I Didn't Say It

Rachelle Lefevre, Twilight star, taking on her local Target store for moving a Pride display to the back the store amid backlash from anti-LGBTQ+ asshats and then taking on the bigots who came for her:

“I came in here two days ago, and my seven-year-old, who’s nonbinary, saw [the display] and said: ‘Look, mom, it’s Pride, look! They’re going to celebrate me!’ And because some people complained and threw some stuff to the ground or I don’t know what happened, they have moved their Pride section to the back of the store. [And] don’t anyone come back at me with ‘It was a security issue’ because this is a billion-dollar company—if they really care, they can hire extra security. Instead they chose to send the message that LGBTQ+ people aren’t worth protecting or fighting for … We could do so much better, we’re not supposed to negotiate with terrorists. [And] to those of you who wrote hurtful, disgusting [things]—you know what you wrote, you know who you are—… I punched back in a post… and about 90 seconds later I deleted it because something dawned on me. I know how much pain you have to be in to hate that hard, so instead of hating back, I just choose to know how much pain you’re in. Whatever it is that you are numbing with hating other people, I want to say that when you can find the courage to face that pain, and you get rid of the anger, I hope there are people there who embrace you, I hope there are people there who can love you and hold space for you. And when you are ready to show up as your authentic self, the way God made you, full of love, I will be here to say ‘Hi, it’s nice to meet you.’”

Lefevre didn’t specify the location of the store she visited, but she currently lives in Nashville; Target locations in Southern states, including South Carolina, Arkansas, and Georgia, have all reportedly relocated their Pride displays to the back of the stores and removed Pride apparel from mannequins to reduce their visibility.

They’ve literally put us back in a closet.

Fuck that.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, GOP governor of Arkansas, says she’s on a mission to protect children from “the radical left woke mob” and is begging people to move to Arkansas from Blue states:

“I think the best thing that conservatives can do, that are living in blue states, is move to Arkansas. It’s really simple. That’s the best pathway forward, then you don’t have to worry about those things because we’re going to make sure that the kids are protected and that they’re in good learning environments.”

Huckleberry signed bills allowing children to work; she signed bills banning trans people from using the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity; she is for Don’t Say Gay; she is for the ending of teaching about racism and slavery.

Huckleberry is against anything put forward by a Democrat, unless it’s financial aid from the government when God sends tornadoes to Arkansas because their governor is a hate-filled bigot, then she’s first in line with her hand out.

PS Right now Arkansas ranks as the 47th Best State to live in out of 50 states. Does anyone really wanna take a step down?

photo

Wanda Sykes, out comedian, explaining it to the GOP:

“Until a drag queen walks into a school and beats eight kids to death with a copy of ‘To Kill A Mockingbird,’ I think you’re focusing on the wrong shit.”

Word.

photo

Ron Johnson, Wisconsin’s GOP asshat senator, on global warming being a good thing:

“So, in terms of excess deaths, a warming globe is actually beneficial. In my own state, your study shows that we’d have a reduction in mortality of somewhere between 54 and 56 people per, I guess it’s a hundred thousand. Why wouldn’t we take comfort in that?”

He suggested global warming wouldn’t be bad for the US because it’s not as hot here as it is in Africa.

I only hope it gets hot under that tinfoil  hat and cooks his brain even more.

President Joe Biden, issuing a proclamation for Pride Month:

“In June 1969, a courageous group of Americans rose up to protest the violence and marginalization they faced in what became known as the Stonewall Uprising. Police had raided the Stonewall Inn—a gay bar located in New York City—and for the next six days they clashed with LGBTQI+ protestors, who bravely stood their ground. Their courage sparked a civil rights movement for the liberation of the LGBTQI+ community and changed our Nation forever.

During Pride Month, we honor a movement that has grown stronger, more vibrant, and more inclusive with every passing year. Pride is a celebration of generations of LGBTQI+ people, who have fought bravely to live openly and authentically. And it is a reminder that we still have generational work to do to ensure that everyone enjoys the full promise of equity, dignity, protection, and freedom.

Today, our Nation faces another inflection point. In 2023 alone, State and local legislatures have already introduced over 600 hateful laws targeting the LGBTQI+ community. Books about LGBTQI+ people are being banned from libraries. Transgender youth in over a dozen States have had their medically necessary health care banned. Homophobic and transphobic vitriol spewed online has spilled over into real life, as armed hate groups intimidate people at Pride marches and drag performances, and threaten doctors’ offices and children’s hospitals that offer care to the LGBTQI+ community. Our hearts are heavy with grief for the loved ones we have lost to anti-LGBTQI+ violence.

Despite these attacks, the LGBTQI+ community remains resilient. LGBTQI+ Americans are defiantly and unapologetically proud. Youth leaders are organizing walkouts at high schools and colleges across the country to protest discriminatory laws. LGBTQI+ young people and their parents are demonstrating unimaginable courage by testifying in State capitals in defense of their basic rights.

They are not alone: My entire Administration stands proudly with the LGBTQI+ community in the enduring struggle for freedom, justice, and equality. And we are making strides. On my first day in office, I signed a historic Executive Order charging the entire Federal Government with protecting LGBTQI+ people from discrimination—from health care to housing, education, employment, banking, and the criminal justice system. Last December, surrounded by dozens of couples who have fought for marriage equality in the courts for decades, I had the great honor of signing into law the landmark Respect for Marriage Act. This bipartisan law protects the rights of same-sex and interracial couples—like caring for one’s sick partner and receiving spousal benefits. Deciding who to marry is one of life’s most profound decisions, so we etched a simple truth into law:  Love is love.

Meanwhile, I have taken unprecedented steps to support LGBTQI+ youth. During Pride Month last year, I signed an Executive Order charging Federal agencies with combating the dangerous and discredited practice of so-called “conversion therapy.”  I also directed agencies to help end the crisis of homelessness among LGBTQI+ youth and adults and to address discrimination that LGBTQI+ kids face in foster care. The Department of Justice is combating laws that target transgender children, and the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services have proposed new rules to protect LGBTQI+ Americans from discrimination in health care, at school, and in sports. I also established the White House Task Force to Address Online Harassment and Abuse to develop concrete actions to prevent and respond to online harassment and abuse, which disproportionately target LGBTQI+ people. Additionally, my Administration made it easier for LGBTQI+ youth to access vital mental health support. Now, by calling the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and dialing the number 3, LGBTQI+ youth can speak to counselors who have been specifically trained to support them.

This country is stronger and more just when America’s leaders reflect the full diversity of our Nation, so I have appointed a historic number of highly qualified openly LGBTQI+ judges and public servants at all levels of the Federal Government. Our Armed Forces are most capable when all patriots can serve their country, so I protected the right of transgender people to once again serve openly in the military.

But there is more to do, like passing the bipartisan Equality Act, which would strengthen civil rights protections for LGBTQI+ people and families across America. We must also address the disproportionate levels of homelessness, poverty, and unemployment in the LGBTQI+ community and end the crisis of violence against transgender women and girls of color. We must support LGBTQI+ activists around the globe who are standing up for basic human rights and LGBTQI+ survivors of gender-based violence. And we must end the HIV/AIDS epidemic once and for all. Our collective freedoms are inextricably linked:  when one group’s dignity and equality are threatened, we all suffer. This month and every month, let us celebrate the pride that powers the movement for LGBTQI+ rights and commit to doing our part to help realize the promise of America, for all Americans.”

Thanks Joe.

I Didn't Say It

Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation, clapping back at GOP Loon Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bizarre insult where she accused Pete and his husband Chasten Buttigieg of creeping around girls’ bathrooms by saying she’s not even a mediocre Congresswoman:

“The reason you hear somebody like that making nonsensical—literally nonsensical comments like that, I don’t know what you’d do with an electric vehicle in any bathroom—is because they don’t want to talk about what we’re actually working on. So they’re going to keep tripling down on anything that can divide and demonize and demoralize, and through that capture attention. If I were to make a list of the 10… or 20… or 50… or 200 members of Congress whose commentary or thoughts or words it would be the most constructive to be debating or weighing right now, it wouldn’t be the two or three members of Congress who get the most attention on Twitter for whatever outrage they try to outdo each other on.”

In other words, don’t do battle with an idiot, because she’s just out there for attention and has done nothing worthwhile since being elected to office.

Stay strong, Pete.

photo

Will Smith, apologizing for physically assaulting Chris Rock on the Oscars stage Sunday night:

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

Nice, but kind of meaningless because he’s still blaming “the joke” for his actions. Clearly, people higher up have questioned whether it’s worth it to hire Smith, and the Academy is said to be considering action, so Will is trying to save his career.

A child knows you don’t hit people for making a joke.

photo

Ron DeSantis, Flori-duh’s Governor, Walt Disney Company’s plan to repeal the state’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill:

“For Disney to come out and put a statement and say that the bill should have never passed and that they are going to actively work to repeal it, I think one was fundamentally dishonest, but two, I think that crossed the line. This state is governed by the interest of the people of the state of Florida, it is not based on the demands of California corporate executives.”

Except, Ron, you ignorant POS, when exactly did the PEOPLE of you state rise up in overwhelming numbers and demand a ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, because it looks like the only folks who wanted it are you and your bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, racist fuckmonkeys.

photo

Jim Carrey, on that slap, and the reaction to Smith’s Oscar win, and what he would have done had been the victim:

“I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation. Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore. [And] I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, it’s going to be ubiquitous. That insult is gonna last a very long time. If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter, [that’s OK, but] you do not have the right to walk up onstage and smack somebody in the face ‘cuz they said words. I wish him the best, I really do … He’s done great things. But that was not a good moment. It cast a pall over everybody’s shining moment.”

Carrey’s right. It was disgusting to see anyone standing for Will Smith after he assaulted Chris Rock. And that video will be around forever, though I think Smith comes off looking like a petulant bully, so maybe it’ll be worse for him … and I’m good with that.

photo

Madison Cawthorn, alleging that “people” Washington, D.C. have invited him to orgies and done cocaine in front of him:

“I look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics. Then all of the sudden you get invited to, ‘Well hey, we’re going to have kind of a sexual get together at one of our homes, you should come.’ I’m like, ‘What did you just ask me to come to?’ And then you realize they are asking you to come to an orgy.”

Cawthorn also claim he has seen people who advocate for fighting against addiction do cocaine in front of him.

Well, golly Maddie, then speak up. I mean if you’re so sickened by what folks in DC politics are doing call ‘em out by name and get them out of office, unless you’re just a liar an—Oh yeah, never mind.

SIDENOTE: Little Maddie admitted in a tense meeting with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy that his claims were "exaggerated".

AKA Lies.

photo

Wanda Sykes, saying after the slap, Chris Rock apologized to her:

“The first thing he said was ‘I am so sorry. It was supposed to be your night. You and Amy and Regina…I’m so sorry, because now this is going to be about this.’ That’s who Chris is.”

That’s a helluva lot better, and more adult that the Smith family.

photo

Chris Wallace, confirming what most of us already knew:

“I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion, but when people start to question the truth—Who won the 2020 election? Was January 6 an insurrection —I found that unsustainable. Some people might have drawn the line earlier, or at a different point. I think Fox has changed over the course of the last year and a half. But I can certainly understand where somebody would say, ‘Gee, you were a slow learner, Chris.’”

But you learned, and left.

Wallace confirmed reports that he was so alarmed by Tucker Carlson’s documentary “Patriot Purge”—which falsely suggested the Capitol riot was a “false flag” operation intended to demonize conservatives—that he complained directly to Fox News management.

Nothing was done, and he packed his bags.

photo

Chris Rock, in his first standup show since the slap:

“Whoa, OK! Yo, let me do the show! How was your weekend? I don't have a bunch of shit about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that shit. And it will be serious and funny.”

An audience member then chanted “Fuck Will Smith!” but Rock ignored the comment and began his hour-long set.

Again, adult in the room.

I Ain't One To Gossip, But ...

A little over a week after Jaime King—after a quick Smart Lookup I’ve discovered is an actress—filed for divorce from her estranged husband Kyle Newman—after a quick Smart Lookup I’ve discovered is a film director—and the requisite ‘parting ways amicably,’ and ‘please respect our privacy,’ the two decided to unleash the messiness.

The instant Jaime filed for divorce, she also obtained a temporary restraining order against Kyle, and sought sole custody of their two sons, but was denied; the dueling former lovers will have to try and play nice while co-parenting. And then all hell broke loose …

Jaime claims her marriage has been horrible for the last six years, and accuses Kyle of isolating her from professional contacts, employers, and friends. Jaime ALLEGES that Kyle flew to Canada in February—where she was filming a movie—and verbally harassed her in the lunchroom; she ALLEGES that Kyle followed her to a friend’s home, screamed at her, and then chased her down with his car; she ALLEGES that Kyle has berated her, told her she’s a bad mother, and that she now lives in fear.

For his part, Kyle ALLEGEDLY told Jaime’s family and friends that she was struggling with addiction and needed help. Kyle ALLEGES that Jaime is a chronic opiate and alcohol user who is not capable of caring for their sons and refuses real treatment; he has ALLEGED that Jaime used drugs while pregnant with their younger son, and they discovered their 20-week-old fetus was addicted to drugs in his mother’s womb. Kyle ALLEGES  Jaime has driven under the influence with the children in the car, and that she once left their son with his nanny during a doctor’s appointment to  make a booze run; he ALLEGES that the nanny had to track down Jaime after the appointment, where she was still shopping for booze. Kyle also accuses a drunk or high Jaime of improperly buckling their youngest into his car seat, not closing the vehicle door, and speeding off. She was flagged down by the nanny and a pedestrian, who saw the child hanging out of the vehicle.

Well, so much for amicable and privacy. Amirite?
Someone is desperate for attention, but it’s a Kardastrophe, so that’s no shock.

During lockdown, Khloe Kardastrophe has found lots of ways to occupy her time: she’s been caught up in a paternity test as another woman claims Khloe’s Baby Daddy, Tristan ‘I can’t keep my dick to myself’ Thompson, is her Baby Daddy; rumors flew that Khloe was once again pregnant by her serial cheater boyfriend …the aforementioned Thompson; she was dragged over wasting toilet paper in a pandemic; and now this …

Khloe has a new face, y’all, and it’s Number Seven! After she posted the picture, above right, to Instagram to show off her new hair color, most folks were all “Who dis?” Is it FaceTune? Is it a Blow-Up Khloe Doll?

Nope, it’s just another new face, which completes the changing of Khloe Kardastrophe into looking nothing like Khloe Kardastrophe. But it may be a good thing, because now maybe Tristan ‘I can’t keep my dick to myself’ Thompson will think he’s boning a new girl, when he’s really boning the same old Khloe in a new plastic face.
Y’all can rest easy, because Millionaire Troll Doll, Mary-Kate Olsen’s five-year marriage to Olivier Sarkozy is officially dunzo and she’s been able to secure herself a new place to live.

MKO is renting a mansion in the Hamptons for the Summer because, yeah, she’s a millionaire and no longer homeless.

But it must have been fun to play act like a regular person kicked out of her home by her soon-to-be ex-husband, but even though MKO could no longer live in her apartment she shared with Sarkozy, she did have her pick of an apartment she owns on East 49th Street, and a Bridgehampton home she owned. Pity poor MKO … until she coughed up $325,000 to rent that Hampton’s home.

Sorry, not sorry. One Percent problems don’t interest me.
Elon Musk and Grimes attempted to seem very hip and cool … and kinda stupid … when they name their son, X Æ A-12 Musk, until the state of California stepped in and said, “Look, we drew the line as Apple.”

Or because you can’t use numbers in a person’s name.

Grimes says that in accordance with California law, their son’s new name is X Æ A-XII. See what they did? They switched out the Arabic numerals for Roman numerals. How clever, except …

The proud parents don’t know how to pronounce the name. Grimes says it’s pronounced: X-A-I A-Twelve, while Elon says it’s pronounced: X-Ash A-Twelve.

I think it’s pronounced: Will-need-therapy-at-age-twelve.
And now, an ISBL PSA [Public Service Announcement:

Don’t come for comedian and actress Wanda Sykes unless she sends for you …especially if you’re right wingnut and has been actor, Scott ‘Chachi’ Baio.

It all began when presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said that if you vote for _____, “you ain’t black”. Sykes, former producer/writer for the revival of Roseanne, defended Biden’s remarks on Twitter, saying:
“Biden feels at home speaking to the Black community. He made a joke. Comedy ain’t easy, but he didn’t say 2 go shoot Clorox in our tits. Now, I wouldn’t make a blanket statement to say that voting for [_____] means you’re not Black. I would say that it means you’re not smart.”
Snap. Wanda’s fabulous way with words irked one unemployed actor, Scott Baio, who, like his Orange Idol, took to Twitter to come for Wanda:
“Hey @iamwandasykes why is it okay for @JoeBiden to say something clearly racist but @therealroseanne gets kicked off of her own show that YOU are a writer on, for making a mistake? Is it because you're a full of shit, hack liberal?”
First off, grammar, man; and howsabout some punctuation, too?  Still, as I said, don’t come for Wanda unless she sends for you, because she replied:
“Oh! Hey Chachi. Apologies, I didn’t see you. I’ll keep it short. Joe Biden didn’t say, “Then you ain’t an ape.” Well, let me get back to work ... I hope you enjoy whatever it is that you do.”
Wanda’s ape comment is, of course, referring to Roseanne saying that Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett  is “if the Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.” And when that happened Wanda quit Roseanne immediately; the star was fired, the show was cancelled and then revived as The Connors. The mistake ‘Chachi’ is referring to is that Roseanne’s racist ‘joke’ wasn’t racist because she thought Jarrett was white.

Chachi really should spend some time honing his craft … whatever that is …and let Wanda handle the funny and the political and the snarky.

Random Musings

Okay, so y'all know I'm no fan of Mittsy Romney, right? i mean, his campaign, between the gaffes, the lies and the flip-flops, was a blogger heaven. I relished every single Why Mittsy? post, and every The Height Of GOP Stupidity entry, but now?
I'm moving on.
There are a lot of posts about what he said in his concession speech and what he didn't say and how he said it or didn't say it and what he meant. A lot of nit-picking about the how and why he lost.
But not from me.
I'm'a take a page from our newly elected President, and I'm'a move....
Forward.
Well, you knew it would happen. You knew Mama Grizzly Bore™ would snow-shoe over to F**ksNews on election night to stir up her own brand of crazy.
But what you may not have known is what she would look like.
Mall hair, frosted lip gloss.
I couldn’t tell if she was auditioning for the touring company of Broadway’s Xanadu, or starring in a new version of that Fox classic: Married With Homophobic and Unwed pregnant Children.
Or maybe she was channeling her inner meth head.
Either way, could you imagine that as Veep?
Dodged.A.Bullet.
Is it me, or does anyone else think Michael Feinstein, Liza Minnelli and Carol Channing all have the same voice. Think about it—Google them if you have no idea who I’m talking about, though you should slap yourself first.
I want to throw a dinner party and invite these there just to listen to them speak. And to make sure they aren’t the same person.
Lizaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I spent a good deal of time yesterday reveling in the election results, especially the LGBT friendly results all across this country. So, today, I’d like to point out the asshat who, well, got their asses handed to them by the voters:
Tea Party freshman Representative Allen West, who has claimed that there are 80 communists posing as Democrats in the US House, won't have to worry about that a minute longer.
He’s out.
Former Hawaii Governor, Linda Lingle, is also out.
Lingle once compared same-sex marriage to incest, and once, while governor, invited a group of LGBT Hawaiians into her office so she could veto a civil union bill right in front of them, lost her bid to the US Senate.
Snap.
You be the judge:
Carlos and I watched the movie 50/50 the other night, where the absolutely adorkable, Joseph Gordon-Leavitt  plays a young man with cancer. During the film, there was a reference to Terms of Endearment, and later I noticed how much Angelica Huston—who played the mother—looked like MacLaine.
I drove Carlos insane every time Huston appeared onscreen, by pausing the movie and shrieking, “Isn’t that Shirley MacLaine?”
More great news from Election Day:
Alan Grayson, one loudest, smartest, and most progressive members of the US House is back, baby, winning his race in Florida on Tuesday night over his Republican challenger Todd Long.
Grayson was first elected in 2008, but lost in the Tea Party wave of 2010 by 18 points. This time, however, he bested his opponent by 25 points—a 43 point swing—one of the biggest records in history.

I've Seen The Future And It's Looks Like Constance McMillen

If you remember back to springtime, that was when I first wrote about Constance McMillen, a Mississippi high school senior who garnered a bit of notoriety because she wanted to take her girlfriend top prom.

Oy, such a ruckus!

In fact, it caused such havoc in Mississippi, that the Itawamba County school district cancelled the prom outright, rather then allow a lesbian attend with the date of her choice. Then, of course, we learned that the town would throw a prom, and would invite Constance, and her girlfriend. Only trouble there was that the parents, and I use the word 'parents' loosely, staged a decoy prom for a handful of exchange students, and students with disabilities, and Constance McMillen. The other students attended a prom some 30 miles away.

This might break a lot of students. I mean, think back to your high school years. Could you have tried to fight like Constance did? Would you have even tried? I know that I wasn't even out in high school, so this never would have been an issue. But Constance has prevailed, while the rest of her bigoted schoolmates, and their parents, will forever be remembered as hateful liars and deceivers.

Constance was a guest on the Ellen Degeneres Show. DeGeneres declared Constance an inspiration to all of us and presented her with a check for a $30,000 college scholarship. The funds for that scholarship came from an anonymous donor who wanted to help throw Constance a prom. McMillen didn't want a special prom, so the money was redirected to a scholarship fund.

"I know I will continue to be an activist because through all of this, I have met a lot of people. I have heard a lot of horror stories so it's really made me realize how important it is to be an activist. Because, you hear some of these stories and you are like, 'how can you not be an activist?' You know, because some of them are really heartbreaking."

Constance was a Grand Marshall in the New York City Gay Pride Parade.
"I think it's really just because of the way I have been raised. I have always been raised to stand up for myself and I have always been raised to be proud of myself — so a combination of those. I really couldn't do anything else if I was going to be true to myself."
Constance spoke at Mayor Michael Bloomberg's annual Pride Week BBQ.

"There is something special about everybody. So I think that you should embrace who you are because if everybody was the same, then the world would be very boring."

Constance counts among her admirers the President of the United States.

"I know it will change, it’s really just a matter of time because you can tell that my generation, they really don’t care so much about people being gay. You know they might be like, 'well I wouldn’t be gay because that’s wrong,' they might not think it’s OK, but they don’t really think so much about it when somebody else is gay. They just kind of go on with their life. I think that as the generations go by, there will be more and more tolerance because more people are coming out. And that’s a big thing. The more people that come out and the more cases that people hear about, the more that people will get to know gay people. Then I think that there will be more equality and eventually, simply equality."

Constance also appeared on The Wanda Sykes Show. Sykes surprised Constance with an invitation to the GLAAD Media Awards so she could present her with the Stephen F. Kolzak award.

So, while she may be just a girl, fresh from high school, Constance is well on her way to being a strong and vocal representative of the LGBT community. Perhaps the people of Itawamba County thought they could keep her down; perhaps the school district thought she'd simply follow along. But Constance McMillen won't follow, and she won't stay down.

If she's the future of the LGBT community, then it's a bright future indeed.

F**ksNews, As I Like To Call 'Em

So, I was watching F**ksNews last night...I know! How I ended up there I will never know. But Sean Hannity, asshat that he is, was railing against Wanda Sykes for exercising her right to Free Speech. He thought she should have been blasted over what she said about poor drug-addicted blowhard Rush Limbaugh.

How dare she! That's Rush. He's the King of the GOP!

But then he goes after the President, whom he call The Anointed One, and how Obama was laughing uproariously at what Sykes was saying. Cut to the video and you can see that Obama isn't laughing, he is grinning and chuckling. And there is a difference.

Back to Wanda, and as soon as she sees Obama's reaction, she says, Too much? Then she smiles a little at the President and says I know you're laughing on the inside.

Which begs the question: if Wanda Sykes is looking at the President and sees that he isn't laughing at her jokes, then why does Sean Hannity think Obama was laughing?

Oh yeah, right-wing-nut media asshat.

Case closed.

I. Love. Her.

"I think Rush Limbaugh was the 10th hijacker but he was so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight. Rush Limbaugh. 'I hope the country fails.' I hope his kidneys fail. How about that? He needs a good waterboarding. That's what he needs."

This Is Good

Ah, this is excellent news!

Fox is planning on launching a new Saturday late night show with my girl Wanda Sykes. It won't be your run-o-the-mill talk show, either, because Wanda don't play like that.

It'll be edgy, political, satirical, and all out funny.

Wanda's launch date is up in the air, though. It could be on as early as the fall, or wait until January. But it will occupy the spot formerly known as MadTV, which is leaving the air.

Now, I have shown this clip before, but it always makes me laugh, so here is a sampling of the gift I call Wanda!!!

She's A Pistol

My girl Wanda Sykes at the HRC dinner in Washington, DC:
On being an in-demand activist:
“I’m busy! Gay, gay, gay all the time. I didn’t know it was gonna be thus much work! Geez! Every day, ‘This is something gay, can you do this?” I’ll be there! …And I keep saying gay. I haven’t got all the correct terminology down. So many women come up to me, hard-core lesbians: “Wanda! You gotta stop saying gay! You’re a lesbian!…you’re not gay! Men are gay! You’re a lesbian, you’re a woman!” I’m like calm down dyke I just started this!”

On gay marriage opponents:
“It’s just amazing to me how people get involved in something that doesn’t concern them. You know, if they would just mind their own damned business…The economy’s all messed up, it’s all about the economy right now. And think of all that money they’re losing (from) gay weddings. Wouldn’t you love to have some of that gay wedding money?”

On gay marriage:
“It’s just a relationship. It’s just two people who love each other, just trying to deal with each other and get through life together, that’s all. Just trying to build something together. Relationships are all the same. You’ve got one person who likes to talk a lot and the other person who pretends to listen.”

On Republicans:
“Talk about evil people, they’re just nasty! (Rush Limbaugh) saying, ‘I want the president to fail!’ What kind of bullshit is that? He thinks screw everybody else. Screw everybody, I just want to win! That’s treason, right? I’m like, ‘Let’s not close Guantanamo (Bay), send Rush Limbaugh’s big ass over there! He’s a terrorist!’”

On aging:
“It ain’t fun getting old. It’s not. I don’t consider myself old it’s just little things that happen that people don’t tell you about. The bladder ain’t what it used to be. I used to carry an extra pair of panties in my purse back in the day in case I got lucky. Now it’s in case I sneeze!”

I Loves Me Some Wanda

Wanda Sykes, who came out of the closet publicly last year at a demonstration in Las Vegas protesting the passage of Proposition 8, has been selected as the entertainer at the annual White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner in Washington on May 9. President Obama is expected to attend the black-tie affair at the Washington Hilton and to follow in his predecessors' tradition by putting on a comedy act of his own.

'The first thing I did when they asked me to do this gig — I made sure my taxes were paid,' quipped Sykes, taking a dig at the withdrawal of former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle from Obama's cabinet due to unpaid taxes.

Here's some Wanda, riffin' on Prop H8 and bein' gay on Ellen last Halloween; her costume is that of a Wall Street Banker, and she's wearing her Golden Parachute.

Knock It Off!

These videos just one the top awards at the Video Ad Council
It's one of the phrases I hate most, and I do a 'Wanda Sykes' when I hear people say it. I work in a restaurant and one night I heard one of the hostesses complaining about her parents; as I approached I heard her say, "They're so gay."
"Your parents are gay?" I asked.
"No," she said, "they won't let me go to this party."
"Oh, it's a party for gay kids?" I asked, nodding, Yoda-like.
"No!" she snarled. "My parents are gay 'cuz they won't let me go."
"They're gay because of that?"
"yeah. Stupid."
"Oh, they're stupid because they won't let you go to a party, not because your parents are actually gay?"
"No."
"Then say they're stupid. Rules aren't gay; music isn't gay; shoes aren't gay; things you don't like aren't gay. Gay is gay; it isn't stupid or dumb"
Knock it off!
