I Didn't Say It ...

Ts Madison, entertainer and trans actress and first Black trans woman to star in and executive produce her own reality series, on being a trans person in America today:

“Your visibility is your activism. Your presence is your advocacy. There is no reason for us to be living in the shadows. We’re living in a climate right now where the erasure of trans people… seems as if it’s been priority number one in this administration. The way that you garner votes is you fear monger, especially from this regime.”

Her new activism comes at a time when transgender Americans face a wave of new restrictions from the recent passage of Idaho’s bill criminalizing … CRIMINAZLIZING … transgender people’s bathroom use to Kansas,  where the government invalidated transgender drivers’ licenses and ID cards.

We all need to stand up, by and for our trans brothers and sisters.

D.L. Hughley, comedian, on not voting for Cankles:

“I am very proud I’ve never voted for a president who raped women and children. I never voted for a president who defrauded charities. I never voted for a president who celebrated the death of anybody. And half [the people] in this country can’t say that.”

Andy Kim, New Jersey Democrat Senator, on the Pentagon preparing for a weeks-long ground invasion:

“We cannot have American troops on the ground in Iran. This is going to be such a risky operation. And for what purpose? This is not an end to this war, this is something that will only prolong it and increase the risk at a time that we’ve seen already so many service members put at harm’s way, and this administration not giving them everything that they need. This administration, from Cankles on down, is woefully inept at leading, and will end up getting more Americans killed and for what? Money? Ego? The drunken leanings of a Fox News pundit?

The arts are where we see the world, and see ourselves, and if we allow the government to control and shape the arts, millions of voices will be silenced and you will only hear and see what the regime wants for you.

Oh James, please be right, dear goddess please be right. I mean, I know he’ll run, but we can still punish him by freezing his assets and making sure he never ever comes on American soil ever again … not even to be buried on the 15th green at one of his punk-ass golf courses.

I Didn't Say It

RuPaul, finally speaking out, offhandedly, about the assault from the right on drag queens:

“Hey, look over there! A classic distraction technique, distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on: jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school. But we know that bullies are incompetent at solving real issues. They look for easy targets so they can give the impression of being effective. They think our love, our light, our laughter and our joy are signs of weakness. But they’re wrong because that is our strength. Drag queens are the Marines of the queer movement. Don’t get it twisted and don’t be distracted. Register to vote so we can get these stunt queens out of office and put some smart people with real solutions into government. And by the way, a social media post has never been as powerful as a registered vote.”

And along with a vote, Ru, we need people in positions of power, people with a fan base of sorts, to speak up and out and loudly.

D.L. Hughley, responding to the haters who don’t like Chris Rock talking Will and Jada in his new comedy special:

“If you love comedy, if you are a student of the art, if you are one of the few remaining people that allow for creative expression, then you walked away from this with the same sentiment. Side note … That happened to HIM, to CHRIS … and the ENTIRE WORLD got to weigh in and talk trash and make jokes and ‘shoulda, woulda, coulda’ the whole damn thing to death. OTHER COMEDIANS have bits about it, it was an opener for most of us. The ONE PERSON YOU NEVER HEARD FROM ABOUT IT WAS CHRIS!! So NOW, that HE decides to address it on HIS TIME, people have the audacity to say: ‘he’s bitter … Why is he still talking about that … let it go … or the best one WE’VE MOVED ON.’ So YOU got to speak on it but he can’t??? Y’all are a straight f*ckin trip.”

I rarely agree with Hughley but this time he was spot on; we heard from the entire world and from Will and Jada and their demon spawn, while the only one not talking was Rock. Now he has, and, for me, it was brilliant.

Tucker Carlson, the man who was caught on tape saying he doesn’t like Thing 45, trying to rewrite Insurrectionist History this week, proving yet again what most of us know: Fox Lies:

And that’s exactly why the Democratic Party and its allies in the media prevented you from seeing it. They were sightseers.”

Sightseers don’t break into buildings, vandalize it, kill people, shit on the walls and ransack offices, Fucker. But let’s try this: let’s have “sightseers” head to Carlson’s house and break in and wipe their feces on his walls and steal his stuff and see how that little lying bitch complains and moans.

In addition, Fucker Carlson and his ilk at Fox “News” should be held responsible for 1/6/2022 because they knowingly lied about the election and spurred those ignorant MAGAt’s on.

Matt Walsh, Daily Wire host, saying that having a trans child is “a fate worse than death”:

“I hear from parents all the time, just these horror stories of, you know, I raised my kid, I did everything right. I even homeschooled. I did, whatever. And then one day my daughter at 16 comes home and declares that she’s a boy. And from that moment, it’s just she is devoured by this cult almost overnight and becomes unrecognizable. She wants nothing to do with us anymore. I’ve heard the story so many times and it’s terrifying. It’s horrific. You know, it’s—I think as a parent, it’s like a fate worse than death in a lot of ways. You’re losing your child. It’s like a death of a child while they’re still alive and—so that’s what makes it, I suppose, personal for me.”

He hears from parents ALL the time and yet doesn’t produce one parent to corroborate his story? It would be a fate worse than death to have Matt Walsh, ignorant, lying, transphobic bigot as your parent.

Michael Knowles, another host on The Daily Wire, speaking at CPAC about what to do with transgender people:

“The problem with transgenderism is not that it’s inappropriate for children under the age of 9. The problem with transgenderism is that it isn’t true. If [transgenderism] is false, then for the good of society… transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely.”

How very Hitler of him. But keep in mind, he’s preaching to the GOP choir, which means we all need to vote, and get the hate out of Congress.

I Ain't One To Gossip But ...

Color me not surprised, but Kim Kardastrophe has actually admitted she would, well. Let’s have her say it:

“I’ll try anything. If you told me that I literally had to eat poop every single day and I would look younger, I might. I just might.”

Sarah Jessica Parker’s next move might be trying to get Kim Cattrall to pay rent for the space she takes up in SJP’s head.

Seriously, SJP, who pretends to take the high road in this ALLEGED feud with Cattrall is at it again, playing both the victim and the bitch as we near the Five-Year Anniversary of the time that Cattrall said she wasn’t going to ever do another Sex and the City movie. Now, for her part, Kim has maintained her position; she did the role on TV, she did the role in two movies, one so-so and the other so so awful, and when asked to do a third film she said, simply, ‘No.’

But SJP played the victim, acting heartbroken that her “friend” would do such a horrible thing as turn down a job, and then turned into a bitch, saying that Cattrall was never ever going to be asked to the TV And Just Like That … Nobody Watched which was fine with Kim because, again, she announced five years ago that she wasn’t playing Samantha again.

For the love of the goddess, SJP, get it through your head: Kim is done with you and the show. You, however, speak on and on about Cattrall and the show, as you did when the reboot began airing and you had your cutesy scenes about Samantha and when you spoke to the press saying The Actress—you couldn’t even bring yourself to say her name—was never asked, and was never going to be asked, to join a TV show she had already said she did not want, and was not going to, do.

Of course now you’re talking again, because Cattrall has revealed the reason she turned down SATC3 was because her part in that film would have been mostly about a thirteen year old choking his chicken to a picture of Samantha and she called it tasteless … and so SJP took herself to The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast and said it was “very hard” to talk about the situation with Kim before proceeding to talk about it:

“There were just a lot of public conversations about how she felt about the show. I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way.”

Victim.

Then SJP got into the fight that started all of this back in 2017. She claims everything was fine with her and her employees until the negotiations started on Sex and the City 3. She claims Kim wanted a raise and when she didn’t get one, she quit. And that’s a bad thing? Samantha has been part of that show, and the first two films, and thought maybe a nice raise would be a way of saying Thanks, but the producers—and let’s be clear, Sarah Jessica parker is a producer—told her to pound sand.

Bitch.

SJP is butt hurt because And Just Like That …. Nobody Watched is a minor hit, and most of the chatter around the show is, “Where’s Kim?’

And she’s living rent-free inside SJP’s head and laughing like mad about it.

Former Glee star Matthew Morrison found a new gig this year on So You Think You Can Dance until it turned out to be So We Think You’re Fired.

The story first broke that Morrison was “let go” from the show for not following “protocols” and it sounded like  COVID thing, especially after he released this statement:

"Having the opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance was an incredible honor for me. Therefore, it is my deepest regret to inform you that I will be leaving the show. After filming the audition rounds for the show and completing the selection of the 12 finalists, I did not follow competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly. I cannot apologize enough to all involved and I will be watching alongside you all on what I know will be one of the best seasons yet."

Sounds simple, but then word came that Morrison was fired "after he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant." Now, the show wants to stress that the two “didn't have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media [and] she felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation."

To make it even more gross, Morrison has been married to Renee Puente for eight years and have two children together. Renee seems to have responded Morrison’s firing by posting to Instagram:

“Nurture yourself by first SLOWING DOWN, taking a DEEP BREATH, and asking yourself a few questions to GAIN CLARITY on your situation. How do I feel in my body? What is consuming my mind?” 

SLOW DOWN and stop messaging young girls while you’re a married man, Matthew.

Take a DEEP BREATH and think about the private messages, which I can only guess won’t be private for long.

And GAIN CLARITY on which divorce attorney to call.

You know, Mo’Nique loves to beef. She beefed with Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry about Precious for thirteen years until they all kissed and made up this year, and so now she needs a new beef: enter DL Hughley.

Mo’Nique and D.L. were scheduled to appear together at Detroit’s Fox Theater for The Comedy Explosion but Mo’ ALLEGES that DL refused to share the stage with her if she was the headliner and so Mo’Nique spent most of her set raging about it onstage, and not at all being funny … which she was hired to do:

“Y’all don’t understand. I was getting ready to walk the fuck up out of here, but I said, ‘I can’t let the people down.’ I’m 30-plus years in this motherfucking business and I don’t open for no goddamn body. The contract said, ‘the headliner.’”

Mo’Nique says DL “crossed the line” and that he has criticized her in the past on one of his tours, and so she stewed and beefed and waited years for the one time she and DL would be on the same bill, and she went off.

And DL was not having it and, as people do, took his claims to social media:

“All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused. Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique. Oprah was the problem, Tyler Perry was the problem, Charlamagne was the problem, Steve Harvey was the problem, Lee Daniels was the problem, Netflix was the problem… Now it’s MY turn. At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!! Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique… People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract. Apparently, the role you played in PRECIOUS turned out to be an autobiography. I wonder who’s next… “

Ouch; and then he added in ALL CAPS:

“ANSWER ME THIS…. WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE “HEADLINER” AT THE BOTTOM AND MENTIONED LAST? THE CONFUSION IS WITH WHOEVER GASSED HER UP ON PREMIUM OCTANE. NOW BACK TO THIS STOGIE AND BOURBON. Y’ALL AIN’T F*N MY SUNDAY UP.”

Mo’Nique clapped back … in ALL CAPS too no less … because, well, she’s Mo’Nique:

“THE FACT THAT YOU POINT THE PEOPLE TO THE TICKET STUBS FOR THE ORDER OF THE NAMES VERSUS TO YOUR CONTRACT IMPLIES THAT YOU DON’T HAVE A CONTRACT THAT SHOWS YOU ARE THE HEADLINER, LIKE I DO. EITHER SHOW YOUR CONTRACT OR BE QUIET. STOP MESSING WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER MESSED WITH YOU AND WHO ONCED CONSIDERED YOU A COMRADE IN COMEDY. BUT I THANK YOU DL BECAUSE YOUR YOU’RE THE REASON WHY I FIGHT FOR MY PEOPLE LIKE I DO. ANYTIME YOU OPENED FOR THE KINGS OF COMEDY, AND I WAS THE HEADLINER FOR THE QUEENS OF COMEDY AND YOU THINK YOU SHOULD CLOSE THE SHOW OVER ME IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE BIAS THAT BLACK WOMEN HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN THIS BUSINESS. I WON’T EVEN DISCUSS AWARDS.
I LOVE US 4REAL.”

I’m giving this feud about 13 years to run its course, with Mo’Nique taking every opportunity to play the victim, until the day she makes up with DL, and then finds another target.

Kimmy has started a new skin care line … and, as of now, it does not include eating excrement, but she has named it Skkn by Kim,  which is eerily similar to Lori Harvey’s skincare line, Skn by LH.

As the Twitterverse said:

“Sis just added a K and called it a day.”

“Anyone with a fully developed brain and a pair of working eyeballs can clearly see that S-K-N and S-K-K-N is the same.”

“You could be so creative with your kids’ names. Now all of a sudden, you lost creativity? … At this point, it’s pretty much giving copy and paste.”

It is kind of ridiculous, but am I the only who, when I see Lori Harvey’s business name I see Skin by LH, but when I see the Kardastrophe knockoff I see Sikken by Kim?

Once Again, DL Hughley Proves Himself An Attention Seeking Ass

It was just a few weeks back that ALLEGED comedian DL Hughley came to the defense of Kevin Hart over the latter’s ALLEGED joke about beating his son if he thought he might be gay. Hughley tried to spin it that humor is always funny but didn’t seem to get that child abuse and gay bashing aren’t a joke.

Well, Hughley is still at it … being an ignorant dick, I mean  … because this week he went after actor Terry Crews, whom you may remember, was physically groped by another man at a party in Hollywood a couple of years ago. Hughley, who wasn’t at the party, and therefore has no firsthand knowledge of what happened, suggested that maybe Terry Crews wanted to be sexually assaulted by William Morris agent Adam Venit, or simply wasn’t man enough to fight back:
“I think it’s hard for me to think that a dude with all those muscles can’t tell an agent to not touch his ass. I don’t understand. I think that now everybody’s so into this notion that, ‘It happened to me too.’ Hey, motherf**ker, God gave you muscles so you could say no and mean it.”
Blame the victim; I imagine DL Hughley might also blame women who are assaulted because, you know, they dressed a certain way or went to a bar alone … or …

Well, Terry Crews wasn’t having DL’s bull shiz:
“You told the world ‘God Gave Me Muscles So I Could Say No…’ Are you implying I ‘wanted’ to be sexually assaulted? I’m listening, sir…”
And DL, ever the asshat who says shiz and then backs it up with more ignorance or nothing at all simply replied:
You saw the video.”
Crews replied:
“Sir you said I should have pushed him back, or restrained him and I DID ALL THOSE THINGS … but you act like I didn’t. Were you there?”
DL, who thinks beating a child because they might be gay is funny, then suggested that Terry Crews should have slapped “the sh*t outa him” because, in DL”s tiny mind, violence is the answer. But, luckily, Terry Crews isn’t some kind if moronic Neanderthal who thinks fists are the way to solve a problem, though Crews did wonder:
“So sir…If you truly feel that is a correct way to deal with toxic behavior … Should I slap the sh*t out of you?”
And then Hughley posted to Instagram:
“It’s always people that know you the least that judge you the most.”
Clearly DL doesn’t see his own ignorant judgement of Terry Crews in this situation at all because, in the end, DL Hughley is just an Ann Coulter kinda wannabe, saying stupid, ignorant, know-nothing shiz  simply for the attention.
And for his part, Terry Crews took the high road:
“I have looked up to you my whole career as one of the funniest most talented people I’ve ever seen. I remember when I saw you warming up the crowd at FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR and I thought ‘this man is a genius.’ But now you are an example of when comedy turns to sarcasm and cynicism. And you find it extremely easy to get jokes at someone else expense. You mock my success, but all I ever did was support you. You @50cent @unclerush @tariqnasheed have decided my sexual assault was hilarious, whereas there are a whole generation of black women and men who don’t think it’s funny. ABUSERS PROTECT ABUSERS but they MOCK SURVIVORS as well. When you see me, keep it moving.”
DL did not respond.

Go figure; he’d been served; he’d been outed as a man who thinks child abuse is funny, who thinks gay bashing is a laugh, who thinks a man, especially a man with muscles, can’t be sexually assaulted.

DL Hughley is an ass.

Rant Mode: Kevin Hart, DL Hughley and Homophobia

Just some thoughts on that whole Kevin Hart booted off the Oscars for an old homophobic Tweet about how he’d beat his son for being gay if he found him playing with dolls. But there was more from Hart; he wondered about a man’s profile picture on Twitter:
“Why does @DamienDW profile pic look like a gay bill board for AIDS……….Booom, I’m on fire tonight.”
Or howsabout this one:
“Why does @wayne215 have so many pictures of me in his phone!!! What ru some type of FAT F** that takes pic of small black men all day?”
And this:
“@dwadeofficial U should ask the question like this, how many “gay” men sweat when they wear dress shirts, because real men don’t lmao p.s. f**.”
Hilarious. And you can say, all you want, that he Tweeted those things years ago, but violence against a child isn’t funny; portraying gay men to be “less than” and not “real” men isn’t funny; it feeds hate. But hey, a few people laughed, right?

And some people took Hart’s side, and came for others, like Amy Schumer, who also had a year’s old Tweet:
“Enjoy skyfall f**s. I’m bout to get knee deep in Helen Hunt #thesessions.”
Now, do I like that she used the word ‘fag’? No, I don’t; I don’t like when straight people say ‘f**’ as much as I don’t like it when white people say ‘n****r’. I find it offensive, but … Amy’s tweet didn’t threaten violence or physical abuse on a child who might be gay or just might like playing with dolls and playing make believe.

And some are comparing Hart’s “joke” to Oklahoma University quarterback Kyler Murray who, after winning the Heisman, apologized for using the words “queer” and “queers” in old Tweets from 2011 and 2012. The difference between Murray and Hart’s offensive Tweets are two-fold: one is an adult threatening violence to a child and the other was a 14-year-old boy acting the fool; other differences are that as soon as Murray’s Tweets resurfaced, he instantly apologized:
"I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15. I used a poor choice of word that doesn’t reflect who I am or what I believe. I did not intend to single out any individual or group.”
Hart, at first, refused to apologize though, yes, I know, he apologized once already, but again, it’s the violent nature of his Tweets toward his own child that are troubling.

See, there is a difference those Tweets, Kevin Hart, and Nick Cannon, who stepped in to defend Hart, and if you don’t see the difference, then you never will. 

Now, we come to Asshat and ALLEGED comedian DL Hughley who also defended Hart on Twitter and then went after trans female, and Pose actress, Indya Moore when she questioned his rationale. Hughley said:
“A Comedian says something that offends people and refuses to apologize? What do I say?.....Fuck em if they can’t take a joke! Well done “
I wonder how Hughley might feel if the joke was about a black child being beaten or being called the n-word; I mean, surely some people might find that funny.

Moore responded to that:
“I know you don't care! That's what the issue is. You complacent to how you jokes impact the quality peoples lives. You insensitive. I make people laugh all the time without making fun of other people. People around me listen & you give them permission to treat me how they want”
And Hughley stood firm:
I could give less than a damn what you think if u don’t dig it don’t listen! But I’d never apologize for a joke”
So, DL, if we don’t like what someone is saying, some joke they are making, we should just not listen? And let hate simply stand? Let homophobia be the last word? Let child abuse be laughed at?

Added Moore:  
“There are consequences for the things you say no matter who it makes laugh. So since you don’t give a damn don’t act surprised & defensive when people who do give a damn oppose you- cus what’s a matter of jokes for you is a matter of safety for others…you ain’t gonna sit around and collect money at the expensive of oppressing people and negatively influencing the quality of their life through by how you use they platform. So start buying up stocks buddy cus my generation ain’t having it…your jokes divide people and that’s why you fail as a comedian. By all means don’t apologize, you can be all the clown you want but you will never lead with bullshit.”

Apparently, as long as a joke puts his kids through school, he’ll say whatever he wants and never apologize, but, again, I wonder, as a black man, would he have the same response to a joke about beating a black child? Using the n-word?

It wasn’t the joke, it was Hart’s decision to say he’d beat a child if he thought the child was gay. And anyone who finds that funny, or thinks it compares to other comedians using the f-word, doesn’t get it. Gay people, trans people especially, are being beaten and murdered in this country every single day and it’s not funny.

And it’s no joke. And the way to stop it is at the source; the way to stop it is to stop laughing at it.

My Two Cents: Caitlyn Jenner & Anti-Trans Humor [?]

Transgender is funny, y’all; it’s a joke. I mean, a sixty-something guy, a former Olympian, slaps on a dress and we’re all supposed to be accepting and understanding at the freak show?

Even Mike Huckabee gets it, saying he wished he could just switch genders back in high school so he could watch the girls shower; it’s a joke, right? And, Huckabee said, being trans is nothing to be proud of, or to celebrate, or accept. It simply deserves belittling, the idea that someone can be transgender. Oh, but then add to that the idea that the trans person is somehow a hero? Oh, hell no.

See? isn't transphobia fun? Of course it isn't, but that isn't stopping people ...

It’s been a couple of years that people have been speculating about then-Bruce Jenner; I mean, he had surgery on his face and suddenly looked decidedly more feminine; he’d ALLEGEDLY — though we now know it to be true — had surgery to shave down his Adam’s Apple. Was Bruce transgender? Let’s all make jokes about it ….

Then Bruce did transition, but before doing so completely he gave one last incredible interview to Diane Sawyer, chronicling his struggle with gender dysphoria, chronicling his struggle with trying to match how he looked on the outside with how he felt on the inside; chronicling his decision to simply stop hiding who he, soon-to-be she, was, and live a more open life.

And then the jokes really rolled in … and the anger and hate … when it was announced by ESPN that now-Caitlyn Jenner would be the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY awards this year.

And while those more narrow-minded and hateful among us because spreading rumors about why the ESPY producers chose Caitlyn, let’s make one thing clear: ESPY producers never had a “second place” or another pick for the courage award. Caitlyn Jenner was their first and only choice.

But that didn’t stop people from wondering why others had been overlooked, such as veteran and double amputee Gregory Gadson. And soon these transphobic people began spreading a meme on social media, a side-by-side photo comparison of then-Bruce Jenner versus Gregory Gadson with this message:
“One man traded 2 legs for the freedom of the other to trade 2 balls for 2 boobs. Guess which man made the cover of Vanity Fair, was praised for his courage by President Obama and is to be honored with the ‘Arthur Ashe Courage Award’ by ESPN?” 
Lovely, yes? And it spread and spread because it’s easier to make fun of things, and people, you don’t understand than opening your mind and brain to something you’d never thought about before. And what galls me most of all are the ALLEGEDLY reasonable thinking folks who reposted this idiotic meme, like Lone Survivor and Battleship director, Peter Berg, who added this caption to the photo:

“Yep”

Luckily, or unluckily for Berg, some people, those rational thinkers among us, were tired of the hate and the transphobia and the general bigotry of those memes and began calling out people like Peter Berg, who then issued his own walk-back apology of sorts:
“I have the utmost respect for Caitlyn Jenner and I am a strong supporter of equality and the rights of trans people everywhere. I also believe that we don’t give enough attention to our courageous returning war veterans, many of whom have sacrificed their bodies and mental health for our country and our principals ... principals that include the freedom to live the life you want to live without persecution or abuse.”
Okay, so you’re a supporter of veterans; but why denigrate Caitlyn Jenner to support your cause? Why turn something that had to have been the most difficult decision of her entire life into a joke about balls and boobs? Ignorance; idiocy; stupidity; and the idea that one doesn’t need to think before speaking, or posting. Caitlyn Jenner is courageous; our US soldiers and veterans are courageous, too. We can recognize and honor one person’s courage without denigrating and belittling another for their bravery.

And, before I go on, Peter Berg is still an asshole, let’s be clear about that. After his half-hearted apology, Berg kept that hateful meme posted on Instagram for several more days until he removed it because, well, stupid.

But Peter Berg isn’t alone; let’s toss some D.L. Hughley into the mix; Hughley, a comedian who, after sporting a pair of black-rimmed glasses fancies himself a political and social commentator with an albeit limited world-view.

In an on-air interview with TMZ, Hughley insulted Caitlyn Jenner with a series of childish jokes and ridiculous attempts at humor.

"She is a beautiful woman, isn't she?" the TMZ cameraman asked.

"No." Hughley replied, and then continued.
“In a Miss Doubtfire kind of way. Stop it.”
Hughley then added that Jenner "looks like very P.E. teacher I've ever had."

And Hughley is not only standing by his idiotic remarks, he’s doubling down on them. On Saturday, he Tweeted a photo showing Caitlyn Jenner at the ESPYs alongside a photo of Robin Williams as his title character in Mrs. Doubtfire.
"Somebody tell me I'm wrong #TeamDL."
Okay, I will. There is nothing at all similar about a person who has been struggling with gender dysphoria, struggling for over sixty years to live her true life, damn the consequences and the jokes, and then chooses honesty, and a man who dresses up in women’s clothes, in a movie, so he can see his children who are living with his estranged wife.

Apparently, D.L. you cannot see the difference between a film comedy and someone’s real life, so it’s best if you sit down, take off the horn rims, and stop acting like you’re an expert on anything other than insulting remarks and transphobic comments.

But, of course, he doesn’t sit down; he then speaks about Arthur Ashe, the first and only black man to win the singles title at Wimbledon, and a man who died in 1993 from AIDS-related complications. Hughley calls Ashe a "symbol of courage."
"He fought AIDS with dignity and honor and Caitlyn Jenner put on a dress. I don't think it's the same thing."
It’s the exact same thing.

Arthur Ashe died of AIDS at a time when it was still considered something sick and sinful, but Ashe gave a face to AIDS; he made people see that anyone, even an athlete, could contract AIDS.

And like Ashe, Caitlyn Jenner, has put  a face to transgender and made people, at least some of us who aren’t living in a cave somewhere, see that transgender isn’t something sick or sinful, and that anyone, even an athlete, could be trans.

But Hughley just wants to make jokes because, when people, are fearful and frightened and ignorant, they use humor and bad, bigoted jokes to cover their stupidity.

So we have man who thinks Caitlyn isn’t as courageous and a war veteran, and a man who thinks Caitlyn is just a man in a dress, which is not brave at all.

But what about a real soldier? What would a soldier say to these two men about Caitlyn Jenner and courage?

The night that Jenner gave that amazing speech at the ESPYs the internet was flooded with supportive messages and praise for her struggle and her acceptance and her strength in finally becoming herself. And, neutrally, that praise brought out the haters with their own special brand of vitriol.

And that brought out the comments of Joey Vicente, a 23-year-old behavioral health specialist in the US Army:
"Your negative opinions on Caitlyn Jenner and her deservedness of an award that you didn’t even know about until a few days ago are irrelevant. Your definition of what or who a hero can or cannot be is irrelevant. 40% of the transgender community have attempted suicide. What if I told you that her speech last night saved even one human being from attempting to take their life? I’d call that a victory on any scale. I’d call that (gasp)… heroic?"
And that’s what it boils down to; if one person, struggling with gender dysphoria, decided that, after listening to Caitlyn speak, not to take his or her own life, then her stepping out of the shadows and into the light, as her true self, speaking her truth, would be one of is the most courageous step of all.

And for Caitlyn to tell all the haters, who seeks to ridicule her as some kind of freak, who transitioned for fame of publicity or a TV show, or because she’s mentally ill, or whatever, to direct all their vile, disgusting remarks and hate at her, and stay away from the younger people struggling with their gender identity, then that also counts as courage.

What is not courageous is making a joke, or posting a meme, or saying that Caitlyn Jenner is a man in a dress.

She’s so much more than that, and so much more than people like Peter Berg and D.L. Hughley can every hope to be.
