Bobservations

Our friends—Roger and Thomas—are members of a private club in Smallville called Springdale Hall. It’s mostly a place to have dinner and drinks but is very exclusive. We have eaten there a couple of times as Roger and Thomas’s guests, but it’s definitely not our kind of place; too frou-frou, too hoity toity, too from another era, and not a good one.

Last week my boss—also not a member but desperate to be one—told me how people join Springdale Hall. First, you have to be recommended by three members, and, if that happens, you are invited to Springdale for a cocktail party where you are introduced to the members, who then vote on whether or not you are the right kind of people. But here’s the best[?] part: The club puts your name on the wall and the members sign the wall ‘Yes’ or ‘No,’ and can actually write a reason why they vote ‘No.’

I came home and told Carlos all about this mess and he said:

“I’m a nearly blind, disabled, homosexual Mexican …”

“Great! Now we’ll never get in!!”

And we’re both good with that, though I’d love to see what people would write on the walls about us!

Tuxedo is also overjoyed at the idea that, somewhere in Mar-a-Lago, Thing #45 is throwing an epic hissy fit.

Former Vice President Michael Elizabeth Pence underwent surgery to have a pacemaker implanted after experiencing “symptoms associated with a slow heart rate.”

Funny, I didn’t think he had a heart, or if he did, Mother kept it in a velvet bag in her jewelry box alongside his balls.

Did you hear about the two women—Amanda McCormick and Linda Johnson—who used a fake $1 million bill to purchases a few items at a Tennessee Dollar General store?

Yes, they did. McCormick says she received the “bill” from a church and decided to use it at Dollar General to buy things for care packages for homeless individuals.

Perhaps, she might have used it to get herself some mental help.

SIDENOTE: These white women were not arrested, not handcuffed, not held down by three cops, ,and didn’t have another officer kneel on their necks until they were dead because … white.

Another Carlos tidbit … you know, because I’ve told you, that he is in Spice Jail for excessive usage of spices in his cooking, resulting in his husband’s stomach being all sorts of flip-floppy and gross. And he has been better at limiting his spice usage, but …

The other night he made dinner. Grilled Pork Chops and Mashed Potatoes with Scallions and Kalamata Olives, and Sauteed Vegetables. He served dinner and it looked delicious; the pork was juicy and flavorful; the mashed potatoes were wonderful; the veggies … ?

Oh, the veggies. He’d made a mix of onion, peppers, mushrooms, asparagus tips and, what I thought was zucchini. It was not zucchini; it was cucumber; he … cooked … cucumber. Let that sink in … he … cooked … cucumber. And, because he thought the veggies needed a little zing, he opened a jar of pepperoncini’s and poured the brine into the veggies.

Yes. He did. I am signing him up for cooking classes before he kills me.

PS I have heard that you can cook cucumbers, but that doesn’t mean you should,

A herd of breeding elephants trampled a suspected poacher to death while he tried to flee from South African park rangers.

Karma. I love her.

More Karma … after saying last week that COVID-19 was no big deal because no one ever quarantined for COVIDS one through eighteen, asshat, wingnut, moron Ted Nugent tested positive for COVID-19.

Of course, because he’s a racist asshat, he called it the “Chinese s–t.” One can only imagine how sick he might have gotten if he’d had any of the first eighteen COVIDS.

And finally we have Danilo d'Agostino, an Instagram ‘star’ and model from Turin, Italy who is also a pianist and inspiring actor. Yes, he took his Instagram account, where he posted pictures of himself, as some people do, and turned it into a rather lucrative modeling contract, so, you see, Instagram can be used for good.

Bobservations

The other day I was getting ready to take a shower and Carlos came into the bathroom asking if there was someone at the front door. Now, before you think our front door opens into the bathroom, it does not, and I explained that to Carlos. But he said the cats had scattered as they sometimes do when someone rings the bell.

Did someone ring the bell?”

“No.”

“But you think that I know, here in the bathroom, at the back of the house,  if there’s someone at the door?”

I followed him to the front door and he’s looking through the glass to see if he spots anyone. I’m behind him, and it’s me who spots … something.

We have a wreath on the door and as I glanced beyond it, I saw a snake slithering up the glass and inside the wreath. I said to Carlos:

“Maybe that snake rang to bell.”

Howler monkey scream!!!!!

Once I peeled him off the ceiling, I told him I’d take the wreath off the door and put it away so that these snakes don’t think it’s food and climb the door. And he put the kibosh on that because the snake will kill me because snakes slither so fast and you can’t get away and it’ll come in the house and … and … and ….

I had to sedate him; with a frying pan to the melon.

What? Y’all know Tuxedo has the Common Sense. It’s a shame the two-legged inhabitants of the planet don’t always follow his lead.

Seen along the roads in Florida:

“Matt Gaetz Wants to ‘Date’ Your Child.”

Claude Taylor, Mad Dog PAC founder, funded the billboard and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving asshat.

For the past couple of weeks Aaron Rodgers has been the guest host of Jeopardy. At times he seems a bit tentative, but he sure is easy on the eyes.

Texas GQP Party chairman Allen West says Texas could secede from the United States and become an independent country:

“This is something that was written into the Texas Constitution.”

West is mistaking the state constitution for a congressional document which allows Texas to divide itself into five different states. But let’s say Texas does secede, as asshat politicians like to threaten. No more Ted Cruz. No more Louie Gohmert … Greg Abbott. The next time a bad hurricane comes through, or the power goes out, they’re on their own.

Secede away!

In an Economist/YouGov Poll released this week, respondents were asked if they believed Derek Chauvin should be found guilty of murder.

Among all respondents, 57% said “Yes,” with 25% saying they were “Not sure,: and 18% saying “No.” But among Republicans, only 31% said Chauvin should be found guilty, and 36% said he should not.

Now, again, I am not saying that all Republicans are racist, but this makes it look like all racists are Republicans.

PS Look closely at the above picture in case you didn't see it the first time.

Kentucky Governor, and Democrat, because, of course, Andy Beshear signed into law an election reform bill making it easier for Kentuckians to vote early, bucking the GQP trend of more restrictive election laws spurred on by The Big Lie:

New in Kentucky will be voting supercenters—where a voter from any precinct in the county can vote—and the online absentee ballot request portal will become permanent, as will absentee ballot drop boxes and three days of early in-person voting for all registered voters.

It’s nice to see some states in the country making voting easier.

SIDENOTE: Andy’s kinda cute, no?

I don’t particularly care for Will Smith, but I like this.

Smith and director Antoine Fuqua are pulling their upcoming film production “Emancipation” out of Georgia because of the state’s new voting law, AKA Jim Crow 2.0.

Now, Marvel and Netflix? Are you gonna pump money into a state that tried to suppress the vote or are you gonna step up?

In November 2020, two years after Taylor Swift’s contract with Big Machine Records expired, so did her re-record clause.

And so Swift is now going to re-record every song from the six albums she released while at Big Machine meaning that those of you who bought them the first time can now buy the re-recorded versions and Swift can fill her change purse with more coins.

Ted Nugent, MAGAt rocker with no active brain cells, asked a question about the COVID-19 pandemic that possibly nobody else had considered … except Cryptkeeper Kellyanne Conway:

“Why weren’t we shut down for COVID one through 18?”

Um, Ted, perhaps the years of drug use and lack of education have left you unable comprehend that the ‘19’ in COVID-19 designates the year in which the first infection was reported.

2019, dumbass.

This week’s Hottie is not an actor or a model, but a writer, activist, and perhaps a candidate for governor of Maryland, Westley "Wes" Watende Omari Moore.

That smile. Those eyes. That voice. That passion. That drive. Wes Moore? Yes, more.

Ted Nugent Is A Pig

Google it, you’ll see.

He’s a man who has said hateful, racist and threatening things about the President; he’s a man who sh*t so he wouldn’t have to go to Vietnam; he’s a man who married a teenage girl — of whom he was the legal guardian — so he could have sex with her; he’s a man who called for the execution of Democrats and the President of the United States; a man who has made racist comment after racist comment.

I don’t know why anyone would want to hear him perform, much less open his yap to speak, but apparently a group of Idaho Native Americans hired him to give a concert at the Coeur D’Alene Casino but then cancelled after doing one of those quick Google searches and finding out just who Nugent is; a man who doesn’t take well to people cancelling his paycheck because he’s a liar and a racist and an asshat; a man who said this, about Native Americans, after his show was cancelled:
“I take it as a badge of honor that such unclean vermin are upset by me and my positive energy. By all indicators, I don’t think they actually qualify as people, but there has always been a lunatic fringe of hateful, rotten, dishonest people that hate happy, successful people.”
Don’t qualify as people; the original inhabitants of this country don’t qualify as people?

But what shows the irony and the hypocrisy of Ted Nugent is that he was more than willing to take money from the so-called “vermin” and cash their check, but as soon as they heard all the hateful things he’s said, and told him to stay home, suddenly he’s very clearly against them in every possible way.

Of course, isn’t the first time Nugent has been stopped from performing in concert. Earlier this year, a town in Texas actually paid him $16,000 not to perform after they learned what a horrible, hate-filled, lying, draft-dodging, pants-crapping, child-f**king Teabagging, violet asshat he is; and I think that town in Texas feels that the 16K was money well-spent.

And I imagine that now that Nugent has spewed his filth about the Native American population in the country, he’ll be losing more venues and more concerts.

Win.Win.

Random Musings

We are still in the throes of Powder Room Remodel 2014, but here are some more pictures of the progress.

Next up, priming the walls, and then a painstakingly detailed man’s suit style pin-striping of the walls, some new tile that looks like burlap, and then the installation of all new fixtures, top to bottom.

It’s a process.
Sad news to report....

White Collar, the hit USA series starring Matt Bomer, my Husband-In-My-Head, and openly gay sex bomb, is going to end after the upcoming sixth season. The six episode final season will pick up after last season's cliffhanger that saw Matt‘s character Neal Caffrey get abducted.

All I can say is: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Is anyone else over this MH 370 story about the missing Malaysian flight? I mean, I like the news, I want to know what happened, but seriously, this is not an all-day, every-day news story, especially when the reports are nothing new, or news. Seriously? A black hole swallowed the plane?

Now it seems like there is a credible lead on the missing plane, but I imagine this will spin out of control, too. Don't give me conjecture, give me news; and if there's no new news, then zip it!
Poor Ted Nugent. Even people in Texas find him too offensive.

He might be something of a folk hero among the far far right, particularly in wack-a-doo red states, especially places like Texas, but it ain’t necessarily so.

The city of Longview, Texas has canceled Nugent's scheduled performance for their second annual Fourth of July Festival and has said they will eat the $16,000 fee they paid to Nugent to ensure that he wouldn’t come to town.

Snap.
Oh, the Drag Race!

This week was the reappearance of one of my favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race episodes, Snatch Game, a take-off on some old-timey game show called Match Game with the queens impersonating celebrities. As for the catwalk, the queens had to create a look inspired by none other than Mama Ru. It could have been good, and it could have been bad — it was actually a bit of both — so let’s dish …

#1 [again!] BenDeLaCreme. I loved how, when telling Ru that she would be doing Maggie Smith circa Downton Abby, she played like she didn’t think about the English accent, or how to make the Dowager Countess funny. Her response to the questions and to the other queens was faboosh and funny and spot on: when questioned by another queen that she didn’t understand English, BenDeLaCreme-Maggie-Smith-Dowager-Countess sniffed, We originated the language.
Brazilliant, and BenDeLaCreme gets her second win!

#2 Adore Delano, if only for her spot-on Anna Nicole Smith impersonation. My favorite was her spelling of “vodcah.” On the runway though, she was less Ru and more Adore, and kinda Anna Nicole, in a big blond wig.

#3 I loved Bianca Del Rio’s Judge Judy because, like Ru and Bianca, I watch me some Judy every day. Bianca had the catchphrases and she even had a Bird the Bailiff puppet that nearly made me spit-take! And I love Bianca for taking down some of the other girls a notch or two with her quick wit; I do loves me some sarcasm, amirite? But, I didn’t get a lot of Ru on the runway from Bianca, so she gets points off for that.

#4 I’ll give Joslyn Fox points for really channeling Real Housewives Teresa-of-the-One-head [instead of a forehead? Get it? I’ll stop.] I also laughed out loud—and no, I won’t say LOL’d—when she said, "prostitution whoreses!" And she was one of the few who Ru’d the runway to a T.

Onto the not so successful….

I like me some Darienne Lake but she looked less like Paula Deen than I do. Some of her jokes were cute, but cute don’t win Snatch. And, well, she isn’t Ru, ever. Courtney Act’s Fran Drescher was a snooze. Where was the Drescher laugh? And the wig was the wrong one. Milk … ah Milk … her Julia Child was one-note and it was flat. But, while some people were miffed that her Runway Ru was Boy Ru, I thought it was a shockingly good choice. But I get the “That’s not a drag queen” sentiment.

Let’s toss in Trinity K. Bonet’s Nicki Minaj. Not funny. Just because you slap on pin k hair doesn’t make you Nicki; the voice wasn’t there, and the funny wasn’t either. She blew a perfectly good chance for a Mariah joke. Sad. And Laganja Estranja’s Rachel Zoe? Rachel No! It was so bad; didn’t sound like her or look like her.

Luckily for Laganja, Gia Gunn’s Kim K was awful—though I imagine her original choice of murdered pop star Selena might have tanked far worse. She didn’t hit Kim at all, and on the runway she was wonky-eyed and sloppy.
Sashay away.

What did YOU think?
You gotta love Ellen Page.

In response to reading a Tweet from fill-in-the-blank anti-gay pastor saying that Page didn’t really “believe” she was gay and was struggling with it, and that she needed to embrace God, Page Tweeted this response:

Ooh yes!
One of the great worries about rebuilding the WTC after 9/11 was security and there were all kinds of promises about a so-called "ring of steel" around 1 World Trade Center.

Yeah. Not so much.

Justin Casquejo, a sixteen-year-old New Jersey teen, snuck out of his home one night, crawled through a hole in a Ground Zero fence, got a lift up the tower from a clueless union elevator operator — even though he had no ID — to the 88th floor, hiked the stairs up to the 104th floor and scurried past the "ring of steel" — actually a sleeping guard — to climb to the top of the spire at the top of the building.

After spending two hours atop the nation’s tallest building snapping photos, Casquejo was finally caught by a construction worker as he made his way back down. He has been charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

The sleeping guard has been fired.
And now, in the "What Were They Thinking" segment ...

Two CNN producers, Yonatan Pomrenze and Connor Fieldman Boals, also tried to breach security at the WTC in broad daylight and were arrested.

The two men were seen repeatedly trying to get into the building, presumably trying to test the security at the site after two recent incidents in which a teen broke in at night and climbed to the top, and three BASE jumpers and an accomplice made a daredevil skydive from the tower.

A CNN spokesperson said Boals and Pomrenze 'were not asked to sneak onto the World Trade Center site.'"

But you just know that footage would have aired on the network if they had been successful.
Last year I started to watch Da Vinci's Demons on the Starz channel. It was colossally stupid and badly written and acted, save for the delightfully evil, and devilishly sexy Blake Ritson as Count Riario.

When I heard the show was coming back I didn't even bother to set the DVR, until I learned that the producers of the show had seen what an asset Ritson was to the show and have enlarged his role.

And so I'm watching. And, while searching for a picture of Ritson, I came across this one which made me see why I find him so handsome ... he looks like Carlos' long-lost brother.

On the other side of the TV screen, we have Mixology, a show which got off to a wonderfully madcap start and then failed to live up to that promise.

But, it does have one redeeming quality: the beautiful Craig Frank. Very cute, very sexy, hot smile.

Sadly, I don't think his show will last.
What the %#&%@*!&#?????

The Christian relief agency World Vision announced that it will hire Christians who are in same-sex marriages.

Baby Jeebus say what? Richard Stearns, president of World Vision, a humanitarian-relief group, announced the hiring change for the United States in a letter to staff. Stearns said the World Vision board had prayed for years about how to handle the issue as Christian denominations took different stands on recognizing same-sex relationships:

“I want to reassure you that we are not sliding down some slippery slope of compromise, nor are we diminishing the authority of Scripture in our work. We are the same World Vision you have always believed in.”

Except we just wanna get some married gays up in here now ... but then ...

UPDATE: Less than 48 hours after that announcement, World Vision crumbled in the face of vicious condemnation and boycott demands from anti-gay hate groups and major evangelical denominations.

No married gays, ever!
Suddenly Seeking Attention.

After last week's Instagram photo of Madonna cleaning her shower with her tongue, she decided to post a picture of her hairy armpit for the world to see.

Keep in mind, she's somebody's mother, and not merely an attention-seeking fame-whore.

Random Musings

I’ve said it before: I am an Awards Show Whore™. I love ‘em all—well, for the most part … I think there are far too many country music awards and the Kid’s Choice? Oh honey, no—but I love a good show and a good host; or hosts.

And so this is why I was rolling out the red carpet to the news that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler — who killed at The Golden Globes last year — will be back hosting in 2014 and again in 2015.

I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl!

Ted Nugent, faded rock star, gun nut, Teabagger and serial baby-maker has said he might run for President.

His own proposed campaign slogan — and this is real y’all … it came straight from Nugent’s ever-running piehole:
“Hi, I’m Ted Nugent. I have nine children from seven women and I’m running for president.”
He really just ought to run for sperm donor. On second thought …. Ick.

Greg Louganis traded his Olympic Gold Medals for a band of gold.

He’s married. Greg married his partner, the adorably hot Johnny Chaillot last week in Malibu:
"It was amazing because I have so many people from all facets of my life here tonight and they are all here and celebrating it is all wonderful, I already feel different. The ceremony was so reflective and representative of who we are."
The two men — and it’s still a rush to say “the two men” when speaking of newlyweds — are asking for donations to charities like the Human Rights Campaign and Mending Kids International, in lieu of a traditional wedding registry:
"We are both in our mid fifties and don't need another blender so we really wanted to give back."—Johnny Chaillot
Congrats to the happy, cute couple.

I loves me some Nashville, even before they added the closeted gay country star played by hottie-in-tight-jeans Chris Carmack.

That show really plays to its gay audience with some of the hottest men around, like …
Michiel Huisman , who plays Liam, the renegade record producer and Rayna’s new love interest, and blond beauty Charlie Bewley, who joined the show last week as Juliette’s new love interest.

I’m also interested.

In other same-sex wedding news …

Indiana's first openly gay countywide official, Zach Adamson, will be making history once more by marrying his longtime partner Christian Mosburg in Washington D.C. this week.
"It's important that people see this doesn't have to be the wedge issue or the divisive issue that it is often portrayed as. We are just doing what other people do."—Zach Adamson
He added that the positive reception he and Christian have received as an engaged, same-sex couple “speaks to how far we've come."

We’ve still got a way to go, but each couple that married breaks down the walls.

Congrats.

What’s this, North Dakota? You now have a tax form for married same-sex couples even though you don’t recognize such marriages?

Well, since the IRS announced in August that it would allow same-sex couples to file as married couples if they were legally married in a state that allows such marriages, even if they live in a state that doesn’t, North Dakota saw that as a problem.

But Lorie Bowker, of the North Dakota tax department, says the answer lies in a new form: ND-1S, which allows for the divvying up a couple’s federal tax filing so they can file as individuals in North Dakota.

Bowker said, like the federal government, there is a “marriage penalty” built into the North Dakota tax code, so filing as individuals could be beneficial to same-sex couples who would then save on their tax debt.

All well and good, but some advocates for same-sex marriage say the discrepancy between federal and state tax filings could be grounds for lawsuits based on the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution.

And that would mean … channeling Oprah … Everyone gets a marriage. You get a marriage! And you get a marriage!

So, the new TV season is basically in full swing, although I am awaiting the return of Grimm — with the delicious David Giuntoli — and the start of Dracula — with the oozing with sex appeal Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Loving:  AHS: Coven.
Also loving: The Crazy Ones, especially the adorable, and funny, James Wolk.
Liking ... for now: Sean Saves The World.
Beginning to loathe: Trophy Wife and Hostages
Annoyed: It took three weeks to bring Brody back to Homeland, and then when the episode aired it was dull, dull, and dull.

And you? What do you love, like or loathe?

File this under It’s About Freakin’ Time:

The Harvey Milk Foundation has announced that the United States Postal Service will issue a stamp in honor of LGBT political icon Harvey Milk.

This makes Harvey Milk, who made history as the first openly gay man to win political office in California when he was elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors in 1977, the first openly LGBT official ever featured on U.S. postage.
“Harvey Milk’s legacy is alive and well. His historic run paved the way for a new generation of LGBT leaders who can be open and honest about who they are, and it’s encouraging to see the U.S. Postal Service honoring his legacy of perseverance and pride today.”— Chuck Wolfe, President and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute
The stamp is expected to be introduced in 2014, and though I rarely snail mail any more, you can bet I’ll be lignin up for the stamps and whatever else I can get.

It’s about time an LGBT icon and hero was recognized.

The Houston Chronicle has come out and apologized for endorsing Ted Cruz for political office in light of Cruz’s recent descent into egomaniacal insanity:
Does anyone else miss Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison? We're not sure how much difference one person could make in the toxic, chaotic, hyperpartisan atmosphere in Washington, but if we could choose just one it would be Hutchison, whose years of service in the Senate were marked by two things sorely lacking in her successor, Ted Cruz. When we endorsed Ted Cruz in last November's general election, we did so with many reservations and at least one specific recommendation - that he follow Hutchison's example in his conduct as a senator. Obviously, he has not done so. Cruz has been part of the problem in specific situations where Hutchison would have been part of the solution. We feel certain she would have worked shoulder to shoulder with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in crafting a workable solution that likely would have avoided the government shutdown altogether. But we'll never know.
Suh-nap!
