created a website where he declares that he won, and this is so funny it's stupid, the ::::ooooooh aaaaaaah:::: Platinum Medal.
Do you see what he's doing there? Platinum is much more precious than either Silver or Gold, so he's rewriting Olympic history to say that was the winner, going so far as to create a medal category that doesn't exist.
Poor Evgeni Plushenko.
You can change the name, dear, but you're still a big pile of Number Two.
Lorenzo Lamas, hasbeen TV actor from the early 1980s, is apparently taking a page out of Charlie Sheen's book. Not the cocaine and booze page, but the serial groom page.
Seems, La Lamas, fifty-two years, um, young, is getting married again, for the fifth time, to his 23 year-old girlfriend of three months, Shawna Craig.
Good thing The Gays can't marry and the Straights can do it again and again and again and again and again.
I bet they have loads in common. For instance, she probably went to high school with a few of his six children. And, though she wasn't born yet, she can catch up with Lorenzo from his days on Falcon Crest in the 80s.
Good luck to these two crazy kids!
Tiger Woods is pissed at PETA.Not because he's a fur-wearing starlet, but because of a proposed billboard PETA wants to us.
It's clever, but Tiger ain't laughing. His lawyers, already working overtime on other issues, have contacted PETA and the animal rights group seems to be backing up:
"In light of conversations we have had with Mr. Woods' attorneys, plans to run our billboard are on hold at this time."
I think it's funny.
