This Is The GOP & Why You Need To Vote Blue

There are a lot of reasons to vote Blue in November, and I will share some of those with you, but first, let’s take a look at the reason to Vote Blue.

Project 2025 

Under a GOP president this plan, would:

• Eliminate the Department of Education
• Use public funds to pay for private religious schools
• Encourage Christian indoctrination in public schools … Ten Commandments in every classroom was the start.
• Dismantle Civil Rights and DEI [Diversity, equity, and inclusion] in all levels of government.
• Eliminate no fault divorce.
• Total ban on abortions, regardless of viability or health of the mother.
• Ban all contraceptives.
• Ban African American and Gender Studies in all levels of education.
• Tax cuts for major corporations and the 1% while increasing taxes on everyone else.
• Eliminate unions and all worker protection
• Raise the retirement age.
• Eliminate Social Security for the elderly and the disabled.
• Promote capital punishment and the speedy “finality” of such sentences
• Condemn single mothers and only recognize “traditional” families by overturning Obergefell v Hodges in attempts to eliminate the LGBTQ+ community.
• Dismantle the FBI and Homeland Security.
• Use of military to break up protests
• Eliminate Head Start and Free/Discounted school lunch programs
• Ban books and curriculum regarding slavery.
• Force immigrants to be deported or held in camps and end birth right citizenship
• Ban Muslims from entering the country
• Dismantle the Food and Drug Administration [FDA]. The Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [NOAA] and more.

This is the plan of the GOP and we know it’s the plan because The Felon says it’s not their plan and he’s a pathological liar. Here’s more:

THE FELON

Top advisers to The Felon have begun to discuss draft language for the 2024 Republican platform that antiabortion leaders expect will abandon the party’s decades-long call to amend the US Constitution to extend personhood protections to the unborn.

The escalating behind-the-scenes disagreement over the abortion language has become so acrimonious in recent weeks that some social conservative leaders have issued public warnings. The Felon’s advisers, in turn, have been angered by the public pressure from antiabortion activists.

Listen, the man is a pathological liar who promised to appoint anti-choice judges to the Supreme Court and then did that; and when they each, after first saying under oath that Roe was settled law, overturned a woman’s right to choose.

Do not believe The Felon; he’s saying these things to get women to vote for him and most women are smarter than that.

The Felon also revived one of his go-to lies about his record on veteran policy during a Fourth of July message to supporters this week.

Veterans Choice, a program that allows veterans experiencing long wait times in the V.A. medical system to seek care at private facilities, was actually signed into law by former President Barack Obama in 2014.

NORTH CAROLINA

Mark Robinson, the extremist GOP nominee for governor apparently endorsed political violence in a bizarre and extended rant delivered in a small-town church:

“Some folks need killing! It’s time for somebody to say it. It’s not a matter of vengeance. It’s not a matter of being mean or spiteful. It’s a matter of necessity!”

Robinson’s call for the “killing” of “some folks” came during an extended diatribe in which he attacked an extraordinary assortment of enemies, like Democrats and liberals, the LGBTQ+ community and migrants.

Kill them, he said.

OKLAHOMA

Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters says educators who refuse to teach students about the Bible could lose their teaching license.

Walters issued a memo last week instructing all Oklahoma schools to teach students in grades five through 12 about the Bible’s influence on the nation’s founding and historical American figures. Schools will also be required to stock a Bible in every classroom.

They’re trying to force Christian Nationalism on America’s children, proving, again, that the GOP is the group grooming children.

GOOD NEWS:

UTAH

Representative John Curtis won the GOP Senate primary last week over a Felon-endorsed candidate to replace outgoing Senator Mitt Romney.

Curtis won the primary easily with nearly 52% of the vote and is considered to be a moderate Republican, as shown by his vote for the Respect for Marriage Act codifying the Obergefell Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. He is a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus and the moderate Republican Main Street Caucus.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Sheri Biggs, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and Air National Guard Lt. Col., beat out Felon-endorsed “pastor” Mark Burns in South Carolina’s 3rd District Republican runoff.

Burns is a Death to Gays pastor so this is Good News.

Please note, that we are beating the GOP in a lot of unusual places [Utah and South Carolina] just as we beat them in 2020, 2022, 2023, and here in 2024.

It’s been a while since we noted the child sexual abuse going on in our nation’s churches by our church leaders, teachers, and such, so let’s take a look, thanks to JoeMyGod, at the latest scandals …

ILLINOIS

Isaiah Mikkelson, who was a youth leader at Hope Lutheran Church in Quincy, was sentenced to 6 years each for two counts of criminal sexual abuse of a victim between 13 and 18 years old on church property.

FLORIDA

Harriet Sugg, a former teacher at an Orlando Christian private school, faces several charges of sexual activity with a minor, “Jane Doe”, who alleges Harriet Sugg started to sexually abuse her when she was 15 years old.

Robert William Austin, a Department of Corrections chaplain, was arrested on seven counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor, two counts of computer pornography, seducing, soliciting, luring, or enticing a child to engage in an illegal act, and one count of unlawful use of a 2-way communication device; Austin sent explicit messages to a “14-year-old girl,” who happened to be an undercover detective; Austin allegedly knew of the “juvenile’s” age but continued to send messages.

OHIO

Michael Zacharias, a former priest was sentenced to life in prison on two counts and 20 years on three counts. A federal jury found him guilty of five counts of sex trafficking, some of which involved minors. Zacharias used his position as a priest at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish to target victims and coerce them into sex acts.

NORTH CAROLINA

Daniel Jeremy Abraham, a teacher at a Christian school has been charged with indecent liberties with a student and sexual battery involving a student.

Ashley James Crouse, a pastor at a Caldwell County church is facing child sex charges after the execution of recent search warrants found him in possession of material depicting child exploitation.

MISSISSIPPI

Samuel Lamar Taylor, a minister at several churches throughout Rankin County, has been sentenced to life without parole after being convicted of one count of sexual battery and one count of gratification of lust concerning an 11-year-old autistic child.

MICHIGAN

After he was convicted of assaulting young boys as a Little League coach in North Carolina, Jonathan Russell relocated to Saginaw Township, Michigan where he now faces charges for allegedly assaulting numerous children by exploiting his position at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport.

Luis Mendoza, who served as a church youth leader, has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sex conduct, grooming and engaging sexually with a minor.

WISCONSIN

Anne Nelson-Koch, a former Tomah Baptist Academy teacher has been sentenced  to 10 years prison, 15 years supervised release for convictions on 25 counts of sexual assault, repeatedly forcing a 14-year-old student to engage in sex acts during school hours.

TEXAS

Corey White, a former youth pastor at Redeemer Midland, was arrested and charged with Access with Intent to View Child Sexual Abuse Materials.

And again, not one drag queen or gay person in the bunch, and two cases of child rape are in Don’t Say Gay and Ban Drag Sows Florida; makes one think Ronnie DeSantis is focusing on the wrong crowd in his state.

And it kinda makes it look like that whole GOP smear campaign about ‘gay people and drag queens are grooming children” is just a lie to cover-up for the real groomers … the so-called Men and Women of God.

OREGON

Christopher Pruitt, a Beaverton pastor was jailed last week after being accused of inappropriately touching two young girls who were members of his congregation. Pruitt was indicted on six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Michael Sperou, former pastor and co-founder of North Clackamas Bible Community, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after he was found guilty of two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration; this marks the third time since 2015 that Sperou has been tried for sexual abuse.

INDIANA

Stephen Ayon, a former English teacher and volleyball coach at Fishers Christian Academy was arrested and accused of sexual misconduct with a student, according to court records. He faces three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, three counts of child seduction and one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

Matthew Brown, a former Bishop Luers High School teacher, has been charged with four felony counts of child seduction.

FLORIDA

David Nims, a former Calvary Baptist Church youth director, was sentenced to 50 years in state prison for hiding a camera in the church bathroom to record people and possessing child pornography.

Derrell Redding, an Ocala, was arrested a pastor after two underage girls described the sexual abuse they endured at his hands. Redding is charged with two counts of sexual battery of a child under the age of 12, a count of sexual battery of a teenager under the age of 18, and lewd and lascivious battery of a child more than 12 and less than 16.

Allen Farabee, a retired pastor, is accused of exposing himself to a nine-year-old girl. According to the affidavit, he was arrested the day prior for similar allegations at the same pool.

TENNESSEE

Benjamin Garlick, an evangelical pastor, was arrested for the rape of a child. In addition, his wife, Shaantal Garlick, is also facing 1-count of Facilitation of Aggravated Rape of a Child and 1-count of Aggravated Child Abuse / Endangerment to a child aged 8 and younger.

CALIFORNIA

Rodolfo Martinez-Guevara, a Catholic Priest has been charged with possession of more than 600 images.

Nicholas Garrett Corl, a Baptist church faculty member was arrested on suspicion of felony lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age.

Todd Baldwin, a department staff member at Valley Christian Schools in San Jose, was arrested for possession and distribution of explicit digital media involving juveniles. Baldwin is also suspected of allegedly paying students for the explicit images and videos.

Barry Fike, a minister and former teacher at Fillmore Church of Christ, has been charged with multiple felony counts of child abuse, including accusations that he tried to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sex.

ILLINOIS

Garrett Biggerstaff, a pastor and athletic director pleaded guilty to one of two felony charges of child grooming.

Ferrell Kissiar, a former assistant pastor at the Pentecostal Church in Patoka was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison after various consecutive sentences were handed down in the plea agreement for his involvement in a child pornography ring.

GEORGIA  

Kelly Garrett Ivey was indicted for attempting to sell an underage girl on the dark web. In addition, his church, the Rock Springs Church and its affiliated school, Rock Springs Christian Academy, also faces allegations it failed to warn congregants about Ivey trying to traffic a 16-year-old.

NORTH CAROLINA

Doyle Mirtsching, a former kindergarten teacher and senior pastor at a North Carolina church was arrested and charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Ivan Hugh-McDonald Peden, a former Methodist minister, is charged with taking indecent liberties with children, indecent exposure to a person under 16, sexual battery, and secret peeping.

VIRGINIA

Shawn Gooden, a Boy Scout leader, an LDS church leader, and a lawyer, pleaded guilty to four sexual assault charges involving a child less than 14 years old.

TEXAS

David Lloyd Walter, pastor at Faith Baptist Church, pleaded guilty to federal charges related to child sexual abuse material; Walther knowingly searched for, downloaded, distributed and possessed child pornography.

Ronnie Allen Killingsworth, pastor of a Wichita Falls church, has been indicted on six counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

NEW MEXICO

Daniel Balizan, a Roman Catholic priest who was removed from a Santa Fe parish nearly a year ago amid a misconduct investigation, has been charged with enticement of a minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity.

WISCONSIN

Jordan Huffman, a former Plover youth pastor, has agreed to a plea deal after pleading guilty to two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child; six other charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

PENNSYLVANIA

Marvin Leroy Mosley, former pastor of United Methodist Church in West Penn Twp., was charged with indecent assault involving three juvenile girls between 2007 and 2012. Mosley is no longer a pastor at the United Methodist Church but at the time of his arrest was serving at a church outside of Schuylkill County.

And again, not one drag queen or gay person in the bunch.

Huh, it’s almost like that whole ‘gay people and drag queens are grooming children” nonsense is a lie to cover-up for the real groomers … the so-called Men and Women of God.

MICHIGAN

Vincent DeLorenzo, 84, a former priest accused of abusing a child in the 1980s, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted criminal sexual conduct for the sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy after a funeral service he officiated for the child’s relative in 1987. He is sentenced to one year in jail, five years’ probation and will be required to register as sex offender and pay restitution.

FLORIDA

Donny Raney, a pastor in the Okeechobee County School District is facing allegations that he was engaged in an inappropriate romantic connection with a student at the school; it’s not romance with an underage student, it’s rape.

IOWA

Kristen Gantt, a Dowling Catholic High School teacher has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student. Authorities believe Gantt engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student in her class.

COLORADO

Robert Henry Gordon, a music teacher at the First United Pentecostal Church, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault on a child in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child, unlawful sexual contact, and enticement of a child.

CALIFORNIA

Jesse Joshua Aceves, who founded the Christian clothing brand The Way and WAS active in the Christian hip-hop music scene, has been convicted of “numerous” charges of child molestation and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Aceves is suspected of molesting three children though police suspect there might be additional victims.

FLORIDA

Ed Wilds III, a Putnam County youth pastor, was arrested on charges of possessing child porn. Wilds’ father is the main pastor of the church and declined to comment on his son’s arrest.

OKLAHOMA

Cody Barlow, Wewoka Middle School principal and youth pastor, was charged with two felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under the age of 16. A federal lawsuit reveals graphic allegations of Barlow’s “grooming behavior” towards students. The victim, a then-6th grader, claims Barlow would initiate inappropriate contact in front of other Wewoka faculty members and parents, and on one occasion a WMS counselor walked into Barlow’s office and witnessed Barlow standing behind a 7th grade boy, rubbing the teen’s shoulders and thrusting his hips back and forth against the boy.

CALIFORNIA

Michael Sasser, a Modesto man who has served in a leadership role over student ministries at Redeemer Church, has been charged with forcible sexual penetration, continual sexual abuse of a child and lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

GEORGIA

Alfonza McClendon Sr., a former Savannah pastor, will serve 25 years in prison and life on probation for child molestation and statutory rape. He was convicted of molesting two children between 2013 and 2017 while pastor of the First Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.

NORTH CAROLINA

Erickson Douglas Lee, a police officer, was arrested for child sex-related crimes committed while acting as a church youth leader. According to his arrest warrant out of York County, the allegations against Erickson Douglas Lee were for incidents reported between December 2020 and July 2022. Lee is accused of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor between December 2020 and June 2022, and of committing a sex act with a victim less than 16 years old.

Remember, when someone tells you about the dangers of drag queens around children, remind them that not one drag queen has been arrested for inappropriate relations with a child, but many members of our churches have raped and sodomized and abused children.

It’s not the Drag Queens.

The Bad and The Good ... Monday June 13, 2022

These really are the easiest posts to compile because there are dumb people everywhere, though for some odd reason there are fewer this week. And so we have a few more   bright spots, and given this is Pride Month, it’s especially nice that there are positive LGBTQ+ stories … so here goes:

BAD

PENNSYLVANIA

Two GOP lawmakers, State Senators Scott Martin and Ryan Aument, plan to introduce a bill “to address discussions of gender identity and sexual orientation in Pennsylvania schools.”

In other words, Pennsylvania is going ‘Don’t Say Gay.’

This new bill would pertain to age-inappropriate conversations in elementary schools by prohibiting classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students and require public schools to develop a policy for notifying parents when there is a change to a student’s services or monitoring.

Scott Martin, who dropped his bid for governor in March, is also the author of the state Senate bill against transgender student athletes. That bill passed this week but has zero chance of being signed by Democratic Governor Tom Wolf.

FLORIDA

State GOP Representative Anthony Sabatini said he intends to draft legislation that would charge adults with a felony and “terminate the parental rights of any adult who brings a child to these perverted sex shows,” adding:

“When will the sexualization of children stop?”

I guess he has no problem, though, with parents taking pictures of their children holding guns because guns are good and gay is bad.

GOOD

NORTH CAROLINA

The state Senate passed its own ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill after Republicans introduced it on the first day of Pride Month. The bill is expected to pass the GOP-led House but get vetoed by Democratic Governor Roy Cooper.

And the bill has one local resident fighting back. Matt Bumpas, owner of Sweet Bumpas Cakes, is not a  fan of Hate Laws:

“All this hate mongering really has me angry. It’s hard to talk about. I’m really in disbelief and I really wanted to do something that spoke back to them.”

Bumpas went into the kitchen and created the Please Say Gay Cake. He posted a photo to Instagram and the orders started coming in.

UTAH

Democratic state Senator Derek Kitchen has introduced legislation to codify marriage equality in Utah. Kitchen was joined by Jim Obergefell, plaintiff in the 2015 landmark Supreme Court decision that recognized same-sex marriage nationwide.

Kitchen, Utah’s only out gay legislator, was one of the plaintiffs in the case that brought marriage equality to Utah in 2014. Utah was the first state to ban same-sex unions, passing a law banning marriage equality in 1977, a statute that federal courts stopped the state from enforcing. In statute, however, Utah still recognizes marriage only between different sexes and Kitchen wants that changed:

“We will not go back. We have come too far to go back. We must defend our progress. We must be proactive by removing this exclusionary language from Utah code. We are legislating with our eyes wide open because our history tells us that we have to.”

The march goes on …

TEXAS

The American Civil Liberties Union [ACLU] and Lambda Legal have filed a lawsuit challenging GOP Governor Greg Abbott’s directive to investigate parents who provide gender-affirming care to their transgender children.

According to the lawsuit, a 16-year-old transgender boy tried to kill himself the same day Abbott issued the child abuse directive. He survived, but was admitted to an outpatient psychiatric facility, where staff learned that he was undergoing hormone therapy and reported the family for child abuse. A week after he was discharged, a Department of Family and Protective Services [DFPS] investigator visited the family’s home; they remain under investigation.

Punishing families because they have a trans child; punishing trans children because they want to live an authentic life.

That’s Texas and the GOP.

Remember, We The People have to make the Good News happen by speaking up and standing up and shouting out and voting to remove those people from office who are out to harm women, People of Color, and the LGBTQ+ community in their quest to take this country backwards.

Not to mention the NRA lapdogs and asshats.

CAST A GODDAMNED VOTE!

That Bitch: Mark Robinson

Up in North Carolina, the state’s GOP  Lt. Governor, Mark Robinson, has never hidden his hatred for LGBTQ+ people, but he recently spoke at a church … yes, a church … in Winston-Salem where questioned the “purpose” of being gay, said straight couples are “superior” to gay couples, because they can reproduce, and said he didn’t want to explain to his grandchildren why two men are kissing if they see that on television.

Oh, the children! Protect the children from gay men kissing, but not from a hate-spewing public official.

In his little speech, compared being gay to “what the cows leave behind” as well as maggots and flies, who he said all serve a purpose in God’s creation:

“If homosexuality is of God, what purpose does it serve? What does it make? What does it create? It creates nothing,”

Well, this is as good a time as any to post one of my favorite quotes, which comes from a 1999 Letter to the Editor of the Sacramento Bee in which Preston Reese wrote:

“Is homosexuality a ‘soul-deadening’ perversion? Let’s try an experiment:

I’m going to rip out the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling; burn Handel’s Messiah; slash the Mona Lisa; bury Walt Whitman’s ‘Leaves of Grass;’ incinerate every Tchaikovsky score; torch every Greta Garbo film; ban every Bessie Smith song; and grind every Marlene Dietrich performance to dust.

Then we can evaluate what kind of ‘soul-deadening’ world we would live in without gay people.”

It is of note that Mark Robinson is a Black man, who probably grew up hearing he was less than because of his skin color, that perhaps he is akin to what “cows leave behind,” or is at least the child or grandchild of someone who was treated like shit for being themselves.

He calls himself a man of God but if this speech is the speech of God, then we don’t need God, or even god. It is also worth noting that Mark Robinson says that as a n elected official it is his job to protect all people, even LGBTQ+ people, but in a church he can stand before the congregation and call us less than shit.

You might also like to know that Mark Robinson hopes to run for governor of North Carolina in 20224, and while separating Church from State in his sermon, he also inflation, gas prices, Afghanistan, and President Joe Biden’s abilities.

Then he said this:

“Ain’t but two genders—male and female. Two. There are two genders, male and female. I don’t care how much you cut yourself up, drug yourself up and dress yourself up, you still either one of two things—you either a man or a woman. You might be a cut up, dressed up, drugged up ugly man or woman, but you still a man or a woman, and I don’t care who doesn’t like it.”

Hate Speech, in a sermon in a church by a publicly elected official. Hate. And it’s words like that that end up with our trans sisters dead in the streets, our LGBTQ+ family beaten and murdered because, to Mark Robinson, we ain’t worth shit.

Lastly, if Mark Robinson thinks only superior people can reproduce, he might need to take a look at himself and his lineage that produced such ignorance and hate masked as faith; he need only ask about women who cannot bear children but get married; men who cannot father a child but get married. Are they inferior?

They are to That Bitch, Mark Robinson.

Bobservations

While away for a long weekend, Carlos and I ventured into a little shop in Saluda that had some very cool art and some kitschy things, too. I noticed a pillow, and said to Carlos:

“I love this pillow… it says, ‘I love you more today than yesterday. Yesterday you really got on my nerves.’”

From across the little shop, a howler monkey screeched:

“What did I do yesterday?”

The shopkeeper and I had a good laugh at that one, and then I bought the pillow.

Even he knows you can’t stop a pandemic by not getting a vaccine, not wearing a mask, and then taking three steps back to last March when this all started.

Jeff Bezos says he heard from people that have been to space saying the experience changes you.

So, um, is he not coming back as a greedy self-entitled, making money off the loser class pig?

I am not a gin fan—sorry Maddie—but while staying with Neal and David for a long weekend, David suggested a gin martini made with Monkey 47 Dry Gin, and it was delicious.

I may be a convert ….

According to legend, over 300 years ago a young Cherokee Indian chief fell in love with a fair Indian maiden. They often met on top of the rock ledge overlooking the valley below. When the young chief was called to war, the maiden promised him that she would wait for his return from their favorite rock ledge. But after she learned her love had died in battle, she climbed to the edge of the rock and jumped off. Native American legend has it that on moonlit nights, you can see the ghost of the maiden on Jump Off Rock.

I don’t know about that. But the views of the valley are spectacular. Plus, the day we were there, rain was coming, as you can see in the first photo below.

Our friends David and Neal collect a great many things and have them on display in their homes. Normally, it all gives me anxiety because it’s so much … I tend to like a less is more approach.

But their Piano Room at the new house, even filled with artwork and tchotchkes, was my favorite room in their house. Of course, that might have been because Carlos never met a piano he didn’t want to play and would serenade us each afternoon.

Neal and David also have two of the most adorable dogs, Abby and Marley, who are lovelies … well-behaved lovelies. Marley has a blue eye and a brown eye and the most expressive face. I tried to get them to come home with us, but, alas, they love their Daddies too muchand weren't too sure about cats.

Saluda has been taken over by The Gays …and not just Neal and David. A gay couple opened a little coffee/lunch spot called the Wakey Monkey, which Carlos, in his juvenile, adorable brain, instantly dubbed the Whack-y Monkey.

In addition, to the Wakey Monkey a gay couple purchased an abandoned inn up the hill from town and are refurbishing it and plan to open the inn again soon.

The Gays; we make everything better.

And, while y’all know I am not a real big fan of what goes on inside most churches, I love looking at the buildings, and the Episcopal Church in Saluda is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in a long while.
