Random Musings

Oy, the morning. Carlos, who is the Absentminded Husband, misplaced his wedding ring.
“Don’t you keep it on the tail of that tiny metal cat on your dresser?”

“Yes. Always.”
Me, under my breath:
“Well, not always because then it wouldn’t be lost.”

“What?"

“Nothing. Did you have it on the kitchen table and leave it there?”

“I’ve never done that.”

“Well, if you remember I found it rolled up inside the table runner one morning after breakfast.”

“I.Don’t.Remember.That.”
This goes on and on. On the bedroom floor, we look. In the closet we look; the bathroom, the tray by the kitchen door where the keys and wallets go. No ring.
“Go to work. I’ll look for it before I leave.”

“I know I had it in the closet when I was putting on my ratty shorts.”

Which ratty shorts.”
Oh, but that’s an argument for another day.

In the closet I find said shorts, and in the pocket I find the ring. I give it to my husband, and he says:
“I must have put it in there when I put those shorts on after work yesterday.”
He wasn’t wearing those shorts yesterday, and by this time, I’ve bitten all the way through my lip.

Whatta morning. And then his car wouldn't start ... oy.
Tom Brady’s Deflategate four-game suspension upheld by Roger Goodell after it was learned that Brady had an assistant smash the cellphone that ALLEGEDLY contained incriminating texts and emails.

Brady is foot-stomping and head-snapping and whining and bitching and kvetching.

I’m smiling.
Presidential candidate — gosh that still makes me laugh —_____ faced questions about his immigration policy from reporters last week while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border. He did not respond to a question from NBC News regarding what he plans to do about the nation's estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants, but he bloviated:
"First thing we have to do is strengthen our borders and after that we'll have plenty of time to talk about it."
So, he has no plan. Then he was asked if his tour yielded any evidence to support his claim that Mexico is "sending criminals" over the border, and he promised ... promised ... to produce documentation but offered no details.
"We'll be showing you the evidence."
That’s what he said four years ago when he said Obama wasn’t American.
Out there in Seattle last week Anthony Rebello, a hetero-activist, created a Straight Pride Event “celebrate (his) right to be heterosexual, and to encourage younger heterosexuals that they should be proud of their heterosexuality.”

Rebello was the only participant in the parade, and, from the looks of it, the only spectator.

Meanwhile, back at _____ … who also said this week that he would love the Mama Grizzly Bore™ in his administration.

And that got me thinking: maybe she could call in every so often from her house and tell _____ what was happening in Russia? Or, maybe she could be the one who arranges the books and newspapers that come across his desk so he can read them? Or, and this is my favorite, maybe she could be head of the Dept of Trailer Parks and Drunken Recreation?
The Last Ship, on TNT, is about a virus that wipes out most of the population, and a Navy ship that was spared because it was out to sea when the virus wreaked havoc across the globe.

And the virus apparently doesn’t kill hot men because that ship is overrun by Hottie McHotties, like Bren Foster, a beefy Australian hunk.

Kinda makes you wish for a worldwide epidemic if it weeds out the unattractive people.
Just sayin’. And hoping I don’t fall into that category …
[photo 1, 2, 3]

Earlier this year I posted about Evan Young, the 18-year-old valedictorian of Twin Peaks Charter Academy High School in Longmont, Colorado who was banned from giving his graduation speech in which he planned on coming out as gay—see that post HERE.

In addition to being denied the right to speak, Evan was outed to his parents by school principal BJ Buchmann, who subsequently resigned over the controversy.

Well, the school looked into the whole mess and decided that it was the fault of the school … and Evan Young. I’d say that’s a fair evaluation but … on the issue of outing Evan Young to his parents, attorney William Bethke says that Buchmann did not violate Young’s privacy because Young intended to publicly disclose that he was gay in his graduation speech.

Except that he told the parents that information before Young had the chance to come out himself, which is what he wanted to do. And the report found that Buchmann was “distinctly uncomfortable” with Young coming out as gay through his speech.

And that makes me think that’s why Buchmann outed Evan to his parents, in the hope that they might stop their son from saying, “I’m gay.”

As if that would have been so terrible.
And cue heads in Teabagistan exploding, because last week President Barack Obama said he was confident he could win a third term, if only the Constitution would let him run:

“I actually think I’m a pretty good president. I think if I ran, I would win. But I can’t.”

And the right went apeshit … and those folks with fully functioning brains giggled at the joke.
So, we … and by ‘we,’ I mean ‘I’ … get lots of interesting comments to blog posts. Some piss me off; others make me think and rethink. This one had me scratching my head and laughing because this woman, Nancy Leonard, commented on a blog post with a request to loan me some money:
Nancy Leonard said...

Duggared. Even though they got cancelled fired, the Duggars are millionaires from their TLC show.

But what to do when your whole life is fame-whoring and hypocrisy? Money beg.

On the family YouTube page, Duggar Studios, the family asks for supporters to contribute funds so the kids can create “fresh quality content” on their video site, like videos of the brood playing basketball or going to the dentist.

Why not just do a video where you tell us how desperate you are to remain relevant in light of the fact you’ve raised a child molester and now have no television show to pay your bills so you want us … and by ‘us’ I mean ‘no way in hell, me’ … to pay you.

Random Musings

The Duggars, in the midst of a child molestation scandal, and a probe by Child Protective Services, and the loss of the TV gig because they aid and abet child molesters, are still hoping to return to TV because they believe it is “God's plan for them.”

Funny, I think God’s plan is for them to be outed as the hypocritical, holier-than-thou, knuckle-dragging Neanderthals that they are.

But that’s just me.
We are undergoing some new hours and restructuring at work, so my schedule this week has been a confusing mess; days when I should be in, I’m out, and times I should be out, I’m in. I woke up this morning and told Carlos I was glad it was the weekend and he said …

“It’s Thursday.”

I wept.
Funny, cuz it’s true, but the Huffington Post has announced that, while they will continue to cover Donald [t]Rump’s soon-to-implode, presidential bid, they will no longer do so on the legitimate news pages, but will relegate him to the site's entertainment section.

"Our reason is simple: Trump's campaign is a sideshow. We won't take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you'll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette."—Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim and editorial director Danny Shea

And so naturally, [t]Rump responded in truly presidential fashion by writing his own article with an emphasis on words like ‘loser’ and ‘not as rich as me’ and, well, you get the idea.

Petulant child throwing a fit.
John Kasich, former governor of  Ohio, has become the 16th GOP candidate for the presidential nomination. A lot of folks like him because he’s called a bit more centrist than the way-to-the-right leaning others in the GOP Clown Car, but here’s my issue with Kasich.

During an interview, he mentioned how much fun he likes to have while serving in politics and I don ‘t want my president thinking about fun; I wanting his thinking about whirled peas, and world peace, and global warming, and the economy and the incredibly expanding middle and lower classes and the way most politicians worry only about the One Per Cent.

Also, Kasich said he wanted to be the candidate for the poor, for the Black voter, and for the Brown voter; all those folks who’ve been disenfranchised and ignored by the right.
He said not a word about the LGBT community.

Luckily he doesn’t have a chance at being president.

Now, go have fun.
So, they’ve cancelled my Hannibal, one of the most beautifully photographed, scored and acted shows on television.

Yeah, I’m not happy. But then we had the return of The Strain — not as beautiful, but still gripping except … they’ve changed the way the vampires look and act and die from the last season with no explanation,. Now, some of them scurry like little crabs for no reason whatsoever and when they are killed they appear to shatter into thousands of pieces … again for no reason.

Cut to me erasing the series from my DVR. Buh bye.
Marc Lamont Hill. Hot. Smart. Hot. That’s all I got, but every so often you can find him on CNN being hot and smart and hot.

And don't even try to talk to me when MLH is on with my Husband-In-My-Head, Randy Andy Cooper!
Pat Robertson. Yeah, he’s a loon, but every so often his lunacy is funny.

Like this week when he said the Supreme Courts Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex marriage will lead to “love affairs” between men and animals.

Yes, it’s an old chestnut, but my question is: why it gotta be just men doin’ the nasty with the animals? Aren’t they any lesbians into bestiality?

Just sayin’.
Carlos and I are working on a gardening project along the front walk to the house. It used to be lined with hedges that require a lot of work, pruning and trimming, and, well, a lot of sun, which they don’t get in that space.

So, I sat down and came up with an idea on how to make the walkway nicer, and without nearly as much maintenance required to keep it up.

I told Carlos; I took him outside and walked him through the three phases of my plan — yes, three phases; I took him inside and sketched out a plan, showing him where we would use some cobblestones, some native drought resistant grasses, a few pots for his rose bushes, and some mulch … with the idea, maybe, of adding a trellis and a climbing rose bush near the garage.

Last Sunday we began the project — Phase One — along the front porch, and got most of it done, until Carlos, cooling off in the house, said we should try this other way.

Really? I created; I planned; I sketched; I walked you through it … literally. We bought the cobblestones, we bought the pots, we bought the mulch and the grasses and now you are rethinking?

Lord, I love that man but sometimes ….
Last weekend, here in Columbia, South Carolina we had a KKK rally in support of the Confederate flag … and the best part was that the rally occurred a week after the flag was removed.

And there were pictures of white supremacists screaming at people, and people screaming back; there was video of a sousaphone player following the march and giving it some much needed musical comedy relief.

But the picture that stands out most of all is that one up there … a black police officer, Leroy Smith, assisting a man … a white supremacist … in a t-shirt bearing a swastika … who was overcome by the heat … into the shade and giving him water.

Those are the kinds of images of police officers we need to see.

Kudos to Officer Smith for helping a man who literally hates him out of the sun and into the shade.

Random Musings

TLC has canceled the Duggar's television program, months after the release of the reports that Josh Duggar is a child molester.
At work, I have the uncanny ability to say anything to the clients because most people … most people … like my sense of humor.

So, this happened … client comes in, and we've done business with her before and I am acquainted with her, so I step up to help her:
Bob: How are you doing today?
Client: I fucking hate people.
Bob: Um … okay?
Client: I’ve been dealing with fucking assholes all day long and I am at the end of my rope. How do you deal with fucking asshole clients?
Bob: You tell me … how am I doing so far?
What? Was that bad???

PS She laughed.
I thought the Confederate flag issue was a distinctly Southern issue, but it appears the lunacy extends out west …

Case in point: Republican, of course, Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, who sent out an email blast last week about the impending vote here in South Carolina to remove the flag. She defended the flag, calling it part of U.S. history, and saying Americans need to remember both the good and the bad parts of our shared history.

Um, Michele? You dim-bulb? That’s what we were saying about the flag, but we added that we don’t think it should be celebrated and flown over our statehouse. We all know its part of our history and needs to be remembered which is why the flag is being set up in a museum.

But Michelle is dumb, and she doesn’t get it, and she’s probably a bit of a toothless, cousin-fucking, racist hillbilly, even out there in Nevada, because now she has vowed to install a horn on her truck that sounds like the one in General Lee, the car from the TV show Dukes of Hazzard.

Hopefully the horn can at least drown out her idiotic, and stupid, rants.
This week’s Hot Men are, well to put it nicely, a couple of distinct choices. Neither one is classically handsome, but, for me at least, there’s something about each of them that gives me a tingle.

Rami Malek is the star of Mr. Robot and plays a nerdy, morphine-addicted, computer hacker. And, yeah, there’s something there … I’m guessing it’s the eyes, that I just find so attractive.

Then we have Justin Fichelson, a realtor and co-star of Million Dollar Listing: San Francisco. Again, not handsome in the usual context, but there’s something there; plus, he has kind of a cute little giggle.

So, you see, the mens don’t have to be beauties, or hotties, sometimes they just have to have something.
So, while Donald [t]Rump might be cheering, and bloviating, about being at the front of the GOP Clown Minivan, we also have some other news about The [t]Rump.

Out of all GOP contenders vying for the White House, [t]Rump is the weakest competitor against Democrat Hillary Clinton. Yup, in a nationwide survey, [t]Rump leads all of the GOP 17%, with Jeb! in second at 14%; but match up [t]Rump with Hillary and those numbers fall dramatically: he trails her by 17-points.

So, g’head GOP and Teabagger voters, put [T[]Rump up and then watch as he crumbles against Clinton.
So, in our home office, on the floor beside the desk, is a doggie-cat bed — it’s either one of those things depending on who’s sleeping in it at the time.

Sidenote: that photo was taken on one of those rare days when they shared the bed.

When I’m on the computer, Ozzo comes back with me and sleeps in the bed, but then Tuxedo, the Alpha Pet, sits on the desk, above the pet bed, hovering and staring like a gargoyle, literally scaring Ozzo out of the bed, at which time Tuxedo gets into it and  falls asleep.

Recently, though, Ozzo, who has been neutered, apparently grew some balls, and decided he wouldn’t give up his bed. So Tuxedo tried a new tactic.

He still stood on the desk staring at Ozzo, and then, suddenly, Ozzo would leap from the bed like something had bitten him. I coerced the dog back into the bed, only to have leap from it a few seconds later. this happened about five times before I took a look at the bed, and saw the ballpoint pens and giant paper clips that Tuxedo was pushing off the desk onto Ozzo to make him get out of the bed.

Best part? Tuxedo didn’t even want the bed … he just liked making Ozzo jump.

That cat!
Oh Camille Cosby … what-the-ever-loving-hell is wrong with you?

Camille has stood by her husband, accused serial rapist Bill Cosby, even in the face of nearly fifty women stepping forward to say he drugged them and raped them, but her latest response is the worst of all.

A source — and, yeah, I know, sometimes sources aren’t exactly truthful, but this time it fits in with Camille’s MO — says:

“Camille still doesn’t believe that Bill provided drugs and had sex with women without their consent. She’s well aware of his cheating, but she doesn’t believe that her husband is a rapist.”

So, she knows he’s a serial cheater, and has been throughout their marriage, but he would  never drug women; okay, have that opinion, but it’s what she says next that irks the hell outta me.

She says the sex was consensual; that these fifty women told Bill Cosby to drug them so he could have sex with them, or, as I see it, rape them.

Sure, maybe once, maybe, but fifty times? Open your eyes, Camille. You can still love him, if you choose, but your husband is a rapist.
Gosh, I loathe weather-people. I mean, I’m sure it must get boring because, for the most part, the weather in most places doesn’t vary a great deal day-to-day, so they have to do something to make it seem ominous and threatening, or, at least, interesting.

This week, watching GMA over breakfast, the weatherperson was talking about the severe storms taking place in the Midwest — as they have for weeks, and have been doing this time of year, forever — and she said this:

“There were over 900 storm reports.”

Sounds innocuous enough, though it also sounds like there were 900 storms, and not 900 phone calls about, perhaps, one storm. I mean, look at it like this: say my house caught fire … goddess forbid … knock wood … hurl salt … spit to the right … and the fire department got calls from all twenty of our neighbors.

Is that reports of twenty fires, or twenty reports of one fire?

Use your words carefully weatherpeople. Sheesh.

Random Musings

This week’s Musings are Cat Heavy because, well, I say so … starting with MaxGoldberg, whom I’m beginning to suspect is an alien because he sits and stares at the windows, when the shades are drawn, then up to the ceiling, then at me, then back at the shades.

I think he was sent here as a scout, and he’s waiting for the mother ship … and he’s got big plans for me.

I’m afraid. Seriously; afraid.
It seems that two cities in Texas — Austin and El Paso — are considering whether to rename streets that bear Bruce Jenner's into something else because, well, Caitlyn.

Let me make this queer: the Bruce Jenner streets were named that after an Olympic Gold medal winner, and that hasn’t changed, so why change the names?

It makes no sense, and it’s just plain stupid …
A few of my favorite shows have come back, and one has added a new hottie …

Power has returned to Starz and Omari Hardwick … tee hee hard wick … has the most beautiful body … for a drug lord and murderer. But, hey, I can overlook that, you know, for the hotness.

Taye Diggs is back in Murder In The First and, well, I digs me some Taye.

And then I spotted Brandon Barash as a new detective on Major Crimes. There seems to be a feeling that his make be a short arc on the show; I hope not, he’s delicious.
Well, it looks as if Brian “I Was nearly Shot Down In Iraq” Williams might not be coming back to work at the NBC Nightly News anchor desk when his six-month time out for being a Big Fat Liar is up this August.

Rumor has it that Lester Holt, who’s been the anchor since Williams was sent to the corner, may keep the job after all, but don’t feel bad from Williams just yet.

NBC still wants him, just not as their anchor, or the face of NBC News because, well, lies. I expect he’ll become the wine steward for Kathie Lee and Hoda this fall.

Cuz he says he’s a sommelier … or is he?
MaxGoldberg and Tuxedo love each other — Carlos suggests they might be homosexuals … not that there’s anything wrong with that — and love to play and eat together, and, well, snuggle up together.

They do not, however, like photographic evidence of their snuggling.
And the Duggaring continues … the Duggar family is once again under investigation by the Arkansas Department of Human Services and police were called when a DHS worker visited the home to check on a minor child and the Duggars refused to allow it.

A representative from the Washington County DHS called 911 on May 27 after Josh’s molestation became news, and after the Duggars duggared themselves on Fox News — asking for police assistance when DHS was not allowed to see the minor they were concerned about.

This family really needs a time-out … permanently.
What’s this? Marriage equality in Guam?

Last week, a federal judge ended the prolonged legal battle over same-sex marriage in the U.S. island territory and even anti-equality governor, Eddie Calvo, agreed to follow the ruling.  Guam is the first U.S. territory to allow same-sex marriage.

Bravo to Guam, and let the weddings begin!
And, here on the mainland, a judge has ordered Arkansas officials to recognize the more than 500 same-sex marriages performed in the state last year, during that brief window when equality was the law.

It’s like California and Prop 8, y’all. Arkansas will have a tough time defending their marriage ban when 500 Arkansas same-sex couples are now legally wed in the eyes of the state.

C’mon Arkansas, join the other 36 states — and DC — and get on with equality.
She won’t admit it, but Consuelo Roca Jones did not want to be left out of this Cat Heavy post, and so she sat for a portrait.

She does give good face, though she gets bored easily and turns away from the camera, not realizing that you can see her face in the glass.

The real thing or a reflection, it’s all good Cat face.
